Laying Off The Kool-Aid

August 6th, 2020

Ex-Bucs QB talks Tom Brady.

Yesterday, Joe brought a video to readers’ attention of FS1 sports personality Colin Cowherd leading a bandwagon of folks thinking the Bucs will make the Super Bowl this year.

One Cowherd colleague at FS1 isn’t climbing on board.

FS1 and SiriusXM Radio talking head Nick Wright doesn’t see a whole lot of changes for the Bucs, except perhaps a lesser offense than last year. That’s right.

Wright, in a PFF tribe video, was asked if the Bucs would have the No. 1 offense this year. He recoiled at such a thought.

“I would be shocked if they had the No. 1 offense,” Wright said. “… I am more bearish on Brady. I clearly think he is on the downslope. And I think the Bucs, record-wise, are not going to be drastically improved from last year.”

Former Tampa Bay quarterback Bruce Gradkowski didn’t exactly buy in to Wright’s words about Brady, but he too thinks the Bucs’ offense will take a step back, offering that the Bucs ought to be a “top-10” offense.

For background, the Bucs had the No. 1 passing offense last year and even with a woeful run game, were good enough to be a No. 3 offense overall.

“He’s going to have a good offensive line around him,” Gradkowski said of Brady. “He has weapons around. I don’t see him being the No. 1 offense overall this season but definitely a top-10.”

Unless Brady ages before our very eyes, Joe just cannot see the Bucs being the No. 10 offense this year. If RoJo is as improved as Bucco Bruce Arians claims he is, and with the addition of Shady McCoy, just how are defenses supposed to stop this team short of turnovers?

Before N-Dog takes this string over I’d like to say…
General Brady is going to know how to use the weapons at his disposal with a strategy twenty years in the making.
Provided our line can keep him standing, this offense is going to break records.
    Strap in because here comes…
    The Perfect Storm!

  2. Clean House Says:

JW3 NFL leader in total offense, also #1 in passing, passing yards per game, #2 in TDs- led your Buccaneers to the #3 Total offense despite injury, foolish penalties, below average kicking, garbage run game, dumb coaching, and injured out of action receivers when in mattered.

    Check yo sheet
    Read it and weep

    Grass is always greener?
    We shall see suckas

  3. Youngbucs Says:

Forget rankings just win that’s what it’s about right.

  4. Clean House Says:

And he did all that while throwing 30 pics and 6 pic 6’s. So therefore, he would be unstoppable once he sorts through that- and he’s only 26

Don’t worry now we got a guy with his AARP card who can sit on the front porch with grandpa BS and Old Tom Moore. We also got an unretired class clown enjoying the Tampa Bay retirement plan.

  5. Youngbucs Says:

Clean house #1 in ints #pick 6s #1 in points off turnovers. And #1in killing team morale.

  6. Tampabuscsbro Says:

So after 5 years we are just supposed to keep waiting til he gets the inerceptions under control?

Also I love how people cannot be happy we have brady.

Also Joe stop pouring the Kool aid for the chicken littles.

  7. Looking at You! Says:

Well clean house, Winston Always admitted it was HIS FAULT and that IT IN DEED WAS ON HIM…
Drug addicts also admit they are drug addicts but THAT doesn’t change the FACT that they WILL INDEED be needing and looking for drugs every single day.

Just a comparison but why would we be better off keeping the guy who admits he loses the game and is a turn over machine?

In other words, like ALL ADDICTS I don’t see him changing his core losing ways as long as he continued to be in Florida.

Seems CLEAR that he needed a different environment to “Kick the habit” if you know what I mean. He DID have 5 years to improve himself as a Non Turn Over Machine ADDICT but his ADDICTION to turnovers and CONSTANT BAD DESICIONS ONLY GOT WORSE! Are you trying to sell us on the idea that he was great BECAUSE HE CONSTANTLY MADE BAD DESICIONS AND WAS ONLY GETTING WORSE? IT’S A “NO SALE” here.

Maybe you should pedal that on the AINT’S sites and see what they say….

