“He’s Pretty Much Entrenched In It”

The Deuce

Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Griffin has picked up a lot of fans over his many years in Tampa.

That’s what happens with backup quarterbacks. Their mystique grows, especially as the main man struggles.

But Griffin seems locked in to that No. 3 QB role now after serving as the No. 2 all last season behind Jameis Winston.

Blaine Gabbert is a personal favorite of Bucco Bruce Arians, and he noted after practice today that Gabbert certainly is the guy behind Tom Brady after a full week of practices in pads.

“He’s pretty much entrenched in it,” Arians said of Gabbert, noting the 10-year veteran had a good day and knows the offense inside and out.

There’s no reason to think this will change, or that there’s any real competition.

If Tom Brady goes down, football gods forbid, it’s Gabbert in to save the Bucs. If that happens, hopefully he finds some Fitzmagic.

Eventually, Griffin’s going to another team where I think he’ll shine if give the opportunity.

If Gabbert ends up the QB due to injury, it’s safe to say this is a colossal failure.

Ryan is a smart guy, but in PS games has shown a lack of real arm strength.

We are doomed if Brady goes down.

What a great gig being Ryan Griffin. Get to be on an NFL football team, make great money, never break a real sweat.
