Buccaneers Sign A Quarterback

April 25th, 2020

There’s a fourth quarterback in the mix at One Buc Palace.

Bucco Bruce Arians was talking quarterbacks today in his post-draft news conference and noted Tampa Bay had its eyes on several quarterbacks as Round 7 of the NFL Draft began. But they all got picked ahead of the Bucs selections, Arians said.

He seemed down about that for a second but said it’s just the roller coaster nature of every draft. Arians added he was going to sign a free agent QB and it’s Reid Sinnett, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Sinnett was a one-year starter for the University of San Diego, with 32 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season.

Joe imagines the Bucs had the pick of the undrafted QB litter. “Hey kid, how would you like to train with Tom Brady, Tom Moore and Bruce Arians?”

  1. Easy Says:

    Never heard of him.

  2. Stanglassman Says:

There’s a good draft diamond interview with him for those who care to dig a little deeper into this guy. They sure snapped him up quick.

  3. Anglican Says:

Sounds like a candidate (with 30 td & 10 picks) for the All American Loser Jameis Winston 30/30 club

  4. Tye Says:

    a Long shot most likely…
Anthony Gordon signed with Seahawks.. Bummer!

  5. Stanglassman Says:

UFA signing OL John Molchon – Boise State looks like a good player. Expected to be drafted 6/7th round.

  6. Jason Says:

Actually he would be on pace for 90/30. I’ll take that. Lol.

  7. Stanglassman Says:

Tye- I was hoping for Gordon too. Why go to the Seahawks over Bucs?

  8. Joe in Michigan Says:

Did you notice that New Orleans traded for a pick in the 7th Round, right in front of us, to take QB Tommy Stevens of Mississippi State? They compare him to Taysom Hill, and BA has said he wanted this type of QB/multipurpose type (tried it with Nick Fitzgerald last year). BA said in the presser afterwards that someone took a QB right before the Bucs that he had his eye on.

  9. Stanglassman Says:

    Other Bucs UFA signings.
Jacksonville State WR Josh Pearson reportedly ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at his pro day workout.
Pearson measured in at 6’3 3/8, 205 lbs. while also posting impressive testing numbers. In addition to his 4.45 40-yard dash time Pearson also recorded a 41.5 inch vertical jump, which is just half-an-inch lower than the highest vertical recorded at the entire NFL Scouting Combine. His shuttle and broad jump were also in the top half of combine WR’s testing numbers as the FCS All-American enhanced his draft stock. Originally projected as a UDFA, Pearson may have launched himself into late Day 3 consideration.

  10. Stanglassman Says:

Joe in Mich- I noticed that too. Was that a defensive move by the Saints? Maybe just a less expensive rpo qb option.

  11. mark2001 Says:

We weren’t the only team looking at this guy…

Report: Chiefs had video conference with sleeper QB prospect Reid Sinnett

    From the Chief wire…

The 6-4 225-pound QB was named team captain and a starter in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl for the National team. Sinnett jumped onto the scene with a strong week of practice and drew strong praise from head coach Marvin Lewis and QB coach Jeff Blake.

  12. mark2001 Says:

    cont…

It’s easy to see the fit of Sinnett in Kansas City. He’s a smart and patient passer that doesn’t turn the ball over too often. He does a good job throwing on the move and picks up hidden yards on the ground. While Sinnett is a longshot to be drafted, he’s the type of guy who could come in as an undrafted free agent and turn some heads.

  13. Tye Says:

    Stanglassman – Exactly!
I felt Gordon had an actual future and capable of becoming Bucs QB talent!

  14. Joe in Michigan Says:

Stanglassman: It’s the Saints payback for the Bucs stealing Cam Brate and Ryan Griffin off of their practice squad.

    ………………..

Best true Zinger you have ever had Joes
    NOICE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Joe in Michigan

How did you like the draft overall? A? B? – Or worse?

  17. Robert Says:

He resembles BRady in a way. Either way we had bigger needs and have a vet backup QB

  18. VegasBuc Says:

Quick feet and decent arm strength.