Seems like YOU are a BUTT HURT WINSTON ADDICT. WHY DON’T YOU AND CHICKEN LITTLE I mean n dog take your ADDICTION ELSEWHERE…. Because if you’re honest with yourself, you’ll realize JUST HOW STUPID YOU SOUND… JERK OFF…

Take your drugs elsewhere. We’re no longer interested in KNOCK OFFS in case you didn’t notice. We decided to go with THE REAL DEAL. OK

  8. Tampabuscsbro Says:

If we look at Net value of offense. 33 TDs and 30 INTs doesn’t give you a whole lot of net value in offensive production. Granted people around here do not realize this and have extreme cognitive dissonance worse then anything I have ever seen around here.

  9. Tampabuscsbro Says:

  10. Looking at You! Says:

Listen, for ALL of the BUTT HURT WINSTON ADDICTS. I Really only need to make just ONE clear point… All of the 5 years in between is up to you…

Point Numero ONE ~ The first throw in a REAL GAME from Jameis Winston was a BONE HEADED AND DEFLATING INTERCEPTION!

Point Numero Two ~ The Last throw from Jameis Winston in a Buccaneers Uniform, 5 count them ALL 5 YEARS LATER was a BONE HEADED, HEART BREAKING, AND DEFLATING INTERCEPTION!

Now You tell me WHAT was going to change in year Numero 6?
No let me take that back and just say ~ NOT A DAMN THING was EVER GOING TO CHANGE!

Butt Hurt about it? Well then go get some creams and gently Shove it Way Up Your Arse and SHUT THE HELL UP! Become a MAN and Stop telling Everyone that you like it Up the your Butt! YOU ARE GROSS AND DISGUSTING! And Whatever You keep rubbing on Yourself in Front of All of us…. DUDE, You Smell as Bad as You look talking about Your man crush Jammie.

SERIOUSLY, WOW! Not exactly the sharpest butter knifes now are You.
Why don’t you try to be fans of a Real Team like the Buccaneers. Maybe get Yourself Cleaned Up. Understand WHAT IT MEANS TO BE RELEVANT FOR A CHANGE. You know, look good, Smell Great! Be GREAT! Instead of whatever else you people are trying to pedal to intelligent Adults just isn’t working in the ” REAL WORLD”

Take My word for it. It’s Damn AWESOME to be a Real Man and A BUCCANEERS FAN. Maybe you should try it sometime because You SURE don’t have anything to stay in your closet for anymore. Take a shower and come on over to a Real Team going places. Stop being a Puked Out, Nasty Smelling, Loser of a Parasite Piriah trying “Desperately” to be relevant. Come on over Where the Real Men ARE. Those MEN are WITH the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    GO BUCS!

  11. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I believe Winston will be one of the best in the league eventually…and I’m almost certain he will get a ring.

However, I’m not upset we now have Brady. Not one bit.

I do believe the Bucs need a follow-up plan though.

  12. Pewter Power Says:

A lot of people praised Winston because of yards not wins. the 6th ranked offense won the super bowl So why do we need the number one ranked offense?

  13. Clean House Says:

Looking at you has some clear issues regarding addiction and his own sexuality.
Lots of strange and disturbing metaphors and obvious projection.

Hey to each their own bud, but my take on JW is nowhere near as “creepy” as your posts.

    Sleep it off….

  14. Bucsfanman Says:

See, this is the part that some just can’t comprehend. Where you are ranked offensively has ZERO importance. Great, we threw the ball from here to Timbuktu! The result? Nada.
I would rather us be 30th and have the wins. And before you try to scold me, YES I do realize there is a correlation between offensive production and winning. My point being that a 3rd place offense was not a clutch/winning offense.
Brady won’t throw for 5,000 yards! Who cares?! That is not sustainable anyway, and lopsided to boot. He also will not turn the ball over at a high rate either.
I’ll trade “3 yards and a cloud of dust” for high-flying top 5 offense if it means we are winning.

  15. Roy T. Buford Says:

If I recall, of the top 5 QBs in total passing yards in the NFL last year, NONE of them made the playoffs. Oh, it was the poor D or the lack of run game you say. Well, 4 of the 5 were in the top 6 in the league in INTs, with Winston leading the way…by far.

