“You are telling me… playoffs?”
Rejoice, Bucs fans!
After the Bucs slapped around the Broncos Sunday in Denver, raising their record to 2-1 and taking over sole possession of first place in the NFC South (the only team in the division with a winning record), Bucs fans are starting to smile.
Playoffs?
It is almost outrageous to think that. After getting kicked in the groin so often, almost on a monthly basis during the Lost Decade, some Bucs fans struggle to think seriously of the playoffs because of the PTSD they developed from so many years of horrible teams and strange draft picks and rotten kickers.
Cheer up Bucs fans. Mike Harris of Football Outsiders, a thinktank of football statheads, seems to be of the mind the Bucs have a better than average shot of making the playoffs as we end the month of September.
Per Harris, using all sorts of statistical jibberish, he has the Bucs with a 68.4 percent chance of making the playoffs.
Does mean it is an absolute the Bucs will make the playoffs? Of course not. It does, however, suggest the Bucs as a franchise are certainly on the upswing.

A lot of Falcon fans believe they have as good if not better chance at the playoffs then the Bucs. It’s still early, but barring a serious injury to TB, I don’t see how we can’t be playing in late January. Well, that and COVID-19.

I am certainly more hopeful that the Bucs will make the playoffs than in the last 10 years. The only things stopping them are themselves.

@jb … “Well, that and COVID-19.” And therein lies the biggest concern JB, especially after seeing the Titans & Vikings have to close their facilities, for awhile at least, because of COVID precautions. When I look at what the NHL went through just to have the Stanley Cup playoffs, I’m not sure the NFL could pull that off (it’d have to be on a much bigger scale if the current situation persists).
Kudos to the NFL & its various teams for even getting this far (albeit without fans), but the Titans & Vikings situations just showed how tenuous this whole thing can be. Only 1 of many reasons to hope & pray that we can find effective treatments & vaccines quickly IMO.

I can’t compare the last year and this year with Arians to the lost decade.
I do not worship the history gods. Lets be real!
People remember who we have as players under Arians and who we had as players in the lost decade. I really don’t need to remind you about the coaching staff and schemes of the past.

All these projections & rankings amuse me……sure we have a chance…..until we don’t.
Let’s just focus on winning Sunday.
As far as Covid is concerned….I’m quite sure that the NFL will do everything it can to keep it’s $5 billion dollar season going.

The only thing that can stop the Bucs is the Bucs themselves. The defense is definitely playoff caliber. The offense shows signs but hasn’t put together a consistent 4 quarters of football yet. If they can do that, watch out NFL.

This “loosing decade” got all Bucs fans impregnated with negativity. I feel you. I’ve been here too. But in reality, this year is different. I sense it , I feel it, I see it. I’m riding this wagon untill the wheels fall off , if they do. I the wheels don’t fall off, then look out world, here we come! …..again this year feels real, and I’m rolling with it. F@CK NEGATIVITY!!..when you think positive, great things happens!!
