Confidence Boost

Exposes former teammate?

So yesterday Bucs backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert had very interesting things to say about Bucs passing targets.

Now Joe had heard that one prominent member of the Bucs offensive starters was fed up and done with Mr. Excitement, America’s Quarterback, Bowler Jameis Winston, when Jameis lied to the team about his hassle with an Arizona Uber driver and was slapped with a three-game suspension. Jameis lost a lot of trust from teammates with that stunt.

Those who regularly listen to the “Ira Kaufman Podcast” know who Joe is referring to. Joe could never confirm this rumor, though Joe’s source has never steered him wrong.

So last year Gabbert was Jameis’ backup and this year he No. 2 to park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Gabbert discussed the change in the demeanor in three guys who are expected to catch a lot of passes this fall.

“They’ve been doing a tremendous job,” Gabbert said of O.J. Howard, Scotty Miller and Justin Watson. “You see that confidence rise, you see their level of play rise just being more comfortable and confident in the system.

“Any time you’re learning a new system, a lot of the time you’re thinking and not just playing and reacting. Just going into the second year in this new offensive system for all those guys – O.J. [Howard], J-Wat (Justin Watson), Scooter (Scotty Miller) – they’re doing a tremendous job and Tom [Brady] is doing a great job building their confidence [and] getting them ready to play at a really high level of football. They’ve been making big plays all camp.”

So why wasn’t YouKnowWho able to build confidence and get his receivers ready to play? Joe thought this guy oozed so much leadership skills he even inspired the general manager?

Or were Bucs fans sold a bill of goods about Jameis just like the Bucs conned fans with the drumbeat of how hard of a worker Josh Freeman was. Even the guy who selected him has admitted on national radio Freeman himself wasn’t exactly married to the game.

Joe has concluded the last few months if a guy has to tell you he’s a leader, then he’s a poser instead.

What a GREAT ARTICLE!! Prop up JW and bad-mouth the GOAT at the same time.

Mr. Excitement, America’s Quarterback Pro Bowler Jameis Winston when Jameis lied to the team

and then the 50% of the time moniker according to the Archives-your words-not mine-

    park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

    Great STUFF JOE.

  2. Ron says Says:

One strong quality of being a leader is you yourself have to be going in a direction that others want to follow not just talk about the destination.

  3. Roy T. Buford Says:

“Or were Bucs fans sold a bill of goods about Jameis…”

“Joe has come to the conclusion the last few months if a guy has to tell you he’s a leader, he’s instead a poser.”

Agreed. Nothing so many of us have not said for years. I didn’t like Winston or Mariota use of the first overall pick. Winston was more NFL ready, but had too many question marks. The Bucs sold themselves on Winston because they desperately wanted a QB local folks (FSU fans in particular) could rally around, and they had to try to do something for business. They offered him the world, yes, putting weapons around him for years starting with receivers, and certainly tried with FAs, but Winston was still the same old turnover machine with very suspect character–the to me, eliminated all doubt with Uber. I gave him the benefit of the doubt on the FSU stuff as first, but decided I’d better never hear off him getting involved in THAT kind of behavior again off field or that woudl be it for any support for him staying on the team. And there he was, in the very first offseason period he had unsupervised, was out “at it again.” And yup, lied about it to those who rely on him most, and gave him the chance of 10 lifetimes.

No question the Glazers regret wasting the first overall pick on him. Whether he as really sorted his life out off the field is one question, and I hope he has…but all the way through last year, he was still clearly not a starting NFL QB.

Exactly correct. This is why I don’t talk about how great of a commenter I am. Lol.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

There is little doubt that lying to the team about the Uber “hassle” created a great distrust for Jameis with his teammates. And, when you lose trust for a leader, you lose respect and respect is essential.

  6. Bucsfan951 Says:

Was youknowwho a leader? I guess if that’s what you want to call him. I personally don’t think he was. He perhaps started off as a leader but lost his team.

Between the turnovers, suspension, fighting fitz for a starting job, stupid poems before games, eating his hands, dumb quotes in his post game interviews, and god knows what else we the people didn’t see, it’s apparent he had lost the teams and most importantly, the staffs confidence.

Call me a liar but there’s a reason “Mr 5k” is a backup and not a starter in this league.

THANK GOD THE CANCER IS GONE AND WE CAN BREATHE AGAIN!!!

  7. BucBrady Says:

    Meh.

Jameis has always been known as a great team leader LONNGG before the Bucs. Let’s not rewrite history please. Now, I agree, he may have lost the players–leadership only works if followed by on the field success, but let’s not pretend he hasn’t been considered a great leader for his entire football career.

JW was great to the Tampa community as well (even after he was let go). We can celebrate Tom while not denigrating the guy that came before.

    Do better.

