“That Resonates In Locker Rooms”

Michael Irvin talks race and Tom Brady

We’re about 108 days from the start of NFL training camp and Joe is fired up for football season.

Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin is all jacked up, too, at the prospect of Tom Brady playing for the Buccaneers. He explained in a race-infused rant on WFAN radio in New York.

It really impressed Irvin how much former Bucs running back and three-time Super Bowl winner LeGarrette Blount loves Brady, citing Blount showing off his signed Brady jersey recently with the inscription, “Brothers forever, Tom Brady.”

Irvin explained how Brady sought his advice and he painted Brady as a man of all the people represented in the locker room.

“You hear the talk that Tom Brady’s training to pull Antonio Brown back in. I said, ‘Wow.’ I can tell you right now. That’s why he is who he is. Matt Patricia, Coach [Bill] O’Brien, you can learn from this fella right here. Let’s be real, this fella knows he’s in the locker room with a whole bunch of African Americans; he speaks their language. They follow him.

“Tom Brady could walk into any ghetto in America. Ain’t nobody gonna to touch Tom. Ain’t nobody bother Tom. Let Tom go through. For him to be the highest of highs, because he’s the top of the food chain when it come to the NFL, and in all that mess that [Antonio Brown] has done, he’s still reaching down to the lowest of the lows and trying to pull him up. That resonates in locker rooms. Those guys want to play for him — when you got that kind of guy as your quarterback.

“When Tom won his first Super Bowl, I remember he came up to me and he asked me; he said, ‘Hey man, how did you guys win more than one Super Bowl? I want to make sure we win multiple Super Bowls.’

“The advice I gave him, ‘Don’t ever walk in front of your team. Always walk with your team.’ Dude, this dude has taken it to another level. You got the heart and soul of a football team at the quarterback position. … He knows how to communicate to all the guys that he’s talking to.”

Definitely a though-provoking and entertaining take from Irvin, who went on to say Jameis Winston kicked the hope out of the Buccaneers’ effort because of his 30 interceptions.

“Hope will dictate effort,” Irvin insisted, and there just wasn’t enough on defense with Jameis around. “They’ll give a greater effort.”

I don’t see Brady walking into a ghetto

  2. DantheTanMan Says:

Not sure why ESPN nd NFL Network are spreading false hope for an NFL Season, it is not going to hapen

  3. Buccos Says:

There will certainly be an NFL season. Donald Trump is about to reopen the country. In another month all of this virus bull**** will be in the rearview mirror and the Bucs will be Superbowl contenders.

  4. Youngbucs Says:

Be careful Michael. They’re going to call you clueless and a racist because of the truth you’re speaking.

  5. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Can you BELIEVE that Michigan kept Tom Brady, on the bench ?

  6. SufferingSince76 Says:

Danny Dimes is back as DantheTanMan.

  7. Steven007 Says:

DD, in case you missed it on the other thread. You’re welcome:

Hey, DD changed his moniker, sweet! You know, the only thing worse than a troll is an uncreative troll. And my goodness, these season deniers are one uncreative bunch. I’m amused at those who are so lonely and so uncreative that they spew out the same mindless, completely uncited word salad day after day and then intermittently change their names when called out as the trolls they are. Sucks to be them. Oh no, it really does DD. Any rebuttal merely proves my point.

  8. DBS Says:

Ignore him. He will just change everything like trollmax did.

  9. Steven007 Says:

DBS, you are correct sir. However it’s occasionally fun to play with children. As for the poster you mentioned, I kind of miss the old retard.

  10. DoooshLaRue Says:

So TB is a white master?

  11. DBS Says:

    Steven007
I see your point. I think the old one is still having a party. Parole for Jameis and Dostson unemployed. The only thing he has left really on his list is LVD,

  12. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Re 90’s Cowboy Championship teams:

    Aikman was the Mind
    Emmitt was the Heart
    But
    Irvin was the Soul

  13. BigHog Says:

Tha Ol’ GOAT knows how to give respect and show humility… shouldn’t we all? Asking for Colt45?

  14. Anonymous Says:

Put the pipe down Michael. I enjoyed how you described Brady as a leader but what does race have to do with anything? A professional player doesn’t give a sh!t about race and they focus on wins. White or Black leader.

  15. SOEbuc Says:

Put the pipe down Michael. What does race have to do with being a great leader in the locker room. Professional players focus on winning, not the color of good leaders.

  16. Ndog Says:

So the only question is if 30 interceptions is why the defense didn’t play hard last year what was their excuse to previous four years?

Well actually there are a few more, were there 30 interceptions when we played the Giants or had there been 30 interceptions when we played the Rams and had there been 30 interceptions when we played the Seahawks had there been 30 interceptions the first time we played the Saints had there been 30 interceptions when we played the Cardinals or the Colts?