  16. Boston Boy Says:

Wow… look at y’all. Tampa finally has something to talk about. You have a buzz to you. People/fans actually taking the time to argue over a blog. I’m envious. I remember when we Patriots Fans did that. Now we behave like man pretending he doesn’t know his girl if isn’t with another man when everyone else knows it. A 40 something Tom Brady is a huge upgrade over Winston. You have to be stupid and or more stupid not to see that. Y’all just snagged one of the belles of the ball. You got lucky. Ridevthe wave and be happy.

  17. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Bonzai, Winston easily had one of the best receiving squads in the NFL. I’d bert you agree there. As a turnover machine, he’s up there with guys like Rivers, Goff, Prescott, and Ryan, who also threw for a heap of yards last year. So what makes you think, after 5 years he will be the best in the league? How can he possibly be better than guys like Pat Mahomes? I just don’t see it. Were he two or three years n, maybe, but not only has he not improved, as time goes on he’s shown he won’t improve.

  18. Oneilbucs Says:

This is why if we don’t get to the superbowl this was a bad move to bring Brady in . All I’ve heard that every lost was Jamies fault so with Brady it’s a garoteain superbowl appearance . Remember Brady is going to make the defense a number 1 defense and Brady is going to make the offensive line like the Cowboys of the 90s . Brady is going to make Ro Jo a 1,800 yards rusher . Brady going to give us the best kicker in the NFL . And Brady going to us the best kick returning in the NFL as well . This is the mindset of our fan base 1 guy is going to make all this happen . This is why the Bucs has been at the bottom for over 10 years and yall still don’t understand that defense wins championships .. I know Patrick Mahomes gets all the credit but their defense was good last year especially in the playoffs they stepped up when they needed to and they ran the ball when they wanted to .

  19. Oneilbucs Says:

Roy T Patrick Mahomes went to a team that was going to the playoffs . And he has a waaaaay better coach than what we have . And he has a better team . His coach is not like Bruce Arians who believes my way or the highway . His coach puts him in position to win by putting his playbook around his hold team what they do best . That’s the difference between KC and Tampa .

  20. Bucsfan951 Says:

Clean House says “Check yo sheet
    Read it and weep”

Mmm, I hate to burst your bubble playa but there aren’t too many people that are “weeping” about JW not being on this team. People like yourself are the ones weeping that he isn’t here anymore.

You might want to check yo sheet again.

  21. Wayne PEREZ Says:

I was a big Winston fan but after 5years especially the last 2 games he had to go
He will not win a super bowl as a starter aka Jeff George!!

  22. SlyPirate541 Says:

Of the Top 10 offenses, 5 made the playoffs. The Super Bowl champs were #6.

Of the Top 10 teams in turnover differential, 8 made the playoffs.

Wanna know why JW isn’t here anymore?

  23. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs nobody has every said winston was responsible for every loss. Your argue means are weak because you make stuff up.

  24. Youngbucs Says:

And Brady doesn’t have to make someone rush for 1800 yds lol. He simply has to do his job to the best of his abilities. Protect the football score points I don’t care how many yds he throws for. Some of y’all be exaggerating with silly talk to try to prove a point.

  25. Sport Says:

JW Stat Lovers – please take edify yourselves by looking at JW Situatuonal Football stats. Bottom 3rd percentile nearly every year of his career.

Like I’ve always said JW is prolific….at
Off field issues (Multiple Incidents including jumping on a table saying crude things, harassment and rape)
    Creepy rah rah speeches
    Suspensions (college and pro)
High potential of getting thrown out of the league (due to his past idiocy)
Putting teammates in bad situations (eg getting ME suspended)
Apologizing – D Brooks quote “He’s too good at apologizing” Look it up.
Losing the room – his teammates no longer respected him
    Getting coaches fired

That’s why he had to go. He did all of this to himself. Notice o didn’t say losing football games. You know why, because it’s a team game. No 1 overall picks are and should e held to a higher standard. His performance is that of Ryan Fitzpatrick in the NFL. Heck our offense was better with Fitz than JW.

It sucks for every Buc fan that it didn’t work out. But you have to be daft to think he was going to suddenly turn it around in yr 6 and become a great situational football player.

