“Suckaneers” No More?

April 22nd, 2020

Lofty Bucs talk.

You just knew Skip Bayless would have something to say.

Less than 24 hours after the Bucs once again shook the sports world by acquiring Rob Gronkowski in a trade, Bayless, co-host of “Undisputed” seen and heard on FS1, has been won over.

Bayless believes the Bucs are now an NFL juggernaut and Bucs fans better clear their schedules for February because big things are happening early in 2021.

“Can you say ‘Super Bowl?'” Bayless asked. “Can you see the 7-9 Bucs, the Suckaneers, in next year’s Super Bowl, which happens to be in their home stadium? I can. I believe this is the move that puts them over the top.”

Bayless later added, “I love this team.”

Bayless co-host Shannon Sharpe, isn’t all the geeked about the Bucs acquiring Gronk. He predicts the Bucs will likely move on from fellow tight end O.J. Howard saying of Howard, “I don’t think he has scratched the surface of what he can be.”

Sharpe knows something about tight ends since he’s in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a tight end.

Fellow co-host Jenny Taft just looks hot.

Memo to Bayless: One word. “Zyrtec.”

  4. Old Time Buc Says:

If there are not any big time OT’s left I agree with your pick!

  5. JimmyJack Says:

This guy just correctly called us a 7-9 football team. It doesn’t even sound right even though it is. It’s nice to have legitimate expectations for a change.

  6. bucbrady Says:

Unless the NFL builds in a substantial time for training camp then this year is going to be tough for the Bucs. They need time to gel. Brady and Gronk aren’t going to come in and just start dominating teams that have been playing together in previous seasons.

  7. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

If we don’t get at least a 2nd round pick for Howard we should not deal. It doesn’t cost us much to keep him and maybe he can learn a thing or two from Gronk. I think Howard has a lot to still offer and don’t want us letting go great talent.

  8. SOEbuc Says:

NFL regular season will not be cancelled. Why Roger Goodell and these other GMs and are on this “Make Economy Great Again” team. These people don’t care about when it’s safe to come to come to a game, they need their blood money.

    @I’m Tired-

totally agree. Still too much potential. He was a beast that was barely used under Dirk.

Hate it when people talk about “get off the bandwagon.” Who tf is anyone, especially Bucs fans to talk like that. This isn’t some sacred tradition. If people want to cheer for Bucs, be happy for Bucs or come along for the ride then let em. Bandwagon when you’re relevant, have superstars. Jesus Christ, I’m surprised that people are surprised that super star teams attract the casual bandwagon fans. The gs warriors are the perfect example. Steph Curry changed the game. World wide popularity. They were fun to watch, then people get jealous because they got TOO good and TOO popular. People are so damn predictable. Anyway, let’s enjoy the fact that the Bucs are the marquee team in the league FOR ONCE, and we’re all the rage for once

Itz official if licht can get rid of our special bucs cheerleader things will be awesome on Sundays. That is a real turd in the punch bowl whatever qtr that cheerleading section moves in front of our section.

  13. alaskabuc Says:

Joe- Any chance that Brate is the one more likely to be traded than OJ? He would free up more cap space than OJ and I would think he may command a better trade value. Plus, I would think the thought of OJ being able to learn from Gronk and be our fixture at tight end for the next 5 years or so might be a better long term move. Thoughts?

  14. Ricky Ricardo Says:

@ Realisto- we’ve been paying that price for about ten years. Or haven’t you noticed?

Anything is better than the same losing seasons. YOU need to enjoy this as well. For the first time since the early 2000’s the Bucs are relevant and making big news on an almost weekly basis.

If they are actually your team then why not take some enjoyment out of all this?

Guess what? ‘Your Team’ never gets put together exactly how you want and performs as you want them to. But if they are still ‘Your team’ then why not enjoy the happier times a little? Breathe. Smile. Be happy.

If we stay healthy this year could be special

  16. DalvinCookRules Says:

I really just think Brady is here to pad his career passing stats using the stud receivers on this team.

In Belichick’s system, believe it or not, Brady-like QBs are a dime-a-dozen. They may not find one as good as a young Brady, but they can find one that operates their offense almost as efficiently–and certainly better than a washed up Tom Brady. That was the calculation Belichick made.