  8. Sarasota Garey Says:

Well so far Scotty Miller is dropping everything for me on Madden, so I hope he makes alot of plays so his player rating will go up.

  9. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

That is just half of the story!!!!!!!!! It was pretty well known that players and coaches also “distrusted” and were disgusted with leak stories and planted stories that originated from jay-miss camp!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And is it really “selling a bill of goods” if the sheep are lined up are the corner ready to buy it all??????????????

Funny story about Jfro-6 pak, it was July and my Brother and Sister in-law had their first child at St Joseph’s in at that time was the new wing. I was visiting and they were on the 4th floor that over looked the Buc”s parking lot. The lot was slap full, and this fancy car comes zooming in and parks like a maniac!!!!!! Out jumps jfro in slacks and a shirt half on and sprints to the building!!!!!!!!! It was just before 10:30!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bucs were practicing on the field!!!!!!!!!!! Talk Show Host mark dominik is on the radio talking about jfro work effort and how he was “always first in the building”

You want to know why the Buc’s have been a first class clown show???? That is because there have been two first class Clowns as GM’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. SteveK Says:

I remember some pansy-arse, wannabe “leader” ceding advice to other players: “I’m a leader. Just have fun-that’s what it’s all about. Sorry, Ben (mid-sack on MNF)”.

I strive to be as kind, loving and successful as our former #93, but I’m glad his attitude is no longer on our team. It weakened us.

  11. Bobby M. Says:

I’ve said this many times….at the pro level, everyone in that locker room has an ego. These guys are the best of the best and the expectation is to deliver at a high level. It gets old being held accountable while another player who’s playing substantially worse keeps getting a pass and excuses. Now pile on the self belief from Winston that he’s truly an all time great…..that would wear teammates down.

  12. Stanglassman Says:

You know who sent both his WRs to the probowl and got both his #3 WRs the last two seasons fat offseason contracts. I get it that Jameis is the new scapegoat since Gerold is gone. Blaming him for not developing rookie wrs when the guys all but said they didn’t know what the hell they were doing last year.

  13. SteveK Says:

    Realist,

Helluva point about the planted rulers and FSU Honks will eat up and use it to say the Bucs are inferior.

The turnovers, decision making, and time it took to get the ball out were all big issues for me. Sprinkle in some off the field shenanigans that left him 1 suspension ways from a year long sentence- and it was easy to not resign.

It speaks volumes that a large sect of FSU QB Fans were saying that he would get paid, and just watch. He’s a #3 QB and didn’t backup anywhere? What’d we miss?

  14. SteveK Says:

    Stanglassman,

    Come on dude.

Fitzmagic put up the same numbers as Jameis- with less turnovers a few years ago.

Josh McCown and Mike Glennon threw 12 TDs to Evans his rookie year, and he got the 1st of his 6-straight thousand yard seasons while Jameis was in the ACC.

Wake up. Our targets are ballers. You will
See this fall what efficient QB play can do, and I’m excited.

  15. Killian Says:

    Fournette?

  16. ben Says:

So why was Winston America’s qb ?? (asking for a friend)

  17. Destinjohnny Says:

Comparing jameis to 12 is like comparing Led Zeppelin to a rick Springfield.

  18. SteveK Says:

    Killian,

I’d take a flyer on Fournette if the price was right/Brady wants him.

  19. JGhotier Says:

Jameis taught us how to eat our fingers….and alphabet soup, so let’s not act like we benefit from having Jameis (even if DeSean Jackson wasn’t receptive of the lesson that day)

  20. David Webb Says:

Yea, I can do without the daily disrespect for Tom Brady with all the nonsense you put before his name. You can knock that off anytime.

  21. miken Says:

…..”Joe has concluded the last few months if a guy has to tell you he’s a leader, then he’s a poser instead.”… that is 100% accurate. TB and guys like that don’t talk about their stats or leadership ect…

  22. lambchop Says:

Isn’t it interesting that Tom Brady, when asked about Brate, said that even though he was in the AFC, he had his eyes on great players around the league like Cam. What he didn’t say was that he had his eye on Brate cuz the Patriots wanted Brate, if I remember correctly. They were looking to trade for Brate.

  23. Half-Caucked Jeudy Says:

    poor Paul is so lost

  24. Half-Caucked Jeudy Says:

Ben, don’t you know what sarcasm is?

  25. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

100% the bucs should take a flyer on Leonard Fournette, he is better than any buc rb on the current roster and you can get him for pennies on the dollar

  26. ManzielMadness Says:

Agree on Fournette, call JAX up and offer a 6th. Don’t let him hit waivers.

  27. Sarasota Garey Says:

Do we even have enough cap space for Fournette? You would have to pick him up on a veteran minimum unless Jacksonville took the cap hit.

