“Jameis Needs To Find A Sports Psychologist”

February 22nd, 2020

Offers slice of advice to Bucs QB.

We’ve heard it before and now we are hearing it again:

Jameis needs a shrink.

This time, that advice is coming from former Bucs offensive lineman and current popular local sports radio personality Ian Beckles.

In a recent edition of his podcast, “In the Trenches,” Beckles explained the enigma that is Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

On one hand, he is an elite quarterback who puts up numbers few human beings have ever racked up on a football field.

On the other hand, Jameis gives away the football like a priest does communion on Sundays.

Trying to fix Jameis was on the mind of Beckles.

“Is he our guy? We are going to find out real soon,” Beckles said. “Our team is probably in limbo as much as any other team as far as a quarterback situation goes. I really don’t think the Bucs know what they are going to do at this moment.

“I really believe the Bucs are contemplating life after Jameis. I really do.”

Beckles then answered an e-mail from a listener asking why Lavonte David, Shaq Barrett and Chris Godwin are all “dogging” Jameis this offseason bringing up his picks. Beckles said those players are just keeping it real.

“Listen, Jameis is a funny athlete,” Beckles said. “If you think Jameis sucks you are right. If you think Jameis can play you are right. As a teammate, you have to support but you also have to stay realistic. These players are staying realistic. They are not dogging him.”

Beckles believes the riddle that is Jameis can be found in another profession away from football.

“What needs to happen is, Jameis needs to find a sports psychologist and work on his mindset,” Beckles said. “Cause he can make every throw. It is about when you are making the throws, OK? And why you are making the throws.

“They say Jameis is smart. He has a good football IQ, although there are times he seems panicky and he makes those bad decisions. And I think a sports psychologist for Jameis is the best thing.

“I am just scared you get rid of Jameis [and] somebody else is going to figure him out and we will be watching him and go, ‘Damn, we had that dude.’ And we will have Andy Dalton or Ryan Fitzpatrick or someone like that. Be careful what you wish for.”

It’s not like this franchise doesn’t have a rich history of throwing in the towel on quarterbacks or not coaching them up, only to toss them in the trash and later watch them lead their new teams to the playoffs if not a Super Bowl win. The Bucs had three quarterbacks they drafted in the first round get run off who won Super Bowls with their new teams — three!

Holy Flirkingschmidt!

As always, Beckles welcomes feedback and encourages listeners to submit Bucs questions by e-mailing him at IanBeckles@RadioInfluence.com.

    Jameis isn’t going anywhere. Contract negotiations are best done in private, not in the press.

  2. BigHog Says:

    Mr. 5,000 …that’s what they coll him!!!

  3. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

    It’s the rest of us–the fans–who are gonna need a shrink before Jameis is done with us.

  4. Sport Says:

    If it hasn’t sunk in yet, he isn’t changing regardless of what you do to help him. He won’t respond. JW is who he is.

    Scared money never wins. Tired of the scared money losers bringing up what players do when they leave here.

    Did any person on the planet actually believe Trent Dufus would leave and win a SB? Hell No!!! But that defense was something. Which is what we should be focusing on.

    JW is a bottom third QB in situational football with great weapons. I’d give any QB available with the same or higher situational football history a chance.

    Whoever our QB is I don’t want to lose a single defensive player due to our QB’s salary. If we lose one because some other team overpaid (Kwon, Hump etc.) so be it.

    It drives me crazy that we are talking about paying JW $27-30M and needing to draft a QB for the future. WTAF!!!

    In BA I Trust!

  5. Bucsfan951 Says:

    I have little doubt that he won’t be back. I just hope they don’t over spend on him. If dude throws another 30 ints, I am (and a lot of ppl) not gonna be happy.

  6. Pick6King Says:

    Nothing short of a brain transplant will ever fix the turnover machine. This whole notion of “fixing” him is beyond laughable. Let’s actually try to make the playoffs instead of settling for the basement of the NFC south. #NoPlayoffs

  7. jim Says:

    winston will never throw 30 interceptions again. no head coach would ever give him that chance.

    Psychologists, psychiatrists, podiatrists; I dont give a damn!!!
    The Bucs need a different QB… Jameis needs a change of scenery.
    Carr, Dalton, Bridewater, Brady… just a few guys whom might be available and personally I think Derek Carr would be awesome in this offense. He knows how to use his TE and hes not just a dink and dunk guy. He can roll out and run, and make nice throws downfield…
    Hoping they make it happen!

