Expects big play from Bucs QB

Could Tom Brady have the best season of his career in 2020? One former Pro Bowl running back thinks so.

Maurice Jones-Drew, now of NFL Network, is so bullish about the Bucs’ park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring  quarterback.

Speaking on “Good Morning Football,” MJD was so pumped, he all but told people to run to their short-term investment broker and lay mega cash on the “over” for whatever number you can get on Brady’s total touchdown passes this year.

The reason? Sick weapons and a coach who loves to throw the ball.

If Brady throws 55 touchdowns, it will tie the NFL record held by Peyton Manning. Brady’s previous best is 50 in 2007.

For a 43-year old quarterback to do that would be one of the most remarkable feats in NFL history. It would also shatter the Bucs’ season touchdown record of 33 held by youknowwho.

Of course. MJD is of the mind the Bucs will pass a lot, largely because they have the stud horses in the passing game to do so. But also because MJD is no fan of Ronald Jones.

Recently, MJD had to rank the 32 running backs believed to be the No. 1 backs on their respective teams, and MJD ranked RoJo dead-last at No. 32.

You can see MJD’s full take in the NFL Network video below.

Nah, I think JW is going to be the first 55/55 guy.

  2. Roy T. Buford Says:

Not favrorable comments from MJD, indeed. I can’t say I disagree with him. Hopefully RoJo and TB12 see this and use it as a motivator to fuel the fire (a forest fire is needed) to improve the run game.

Again……one more time and I will repeat until Joe prints it….

With only 15 carries per game @ 4.2 ypc…..Rojo would have had 1008 yards.

    ONLY 15!!!

  4. BigHog Says:

Ha ha ha 55 TD’s from a 43 year old has been…ha ha ha ha umm NO, NEVER, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN……

    ^^^^^

Because he’s white right Big Racist?

  6. Beeej Says:

I like that Rojo has been working overtime with Brady on his pass catching/route running. I really think he’s capable of being a mid-top tier back

I think that one thing I can say about Brady that I noticed from a far while he was with the Pats is that he loves to prove people wrong and is one of the best competitors EVER in ALL OF SPORTS. Glad he is on our team with a boat load of talent and a chip on his shoulder. Go Bucs !!

  8. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Love the “youknowwho” link !!! No more America’s QB !!!!

  9. Steven007 Says:

The youknowwho link, if they keep it will be the best improvement to this here website in a long, long time.

  10. Roy T. Buford Says:

    @Morgus, Akickn….
True, JW is used to throwing big play passes to Saints players, but I don’t think he’ll ever reach 30 again (TDs or INTs…he doesn’t discriminate), much less 55…on the Saints or anywhere else. Hard to do when holding a clipboard.

  11. SB Says:

Awesome pic in the youknowwho link Joe!!!

  12. Buczilla Says:

Licht, MJD is a great example of what an actual threat at running back looks like. You are on a tear man, don’t jeopardize our season by having hopefully’s and maybes at running back. Freeman is there so go get em.

  13. gp Says:

With the talented targets at Brady’s disposal this year, I see record passing stats across the board for TB.
With that threat on every play, opposing defenses will not be able to key on the run at all. I look to see some amazing runs as well as a result. In other words…
This could be the perfect storm.
I just wish we had more time to fine tune it in preseason.

  14. bucsfan951 Says:

i dont see 55 tds but i can see 30-35 tds with 8-10 ints which is a huge improvement from what we had

  15. jruss Says:

I’m a JW fan but the link to the pic is pure comedy!!! Terrible pic, but it fits.

  16. BigHog Says:

DooshBag :I said he is an has been… reading is fundamental !!!

As an old dude I’ve seen some trends come and go and just when you think one is the answer another trend negates it.

As far as QB’s it seems that players like Jackson, Mahomes and a few others are changing the view of the QB using his legs as weapons…the opposite of the Peyton Manning or Tom Brady model. There is certainly more than one way to get the job done so we’ll see what kind of offenses become big going forward.

If Brady was a “new breed” QB I’d be far more concerned about his age. The legs are the first to go in aging athletes but Brady doesn’t need his legs…he’s never had them as part of his game…they’ve never been a weapon.

Brady’s arm strength has not diminished THAT significantly…if his accuracy is still superior…with the group of targets he has Brady should slice and dice and occasionally even bomb.

    So is spelling Big Racist.
