Mike Evans Will Step Up

August 28th, 2020

New honors

Wait a minute? Step up? How can a guy who is on a path for the Pro Football Hall of Fame possibly “step up?”

Here’s how:

Former Pro Bowl running back and current NFL Network analyst Maurice Jones-Drew decided to pick a handful of players who will experience career highs this year.

Evans, who is already very familiar with the Pro Bowl, will advance to the next level, MJD believes, and he will be an All-Pro receiver this fall.

Evans has been a dominant receiver in this league since he was drafted, recording 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first six seasons (something only he and Hall of Famer Randy Moss have done). The thing is, Evans hasn’t achieved the notoriety of other top wideouts primarily because the Bucs haven’t been relevant. Seriously — Evans has experienced one winning season. But it feels as if that’s all about to change with Tom Brady in town. I expect Evans to embrace everything that comes with catching passes from the six-time Super Bowl champion. And with five prime-time games on the schedule, Evans will no longer fly under the radar, instead getting the chance to showcase his abilities in the national spotlight weekly. There are a lot of mouths to feed in the Bucs’ offense, but Evans will get his targets — and, finally, the recognition he deserves.

Joe is saving prediction about Evans for a near-future edition of the “Ira Kaufman Podcast.”

Joe has maintained that if Evans continues his stellar play, he will be on his way to Canton. He is easily the Bucs’ best player (yes, even with park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady, foot-rubbing tight end Rob Gronkowski, linebacker Lavonte David and defensive tackle Vita Vea).

Evans, you could argue, is a superstar in his prime.

Joe says: “Evans, you could argue, is a superstar in his prime.”
    Jaymiss says: “No arguement here.”

  2. 813bucboi Says:

not a peep about BAs “take action” speech huh joe….your silence speaks volumes…..very disappointed but not surprised…
GO BUCS!!!! Does Joe write about social issues here? No. Does Joe talk about social issues on podcasts? No. Does Joe write about all the charity work that Bruce Arians and his wife do? No. Do players and coaches and the Bucs ask Joe to write about these things? No. –Joe

  3. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

We will quickly know how much Evan has improved with the Bucs first game of the season against the Saints and Marshon Lattimore, who shutdown Evan last year.

  4. Paul Says:

    HEY JOE-

    park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady

Does feedback matter to you or is your obsession with bad-mouthing the GOAT and being childish take precedence over all? 1) Joe cannot and does not care much about reader feedback since Joe gets praised and blasted for nearly everything here. Joe isn’t a politician who cares about polling data and tries to cater to the masses based on which way the wind blows. Joe would rather get a real job than worry about who likes/hates what’s written. 2) Joe doesn’t use that string before Brady every time. A quick search of the archives might show it’s 50 percent. 3) It’s neither meant as disrespectful, nor does Joe feel any disrespect. –Joe

Who ever you are your a jerk. Your park violating nonsense just shows how juvenile you are.

One of Joe’s writing style demonstrates a rather juvenile need for attention. He would be the one wearing the lampshade at an adult party. Seems like he’s still all butt-hurt his 5000yd homie got shown the door at One Buc. Rather than show the respect a six time World champion should command he chooses to slander and sully the GOAT. Shameful. This Buc fan is beside himself with joy that Tom Brady wears a Buccaneer uniform.

JimBuc, unfortunately Joe is still of the opinion this site was built on “the fan’s take”, so he thinks juvenile stuff is how fans think. In 2020. It’s a character and an outdated one at that. And since the site is fairly successful, he thinks he shouldn’t change or grow either, which is…actually a *real* juvenile thought.

The name of the Website in of itself lowers the expectations of the quality of content on your site. Then the disrespect shown towards the GOAT-that we are all pinching ourselves that he is now the Bucs QB-makes it hard to sit back and read article after article with that moniker you gave TB. WHY?? Who thinks it’s funny? Creative? Intelligent? No just Ignorant!

  5. Keith Rajotte Says:

I think it’s dam right disrespectfull and I’m a life long New England fan Tom Brady deserves respect even from Joe who ever he is I’m a big Brady fan now living in Florida also a Bucs fan Yes a lot has to do with Brady and Fro k coming but I been a fan before they came also and when we do Ok this year maybe great next year you will for sure be eating your nasty words when Brady has time with these players you will be looked at like a fool so please drop the Bad TB 12 BS it makes u look sad and SMALL

  6. Cannon Says:

Hi Paul and Keith. Ya’ll must be new here. Those tongue-in cheek prefixes have been a unique element of this site since it was first created.

It’s admirable that you take such a strong and consistent stand against them, but you are wasting your time and energy.

Obviously this site is very pro-Brady/Gronk.

  7. KYBUCFAN Says:

People are really into their feeling i see… Sheesh people, lighten up!!!

  8. Go Bucs 72 Says:

Mike Evans is the best offensive player in Bucs history.

  9. james west Says:

i am a big fan of, adjective slinging, nominative, possessive, and objective personal pronoun wielding, grammatically stimulating, slang spewing, joe bucs fan, go bucs

  10. SlyPirate541 Says:

Go Bucs 72 … Best offensive player in Bucs history? Had to check on that one.

Wow! Evans is the all time Bucs leader in every WR stat (receptions, yards, TD). The only record he doesn’t hold is games played. Which makes the other records all the more impressive.

Can we put him in the ring of honor while he’s still playing?