  17. Steven007 Says:

DBS, yes true. Also dredging up the old Dungy hate which is inexplicable but an ingrained part of his trollishness

  18. SOEbuc Says:

Troy spoke African-American. He’s a straight up gangsta.

  19. Ndog Says:

Also if hope dictates effort then shouldn’t the offense have quit a long time ago since there’s been basically no hope with our defense or kicker?

  20. Bucsfan951 Says:

    NPUPPY cherry picking stats/games again.

    Dude, you’re useless… HES GONE!!!

  21. stpetebucsfan Says:

Used to be Morning DJ in another life. Played this on the radio and the lyrics with just a gender change work perfectly for NDOG. Hall and Oates first big hit.

    (She’s) He’s Gone

    Everybody’s high on consolation
Everybody’s trying to tell me what is right for me, yeah
My daddy tried to bore me with a sermon
But it’s plain to see that they can’t comfort me
    Sorry, Charlie, for the imposition
I think I’ve got it (got it), I got the strength to carry on, yeah
I need a drink and a quick decision
Now it’s up to me, ooh, what will be
    He’s gone, He’s gone
    Oh I, oh I
I better learn how to face it
    He’s gone, and He’s gone
    Oh I, oh I
I’d pay the devil to replace him
    He’s gone, and she’s gone
    Oh I
    What went wrong?

  22. Joe in Michigan Says:

Dummy Dimes wants the season cancelled, the other one is crying about players who are gone. Wow.

  23. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Check ya sheet ndoggie…..

    He gone!

  24. Steven007 Says:

St.pete, nicely done! And great tune.

  25. Tye Says:

‘Jameis Winston kicked the hope out of the Buccaneers’ effort’ – like a 6 legged ninja!

  26. Ndog Says:

I love it he says cherry picking stats when our defense and running game have been horrific ever since James walked in the door I love it how is that cherry picking stats, stats don’t lie, facts don’t lie, 951 does.

  27. Bucsfan951 Says:

    Hey NPUPPY guess what?…

WINSTON STILL ISNT SIGNED AND DOESNT EVEN HAVE A TEAM TO PLAY FOR… ITS APRIL AND 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE DRAFT!!!

That just has to kill you!!!

  28. SB Says:

    That was SWEET SPBF!!!!!
    And True!

  29. Bucsfan951 Says:

So PUPPY, will you sit in the stands and cheer for the Bucs to fail? When Brady tosses a perfectly thrown ball to Evans and Godwin, will you just sit there?

Care to tell me what section you sit in? That way when I fly in for a game, I can sit in your section. You don’t need to tell me the seat row/number.

  30. Ndog Says:

Why would it kill me 951 I’m a Bucs fan?

Not to mention do they start playing games in 2 weeks, matter of fact can they even practice. The fact that anyone is on any team does it mean anything right now.

Isn’t it getting old having me make you look so clueless every single day 951?

  31. Sport Says:

Not sure if the link will work so I’ll post this first.

Alex Rollins on YouTube does a great job breaking down JW good and bad. It also solidifies everyone’s opinion. He does some things exceptional and others atrocious.

Google or search YouTube for “Jamie’s Winston FAILED in Tampa Bay, is he a starter in 2020?”

NDog – I did not emphasize ‘failed’ the creator of the video did.

And if you have the time, watch the Brady video he does. Search “Tom Brady is STILL Just as Good as ever”.

    In BA I Trust!

  32. Bucsfan951 Says:

“Why would it kill me 951 I’m a Bucs fan?”

Is that a question? No, you’re not a Bucs fan. You’re a jw fan. Big difference!

“The fact that anyone is on any team does it mean anything right now.”

Haha what does that even mean? Of course it means something! Again, talking out your rear end to justify your case.

The nfl season is going on RIGHT NOW!!! Free agency started! The draft is in 2 weeks! Yes, mini camps won’t start or even happen but the season as we know of it right now IS moving forward as planned!

Again, JW sits with no team, a handful of vet qbs not signed along with a new crop of rookie qbs.

Not looking good for your man crush, jw.

Have you at least met jw? Your infatuated with him is borderline stalker.

Anyone know the stalker laws in Florida? I want to write jw and give him a heads up of a certain person 😳

  33. Ndog Says:

Sport I won’t comment on the rest, considering I haven’t seen it, but the one thing that is certain is that you should never trust BA.

  34. Ndog Says:

951 you know nothing about me I’m probably the biggest Bucs fan on this planet, so before you start assuming you know things about people why don’t you check your sheet.

  35. SOEbuc Says:

    IMPORTANT OFF TOPIC:

Why can I only find new Brady, Godwin, Devin White jerseys to buy? My birthday’s coming up and a Mike Evans or LVD are close to the top of my birthday list.

  36. Bucsfan951 Says:

I’ve checked my sheet. It says jw is the most turnover prone qb since entering the league AND HES STILL NOT SIGNED!!!!!

Darn that Tampa media for being so influential! He’s not signed because of them, you know?

