Ranking Tom Brady

May 20th, 2020

“Where do you rank, Gisele?”

He may not be in the top-10 but he’s close.

Prickly Pete Prisco of CBS Sports has his annual Top-100 players list. And if you really need to kill time and find an excuse not to work, check with Prisco’s Twitter timeline every hour or so. He sort of invites the freaks the way he spars on social media with readers. With that Top-100 list out, it’s essentially Prisco flashing the bat signal in the sky for the wackos to come out of the woodwork.

No Bucs players made the top-10. However, one is close. And that man hasn’t even worn a Bucs game uniform. That would be park-violating, home-invading Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

In this list of Prisco’s, Brady checks in at No. 15.

By his standards, his numbers were pedestrian last season with the Patriots. But he had little help from his skill group, which will change in Tampa. His numbers should go way up this season.

If you see the list you can understand why Brady is “only” No. 15.

Yes, Brady has weapons. Can those weapons help Brady look more like a 37-year old quarterback?

Some folks are predicting crazy, monster numbers for Brady this fall. We shall see. Look, the hype is so large, Joe isn’t sure if Brady could put up Dan Marino numbers and match the anticipation.

I guess it’s a matter of opinion. I’d rank Brees over Rodgers.
    Our former starter was #1!

  2. stpetebucsfan Says:

Top ten or not a point I’ve made is that Brady also brings the Zebras.

tickdr picked up on that and shared this from his daughter….priceless.

my daughter had sent me a picture of 7 former Patriots, who recently signed with the Bucs: …………………………………….. the referees.

    BOOM!

    It’s all opinion

Make the playoffs and my expectations are met.

  5. D-Rome Says:

When I clicked on the link it shows him at 19.

  6. Matt S Says:

Brady definitely has some high expectations for this season. The Bucs still did a great job picking up players that will eventually be set and ready to back Brady up in the future. I just read on this most valuable draft intel article that before the NFL Draft, the only two key additions to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason was Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Considering they’re both in the last chapter of their NFL careers, it became clear that Tampa was going to target instant contributors in the Draft, which is exactly what they did https://prosportsoutlook.com/most-valuable-intel-from-each-teams-nfl-draft-class/. If Brady is able to compete to the best of his ability, there’s no doubt in my mind that the Bucs will find success this season and in the future.

    he’s the GOAT. nuff’ said.

  8. JimmyJack Says:

Top tens lists to me are about stats and fantasy football numbers. It has more to do with highlight reels then winning games.

If I were to do a ranking my way I waould ask myself one question that Trump’s everything else………When the game is one the line and you need a TD which QB do you trust with the ball?

When I answer that question Brady ranks in the Top 5.

But to most it’s about stats and highlights. I get it.

  9. JimmyJack Says:

And sorry I misread. It’s not just a QB list. I would still take exception of Lamar Jackson over Brady. Give me a two minute offense and donor die and there’s no way I trust Jackson over Brady.

Brady, Wilson, Rodgers, Bress are all still in a class on their own IMO. Mahomes is probably in their too with a bit less proven and could make a case for Big Ben. Lamar Jackson not even close to touching any of them guys yet.

Gotta give the Joes credit for making Buc news out of boiled shoe leather…

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

What matters most is: Did we improve at QB?

And, as a team……where else were the improvements?

Oline with Tristan Wirfs & Joe Haeg
    S with A Winfield
    Vaughn over Barber
    Gronk addition at TE

    Where are the losses?

    Dline Depth?
    3rd WR?

We will see….but I don’t think there can be an argument that we haven’t improved overall…..but then again so should every other team.

    TampabayBucFan…..Good point.

QB obvisous upgrade at most important position.

Overall you gotta love our chances to have major improvements overall on defense. Going into a second year with essientialy every starter the same as last year looks great on paper. We will see how the build off of last year but the arrow if defientally pointing way up….I don’t see how somebody could possibly argue otherwise.

I shared your post with my daughter, and we BOTH got a big kick out of it!
    Thank you very much!

  15. Bucnjim Says:

Seems like some of us on here are stuck on stats Like they are the equivalent of wins or in this case winners. Winners are so much more than that mainly because they do not except losing. The losing here has been an acceptable outcome for this organization and it’s star players. Like the old saying goes winners win. It may not always be pretty or stat filled but a win nonetheless.

  16. Craig Says:

Brady looked pedestrian last season because to supporting players were AWOL.

Brady will have a blast this season. No other QB has the same quality and quantity of offensive weapons.

Brady might not to Mahomes or Jackson, but his numbers will be huge.

Tell your daughter she has a great sense of humor!

  18. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I don’t care about his stats. If he can turn this team into a Superbowl team, especially this year, he’ll be #1 to me!

  19. stpetebucsfan Says:

    TBBF

Agree with your observations although I might be just a shade more optimistic.

I keep hearing and reading such rave reviews of Tyler Johnson that many have already written off Scottie. I think that battle will produce a solid #3 and hopefully a little depth as well with the loser being #4.

DL depth is a concern for sure. We just have to hope for health.

  20. Buczilla Says:

Prisco is in the upper echelon of making horrible lists that rank NFL players and always has been. His top 15 is pretty solid, but it goes to hell after that. I’m more likely to be a spy from the 9th planet plotting a diabolical takeover of planet earth than for 44 other NFL players to be better than Mike Evans.

  21. 2002WasALongTimeAgo Says:

I read somewhere that Brady’s targets last averaged 2 drops per GAME each, while Evans and Godwin had 2 drops all season. I think Mike will enjoy getting the ball where it should be.

  22. JameisAlmighty! Says:

New Orleans has the best 2 QBs in the league.

  23. stpetebucsfan Says:

Brees is great but are you really that high on his backup…Taysom Hill.

The Saints must be because they just extended Hill last month.

So while they signed JW for 1.1 million for THIS year with a whopping 148,000 bonus…that’s a bonus…why bother with that chump change. Just take the million and move on.

Meanwhile in a revelation of how the Saints really feel about JW and his future…
    The Saints EXTENDED Taysom Hill.

Hill is cashing in with a two-year deal valued at $21 million, with $16 million in guarantees and another $1 million in incentive

So the second best QB in the league is playing for 1 million while the other “backup” is making 20X that much and gets two year deal?
