Brady In Cruise Control

October 7th, 2020

Riffs on Tom Brady.

Very interesting words from a man who played quarterback at a high level.

When then-Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick damn near pulled off an upset by himself of undefeated Florida State for the 1999 national title, FSU coach Bobby Bowden was asked about Vick.

In his Foghorn Leghorn, Alabama-barbeque accent, Bowden said, “I have seen the future.”

The future is here with mobile quarterbacks who can gun the ball, but Vick’s days are done on the field. He was like a comet, quick to show up, burned up quickly and poof was gone.

Vick works as an NFL analyst and this week he appeared on “First Things First,” seen on FS1 weekdays. There, Vick said the way park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady played against the Chargers is very likely the Tom Brady Bucs fans will see the rest of the season.

The third or fourth week of the season is when quarterbacks usually engage into overdrive, Vick explained. Whatever kinks or rough edges they had to work out since training camp should be smoothed out by October.

Vick stated the fourth game, for him, was when it all came together each season.

“This is the Tom I expect to see,” Vick said. “This is the norm that we are going to get from Tom Brady for the next 12 games of the season. When you have a game like [Sunday] and usually around Week 3 or Week 4, for any quarterback, if you are having any type of success, that ball starts to feel a little different. That pocket presence starts to show up.

“Like the downfield throws [for Brady] started to show up. And it wasn’t just Tom, it was the running game, the receiving corps. Everybody playing a part.

“As time goes on and the more games you play and the more snaps you get, the better you get. I know from first-hand experience because this is usually about the time you start to feel good about anything that is thrown at us, any defense that is put in front of us.”

In other words, Brady should be comfortable with the Bucs offense and his teammates about now.

Man, if last weekend really was what we should expect from Brady and the offense, this team should do damage in January.

The G O A T Brady is doing this with a hobbled offense, a very good sign. GO BUCS!!!

  2. PSL Bob Says:

Sure hope Vick’s right. Tomorrow night should give us a clue!

  3. ocala Says:

If Tom can pull out a victory on a short week with a ton of injuries at the skill positions the Bucs will be set up perfectly to win the division.

  4. Casual Observer Says:

    Ocala – Well put.

  5. Paul Says:

How ’bout JOE you change your Lame moniker to:

6X Super Bowl Winning, 14x Pro Bowl elected, 3x League MVP award and 4X SB MVP

Sounds a lot more Respectful and Fitting for the GOAT doesn’t it?

  6. Allbuccedup Says:

Even though the Bears are an average NFL team a win at soldier field with a banged up team could solidify the Bucs as a top playoff contender.

  7. Usedtocould Says:

Paul, how about you change your handle to Karen?

  8. Joe Says:

    LOL

Paul, I respect your stamina here. You know my stance. Regarding tomorrow, I think this is a good litmus test for the team. Whirlwind week for me and my buddies. Went to the game on Sunday, made the cover of the local newspaper cheering, and will be traveling to Chicago tomorrow to cheer on the Bucs from a local bears pub (Yes originally we were planning to go to this game. Covid had other ideas). Should be interesting!

    Awesome! LOL 🙂

Would Joe would prefer to have Winston back?? He seemed to love what he called “America’s qb” and didn’t call him names ,huh??…asking for a friend

  13. mark2001 Says:

ben… maybe Joe propped Jameis up because he knows Jameis was really never America’s QB, unless you consider the moment he was drafted as that singular moment. Calling him a crab leg winning, taxi driver groping, turnover machine would be personal. And I don’t think that is where Joe is going. Almost everyone calls Brady future HOF, GOAT and such. Maybe he is just looking at another angle on likely the player at the most important position on our team…the guy that touches the ball and directs the offense on every offensive play. I don’t think it is anything personal.

  14. mark2001 Says:

Ben…it is like being an entertainer..or anyone trying to engage others. Let them think anything they want about you, but above all, don’t let them catch you being boring. That…is the kiss of death.

  15. Anonymous Says:

Bring BucsBack: I’m appalled at that f&@ked up statement and then Joe backs it up…must be a member of THE YOU PEOPLE MOVEMENT!!!

  16. Paul Says:

    thank you MARK!!

My days of Learning to Skip over BS are well behind me BRO. I am calling BS when I see BS and calling the GOAT what JOE calls him is CLASSLESS-especially after all the love shown for JW in the past. Change the Moniker and I will STOP.

Like my man Spike once said-

    DO THE RIGHT THING!!

  22. Sport Says:
