“All I Got To Do Is Get Out Of The Way”

Byron Leftwich

Life will change for Byron Leftwich once he gets to start coaching this season.

One of best friends, a future Hall of Fame quarterback, explained.

Leftwich spent years as backup to Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh, where he was screamed at a lot by Bucco Bruce Arians and also played a ton of golf with Arians and Roethlisberger.

On Thursday, Roethlisberger was asked what he thought of Tom Brady going to the Bucs during a chat on The Blitz on SiriusXM NFL Radio. The Steelers’ star said Leftwich already is liking his lightened load.

“I was excited for [Brady] because I knew who he was going to play for in Bruce Arians. And he’s going to enjoy the heck out of that because he was fun to play for,” Roethlisberger said Thursday on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

“Byron Leftwich, I texted Byron and said, like, ‘Hey, don’t screw it up.’ And he said, ‘All I got to do is get out of the way.’ So, you know, it’s going to be good for [Brady]. I’m excited for all of them.”

Figure out the roller coaster that is unemployed America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, or watch Tom Brady dissect defenses and raise the level of practice all week?

It’s no wonder Leftwich is ready to “get out of the way.”

I have no doubt BL’s job just got easier……

  2. DoooshLaRue Says:

    What’s BL’s salary?

  3. El Buco Realisto Says:

Brady had already won a superbowl before BL was drafted!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!

  4. BucEmUp Says:

Best news ever otherwise leftwich would have gotten everyone fired eventually

  5. Pewter Power Says:

Leftwich is smarter than we thought. Sit and watch Bruce Arians, Tom Moore and Brady craft an offense. Two years of that and teams will probably come calling for head coaching jobs for him and and likely gutting the biggest coaching staff in the nfl.

  6. Kobe Faker Says:

    “There he is

    Guilty as hell

    OC imposter

    Overgrown Arnold Drummond

Turn 4 yr 15 int avg per year QB into a 30 int mockery

Doesnt know how to utilize tightends and would turn Gronk into inline blocker

    8 days

8days into training camp and TB12 has this incompetent buffoon crying to papa smurf”

    Kobe Faker

  7. Chris K Says:

America’s QB is employed by our Bucs.. You gotta fix your typos.. You’re a pro, this shouldn’t be happening as often as it does..

  8. Jean Lafitte Says:

I think Tom wants autonomy to run his own offense. Watch him carve up defenses.

  9. Steven007 Says:

Faker, success as a player has zero to do with coaching. Let’s be real. Remember all those great plays Belichick made in the NFL? Neither do I, because they don’t exist. Grow up dude.

  10. Joe in Michigan Says:

Anyone who blames Leftwich for last year probably also blames everyone else for being a miserable person.

  11. permanent_moderation_doghouse Says:

Queue up the predictable Leftwich hate from armchair OCs… Bucs offense was near the top of the league all year… Leftwich was calling the plays.

  12. Jmarkbuc Says:

‘All I got to do is get out of the way.’

    Now there’s a winner attitude.

Josh McDaniels, like him or not, is a good football coach. He challenged Brady. So Byrons like “ Hey Tom can I hold your beer?”

  13. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Soooooo faker you know if jay miss started all games in 2018 he was on track for about 20+ also his fumbles. Either way he would be leading the NFL in turnovers.

  14. donuts Says:

Josh McDaniel, who failed as a HC in denver, challenged Brady??? lol You need to do more research on Brady, who may be the most self driven player in NFL history. Its a long road to go from average 6th rounder to GOAT.

  15. Locked In Says:

    What you talkin bout Willis?!?!

  16. Pryda...sec147 Says:

    Jameis I’ll miss you

  17. Oneilbucs Says:

If Brady doesn’t work we will be the laughing stock of the NFL.

  18. Soberinsac Says:

Didnt Brady say he likes to be coached hard? I dont like the attitude of just get out the way. Leftwitch should have confidence in himself to teach anybody.

  19. SOEbuc Says:

Bruce is going to be taking over as HC now with Brady. Which sounds very good. And BL is going to watch and learn. Byron for HC when BA is gone.