  10. Jean Lafitte Says:

    There ya go!

    New eyes! ..new shrink! ..Super Bowl LV here we come!

    Yeah ..ok …seems we’re always on the verge every offseason.

    We’re 5 seasons in and contemplating doing the same thing again?

    Since we are doing played out quotes, “ A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.”

    I’ve been looking in those bushes and I can’t find a QB available that gives us a better chance to win next year.
    SteelStudMuffin- those dudes are booty except for Carr. I could see him doing well here. His release time is probably a half second faster than Jameis, it’s quick.
    I would still rather Mr Entertainment aka J5K to have a second year in this offense. 5k is no small feat and 30 int is an outlier.

  13. Bruce Blahak Says:

    He’s freeman and vinny testaverde more than Steve young. Let’s get that straight. Made so many excuses for testaverde too. So far as to wear only white cause he was color blind lol. Bucs can’t be influenced by past failures. Cut the frickin cord. He will never win anything.

  14. Jason Says:

    He doesn’t need to get a sports psychologist. He can just read the JBF comment section. We’ll get his head right.

  15. Bird Says:

    Ndog was the one that asked that question… 😂

    Its obvious that jameis works hard …has all the talent in the world …has high football IQ and knows where everyone should be …

    But when the bullets start flying he continues to make bad decision after bad decision . Its like everything gets thrown out the window

    Football is a team game. No question. But todays NFL puts more emphasis on the qb more then ever . Sure there are a few teams like the titans and 49ers that can run the ball hard and play great defense and win games without huge contributions from the qb. But at same time your qb cant lose the game over by turning the ball over sometimes 35 times in a season. Sorry but he is responsible for the losing culture and the players and coaches seem to think the same thing.

    I just think jameis is not worth the big bucks he is looking for …especially when defense is starting to ball out. They need to keep as many guys as possible.
    Maybe he just needs a fresh start somewhere else cause bucs will never take next step with him here. They should better record then they did last year- a winning record. Arians and coaching staff did a great job

  16. Todd Says:

    Because Ian Beckles is JBF’s ultimate source of authority…or something.

  17. Defense Rules Says:

    Ian Beckles … “I am just scared you get rid of Jameis somebody else is going to figure him out and we will be watching him and go, ‘Damn, we had that dude.’

    And there you have it; the argument FOR keeping Jameis that we’ve heard over & over & over, otherwise known as ‘Jameis will be a winner ONCE HE’S FIXED’. Until then, just keep pumping more money into the offense for ‘Weapons for Winston’ and ‘Protection for Jameis’. And oh ya, you’d better have a Top Defense because it’ll probably be messy until Jameis is fixed.

    But wait, just one more year. Surely THIS is the year Jameis gets ‘fixed’. The answer is simple according to Beckles … “Jameis needs to find a sports psychologist and work on his mindset”. Apparently Jameis’ problems are in his head. Of course, that begs the question ‘Why didn’t his myriad of coaches ever figure that out?’ You’d think that a QB Whisperer like BA, aided by a offensive guru like Tom Moore, would’ve figured that part out by now. But NOOOO! It took Ian to get to the heart of Jameis’ problem. Ya right.

    Anyone remember a Kenny Rogers song from years ago titled ‘The Gambler’? The old gambler caught his young counterpart’s attention with …

    “I can see you’re out of aces. For a taste of your whiskey I’ll give you some advice”.

    And that advice was … “You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em”.

    Pretty much describes where Bucs’ fans … and Bucs’ management … are right now IMO. But you can’t play scared, afraid that you MIGHT have won it all IF you’d just hung in there. That’s why they call it GAMBLING. And $27 mil or so is a mighty big gamble.

  18. OneBuc55 Says:

    News flash guys.

