“He Can Go To Any Franchise In This League And Turn It Completely Around”

March 18th, 2020

Ex-Bucs RB talks new Bucs QB.

One of the reasons the Bucs are trying to dig their way out of such a rotten hole from the Lost Decade can be summed up in one sentence.

Quit getting rid of good players!

Dammit!!!

In the lost decade, it is hard to think of an NFL franchise that tossed good players over the pirate ship into the drink, only for those players to go on to successful careers, some obtaining rings.

(And then the Bucs would compound those braindead mistakes by replacing the good players with stiffs. In some cases, the Bucs are on a third generation of players trying to fix something that wasn’t broken to begin with!)

A perfect example of this is former running back LeGarrette Blount. The Perry, Fla. native was the Bucs’ workhorse back when the Bucs last won double-digit games in 2010. When the Bucs brought in former Bucs commander Greg Schiano, Blount and Schiano didn’t mesh and the Bucs booted Blount.

So what did Blount do? He was only the starting running back for three Super Bowl winning teams, two in New England and one in Philadelphia. Blount also led the NFL in rushing touchdowns in 2016 with 18.

Genius move by the Bucs, right? That’s just one example of why the Bucs are the Bucs.

Of course, the two rings Blount got in New England, his quarterback was Tom Brady.

Yesterday, Blount, who Joe spoke to at the Pro Bowl in Orlando in January, confessed he still has a soft in his heart for the Bucs. The video spot was shot before it became fully known Brady was coming to the Bucs

Blount raved about Brady and was hip to the idea of Brady in Tampa.

“There is something about Tom Brady,” Blount said. “My opinion on him is he is the best quarterback to ever play the game so he can go to any franchise in this league and turn it completely around.”

You can see the full segment in the NFL Network video below.

Not only did Joe think it was (and is) cool that Blount still pulls for the Bucs, it is hard not to be excited about a guy coming to the Bucs who has so much respect from his former brothers-in-arms. Says a lot.

  1. Dave Says:

Chances are there will not even be a 2020 season so this is mute point, Brady would be 44 in 2021

  2. Gettinthebucs Says:

Still not buying this yet. Once the bucs official site announces it I’ll be on board. Having a hard time believing this really. This franchise is cursed man.

  3. mdsbuc Says:

I was so pissed when we let Blount go… It was crazy watching that big guy high hurdle defensive backs.

I’m just hoping Brady has a couple of years left in him.

    Go Bucs!

  4. Casual Observer Says:

Most agree that Brady is the greatest QB ever to play the game. Part of this accurate assessment is the fact that he is the smartest QB to ever play the game. Just watch any film and see how he instantly anticipates the D so well. Just need to keep him healthy. And young.

  5. PSL Bob Says:

The real kick in the arse will be if Brady signs with TB and then the season is cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Would that be a perfect ending to this fantasy land story? Only in Bucsville!

  6. isrBuc Says:

Always loved LGB. Sounds like a nice guy too.

  7. Tye Says:

Imagine the kids and the community’s reaction when the players are out at hospitals and just serving and see it’s Tom Brady…

  8. J Says:

This franchise is cursed no longer, you’ll see. Dont turn into a Robert, Ndog or a Tbagmaxpad man. Those guys were abused early on in life and never learned how to cope with their trauma, that’s why they always build themselves up on the sites and throw false narratives about how superior their thinking is to make themselves feel better. It’s Depth Psychology 101 and everytime they comment, their projection of anger and loss spills out onto the page.

  9. J Says:

TB knows what to do with the ball. JW made horrible decisions and made our Oline look bad imo. Just watch what TB will do now that we have some competence behind center.

  10. PSL Bob Says:

The real kick in the arse will be if Brady signs with TB and then the season is cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Would that be a perfect ending to this fantasy land story? Only in Bucsville! Fingers crossed, the curse is lifted.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Most every report has been very positive about Brady’s move to Tampa…..and it’s the only sports news…..dominating coverage….

  12. Diesel Says:

Correction Joe, LB won a ring with Philly

  13. Robert Says:

always liked Blount too! couldn’t believe he became a goal line machine when he went to NE. Just proves having Brady behind center opens up the defense.

not trying to take credit from Blount by saying that, but he took 3-4 yards to get a head of steam.

  14. LaMarcus Says:

Look at all the Brady nutthuggers. Slurpees lol. Is that what you call us JW nutthuggers

Deflate balls, cheating cameras, high wire locker rooms, etc. Eating Ws? Get out of here. Let’s throw temper tantrums on side lines. He should be out of the league and he threw a pick 6 to end the year. I’m not going to games because of him. We hate him

    See how that works

  15. MadMax Says:

Im buying cases of beer….will sell them $5 a pop from my parking spot

  16. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

LGB is one of my favorite players of all time. Despised the Little General (Schiano).

I love Jameis. I have no problem accepting Tom Brady as the new Buccaneer QB.

    Let’s go, Bucs!!

