“I’m Here For The Entertainment”

March 25th, 2020

Chris Godwin opens up

Pro Bowl receiver Chris Godwin hit the national airwaves and talked all about the entertainment coming to the Tampa Bay practice field, and he shared various feelings about Tom Brady’s impact.

A visitor to SiriusXM NFL Radio late last week, Godwin said he can’t wait to see the passionate, high-level football interaction between Bucco Bruce Arians and Tom Brady.

“I’m here for the entertainment,” Godwin quipped.

But Godwin wasn’t all fun when it came to his Bucs.

He acknowledged that the offense left a ton on the field in the form of turnovers and missed assignments last season, and he said extraordinary production and efficiency could be accomplished this season.

It seems Brady’s leadership/impact has already been felt.

“I think everybody is more eager than before,” Godwin said.

“Just from what I can tell so far, he’s a fiery dude, man. I feel like he’s just eager to get down to kind of reprove himself in a new spot, which is crazy, man, because somebody that’s as accomplished as him to see that hungry is wild but it’s also very inspiring for a young guy like myself.”

Host Pat Kirwan, the former Jets coach and personnel executive, referenced his on-air conversation with JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman, and Ira’s concern about the Bucs being able to manage huge expectations in the face of many prime time games and hype.

Kirwan told Godwin things can go wrong in a hurry if the hype creeps into the locker room. Godwin said lessons of 2017 will help.

“There’s no doubt about that, man,” Godwin said of the dangers of expectations. “There’s a lot that we need to learn from. There’s some bumps and bruises that we’re going to take along the way. You know people love throwing preseason expectations up there because it’s fun to do and it gets people excited. … We’ve kind of been through this process a little bit. Like my rookie year, we had a lot of expectations when we first got [DeSean Jackson], when we had a really good team or a really a talented team. And I think you saw kind of how that turned out. And I think a lot of the guys that are still on the team from that learned from that. Expectations don’t mean anything.”

About him giving up his number, Godwin sure sounded like a guy who wants to hear Brady’s sales pitch first.

“I’m very passionate about my number. I’ve worn it since high school,” Godwin said.

He added it was no accident that he ended up with No. 12 and that ‘CG12’ has been a thing for him for years and he is attached to it. Yes, Godwin said he gets that No. 12 is part of “the legend that is Tom Brady.”

To be able to throw to Godwin, Evans, Howard and Brate. Wow! Can’t help but be successful. Brady knows how to use the TE position. Now just need to live till the season in order to see it.

  2. Lamarcus Says:

Trade Godwin for Edelman. straight up. We have a championship Qb on a losing team

  3. SteveK Says:

    LaMarcus,

I don’t get it? Godwin is worth much more. And he is making less.

  4. BUC CHEEKS Says:

^Drunk before noon Lamarcus??? You must be on vacation too.

  5. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

^^ Lamarcus, there is NO FRIKKING WAY on earth that I would trade Chris Godwin for Edelman, or anyone else right now

  6. El Buco Realisto Says:

“Word on the street” is that no one is happier to have brady in training camp then ole stale biscuit!!!!!!! While brady coaches and leads the team during practice, ole stale biscuit can disappear for his old man nap, errrrrrr I mean watch film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Bucsalltheway Says:

Edelman would be trash in a bucs uniform

  8. Bucsalltheway Says:

@LaMarcus I didnt know crackheads got down this early in the morning 😂😂😂😂😂

  9. Tye Says:

These receivers looked talented having to constantly adjust their bodies, speed and routes to catch passes these past few years… So to see what they can do when passes hit them in stride and throw them open, greatly elevates the excitement for this coming season…
It should be fun to watch defenses try to cover all these receivers without expecting a high number of interception and a pick 6 or 2 to help them get an easy win!

  10. Adrnagy Says:

What a dumb a** Godwin is ! Learn what? Not making mistakes ??
Do you know how to run Yes. Catch. Yes block yes. Pro bowl bcuz of jameis yes. Then … do your job and focus on you not others you dumb a**

And yes. “Things” are gonna go wrong quickly. Hype of winning is going to turn into hype of losing.

  11. 401 Buc Says:

Lamarcus is a troll… don’t fall for his antics.

That said, I think you can already see the respect that Brady is bringing to the locker room. I believe more players will be held accountable this year by teammates than ever before.

  12. Bird Says:

Buc cheeks And tampa bay demon

Lamarcus is being sarcastic cause” we just need to give brady what he wants “ and is upset Brady is here

He is just like Ndog who claims to support bucs but in the end will be spouting negativity all year unless bucs win super bowl

Cause after all …they were so close with jameis
    😂

  13. Bird Says:

And adr nagy is the third tool in that group

  14. Bucsalltheway Says:

Breaking news…cb janoris “mike Evan’s owns him” Jenkins inked a 2yr pacts with division rivals saints…so can we already count 2 3td games from mike evans… bradys throwing so maybe 4/5tds for me13

  15. Matt Says:

LaMarcus should have ALL of his posts quarantined after that! The only player in the league I would give Godwin up for is Patrick Mahomes or one of the Bosa boys. He’s literally a more polished more athletic version of Hall of Famer Hines Ward.

  16. Adrnagy Says:

Have you heard “try to do to much “ ?

That’s when “things “ are gonna go wrong

You can “see” players not focus already. They’re are like you .. bandwagon , full of hope.

While the 43 yr old virgin ha come out and admits he’s got challenges ,

Do your job ! That’s right we don’t have a coach to install and enforce that mentality. He blames and points fingers at you.

  17. Adrnagy Says:

    Bird
You’re just jealous your not part of the team… and your not talented like us. It’s ok. Keep reading and you’ll learn.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Even Brady should be against trading Godwin for Edelman…unless….Chris doesn’t work with him on #12

  19. Slugglife go straight to moderation Says:

The ass chapping over Jameis lives on.

  20. Slugglife go straight to moderation Says:

    Keep Jameis.
    Trade Godwin.

This is Lamarcus on drugs. Kids, don’t be like Lamarcus.

  21. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

FFS Godwin, you’re a great young player but give up the #12 without acting like a Diva.

  22. Adrnagy Says:

I bet you already place order for Brady jersey …. not knowing what number he will wear , smh

  23. Bird Says:

    ^^^^^

    See what i mean

  24. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

Tom Brady needs to pull up in front of Godwin’s house in a new 2020 Mercedes Benz G63 Wagon AMG Edition and toss the keys to Chris.

“Chris, give up that #12 and you’ll be driving this beautiful car for two years.”

Tom can do a couple local MB commercials and Godwin would get a two year lease. They could even film the exchange and use that as a commercial. It would go viral in this no sports news environment.

    Wouldn’t cost anyone anything.

  25. Bird Says:

Just learning from your knowledge . So smart

Like jameis winston 5 years 150 mil
    😂

  26. Bird Says:

    “Like us “

    😂

What are you saying dude? Do you even know? Or is your ADD at an all time high?

  28. 813bucboi Says:

FSU fans cant wait to see JW on ACC network as an analysis….lol….

we all know he’s done in the NFL….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  29. Craig Says:

Lord preserve us and protect us, LaMarcus has been drinking whiskey before breakfast.

Godwin and Brady are going to blow the door off of Brady/Edelman. It is going to be something special.

  30. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Ghost

I actually think your idea has great merit. It’s win-win-win.

Don’t know about a Mercedes though…at least not if JBF is involved…it will have to be a Ford from Bill Curry! Perhaps a really tricked out Explorer?

Don’t know if Bill Curry also carries Navigators but I’ve always like those…long before the McConaghy commercials.

Perhaps Joe can run this by he and Ira’s friend the GM out there.

  31. Chris K Says:

Lamarcus, I would say you lost all credibility with your Edelman for Godwin comment, but it’s not the first time you said something so dumb..

  32. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

I don’t see CG giving up the # for a Ford.

I mean it not like Ira giving up the booty for a free car or even a free beet salad!

  33. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Again Says:

Hey Joe start a thread and let everyone guess what # Tom will wear!!! He might actually want to change his # like he did his Team!! He could just as easily be TB11 or 10 or 9 or 8!!! I think he would look good back there in 8!!!

  34. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

New team new number. If he chose the number knowing Brady would come here then ok but let’s not get so sentimental. Now if Brady threw a 5 figure number at him well maybe then. Brady should take #3, win 2 superbowls and then the team retires it. If not then make that number unavailable from now on. It caused a lot of fans anguish and anger management problems. They might have nervous breakdowns if they ever see it again!!!

  35. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Man you guys fall into lamarcus’ trap each and every time. He’s a puppet master pulling on your strings!😜🤪😜🤪

  36. Will Says:

If Brady was to change his # I think he’d give a nod to Kobe and wear #8.
@Ghost I do like your idea though

  37. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

I like the #8 but sideways, like the Rolls Royce Black Badge logo.

Sideways 8 means infinity or ageless.

  38. ir8oldman Says:

Just signed A Monster named SUH! Now that’s entertainment..

  39. Ndog Says:

I love Godwin and Evans, but I hope one thing Brady absolutely does is get these guys to run better routes, cause while they are extremely talented they don’t exactly run great routes. While he’s at it the first time Evans just falls down for no reason he can chew him out telling him to get as much as possible. I look forward to players being held accountable for a once. That is one thing about Jameis I hated is that he never got in anyone’s face. I played that way and pissed some people off but oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do.

  40. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

Great points, Ndog. I am looking forward to those connections as well.

  41. 813bucboi Says:

    ndog

JW couldnt get in anyones face when he’s throwing 3,4,5 INTs in a game….lol…

the thing you dont understand is ball placement and recognition…..

brady understand why a WR may or may not run a certain route the way its suppose to be ran….so if ME13 round off an out route, brady will place the high and outside instead of hitting him right between the numbers because 1) ME13 has a large catch radius and 2) the CB will be undercutting the throw…..so place the ball high and outside…CB misses the pass because its high and outside his reach while ME13 catches it and get YAT….

CB would be playing to undercut the route and JW would throw it right to him…lol…

then folks like you would say the WR ran a lazy route without looking at the technique from the CB…..

route running wasnt the issue…..the issue was the QB…..

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  42. BigHog Says:

We all can spin the narrative to bend the story to fit ones objective, Tom B. has been a great player in this league, but we all know that at a certain age you walk out to practice and realize that you can’t do this anymore…I’ve been hearing for the last 2 or three years that he was thinking about hanging it up!!! With this new team and learning them a new offense….this will not be a EASY undertaking

  43. BigHog Says:

I was not finished…and how will sucessfull wide outs take to the criticism from Tom B. …all thoughts things should be worked out this summer hopefully! And as for the number Tom B. should wear, just give him #3 …that would show me where your umm mind set is….IF YOU GONNA DO IT…DO IT BIG THEN!! GO BUCS!!!

  44. BigHog Says:

all of those things should be worked out

  45. SB Says:

    Lamarcus Says:

Trade Godwin for Edelman. straight up. We have a championship Qb on a losing team

DUMBEST COMMENT OF THE YEAR SO FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DING DING DING DING DING

  46. stpetebucsfan Says:

    BigHog

Not to worry. Brady meshed very well with the GOAT WR…with all due respect to Jerry Rice…Randy Moss was in a different class…he had it all…size…hands…speed..and a fierce competitor the best I’ve ever seen.

Great WR’s love any QB who gets them the ball.

  47. Caleb Lee Says:

Honestly, I think it would be kind of cool to see Brady with a new number.

But.. to quote a great man:

“It’s like a new pair of underwear. At first it’s constrictive, but after a while it becomes a part of you.”

  48. Joe Says:

Honestly, I think it would be kind of cool to see Brady with a new number.

His number at Michigan, No. 10?

  49. BigHog Says:

Something is not adding up! Mr. 5,000 throws for over
5,000 yards, with two not one but 2 wide outs putting up over 1,000 yards and a pro bowl performance from young BUC CG12…and he still gets dirt kicked in his face (Mr.5,000 that is) ….so the best to have ever played the QB position Mr Tom B. comes to town and this is what I expect to see…at least two play off win season with at least 6,400 passing yards and at least 3 receivers with 1,000 yard

  50. Bobby Says:

Trade Godwin?????!!! LOL!! Now THAT would be monumentally stupid.

  51. View from 132 Says:

Welcome to Lamarcus, with the first of I’m sure of many stupid Patriot fan comments that will be some form of “our guy in New England was better than [player on Bucs]” … without actually watching any Bucs games.

If Brady is healthy for the full season, Godwin will be talked about with Hopkins and the other elite receivers, finally.
