“You Have To Build Up That Chemistry”

June 18th, 2020

Featured in “The Current.”

For the first time this year, the Bucs dropped another episode of “The Current.” And it had undertones of how society is battling an unseen and deadly foe no one could have predicted the last time an edition of “The Current” was released.

For those unaware, “The Current” is a wonderfully produced series put together by the Bucs’ video crew. Think of “Hard Knocks.” It is very much like that, only without a slob tonguing a palm tree.

This episode features five past, current and new Bucs players. It begins at Rondé Barber’s house and then tags along with Chris Godwin and his fellow foundation’s volunteers walking sheltered dogs and picking up dog crap (Joe won’t use the four-letter word that got past censors in the video).

Then the video highlights three new Bucs players: Tristan Wirfs, Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady.

The underlying theme of the video happens to be “The Sickness” and how it has changed the globe and forced many into house arrest and, in particular with the Bucs and the NFL as a whole, fully disrupted offseason plans.

Barber had an interesting quote. He seemed to think major acquisitions this offseason kept Bucs fans from going completely nuts locked inside their homes.

Barber noted that just about every sports media outlet one can think of called him the day the Bucs signed Brady wanting him to appear on their radio/podcast/TV shows.

“The four hours I was busy talking about Tom Brady, I wasn’t thinking about” The Sickness, Barber said.

Then Godwin said something that really caught Joe’s ear about being forced to do offseason workouts away from One Buc Palace.

“I think this is when you will really see who actually cares about their craft and who doesn’t,” Godwin said. “Because, it will all show in the end.”

And with the Bucs potentially having five new starters on offense, including a new quarterback, Gronk offered insight that may prove prophetic.

“Let me tell you this: To build chemistry with another player, it doesn’t come like that,” Gronk said as he snapped his fingers. “You have to build up that chemistry.”

Yes, the Bucs are in the same boat as any other NFL team. So can the two stud offensive veterans with enough rings between them to open a jewelry store guide the pirate ship through choppy seas?

It’s going to be fun to find out the answer.

Let me just say this, and I am a dyed in the wool Bucs fan, if after watching that video you are not pumped up, you are either NOT a Buc fan or simply a d!ck!
    Go Bucs!

    “There they are

Is the $10 million dollar check inside that purse?

Look at them smiling right in front of us

If Brady and Gronk were to open up their own jewelry store, women would be going in to buy their OWN engagement rings!

If Gronk’s lady and Mrs. Brady were to go in with Julie Weintraub, men of all ages, from New Port to North Port, from Spring Hill to Siesta, and from Lakeland to Longboat, would be blowing their stimulus checks to see the stimulating eye candy, suddenly feeling the need to get that old band resized, if you know what I mean!

I hope and trust the Bucs keep Ronde tied to the organization. He’s such a bright and centered guy there will always be places in the organization where he has a lot to contribute.

Perhaps Ronde will emulate his buddy John Lynch and is the heir apparent to Licht.

For all the whining about the future from the jilted JW lovers this franchise is in the best shape I can recall.

I can see Ronde GM and Bowles HC…whatever BA has done a great job of insuring some stability going forward…and now I hope the Glazers are smart enough to make sure Ronde hangs with the Bucs.

Brady in the white uni bears a strong resemblance to Matty Ice…

  10. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

I’ve been a diehard fan of this team since day one, 1976. If watching that video doesn’t get you going nothing will. Watching Brady and Gronk wearing the uniform for the photo shoot reminds me, albeit on a much lesser scale, of the photos of the mercury astronauts in,“The Right Stuff””. LFG! Go Bucs!

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Brady’s gonna get hurt and Blaine Gabbert will be the man, while Jameis leads the Saints to the Super Bowl – Mike Johnson

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Not quite like that Buc1987. But Jameis will come back to haunt his Bucs. I do believe this sometime in the future. I believe we are cursed..with this BucLife for a while. Like the pic here of Gronk laughing at the Bucs for paying him 10 mil. Knowing full well, he has not finished an entire season since 2011. What a croc. desperate teams do desperate things. Bucs still my team. But we fell behind 2 yrs further signing Brady. He and Gronk laughing all the way to the bank.

  13. Buddy Says:

Why is the Superfan Equipment guy asking Gronk about the Belt?? What a a$$kisser.