  17. crazyBucs_CL Says:

KUDOS to NFL for keep going on this troubled time…… and sticking the head in the sand like NBA and others….. they announced the draft is going on on the same dates, but without presents of fans….. great. is going to be TeleDrafting…

  18. DalvinCookRules Says:

Unless the Bucs change their offense to fit Brady’s style of play (and age), this isn’t going to end well… my prediction, and there have been very few incorrect ones if I may say so myself, is that 1) Bucs will not change their offense 2) Bucs fans will be wishing they had JW back by end of year (of course some will forever hate him no matter what) 3) people will wonder if Brady would’ve been so great had it not been for Bellicheat.

  19. Chris K Says:

LaMarcus, he’s our QB.. Either support America’s quarterback, Mr. Tom Brady or kick rocks! Your choice..

  20. reply Says:

This is NOT going to work sorry I just WILL NOT BELIEVE IT UNTIL I SEE THE W’s. Somehow and someway this will go wrong. Bucs are not a QB away from a SB. As a matter of fact we a so far from that I cant even put it into words.

  21. 813bucboi Says:

    lamarcus

no…we call you JW defenders LOSERS!!!…

did JW not throw a temper tantrum when he rans over shelton quarles?…

did he not throw a temper tantrum when he head butted the cowboys defender?…

JW threw a pick6 to begin his career and he threw a pick 6 to end his career…lol…

    JW threw a pick6 vs the 9ers week1 and threw a pick6 in week17 vs the falcons….lol….

JW was a walking talking pick6!!!…

    JW IS A BUST!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  22. reply Says:

I hate him to Lamarcus, but he is our QB……..for now.

  23. Buc_U Says:

Well the one thing nobody is talking about which well definitely help the Bucs is officiating when it comes to Brady. Our penalties should go down significantly.

  24. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Lamarcus

Thanks for being so clear. I used to read your posts but that screed wasn’t the post of a bucs fan but somebody who is blindly devoted to ONE player not the team.

That post saves me some time as I’ve now added you to my scroll by list with TMAX.

  25. Joe Says:

LB won a ring with Philly

    Joe wrote that.

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Tom Brady is NOT American’s Quarterback.

    He is The Immortal One.

  27. BucEmUp Says:

Bring back Blount!!!! He and Rojo would be nasty

  28. Mike Johnson Says:

I think my fellow Buc fans are smoking Thai- sticks. I don’t see a 43 yr NFL player doing much except collecting money. Now, I do hope I am wrong..for the Bucs sake. There is something strange about Father time. It will not be cheated. As we..are about to see.

  29. BradentuckeyBuc Says:

Keep this in mind. Tom Brady is going to be EXTREMELY driven this year to prove he can win without Belichick! That on top of the fact that he will make every player on this team better just by walking into the locker room.

  30. gofortheface30 Says:

“chances are there wont be a 2020 season.” Oh JESUS CHRIST stop.

H1N1 – that was worse. Use the Google Machine. People need to chill tf out. The hot summer heat will kill the virus just like every other airborne virus. I wish I could put myself in a medically induced coma for the next 3-4 months this is getting to be too much

  31. WestChap Says:

Blount has jewelry. I get it.

But, am I the only one who watched that grown a$$ man run up to the line on short yardage plays and… dance! Not hit the hole at full speed and drag a few LBs into the end zone like he did in Philly and NE, but freakin dance and hesitate. Yes, he did create some immortal highlights hurdling the 49ers but too few.

Some players need to get cut to wake the heck up… that’s LeGarrette. If you want to complain about losing some others, ok. But LeGarrette belongs in the Steve Young category of late bloomers not the Doug Williams category of self-inflicted wounds.

  32. tickrdr Says:

    @SPBF:

We should compare lists, because I, too, have a list. LOL.
I have even thanked some of the posters on my list, because they lessen some of the time I waste on JBF by scrolling past all their posts.
Of course, I am sure that even more scroll past mine, so there’s that.

  33. The Coroner Says:

    Bad Bucs cuts?
3 Super Bowl winning quarterbacks with new teams! One in HOF.
You could probably come up with a Pro Bowl offense and defense with their idiotic cuts.
Then thrown In a …. load of ugly high choices in draft picks made and Not made.
    Welcome to a pirate’s life!

  34. Slugglife go straight to moderation Says:

Lamarcus- nobody is worried about what JW does anymore. Don’t go to the games. Somebody will take your seat now.

  35. Slugglife go straight to moderation Says:

    D C R

Yeah sure buddy, we’ll all be clamoring for JW come the end of the season. Absolutely. Without a doubt. Take it to the bank.

  36. Soberinsac Says:

He had one of the coolest touchdowns Ive ever seen with the Bucs. Where he flips hid body verticly and reaches out with one hand to score. I remember all the questions about him coming out of Oregon. He turned out to be a great teammate and player. Shocked when we got rid of him.

  37. Paul Wiezorek Says:

The Bucs should have built Blount a little house at Ray Jay so he could walk to practice, not bother neighbors, and walk to the field. I had the most unfortunate experience of living right next door to him in a Tampa townhouse one year. Literally a horrible human being. You have no idea.

  38. GhostofSchiano Says:

Coronavirus meet the Florida summer, the closest you can get to what the surface of the sun feels like. Those germs don’t stand a chance.

  39. GhostofSchiano Says:

Which is why the season will not be canceled

  40. Buczilla Says:

Signing Shaq (among others) has us trending in the opposite direction and we are taking on “other” teams unwanted players. Cool video too.