  28. El Buco Realisto Says:

The sheep and the joes just need to chalk this up to what they should have learned long ago!!!!!!!! In fact, it is exactly what The Buc’ Realist told them years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better sitdown sheep, and enjoy the much requested “Realist Repost”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    “The Buc Realist Says:
    June 22nd, 2018 at 8:36 pm
This is a huge problem for the Bucs!!!!! Like joe hinted at earlier, how do you trust this guy!!!! I know that there will be players in the locker room that won’t!!!!!!!!!! Whether it be about the incident, or the plea deal or the cover up!!!!!

The sage can write all the stand up straight and buckle your chin strap stories he wants!!!!! How does this help the Bucs!!!!!!

Do you think the offense will be sharp when after the Bye week, JW3 has played 1 game in two months??????????

This season is heading towards disaster and will likely Clean out One Buc!!! So Joes, say goodbye this season to the older vets that likely will be caught in the new “Purge”!!!!!!!!!!”

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Bucsfan951 Says:

No on Fournette. Bucs already have enough resources in that position. 2nd rd pick, 3rd round pick, shady. It’s enough. Save the 4 million

    GO FIND A RELIABLE KICKER!!!

  30. Killian Says:

The Jags cut him this morning.

  31. Smashsquatch Says:

Brady leads with action, Winston tried to lead through speech.

  32. ManzielMadness Says:

    @Killian

There’s an article on profootballtalk, that explains much better than I ever could, which states that we could still trade for fournette today before the move becomes official at 4pm.

  33. 813bucboi Says:

gotta hop on fournette….vaugh aint showing nothing…rojo might get banged up and shady still fumbling….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  34. Owlykat Says:

We don’t have cap space for Fournette and he would be a malcontent in the locker room. Vaughn will be an able backup once he truly learns this Offense.

  35. Formerly Tampa 2 Says:

Jags tried to trade him to us a few months ago, and the cost to the Bucs would have been 1mil. The bucs turned them down fr some reason. I thought he would have been our “missing piece”. So something is wrong with him it seems.

  36. gotbbucs Says:

Go watch the infamous “Eating a W” speech. Look at the faces around him and tell me those guys had any thought in their mind that Winston was anything more than a clown in a football outfit.

That butt head would give those ridiculous pep talks and walk out on the field and immediately give the ball away.

  37. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah Joe we were sold a bill of goods. I trust your source knows their stuff. That’s means our QB list trust of his TE and one of his biggest weapons.

On top of that I’ve also heard you speculate he lost trust in a couple of our defensive players. You cant lead nothing without trust. It doesn’t shock me that Suh signed here the second we signed Brady. Had it been Winston I’m certain Suh has no intrest. I’m betting the same with JPP…….That’s called losing the locker room. Very poor leadership.

  38. Anonymous Says:

BucBrady, thanks for the thoughtful, reasonable post. The rest, IMO is revisionist balderdash. I’m extremely happy to have Brady on our team, but I also understand when you compare anyone to a QB commonly accepted as the GOAT, they will fall short. Doesn’t mean the previous guy was a bum (5000 anyone?)…it just means we couldn’t win games with him and certainly not to the level Brady has won games/championships. BL: Let him go. Root for this year’s team (there’s a lot to be positive about) and Go Bucs!

  39. JimmyJack Says:

Gotbucs….Great point. It would be different if he ate his own fingers and then led us to big victories. Them players dont care how goofy you are if you get the job down. But to eat your fingers then go play mistake riddled football is really just childish.

  40. SlyPirate541 Says:

What’s the difference between Brady and Winston as a leader? Simple:

    >Jameis had one winning season and no playoff experience. The guy had no model of success.

    >Brady has 9 super bowl appearances, six rings, with 77 different receivers. TB has a proven method for success.

JW earned his way out of Tampa for a lot of valid reasons. I just don’t think leadership is at the top of that list.

  41. Jim Says:

So are the guys who’ve been saying this for years still “Haters”? Just wondering…

  42. Tye Says:

Yes, yes… The last 2 qbs the Bucs drafted in round 1 where imbarrasments and many hated both pics the day they were picked…. History shows they were poor investments!
It’s good to hear after decades of struggling to field even a decent qb, the Bucs have one now that is elevating those around him…

Now just get plenty of wins!

  43. Ndog Says:

Just keep firing away, it’s going to be so much fun to come back here at the end of the year. I can’t wait and then two years from now as well. And then five years from now etc…

Trust me these threads will not be forgotten. I can’t wait.

  44. Bucsfan951 Says:

    NPUPPY

Write it down, take a picture, I don’t give an eff!

There will be no winning with you unless the Bucs win the super bowl. Even at that, you’ll make an excuse about something.

    Again, you’re a professional victim.

  45. Bucsalltheway Says:
