“Don’t Want To Rub Him The Wrong Way”

May 21st, 2020

Fear factor

A small handful of Bucs players have been running through informal, on-field practices orchestrated by Tom Brady.

So are they able to joke with Brady and needle him like they would any other locker room buddy?

SiriusXM NFL Radio host and former QB Brady Quinn wanted to know yesterday when he talked to Cameron Brate.

“Can you give him a hard time yet,” Quinn asked Brate on the NFL Radio airwaves.

Brate said that kind of relationship hasn’t blossomed with the six-time Super Bowl winner.

“I have not really done that yet. I’m trying to, you know, get off on the right foot,” Brate said. “Don’t want to rub him the wrong way right away, but I’m sure that will come over time once we become more comfortable with each other. He seems like he’s pretty easy going and we’re having a good time throwing. It’s been fun.”

It’s normal for a bunch of 20-somethings to be a little intimidated by 42-year-old Brady. But it’s sure fun to hear Brate actually say it.

While Brate said Brady seems like a down-to-earth and good guy, Joe suspects Brady is learning toward staying all-business to set an early tone and until he gets to spend more in-person time with his teammates.

God willing our QB whispering coach can figure out how to use three tight ends.

Btw, Simms said on his podcast that he’d take the Bucs tight end group over anyone in the NFL

tom gravy’s enforcer grunt, (oops i mean gronk) will handle punking people…

grunt (oops i mean gronk) does all the dirty work…

and for that he gets free room and board at the jeter mansion…

gronk has a rent free room with bathroom…

also every morning tom brings him two hot egg mcmuffins since he wakes before grunt (oops i mean gronk), so gronk can shake off his late night benders with wine, women and psalm

    on a more serious note…

you can be sure he’s getting buddy buddy with jensen…

if anyone get’s out of line with brady, you can be sure jensen is gonna get fierce, fiesty and hot headed with opposing players real fast…

i’m predicting cappa gets more bad azz this year too…

this line has to get all frothy at the mouth, and protect protect protect

this season could really come down to how well the line protects their “old on field point guard” (TB12)

I still can’t believe we have Tom Brady. Unreal. I just hope it materializes into more than a playoff visit and we contend for the SB.

Everyone should understand that for the next 2 years, everyone has to eat, sleep, and breathe football. These kind of opportunities don’t happen very often. The motto for this year should be, “All hands on deck”. It’s going to take everyone to raise their level, to ride the Brady wave into the SB.

This informal practice even made the little news snippet on a classic rock fm station in eastern Iowa. I bet they’ve never said the word Buccaneers on air before!

Cappa is too tall and his center of gravity if too high for a guard!

He’s 6-6 with long, thin legs.

PLEASE go watch every snap from this past season.

He gets bull rushed by fat DT’s so easily. His legs slide as he just holds on for dear life.

And he whiffs on swim moves because DT’s are too quick for him!

Cappa is a career backup at 5 positions. A 6th man if you will.

But he is NOT the starting RG we need to win the Super Bowl!!

Licht!! Stop forcing draft picks! Get us a real RG!!

Not a LT from a Div. II school!

Best TE plus Best WR group

I am hoping BA can figure out how to use even ONE; beside blocking that is. Using a “12” package might be too much to ask. But can you imagine?! ME and CG on the outside wide, Gronk and Brate/OJ at TE with Rojo/Vaughn at RB and Tompa Tom dissecting the defense?! How does a D stop that?!

  11. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

^^^ I shouldn’t have taken it that far; I got too excited…. BA doesn’t like the “12” pkg. I think I read where he used it less that 20% of the time, whereas the Pats used it 50%. So don’t hold your breath on that one… And we know how Bucs coaches don’t really adjust to the talent they have.

Brate respects his elders like he should! Raised well!

Jason Licht definitely rubbed him the right way….
