Over/Under Brady Throwing For 4,000?

August 12th, 2020

Mr. 4,000?

Last year the Bucs had 5,000 yards passing. It easily was the best in Bucs history and one of the best passing performances in NFL history.

So what will happen this year?

Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is no longer in Tampa Bay (and park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring quarterback Tom Brady is in Tampa Bay) for two reasons:

Jameis had a lot of picks and his agent’s contract demands were outrageous.

Joe has not heard one Bucs official, from the combine, where Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians openly slobbered over Brady, to the present say he expects Brady, 43, to match or surpass 5,000 yards passing, though he has before (2011).

So, can Brady throw for 4,000 yards? This was a topic recently on Colin Cowherd’s FS1 show.

“He’s thrown for 4,000 yards in eight of nine years,” Cowherd said. “Brady threw for 4,000 yards last year and get this: He had no tight end. He had no deep threat. Edelman had drops last year. And they had no fullback, no running game. So he was often throwing on third-and-long and got to 4,000 yards.

“This is easy. He will throw for 4,000 yards.”

Well, with the receivers Brady has, it’s hard to believe he won’t at least toy with 4,000.

There is nothing one can gleam with any degree of certainty from team-generated highlight video clips from an underwear football practice. Just no way. Those highlights are maybe 8-10 throws from, what, 100-throw practice? And most are not even plays, just guys running routes against air.

But what has jumped out at Joe is Brady’s precision. And Joe actually saw Mike Evans grab a short pass and hustle up the right sideline. Haven’t seen that too often, practices or games.

With all the receiving weapons, Joe is going to guess Brady will break 4,000. However, Joe is willing to bet the YAC yards for receivers spikes this season.

    With a full season…….Ovah!!!!

  2. SB Says:

If you haven’t set your team back with 35 T.O.s then you don’t Need to throw for 5,000 yards to win.

  3. Bucsfan951 Says:

Don’t care! I just want the Bucs to be relevant again. Don’t care how we get there.

    It’s that simple…

  4. Sport Says:

    Fantasy stats = vanity stats

If he throws for 6k or 7k does that make the team better?

If he throws for 3k and we make it to the dance, does that make our team worse?

    Duh!

Only those on record as what were once Bucs Fans (Stray Dog, One-Ill and C-House) hope our QB fails, the Bucs to struggle and everyone gets fired just so they can be right. It’s beyond the pale.

    In BA I Trust!

  5. NDog is an idiot Says:

sB and Sport are right on!!! Junk yards and catch up TD’s will not be needed as long as we can keep Brady healthy! Around 15 turnovers compared to 35 will do Wonders!!

    …………..

Tight work on renaming the trolls of JBF!

  8. Elias Says:

There is one item I’m very confident about. All Brady cares about is winning. He is smart and knows his way to victory. When you play any sport i feel winning is the only thing!:)

  9. Clean House Says:

For all of you grass is greener JW haters…
    Enjoy the UNDER!

    Then check yo sheet!!!

    In BS I laugh….

  11. Clean House Says:

    Peyton, what are your thoughts?

“Arians was my coach when I threw those 28 interceptions as a rookie. He didn’t put that in his book, I don’t think, as the QB Whisperer, but he was my coach. To me, he’s got to be a part of those 28 picks. It can’t all just be me.”

  12. Mike Says:

28 as a rookie……. or 30 as a 5th year player, yeah totally the same.

  13. Stanglassman Says:

Payton Manning had 100 Ints his first 5 years in the league. Jameis had 88.

Not that Clean H needs anyone to defend him but I understood that he was comparing both QBs first season in BAs system.

  14. Mike Says:

Tell you what, if Brady throws 28+ ints this year, I will eat my shoe.

  15. Bucsfanman Says:

With the weapons we have, it’s hard to imagine he won’t surpass 4,000 yards.

That said, this is one of the most ridiculous conversations EVER. There is only ONE relevant stat in football…WINS. Fussing over yards is childish and petty.

How about this for a retort to the 4,000 yard question:
Who has the most WINS of any QB in the NFL?

A better “over/under” argument might be 10 wins.