  19. Buccfan37 Says:

I get a good feeling overall with this Bucs draft.

  20. Joe in Michigan Says:

Marine Buc: Probably a “B+”. I’d say my favorite pick was Antoine Winfield Jr., we’ve needed that type of player in our defense. On a side note, I was always an Antoine Winfield Sr. fan, he was a great tackler for a 5-9, 185 cornerback.

  21. Joe in Michigan Says:

What’s your grade, Marine Buc? I’m not sure on the Ke’Shawn Vaughn choice, he has a chance to be decent, but I was hoping a few other guys would be there for the Bucs in the 3rd.

  22. TheBradyBunch Says:

Stop please. No QB taken in the 7th round is starter material. Please spare me the miracle 6th rounder that is currently our QB.

  23. Rod Munch Says:

My personal rule of thumb… if no one has bothered to make a highlight reel for you, then you’re probably not going to make an NFL team.

  24. DBS Says:

Please spare me. Anyone that can’t even keep their same name and has to change it has no credibility.

  25. George Rauh Says:

I can’t believe the Bucs didn’t try to sign Gordan, Washington state

  26. bucshot Says:

Do your homework before you speak. The kid can throw Harold…..

  27. Oneilbucs Says:

Man Blane Garbet is trash if Brady gets hurt or his arm falls apart we will be 2 – 14 . This is a loser fanbase yall want every team wash up players . Me I’m about building our own team because I believe that we can . This coach is a joke and it’s superbowl or bust no excuses .

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Rod,

I was thinking the same thing. Only highlights I could find were high school.

  29. Bucs SUPERBOWL 2020 Says:

Mannn the BUCS SUCK ON FINDING GOOD TALENT THEY SIGN THIS IDIOT INSTEAD OF ANTHONY GORDON REALLY .. Bruce Arians must have vision problems worst than Winston !! first off that last pick in the draft should of been a QB if you would of picked up J.K Dobbins but no you pick up a safety !! There was a gang of good safeties in 3rd 4th what is going on here !!! Smh🤦‍♂️ Damn LICHT you need to get your head out your A$$ !!!

  30. DaBux Says:

Brady wanted to make sure he had no competition in camp. /sarcoff

  31. Bucs SUPERBOWL 2020 Says:

Man LICHT ALWAYS PASSING UP GOOD TALENT ! I’ve been with this team from day 1 . Seen all the ins and out but this GM GOTTA GO. .. he only saved his A$$ because he got Brady and Licht didn’t get Gronkowski out of retirement BRADY DID !!! Licht hasn’t done SH!t for this team look at his record as a GM IT SPEAKS for its self !!! I’m so tired of people making up excuses for this guy his trash . . Couldn’t even pull off a trade for Trent Williams but yet gets dooped by 9ers to trade up ! Yeah I’m going on off Licht because I’m so tired of seeing every year go to Sh!t with his sorry picks in the draft your scouts must suck or you just can’t spot talent especially passing it up 2Nd round when it was right there in front of your face !!! Ohhh but Ravens weren’t stupid !!!

  32. Joe in Michigan Says:

Yeah, Anthony Gordon is the best ever…Why didn’t he get drafted again?

  33. Robert James Says:

i thought the articlrE said 32 picks and 10 toucdowns at1ST AND THOUGHT WE BROUGHT BACK jAMEIS

