Fournette, Weather Add Spotlight On RoJo

October 2nd, 2020

The Buccaneers have the NFL’s 34th-leading rusher on their roster as they prepare to play Sunday in wet conditions.

His name is Ronald Jones, and with a rainy Tampa Sunday morning forecast and a 65 percent chance of rain at kickoff, wet conditions are sure to put a greater spotlight on the Bucs’ rushing attack.

Leonard Fournette is officially out for Sunday with an ankle injury. And when Joe previously asked Bucco Bruce Arians about LeSean McCoy rushing the ball, the head coach said McCoy knows his role as a pass-catching back.

So a big test may be in store for Jones, who is averaging 3.8 yards per carry on 37 attempts this season.

If it is raining, Joe will be very intrigued to watch Jones work. He played college ball at the University of Southern California, where a rainy game is only a little less common than snow in Tampa. McCoy is well known for thriving in snowy games during his Buffalo days.

Joe also hopes rookie Ke’Shawn Vaughn gets his first NFL carries. Arians said this afternoon that Vaughn will be active.

Vaughn may be the guy. But maybe the weather won’t be so bad. Our forecasters are non perfect.

RayJay should have had a retractable roof in the original design. As it stands 90 chance of thunderstorms with heavy rain. More injuries. Ugh.

If you want anyone to Quarterback a bad weather game it’s Brady, and if it’s a light drizzle then why should the game plan change a lot. We don’t need to be little wieners about it and go full turtle mode if it’s a tad wet

This is lining up for a good rushing day for the Bucs. I would expect Jones to get 12-15 carries and go over 100 yards rushing.

    monsoons can be fun

  8. Bill M Says:

Rojo isn’t the problem. Run blocking is. Bucs line is above average pass blocking. Mediocre run blocking. Too much run on first down. Commit to the passing game and mix in the run at random..