    In BA I Trust!

  26. DoooshLaRue Says:

    I believe it was 7 pick 6s, not 6.
I mean please, don’t short change the Soiled Messiah.

  27. SteveK Says:

    Winston apologists are turnover blind.

America’s turnover machine was rightfully let go in FA.

  28. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Well stated!

JW apologists will chafe at comparing him to Fitzmagic because clearly JW has more talent…but in terms of results are they not comparable?

  29. BillyBucFan Says:

Looks like I’m gonna be blowin up Nick’s twitter feed after this season.

  30. Buc1987 Says:

    He’s gone!!!!

Let it go and be a Bucs fan.

  31. Buc1987 Says:

    Looking at You! Says:

Now You tell me WHAT was going to change in year Numero 6?

    Answer : Same old shyte.

Are Ndog…Big Hog or Clean House going to answer the question?

  32. Oneilbucs Says:

youngbucs the only thing I’ve ever heard from most of yall was it’s Jamies fault . I seen yall blame him for the Greenbay game and we was winning late in the 4th quarter and Jamies never saw the field after we scored the td to put us in the lead . And I have seen on here that Brady will make the hold team better . And that’s just not the truth ain’t no one guy is going to make a hold team good .

  33. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs like I said you say the team is so horrible. But if you’re realistic in your thinking you would acknowledge a better QB would have taken us to the playoffs last year I can list many QBs who could have done so.

  34. Oneilbucs Says:

youngbucs not with that defense bro we were ranked at the bottom in passing we gave up the most points.

  35. Youngbucs Says:

Ok dude you refuse to acknowledge or QB was flawed. Kc defense wasn’t better than ours but ok. You got excuses for everything you’re a straight fool if you don’t think we’re in the playoffs last year with better QB play if winston played better last year were in the playoffs easy.

  36. Youngbucs Says:

But then again you’re the same dude who told me I’m stupid for believing QB is the most important position. You’re I weird person you need help.

  37. BigHog Says:

BUC1987: QB’ s in this league mature, grow, and become better at different times times. I would have expected Mr.5000 to come to camp this season with ball security and turnovers being the most important parts of his game to work on!! I expect he will continue to try and get better at his craft, I don’t see him wanting to hold a clipboard for any length of time…He will bounce back!!

  38. BigHog Says:

    Play-offs…with better field goal kicker!

  39. Oneilbucs Says:

youngbucs The quarterback position is the most dependable positions on the field . The eagles won a superbowl with Nick Foles and what happened when he left Philadelphia . What happened to Matt Casell when he left the Patriots . It’s a proven fact that if you can’t play defense or run the ball when you need to you are going to lose . What happened when Drew Brees didn’t have a running game how did those season look . Are what about the Rogers and the Packers with no running game he missed the playoffs twice . Defense will for ever be more important than a offense . I’ve seen good defense and average offense can win a superbowl but a good offense with a bad defense you will not win regardless who the quarterback is . Dan Marino was a prime example of that and Moon and others .

  40. Youngbucs Says:

Man shut up Nick Foles was playing lights out during that run your arguments the weakest on here.

  41. Youngbucs Says:

It’s a proven fact when you turn the ball over you gone lose. You got it backwards you live in Winston fantasy land your brain is fried.

  42. Oneilbucs Says:

youngbucs And also Wentz was a mvp until he got hurt and you can say week all you want I just bring out facts . What happened to Nick Foles in Jacksonville ? Why couldn’t he win even when he was healthy ? What about Andrew Luck when his team was bad a round him ? He threw a lot of interceptions and he fumble the ball and the media blame every body but him . And you will blame his team also and give him a pass to just like the rest of the media . You are a national media sheep . What every they say you believe .

  43. Buczilla Says:

Replace an average quarterback prone to making spectacular plays (both good and bad) with the best ever and these morons think our offense will be worse?!?. Brady is still a top 10 quarterback and I’m guessing that he snubbed Nick and Bruce for an autograph when they were kids or something. That, or they need to lay off the weed or booze before showing up for work. Reading these stories makes me happy that I avoid these talking head shows like the plague.
