Study The “Merge”

Rival talks Bucs

It’s unclear what the 2020 Bucs offense will look like, especially on opening day after a freakish offseason.

And that’s on the mind of a guy charged with stopping that offense.

This week, Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen was asked about something he’ll surely be asked about repeated;u over the next few months — facing new Bucs QB Tom Brady on opening day.

“I think it’s a challenge for us, you know, opening up the season and playing these guys because you really have a couple of things that you’re looking at,” defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said Monday. “You know, there’s the study that we’ve got to do of Tom in New England and the things that he was doing there, as well as studying Bruce Arians and Byron Leftwich, their offense, their philosophy and then trying to merge those two together to find out or see, you know, exactly what we’re going to get to open the season. That will be a challenge. That will be difficult for us to deal with.”

Allen went on to say facing Brady represents a challenge at “the highest level” in football and the Saints are ultra-competitive and will be up for it and are excited to face the new-look Bucs.

Joe was intrigued about Allen talking about studying and projecting how the Brady Way, what he was comfortable with in New England, will intertwine with the standard Arians-Leftwich offense of 2019.

That’s going to be a load of guesswork for Allen and the Saints, assuming the Bucs don’t have any preseason injuries. That should be a huge advantage for Tampa Bay.

On the flip side, the Bucs know what’s coming from the Saints, but they rarely are able to slow it down. The Saints even ran the ball solidly against the mighty Bucs rush defense last season.

Have to have our yearly division winning saints DC tell how amazing this team is and he doesn’t sound like he’s lying. Suck on it to everyone saying we’re not going to make the playoffs (at the moment). 11-5/12-4

    GO BUCS!!!

This is the exact reason I wanted the Saints week one. No film. We have the element of surprise. Your not going to fool TB with any defense.

    20 friggin yrs,
    9 SB’s (6 of which he won)
41 playoff games (30 of which he won).

    In BA I Trust!

  3. Sport Says:

Probably should also mention Brady has 240 total wins.

The entire Buccaneers franchise win total (since 76) is 276.

    In BA I Trust!

You never really know what the hell you’re getting w/the Bucs.
Games they should win, they lose.
Games they should lose, they lose or sometimes win or sometimes win and then lose in the final minutes.

All I know is this team has the best chance to get to the playoffs of any team we’ve seen for many years. So all in all, it’s a time for cautious optimism imho.

JW will have the Saints nice and worn out, when he crushes them with the practice squad

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Brees just issued yet another grovelling apology. Says he was wrong to support the flag and his country, and is now a full fledged communist

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

They shouldn’t have much trouble with the BA/BL offense…..they have a walking/talking playbook on their roster in Jameis Winston.
But…..they’ll have to guess what changes Brady will bring……mainly not throwing the ball to them.

  8. Clean House Says:

    Wow, Drew Brees is what?
You sound a bit deranged with all due respect.

  9. El Buco Realisto Says:

The “real” fans know how temporary this so called merge will be!!!!!!!! And in “reality” it’s more of brady being the oc, BL will be quiet and just take notes, and ole stale biscuit will be asleep at the wheel!!!!!!!! Which might be better for the Bucs as his sloppy coaching just leads to penalties!!!!!!!!!!! The “real” question is how to stop ole stale biscuit from panicking on game day and making all the mistakes he makes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Munch, rather than being part of the problem, you should probably work on being part of the solution, rather than a bitter old man.

    Alvin

    Amen Brother!

    “than a bitter old man.”

Agree. Makes me relieved that I may be old but at least I’m not a bitter loser resistant to change.

Imagine where Winston would be if the Saints didn’t need intel……He’s 3rd string on a division rival for basically the vet minimum and some moving money.

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Alvin – The problem is fake apologies and giving into terrorists. I’m totally not being part of the problem.

Poor Munchy… you still can’t figure out that this wasn’t about the flag. I still can’t figure out that many of the fans that talk, take a swig, and wear their hats during the raising of the flag, or wear it on their hats and backs, have the inability to comprehend their own disrespect for the flag. Worse than a quiet or prayerful kneel, in my perspective, but each to their own.

Munch, do you realize what black people go through in this country? No, neither do I. However, I spent my first 5 years as an Attorney as an Assistant State Attorney in Pinellas County. In case you don’t understand that, I was a Prosecutor. That was from 1/1993 to 12/1997. Bernie McCabe replaced Jimmy Russell as the top dog on the same day I started but his salary was probably at least 8 times what I made. If you think all police are wonderful, you are sadly mistaken. I dealt with several cops that I could not put on the witness stand because it was clear they were untruthful. Lots of wonderful police as well. In case you’re wondering, I rode along with St. Pete, Clearwater and PCSO.
What the hell are you talking about when you say “terrorists?” I want to understand you. You seem like a person that is not just a mouthbreathing dope. Again, be part of the solution and not the problem. Please think for yourself.