You’re not a true fan. Having season tickets doesn’t make you a true fan. Sorry to burst you bubble, my dude! You’re a fake, a phony! Fugazi!

  37. Youngbucs Says:

Thx sport great vid I’ve been saying it FilmDontLie. He can’t read defenses

  38. Ndog Says:

Again 951 talking out of your you know what because you don’t know what you’re talking about and you know nothing about me. I’ve been going to games since probably before you were born little boy so grow up and show some respect to someone who knows they’re talking about unlike yourself.

People have opinions, people have thoughts, we’re not all robots who are told what to think like yourself, get a brain and maybe try to think for yourself.

And as far as you’re concerned Youngbucs yes there’s plenty of film out there I could show you that shows you just how good Jameis is but that’s not what we’re talking about, we’re talking about the fact that we have a 43-year-old quarterback and in three years won’t have one at all. That’s the issue if you morons haven’t figured that out yet or not.

  39. Bucsfan951 Says:

    The PUPPY is funny

People give their opinion and he calls them clueless. He gives his opinion and it’s “fact” because we’re all morons.

I give my opinion and the PUPPY calls me clueless. But NPUPPY, “People have opinions, people have thoughts, we’re not all robots who are told what to think like yourself”

Do you even think before you type out your garbage? You basically just put yourself down!

    Clueless? That’s you!

And for the record, I would lay down money you don’t have season tickets! Having a tv and recliner in your house doesn’t mean you have season tickets. Just making sure you know the difference, PUPPY!

Quick question for you tho and I’m being totally serious. Does JW sign up for unemployment benefits since he is jobless at this moment?

“Tom Brady could walk into any ghetto in America. Ain’t nobody gonna to touch Tom. Ain’t nobody bother Tom. Let Tom go through.”

    .

The unstated implication here is that if the white guy wasn’t Tom Brady, then he’d better look out. But white people so racist.

Does Michael Irvin think about what he’s saying before it rushes out of his face?

  41. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

    >>The advice I gave him, ‘Don’t ever walk in front of your team. Always walk with your team.’

Irvin redeemed himself a bit here with some real wisdom. I’ve never heard this said before, and it is spot on. I’ve known some officers and NCOs who would have benefited from this.

45 was the first person to build a private resort in south Florida that opened membership to blacks and jews, but since you are too busy repeating what you are told to believe, you wouldn’t know that. Ignorance is bliss!

On the other hand, every time you say “Colt 45,” it reminds me of Billy Dee Williams, and I smile.

    🙂

  43. DBS Says:

And because we don’t have Jameis in 3 years we “won’t have one at all”.That is what he means. So now his crystal ball tells him what this team will and will not have in 3 years??? Man get some help!!

  47. JimmyJack Says:

Another smack to reality of how Winston was not the leader we needed.

The list of evidence grows. Irvin knows these players on a personal level. He knows what’s up.

It’s nearly a fact at this point that the players in our lockerroom lost belief in Winston. And you cannot lead if your team don’t believe in you.

It seems apparent that all the mistakes Winston made is what cost him the lockerroom. Because of that it was time to move on…..Very likely if it wasn’t Winston moving on it would have been other key players……..Like JPP and Suh(who was reported as coming back because of our new QB)…….That very well may have been followed by Shaq and Chris next year.

And I’m on record of wanting Winston back but do understand why they moved on. Now with all this leadership evidence coming out I really understand.

If we brought With ston back we very well would be rebuilding all over again. It was too great of a cost for no real reward.

And don’t take this post as a hit piece on Winston. He just couldn’t get it done. It’s just facing reality. Will stop will get another shot with a new team. But he now must reestalish himself in a new lockerroom in a lesser role. He will have to pay his dues and he’ll get another shot.

  48. El Buco Realisto Says:

Sounds like brady has an honorary “brotha” card!!!!!!!!! It can come in handy during an emergency????? The “real” question is if Brady can talk “jive”!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. Jeffbuc Says:

So basically ndog said we would be better off in 3 years if we would have signed Winston. Because this year is the magical year he finally after 5 seasons of starting 5 offseason with The team. This year he is finally going to stop holding on to the ball to long stop sailing it 5 yards over receivers heads stop throwing mind numbing pic after pick. If we did sign your man crush it hat if he stays who he is a turnover prone middle of the road qb. Do you think in 3 years we wouldn’t be looking for a new QB. We brought in one of the best to ever do it. We signed him for two years. What fan wouldn’t be ecstatic about it. But we are al the idiots. Every professional that doesn’t sign jameis or tells it like it is are al idiots. All because you are so smart and watch film and see a great qb on film in jameis. Any quarterback in the history of the nfl that has started 5 seasons will all have some great film on them. But jameis has a lot more bad film on him than any 5 year stretch of any quarterback to play the game. What is so hard to get about that. Of course you can bring up this game or this game and look what he did. You just leave out al the horrible games to narrate your story to fit your story line.