  20. Adrnagy Says:

    Garbage OC
    Garbage HC

Sad part is we won’t win.

  21. Bird Says:

    Late night

    Bucs vs giants game

  22. NOLES Says:

Kobe dont always agree w your takes but that over grown Arnold Drummond sh$t was FUNNY… what you talkin bout Willis!! Lol… thx for the laugh used to love different strokes!

  23. Knuckle Sandwich Delivery Service Says:

Laughing stock of the NFL. Sure.

That was with Mr 30/30 5000k check the sheets bro I’m balling turnover machine eating Ws guy.

Jameis signed with his Super Bowl team yet?

  24. Knuckle Sandwich Delivery Service Says:

That’s interesting. Last I knew you were bragging about Jameis stats. So if both of those coaches are garbage, yet Jameis still put up those stats, he basically did all of it on his own, without them. Oh, and we finished 7-9.

So now with Brady, you’re saying we can’t win. Well what if Brady just does what he wants to do and changes plays early and often? Because he’s proven he can read defenses and assess routes and coverages more efficiently than the blind JW.

So what you’ve said makes no sense. Again. There are 31 other teams you can support. Be gone.

  25. Youngbucs Says:

Oneilbucs and adrnagy still salty I see it’s ok. You guys seem to be getting better at least you’re messaging is subliminal and you’re not saying his name.
    It will be ok 😂

  26. Buc1987 Says:

    Oneilbucs Says:

“If Brady doesn’t work we will be the laughing stock of the NFL.”

    What else is new?

  27. TOM Says:

Keep Lefty out of it & the Bucs will be alright. I don’t ever want to see Lefty as HC for the Bucs. This guys a menace to the NFL.

  28. SufferingSince76 Says:

Kobe Faker, Oneilbucs and Adrnagy – and what NFL teams do you coach? Yet you know so much more. Your schtick got old a long time ago and you bring nothing to the conversation except whining like little girls.

  29. firethecannons Says:

After Jameis-he probably can’t wait to get out the way

  30. David Says:

I think BL was great last year. Now he doesn’t have a turn over machine, has an OC on the field, and hopefully will have a RB.
He needs to stay here 2 more years with Brady –
    take over if Arians retires
Write his ticket as HC somewhere else

  31. jmarkbuc Says:

Write his ticket…for just staying out of the way?

  32. BringBucsBack Says:

Here is a professional and prudent attitude that Byron has! How refreshing it is to find a coach that is malleable. It is rare; very rare!

Give credit to Harbaugh for designing an offense & implementing it to his unorthodox quarterback’s strengths instead of forcing him to be something he is not! It’s working now, right?

Most of these guys are arrogant twits willing to change for no one.

  33. Realbucsfan Says:

BL is fine to some degree. BA is cool but ego is his issue. the real issue over the last 6 years? Defense. Our secondary was garbage first half of the 2019 year and every year before that. We gave up points and lots of yards before we gave up 30+turnovers. We need to fix the secondary and our weak run game before we talk about QB play and oc play calling.
When was the last time we had a runningback that took pressure of the QB? You can’t be aggressive up front and run play action pass or manage clock control with a bad run game and half ass defensive backs giving up 300 yards and 3-4 TDS a game. Thank God for Barrett last year. Winston got too much blame over his career but we sucked before we got Winston. YI’ve been a Bucs fan for years coaching and drafting has hurt us way more then Winston.
Winston was only 20 when we got him that’s 4 years younger than most rookies in some cases you should expect a learning curve for a kid only 2 years out of high school playing big boy ball with grown men. We need to develop and draft better on defense and on the o line before we change our staff,Again. We need a consistent team identity which has always been hard defense and pound the rock, not throw it 40 times a game and be one dimensional. That’s why we turn the ball over so much. To many plays that take forever to develop and that is BAs system. Use your tight ends. Brady didn’t have either last year and he regressed. I coach so I know. We need to get back to running the ball and let our defense win games not rely on a 43 year old QB