  34. Tattoodonny Says:

Wow, some of you think we were “dooped” by the 49ers? So you didn’t hear on Rap sheet that Miami offered more then Tampa, but Lynch wanted that DT & was afraid Failcons or someone else would draft him b4 them. The only way to guarentee he gets his guy & the pick he needed (they didn’t have a 2nd, 3rd or 4th at that time) was swapping picks with us & for us to get the LAST top OT. As for LT Williams from the Redskins, they had a deal for OJ Howard worked out but once Gronk passed his physical we couldn’t take on Gronk’s $9 million & Williams’s $10 million without cutting someone or restructuring someone. Restructuring contracts comes at a price just look at the Aints, they passed the “Buck” for years down the line until there dead cap got out of hand. They’ve had the most dead money for years re-doing Brees & others. We’ve lived that way b4 under Gruden & Bruce Allen after the SB. Jason has done a great job with contacts we had the lowest “dead cap” last yr at around $200,000. Plus let’s not forget, our owners at times “make suggestions” to Jason to draft this player or that, like in the case of kicker Roberto Aguayo. They wanted him because of our poor kicking & he had the highest percentage of made FGs in the history of college football & he was a Seminole. Jason does make some bad picks like EVERY GM in the NFL does. He also makes some really good picks too. Let’s see how this years draft class works out with the players we have. IF we make the playoffs, the championship game or the super bowl, we’ll ALL FORGET ABOUT THE FUTURE! In the NFL it’s all about “What Have You Done For Me Today” not lately. Next year is a better year for us to get a future rookie QB to learn under Brady & BA not this year. Let’s Go Bucs!!!

  35. Bucs SUPERBOWL 2020 Says:

I can go on and on about Licht especially that year when they passed up on dalvin cook and ETC. I don’t know what the glazers see in this guys . To be honest he trashed a couple of years in draft picks especially the one where he drafted VERNON, Spence, and etc where are they all at now gone !! Especially that idiotic waste of a second draft for a damn kicker wtf !! Aguayo where is he at ??? Can anybody tell me , oh wait I’ll tell you all with out a job except Vernon when he got picked up by Texans but damn a couple of years wasted under this GM!! 🤦‍♂️

  36. Bucs SUPERBOWL 2020 Says:

    @ tattoodonny,
What is Licht gonna do with all those TE at least they could of released Brate, sign Williams and keep Howard on a 5th yr option under rookie contract. We have a gang of Tight ends . We could of used the OL help ! I’m just saying don’t get me wrong the 2nd pick is good pick, we needed the S help but that could of been addressed during the 3rd round . I mean I just go by the record Licht has as GM and it’s not a good one he might do good on contracts and stuff but that ain’t getting us to no playoffs..

  37. pick6 Says:

No worries, Aaron Rodgers is our 2022 starter

  38. I Bleed Pewter Says:

He’ll land on the PS because Ryan Griffin has no eligibility left and Blaine Gabbert will be the #2 QB.

  39. kyle Says:

    LICHT SUCKS

  40. kyle Says:

are you kidding me???? who the hell is the slap dk prospect we drafted as a running back.?????? Ronald Jones has proven to be unable to comprehend an nfl playbook..

  41. kyle Says:

we passed on the kid from ohio state that looks electric????? i dont know why the bucs have always hated running backs.. are we still butt hurt over bo?

  42. Bucsfanman Says:

Ya’ll are funny! You know that undrafted FREE agents can sign with whoever they want, right?! That’s why they’re called “free agents”.

  43. ItzOK Says:

We couldnt sign Jamies as a backup QB. I love the idea of Brady but he is old as hell. Now I have to watch the saints seamlessly move on from Brees next year and plug in Jameis for the next ten years and kill the Bucs. Meanwhile in a year the Bucs will be scrambling for a QB. Licht has pushed all chips in and it better result in a title.

  44. Beeej Says:

Had we somehow acquired Trent Williams, where would he have played? You can’t tell that guy that after 10 years he’s gonna play RT. We’d have gotten rid of Smith, thus freeing up the 10-odd million a year HE makes

  45. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

    a scratch off ticket

  46. Airjaded Says:

*grabs popcorn, reads idiot armchair GM comments *

  47. Day 1-76 Says:

    Worthless.

  48. Craig Says:

I am not sure if he is much of an upgrade over Ryan Griffin. He has to be better than Gabbert, but that is easy.

Give him a year or two and he might get close, his receivers were pretty bad all through his college career and he still had 32 touchdowns to 10 interceptions, that says things to me, good things.
