“Lay Low And Get Healthy Again”

July 31st, 2020

Bucs RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn

Listening to Bucs rookie Tristan Wirfs today, it seems Bucs rookie third-round pick Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who is currently in the COVID-19 protocol, is actually sick or recovering.

Joe asked Wirfs on a conference call if he learning of Vaughn landing in the COVID protocol was an eye-opener for him at all. Bucs rookies got to know each other this offseason via online meetings, so Joe also asked Wirfs if he was concerned for Vaughn.

Wirfs acknowledged that “had COVID” and said Vaughn knows his team is there for him.

“He knows we all got his back. That’s the best thing for him now, to lay low and get healthy again,” Wirfs said.

Joe wishes Vaughn well. Rookies reported for duty last week and Vaughn’s return timetable is unclear. NFL teams are not releasing information on any player placed in COVID quarantine, as it should be. But some players can get that designation for only being in contact with a sick person rather than actually being sick, in addition to other factors.

Tight end Cameron Brate had The Sickness but acknowledged that his only symptoms were loss of taste for two days.

So all you gotta do is of had contact with a Covid person and you are listed as Covid? Seems wierd. You would think the NFL has money to have the good tests.

Sounds like a good list to be on for vets to use to get a paid vacation. Vaughn cant afford no vacation. He’s got a job to win.

Not only that, but it appears that they are actively using ‘contact tracing’ to keep track of their movements. Getting ‘caught’ in a bar or some other gathering is easier that way.
They seem to be really serious about this.

This is a general comment not specifically aimed at Vaughn.

The protocols put in place by sports organizations are worthless if the players don’t act responsibly away from the facility….

This is not a time for stupid behavior from anyone.

You have to do is compare the Miami Marlins to all other MLB teams….

My friends son in law got covid over 3 months ago, still hasn’t gotten his sense of taste back and has lingering side effects. Some people get lucky others don’t, his son in law is in his late 20’s by the way with no previous underlying conditions.

The story indicated that Vaughn actually got sick…no word on the symptoms..not that he just was with a positive person. He himself tested positive.

I’m not sure…NFL will be tougher perhaps…but my impression is that if you’ve come in contact with a positive person you are expected to quarantine UNTIL you get a negative test. Obviously 8 days doesn’t help…that’s how long it took to get my results which came back negative…I didn’t come in contact with a positive person but I had the misfortune of a respiratory infection in March when all respiratory ailments had to be treated suspiciously so they requested a test. But that meant I had to stay in my home for the 8 days untll the test came back.

Fortunately the NFL has deep pockets so they can afford the quick tests and know within a half hour or so..sometimes even quicker.
