Tier Three QB

May 4th, 2020

“You’re Tier One for me Tom.”

In the eyes of one NFL observer, Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is a middle-of-the-pack quarterback.

Looking at the other quarterbacks in the same tier in which John Daigle of Rotoworld.com places Brady, the soon to be 43-year-old is either as bad as Daniel Jones or as good as Drew Brees.

Brady’s production expectedly plummeted with the “weapons” surrounding him in New England, forcing him to finish as a top-12 quarterback just twice from Week 7 on. The 42-year-old’s floor remains safe in Tampa Bay, but his complete lack of mobility renders him a borderline QB1 …

Of course, this is influenced by what a guy does in fantasy football. Joe couldn’t give two sh!ts about fantasy football points. Joe’s interested in real football.

(Once again, Joe’s lone fantasy has everything to do with — let’s shake things up a little — Jessica Alba and a tropical island and absolutely nothing to do with football.)

Other quarterbacks listed by Daigle as “Tier Three” include Carson Wentz, Matthew Stafford, Matt Ryan, Brees and Jones.

Overall, Daigle has Brady as his 13th-rated quarterback.

lol he’s always had 0 mobility.

Also – didn’t he run a faster 40 last year than he did at his combine?

To me the worry with the age is losing his edge mentally. I.e folding quicker under pressure. His arm looked solid as hell still last year. With Peyton Manning his arm was dying for a while / not ever strong to begin with so it was a pretty drastic dropoff with his injuries/etc

Brady will be in top 7 in QB rating of healthy this season with 4200+ yards, 32 + TD and 12 interceptions

  3. Larry Says:

Don’t care where or who ranks Brady, he is a 1000% improvement over Winston. When he walks on the field you KNOW you have a good chance for a win. Not so with Winston, the turn over machine. I hope Winston does well, just so he does it somewhere other than Tampa.

  4. SC Bucs Fan Says:

Brady is 13. JW didn’t make top 35.

  5. adam Says:

Winston was arguably a top-5 fantasy QB and we all know how that worked out. Like Joe, don’t care about his fantasy value at all…..we want “W’s”!!! And not the kind you eat.

Hope they are correct…because that will be the most damning statement about Jameis yet when the Bucs middle of the road ,over aged QB puts up better numbers

I think the guy has QB envy because Brady’s hot significant other, and because of his small Dangle.

  12. JimmyJack Says:

Well let’s give Brady the ball one time with a game on the line deep in the fourth……..and them stats and tiers and ranking go out the window real quick don’t they………Of course Brady does have to lead us and get us to that point……Which is to say he can’t be turning the ball over like our last QB did.

I’m sorry but it’s true. Turnovers derail games.

  13. Kalind Says:

I hope he sees this article. Never seen someone use thrown-shade to up their game so well as Tom

Remind me please… which games did Jamyth bring the Bucs from behind for a heroic victory…. I know all the times he died trying

  15. WestChap Says:

This guy is nuts… TB12 is in same tier as Daniel Jones? And behind Dak, Kyler and Deshaun… really? The guy did the same thing with Brees… so he’s at least fair? Hmm. Thank goodness I can ignore rotoworld.

    yawn….. slow news day…..

  17. AwShbucs Says:

With the current supporting cast he has around him. Brady is going to put up 2007 like numbers. Bank on it.

  18. Ndog Says:

Yes let’s see him drive the team for a game winning or a putting a game away field goal then it is missed. I bet you the kicker will be a problem then!

  19. Isaac haggins Says:

@larry you may be disappointed !! Brady is a foo foo QB and goes full turtle when hit and pressured and was worse than Winston when pressured last year !! Peeps don’t realize Brady has always been just middle of the road under pressure but he had a smart coach that new his strengths !!! However you do see Licht and Co . Already putting resources forward to protect better and speed the release up !! I really don’t think Brady is much different tha say Bridgewater if protections and quicker routes become part of Bruce’s offense . Because Brady is and always has been just middle of the road when pressured and talk about not liking contact , Brady doesn’t like it and he won’t be good with it !!

Ndog you are a broken record

  21. Joeypoppems Says:

As far as Fantasy goes, QB7-12 is a good spot for Brady. So 13 I can see.

For perspective, Jameis, even with the turnovers, was QB5 in fantasy last season because of the yards and TDs. I dont think Brady comes close to 5000 yards. And ~15 less turnovers doesnt make up for ~800 less yards.

    Mahomes
    Lamar
    Wilson
    Murray
    Watson
    Josh Allen

Those guys are all for sure ahead of Brady in fantasy. QB7 is open for debate.

  22. Joeypoppems Says:

I forgot Dak, so 8-12 for Brady

  23. Captain Dan Lawrence Says:

Should this be called “Joe Saints fan” now?

It’s alwys the same thing. The kicker….the defense…grrr

    Broken record.

  26. Buc1987 Says:

Captain Dan Lawrence …just curious….where in the article does Joe mention the Saints or Jameis for that matter? Just curious.

I took this as a tongue in cheek statement but something tells me you and many others might have the intellectual capability (Lack of?) to believe something like this.

In real football you want a quarterback who wins. That’s what we have now.

  30. MDFree Says:

He’s talking about fantasy football people relax. Fantasy scoring capability has no correlation to playing REAL winning football. If you take a gander at the top fantasy qbs for any given year, they’re either good scrambling qbs or they’re on a losing football team which forces them to air it out. Matt Ryan and Dak Prescott were both top fantasy scoring qbs for much of the season last year and look how far they made it in the playoffs. O that’s right they didn’t. This is a complete no story here Joe.

  35. mark2001 Says:

    Officer Lieutenant Dangle…classic….

  36. gotbbucs Says:

….but does he win football games?

He’s the most consistent QB the league has ever seen. If not for two lucky receptions by two Giants receivers that were never heard of again, his career would be almost flawless.
When he has been given even decent offensive weapons he has been able to walk the ball up and down the field. When he had Moss over the top he destroyed the league. Does he still have the arm he had then? Hard to say, Patriots haven’t had anyone on the outside that could beat press coverage in some time. Evans changes that for him again. I know this, before last year Winston threw a horrible deep ball and Evans still came down with a lot of those duck’s.
With outside the numbers weapons like Evans and Godwin, Gronk will have a much easier time in the middle of the field than he had the last two or three years he was in New England.

This is the part where you just cross your fingers and hope this year is better than the last. On paper, this offense, even with older Gronk and Brady, should be very hard to defend. A smart QB should be able to do some damage with relative ease most weeks.

  37. Oneilbucs Says:

Gotbbucs You guys keep forgetting that our defense is bad . We can’t run the ball because our coaches don’t call run plays enough so i don’t know how good our runningbacks are . If you can’t stop the other teams from scoring you will lose . Facts…..