    Jameis just turned 26 last month… He’s played alot of football but imo, he still hasn’t hit his prime yet; at 26 you’re still a puppy in QB years…He can make all the throws, he’s competitive, he works hard, and he’s fearless when the play breaks down…These attributes are very hard to find in a QB…

    He came into the league very accomplished but a very very raw gunslinger who was thrown into the fire much to early on a bad team…as a results imo he developed a few bad habits…That said, hes literally fixed everything; the only thing left to fix is the bonehead plays and occasional brain-farts…

    Personally I think Winston is better suited to play in a run first ground and pound offense that allows him to get the ball out quicker, use more play-action, and his TEs in the passing game…Not a pass happy offense the forces him to hold the ball to long with no threat of a running attack…

    I like Winston and I still believe he can be really good if not elite…I just don’t see him reaching his full potential in Tampa…I can totally see Winston being the 4th QB drafted in the 1st round by the Bucs that goes elsewhere and wins a Superbowl…

  19. Bruce Blahak Says:

    @OneBuc55…your points are the very reason to cut the cord…works hard, yeah…but there ya go, Has put everything into it and has made no progress. A QB can have every talent possible but if he can’t make quick, safe decisions on the field none of the physical talent matters. And this what people still say 5 years in – he’s talented. Whipdeedoda. Who cares

  20. Buc believer Says:

    Ian is correct if he wants to re sign with the Bucs and put up with half the fans being ingrates he does need a sports psychologist.

  24. BigZ Says:

    No one in FA or the draft is better than JW. Bucs have asked him to do a lot to compensate for poor players and coaches around him. What if he had a BA type coach years ago?
    No let’s go back to the Erickson, Dilfer, Kings, Glennon, Zier, like we’ve had. Keep JW or work this off season for picks for Lawrence. He is the real deal, but dont do to him what you did to JW.

  26. Bucsgowithbruce84 Says:

    Fix pass protection and you’ll fix Jameis. The man has been running for his life on that team every season cause the tackles can’t keep a clean pocket for him. Jameis does makes some bad decisions but I bet you if they fix pass protection his interceptions cut in half.

  27. ian Beckles mother Says:

    I apologize for the remarks from my son. He has needed a shrink since he was three and has no business being an amateur psychologist. Anyone who has listened to his radio palaver knows the truth.

  28. OneBuc55 Says:

    @Bruce Blahak…I definitely respect your opinion…

    I just feel a change in scenary on a team that values the importance of a running game would really help Winston more than people care to acknowledge…

    This franchise/fanbase eats QBs for breakfast…A fresh start at QB imo would only give the fanbase a new whipping boy; assuming the lack of a running game and inconsistent protection continues…

    Yes Winstons decision-making at times is questionable…but every defense in the league knows we’re gonna pass 75% of the time so it kind of makes his job a little more harder than it has to be; Imho a balanced offense is very important to a young QB…

    Just my 2 cents…

  29. El Buco Realisto Says:

    Does this mean that Fitz is elite as well?????? In 2018 the Bucs had more team passing yards and more passing TD’s with less INt’s despite the backup almost playing half the season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  30. Tampabuscsbro Says:

    To be fair Joe. Williams wasn’t kept here cause the owner was a racist cheapskate and Young was traded away cause if you think the current bucs are a clown show oh you should have seen it back then.

    Granted Dilfer won…..congrats Dilfer was on a team with one of the best defenses of all time. Winston would probably at best be like Vinny Testeverde away from here. I don’t see him completely busting like Josh Freeman

  31. Tampabuscsbro Says:

    @Bucsgowithbruce84

    About that, Winston’s interceptions were literally so inconsistent that they can’t be pinned on anything but Winston. 19 of his 30 picks he was not being pressured and had a clean pocket.

  32. Antonio Wallace Says:

    All these football experts.. smh

  33. Craig Says:

    Jameis actually needs a QB whisperer to get his dung aligned. He is trying too hard to make his native talent work. He needs someone to bring his mechanics to the right place and train it till it becomes muscle memory.

    Maybe that will give him confidence enough to play the whole game. It is his only hope and maybe ours too.

    Eats QB’s for breakfast? And a new QB would give the fanbase another whipping boy. Lol. Poor Jameis is the victim of the big bad Bucs’s and the mean fans that haven’t treated and supported him well enough. Brilliant take.

  35. wantstastayabuc Says:

    For people who make a big deal out of the 5000 yards, you should realize this….. Just about any QB in history as reckless with the ball as the Buc’s current QB occupant would have been benched in favor of a competent backup long before the yardage bonanza was achieved. That’s why the “perplexing” combination of yards and interceptions is an aberration.

    To translate, few coaches have ever said, “Yeah, take as many chances as you need to, I don’t care, and I won’t ever bench you. As a matter of fact, I got rid of the last guy who threatened your insecurity, right?. Throw, throw, throw! We’ll ignore the bad and just proclaim the good(?). I’ll even throw your teammates under the bus just so you feel confident enough to proclaim that you’ve been ‘ballin’ at the end of a losing season.”

    I believe Jameis Winston believes he is supremely confident that he can make every throw at any time. Much like the Roy McAvoy character in the golf movie Tin Cup.

    “I can make that shot.”
    I know you can but not now.

    My amateur psychology degree thinks Winston needs to act more like a true basketball point guard, think Magic or Stockton and just get the ball to the open shooter.

    Maybe he needs to play some pickup basketball.

    Could not agree more! Yes, 5K yards is rare but look at the other times it has happened, not one of those QB’s had even close to the number of TO’s JW had. They threw for 5K yards because they were talented, not because the player and the coach were extremely reckless with the ball!

    I think that’s the problem right there. All the people who defend Winston are competitively indifferent and don’t care about winning. They are the first person killed in Fortnite, the last people selected for the pickup game of hoops, and the person who sees a parking spot at the same time as someone else and lets the other person have it.

That’s the advice we keep hearing and he wants to be the only guy needing a shrink while being paid 30 million because he panics and leading the nfl in interceptions every year even when he doesn’t play 16 games. Bad year for quarterbacks to be picking 1st in the draft

    You say things like the bucs have never had a quarterback reach a second contract but seriously where’s the context? Your blaming the Glazers? Because they only ran off trent dilfer who was no better than in Baltimore than here he just had a superbowl caliber defense. We did not have a superbowl caliber defense when he left, it was just beginning in 99

  44. BigHog Says:

    Slugglife: I see you and others don’t respect the accomplishments of Mr. 5,000 this past season, but just how many yards did we gain on the ground this past season?….I didn’t do the research …but I now you guys know…waiting. Mr. 5,000 knows his short comings and he knows only hard work and studying the game will make things better…Mr. 5,000 is working his off-season program as I speak…You never count your blessings at the table, there will be plenty of time for counting when Mr. 5,000 is done ” THE GUNSLINGER “

    “ll the people who defend Winston are competitively indifferent and don’t care about winning.”

    ~~~~~~
    With all due respect, this is pretty silly, man.
    It would be the same as saying that all of JW’s detractors would be UNHAPPY if Jameis took us to a 13-3 record, and earned a Pro Bowl.
    We all want to win. We all love the BUCS first and foremost.
    With all the infighting, I guess it’s easy to forget that sometimes.
  47. FB Moderated!! Says:
    This is where the fan perspective comes in. We wanted Jameis to be the savior of the team by being a great QB. That is not. He is average with some hefty flaws. This is the ultimate team game, need does drive poor decisions sometimes, ie Donavan Smith contract, however when it comes down to it, you have to put the best team on the field to win. It can be done in multiple ways.
    Unfortunately with Jameis, his flaws cause greater needs elsewhere, a stifling D and better running game. That costs money and that is money that jameis doesn’t get since he isn’t great, just good. FANS still hope he will be great, but when it’s time to put the money down you have to make the right decisions, and you don’t pay for potential.
    I have waffled on the Jameis question, although my posts may seem otherwise. But the reason being is everyone thinks he is worth 27 million. Didn’t everyone scoff when bridgewater was said to be at 30? I think both of those QBs are 20 million dollar men and not much higher. Bridgewaters name says what he will be for his carreer, but he may have an opportunity to win on the right team. I honestly think Jameis is in the same boat. Until he shows consistancy, he is always going to be a bridge contract with someone looking to replace him. He burnt up his potential credit and is now in the show me phase of his career. Nothing wrong with that, and he may turn it around, but until he does, you can’t pay him scared like people did with Foles and some of the others out there that are overpaid.
    Jimmy Johnson said around superbowl about Jameis, that he had learned a long time ago in this game, it isn’t about the number of plays you make, it’s about limiting the number of mistakes. That lies at Jameis’ problem. Turnovers are a coach killer, and if the guy who touches the ball every play makes them too often, no coach will ever trust him without a backup option. And a good backup cost money, money that won’t go to him.
    I am all for bringing Jameis back at 17 to 20 million. That is part of the reason I like Carr and or Dalton. With the extra 7 to 10 million, you can add a safety, olineman or another good player to improve the team.
    The biggest issue I have, is that I don’t see a backup for Jameis, even at 20 million, that would make me feel more secure if he implodes again, than having a more average guy like bridgewater, dalton or Carr at those lower prices. Guys who may not have the potential, but won’t lose for you on a good team, ala Tanehill.
    ==================
    Not quite sure I agree. I do believe the majority of the detractors of JW feel the way they do because we can’t seem to win with him. Fans of him say that we’d all flip flop to fans if we started winning and I do believe for the most part that is true.
    Bottomline, he was drafted to be the savior, he was talked up to be this amazing generational talent, and every time we lose, the JW protectors say it’s someone else’s fault. I admit that sometimes it definitely is, but that’s not the case every time. He’s lost us a lot of games. There probably still would be some detractors even if we were winning, but not anywhere to the degree we have now.
    However on the flip side of that, there are people who will defend him no matter what. I’ve seen plenty of them on these very boards that have even stated they just love how “entertaining” he is.
    I want to win, regardless of who is at QB, I’m simply past the point where I have any belief left that JW can be that guy. Plain and simple, I want him gone, not just because I don’t think he can win, but for his sake as well. He needs a fresh start somewhere else.
  49. FB Moderated!! Says:
    I will say a dumb owner like snyder may think highly of Jameis and overpay, but a coach won’t, because they are on a short leash too.
  50. THETRUTH Says:
    If JW returns and he plays as he has the last 5 years ( no improvement) i consistent and we lose. This franchise will be set back another 7-10 years. It will be hard to recover the players we lose to keep this guy signed and realize he reached his high already.
  51. WillieG Says:
    It’s not like this franchise doesn’t have a rich history of throwing in the towel on quarterbacks or not coaching them up, only to toss them in the trash and later watch them lead their new teams to the playoffs if not a Super Bowl win. The Bucs had three quarterbacks they drafted in the first round get run off who won Super Bowls with their new teams — three! Joe
    Are you kidding me? Why do you keep bringing this up? It isn’t a valid argument for keeping the turnover machine. Over 30 QBs have started for the Bucs. 3 went on to win Super Bowls. 2 of those didn’t even start every game of their Super Bowl seasons. Williams was on and off the bench because he was hot and cold just like he always was with the Bucs. Dilfer only played in 11 games and started 8 his SB year. He managed games. He didn’t win them.
    Steve Young was a huge mistake. And that was the ONLY mistake the Bucs made regarding QBs. I know because I’ve been watching from the beginning.
    If the Bucs get rid of Winston and he goes on to win a Super Bowl, good for him, but I guaran damn tee it will be in large part because his team was able to overcome his mistakes. He may play great once in awhile, but his team will have to win in spite of him.
  52. Anthony Dickson Says:
    To suggest the Bucs had bungled three qbs that they discarded and then turned into hall of fame players that went on to each win a superbowl is a bit misleading. Each player’s situation was unique, Doug Williams was a less than 50% completion passer and was offered a new(albeit not the one he wanted) contract and he chose to walk away, Steve Young was traded not because the Bucs thought he was a bad player and couldn’t develop him but because the Bucs had a very bad team and needed more draft picks to build a team and finally, Trent Dilfer, Dilfer has never been considered to be a great qb by ANYONE, he was the type of qb that NEEDED a good team around him to succeed, without the Ravens hall of fame defense Dilfer never would’ve won a superbowl. I have a ton of respect for Doug Williams but let’s be realistic, he didn’t have hall of fame career stats, heck.. the one year he won the superbowl was a year where he couldn’t keep Jay Schroeder off the bench, Joe Gibbs(the man that drafted Williams) only brought Williams to Washington to be a back-up. Dilfer was allowed to walk because the Bucs couldn’t afford to pay him and pay to keep the defense together and given that choice whom would you pick. The Buc’s problems are poor drafting and the inability to build and maintain quality playoff teams.