  11. Curry-Winston Says:

It’s ok Joe….Jamies will have his payback…good luck to the bucs this year btw…I’m glad he’s wit my home team tho, gives me reason 2 root for the Saints again. Wouldn’t it be ironic if Winston sees the field against the bucs….I’m honestly a Winston fan and I feel there is no way Winston doesn’t start the 2nd time we play y’all… I said it here first, whether dats a real Drew Brees injury or a fake one…It’s no way Sean Payton it’s gonna let Drew continue to underthrow or checkdown when Emmanuel Sanders streaking wide open down the field and continue to embarrass his legacy ..Get ready for the QB controversy folks…then Winston gives BA a real Butt kickin for the “no risk it no biscuit” bs he wouldn’t dare bring around TB 12

  12. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Curry – Winston; I would welcome that with open arms. Winston vs Brady, and you think Winston prevails? FYI – we true Bucs fans have watched closely what Winston could do for 5 years, and I’m a Noles fan. Wish you the best with holding out hope that Winston becomes elite.

  13. Buczilla Says:

Add Maurice to the small list of national writers that I like.

I’m just as tired of reading people b!tch about the Joe’s intro for Brady as they are of seeing it. No one is forced to read the damn thing. Just skip over it like I do and get to the meat of the article. Geez, I don’t even like 100% of what my own wife does, so just ignore the what triggers you and get to the good stuff. The world is just filled with crazy old grannies all of a sudden that are hypersensitive to any little thing and go apesh!t if you disagree in the slightest.

*Yes I know that I can ignore the comments about the Joe’s intro for Brady, but I felt like b!tching myself today. 😜

  14. JimBuç2 Says:

@Eddie. Thanks for the JimBuc2 repost. The resident juvee writer at JoeBucsFan has even greater contempt for nationally venerated sports scribe Peted King, devoting not less than a half page of vile invective for a respected columnist that enjoys wide readership.
This is funny for a few reasons. First, are you aware that Joe has been invited to speak at King’s NFL Combine fan Q&A/meetup in recent years? Joe has zero contempt for King personally and Joe has been adding those compound adjectives since the very first one 12 years ago? Joe talks to King every year. Joe doesn’t care what King earns, and Joe respects much of King’s work. Like King, Joe is in the entertainment business. Like Joe, King wants his opinions discussed and debated and scrutinized respectfully. Joe’s not in a contest with anyone, even though you seem to think Joe thinks that way.–Joe
I do not doubt that Peter King’s reputation, not to mention compensation, far exceeds that of JoeBucFans’s ego-driven, adjective loving writer. Guy’s arm is probably in a cast from patting his own back.

  15. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

There are some real girly men up here who are all sensitive about what Joe says. Why don’t you goyls go to bucnation or buccaneers official website so your sensitivities aren’t violated anymore??? Noobies ain’t no joke!

  16. lambchop Says:

Apart from the Bucs not being relevant, Mike Evans has struggled at times with CBs in our own division. He has to be unguardable on a consistent basis to get on the Mike Thomas and Julio Jones train. I love me some ME, but it’s true that Lattimore and Bradberry have shut him down at times. At least Bradberry is with the Giants now.

All Pro WRs rarely get shut down.

  17. lambchop Says:

And it’s even more glaring because the Saints and Falcons haven’t had a WR2 on the level of Chris Godwin. So, all the attention is on Thomas and Jones from the D.

  18. August 1976 Buc Says:

5 years after Mike Evans retires, he is going to be wearing one of those Gold Jackets. 1,000 yards every year so far. Legit HOF I guess that makes at least 3 current players will be in the HOF, with one wearing a Bucs jersey. BTW the US is a free country and any reader here can start their own Bucs blog if you so choose, and write whatever you want to. Maybe you would even do well I do not know. As I said before to you (Joe’s), you are not perfect, but who is lol. In my opinion This is by far the best site for Bucs information since I became a fan in August 1976 when they played their first preseason game. That is just my opinion and nothing personal to anyone. We are all free to have one. At least one moniker is going to take a hiatus as long as Brady is playing QB, “The Den of Depression” It will be put out to pasture lol At least until Brady retires, after that who knows lol Another good thing about Brady is he is a pretty good bridge QB till the Bucs can hopefully find a stud. It is fun to be a Bucs fan again after 17 years, since the last time they hoisted the Lombardi. GO BUCS!!!!!

  19. Kobe Faker Says:

    “Hammy Evans

How many games will he play this year?

13 games and getting paid $19 million

Kobe is not a great mathematician but he has sold plenty of weed in the trailer park corners

That is over 1 million per year

Because of TB12 lack of arm strength and lack of balls to wait for Hammy

Mike Evans will have his worst staticall year

    Under 1000 yards”

    Kobe Ganja Faker

  20. Kobe Faker Says:

“^ under $1 million per year”

    Kobe Faker

  21. SufferingSince76 Says:

You complainers about the nicknames are becoming a bore. You sound like a bunch of current day shamers hassling everyone who doesn’t think like you. You bring up and quote the nicknames as much as Joe does.

  22. Curry-Winston Says:

@74 bucs fan- Well I’m a believer in Jameis, I’ve come to like the bucs because of Winston but I by no means am true fan…that being said I do wish the bucs well, except for when they play a Winston-led Saints team. This I feel was the best move Winston could have made, I seriously can see the difference when he drops back…he’s holding the safety almost every throw. This one simple fundamental flaw will increase his decision making a ton…along with better online protection and Alvin Kamara and yea Winston could easily become elite material..But until then we will be holding the clipboard, taking notes but Jameis will prevail!! Just think about how fake BA is tho..what ever happened to “no risk it no biscuit”…..maybe because Tb12 ain’t risking sh&t and told BA that crap ain’t gon fly…literally lol

  23. unbelievable Says:

No one wants to point out that Evans has in fact had one winning season?

Sadly, just one though. Hope that changes this year. Go Bucs!