  16. BucEmUp Says:

    Easily take the over

When you look at them back-to-back, the absurdity of these descriptions is mind-numbing…..

  18. Oneilbucs Says:

clean house stanglassman these people hate facts the only thing that they look for is a scapegoat . If we don’t win this year they will find another player to blame for every lost and I can tell you it want be Brady .

  19. buc15 Says:

    NDOG….I mean Clean House……com’on Bruh

  20. Bucsfan951 Says:

Yeah but did Peyton eat his hand shaped like a W before the game?

I know it looks as if his mom ate paint chips while she was pregnant with him but I don’t recall any eating of the hand….

  21. All lives matter Says:

I think Brady will reach 5000 and put the Winston hype to bed with half as many TO’s

  22. Youngbucs Says:

Jamies missed gms because of injuries and suspensions. Trust me he left a lot of potential ints on the table 😂😂😂

  23. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs bucs😭😭😭😭ain’t no scapegoating. The Bucs did what you supposed to do at every position look for upgrades. So what he not gone be here the next 10 year who cares. This not fantasy this real life people’s jobs on the line. How many regimes is Winston supposed to survive with his poor play. Get real bruh winston would have been a bad investment for the Bucs. He might be a good 1 for another team. But I’m telling you he got to play better ain’t no other team gon allow him to consistently throw those ints. He was our pick not theirs so the rope is shorter ain’t gonna be no keep waiting on potential. That’s the straight truth it’s on him he talk it can he walk.

  24. chris L Says:

i dont care if he throws for 3000 yards as long as we are winning. we prop up yards on offense as if that is so significant. if this team is winning in games and not getting behind, we wont have as many yards because we wont be playing catchup and that is fine with me

  25. NDog is an idiot Says:

Clean House might wanna clean JayMiss’s jizz off his chin!! Clean House and NDog bought to get into a cat fight over JayMiss real soon

  26. Oneilbucs Says:

youngbucs I don’t know how Jamies career is going to end up . But what I do know is he can play . If Jamies gets a real chance and New Orleans he is going to beat us for the next 10 years .Because he won’t have to try and win all by himself .I’ve seen Jamies score and the defense gives up a touchdown on the next drive . We have seen that a lot . Plus he didn’t have a threat in the back field so teams just sit back in deep zones and wait . But now he’s with a team that can run the ball and you just can’t key on one guy because you have to watch the running game . And they have a defense that can stop teams from scoring .

  27. Mike Says:

But can JW stop scoring for the other team?

  28. Youngbucs Says:

Mike that’s a good question 1 that oneil and many others don’t want to acknowledge.

  29. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

If the Saints offense is a better fit for Jameis and his stats improve, good for him. Over the 5 years here with multiple offenses, it wasn’t good enough, or he would still be here, right?? We can agree to disagree, but saying anything negative about Tom Brady’s ability is simply ignorant.

A mistake would be not having a future QB waiting in the wings.

  30. Oneilbucs Says:

74 bucfan Brady looked bad the pass 2 years he had a good defense and and a good runningback the superbowl year with Sony Mitchell . And what happened last year when he got hurt Brady looked bad .

  31. Oneilbucs Says:

Bucfan51 You talk about his mother now ??? Lol lol 😆🤣 the hate is real and the bad thing about is his GPA is more likely higher than what yours is . The guy had a scholarship at Stanford University he could have went to any college in the country on a ecademics alone . But Ryan Fitzpatrick is trash and all gave been but he play on teams because he went to Harvard and every body claimed how smart he is because he went to Harvard . But Jamies is dumb I know why he’s a black man and Fitzpatrick is white . If you notice I have never heard no one call a white quarterback dumb since I been watching Football since the mid 80s. Even when it’s a quarterback they don’t like regardless how bad they play they never called them dumb . They hate Baker Mayfield but they never called him dumb . That’s why I root for him to be successful because of the racism he face just like all of brothers do playing quarterback .

  32. Dapostman Says:

Can he throw for 4000 yards?

If Tom Brady DOESN’T throw for 4,000 yards then that will be a story.