    Winston makes a lot of mistakes, no one can argue with that. And if we don’t have an excellent spirts psychologist on staff for Winston, our kickers, and others that is something the organization should absolutely have addressed before now. But our problems run much deeper than just our QB.
    Outside of 5 games four years ago and 4 last year, our defense has been atrocious. No lead has ever been safe or large enough for our team or our fans to feel confident. Maybe we’re fixing that, but I need to see an entire season of proof to have faith in it.
    We have had zero running game. Even the last year Martin broke 1000 yards we had to use a 6th down lineman and/or a fullback to create space for him. Now whether this is the fault of the backfield, the line, or the coaching staff (probably all three), other teams know they can ignore the run and game plan simply for our passing game. We make it easy for defenses to easily blitz and/or drop extra players into coverage because their are very few consequences for taking the gamble.
    Even though we have spent money and some draft capitol on it, our line is still mediocre on their best days. Neither the running or the passing game will improve until we get a solid, competent offensive line. Watch other games and it doesn’t even look like the same sport because of the time quarterbacks have to make decisions. There is a reason that opponents pressure our quarterback on almost 50% of the plays.
    Which brings me to Winston and the draft. Give Winston 3 years with 25m guaranteed on years 1 and 2, but make it heavily incentive laden based upon both production and ball security. 5000 yards, 30+ touchdowns, and only 10-15 turnovers should pay him north of $30 m/ year. If he knew that every turnover would cost him $250,000, I do believe he might start understanding the value of not turning the ball over as much. And as for the draft, OT in 1st, Dobbins or the LSU running back in 2nd, and then double down on OL in 3rd. (All while signing our key defensive players.)
    Before we go throwing away another potential Doug Williams or Steve Young, let’s actually give our QB the tools he needs to be successful. Then if he still fails to preform we can walk away knowing the team actually gave him a chance to succeed.
    Matthew Fifer,
    You are one of my fave commenters on the site. Your thoughts are always well thought out and expressed. You always look to discuss and opine with dignified discussion. Thank you for that.
    As a Jameis fan (which I still am), i can not deny that i too have come to a point that i am concerned whether he can truly be THAT QB that i have believed he is destined to be.
    There are times where his performance makes me feel there is NO DOUBT.
    And then he has those moments again where i start to worry about every throw.
    At the end of the day, i hope he is here and FINALLY makes us ALL proud to have him as BUCS QB, with a playoff season to boot. I know he loves TB and so badly wants to make us proud. I want it for him.
    But i have resigned myself to being ok with whatever shall be shall be….. and embrace whatever comes… at the BUCS QB position.
  55. FB Moderated!! Says:
    Well said Demon,
    Best case scenario is we bring back winston, he takes off and we are happy to pay him 30 plus the following year.
    The issue is do you go all in on a 50/50 hand? Or do you hedge your bets. As fans some are all in one way and others are all in the other way. Fortunately the Bucs will make a business decision on it and that is all you can do.
  56. Stanglassman Says:
    Everyone agrees that BAs system is complex and takes a few years to get down. It wouldn’t be fair to Jameis or the team to not give him a 2nd season in the system. There is no better option unless you got brady and implemented the NE offense and even that would take a few years to work. I don’t think the Bucs have the personal or coaching staff to change their offense around enough to make it work. A better idea would be to get Jameis under contract and beef up the OL and improve the run game. Re-sign your DL players and finish what you started.
  57. wantstastayabuc Says:
    Stanglassman,
    Respectfully, No, NO No. This is not about fairness to Jameis, who has existed in the rarefied air of no-competition in TB for the last 5 years. He was a first round pick, not a stab in the dark. BA’s system is not calculus, it’s football; drafted QB’s are now changing their teams for the better immediately, not after 5-6-7, or 8 years after they are drafted. Unless you are getting a cut of Winston’s next contract, you should hope they get someone else in here that is better. That would be cheaper and allow us to “beef up the OL and improve the run game. Re-sign your DL players and finish what you started.”
  58. Tvan101 Says:
    Yes none of those 3 superbowl qbs ended up with fantastic teams, Joe always says it as if they single handedly won the superbowl. Steve Young and Doug Williams had unbelievably stacked rosters.
  59. Bob in Valrico Says:
    Fairness to Jameis? How about about fairness to his teammates and fans. We should no longer accept the lip service that Jameis often speaks after losses. I just gotta play better gets old after five years. Credit him with making a vast improvement in his deep ball but that should not come at the expense of his short passes of 10 or less yards where I believe he had 17 of his INT’s. He has got to do a better job of reading defenses and preventing momentum killing INT’s. Bucs fans should expect more from a franchise QB who was supposed to be able to make all the throws.
  60. Anonymous Says:
    What a pathetic excuse for America’s Pick Six: he needs a shrink.
    Winston reminds me of Tony Dungy who said after every loss: “We weren’t in sync.”
  61. Mike Johnson Says:
    Luv the picture of Beckles here. Doing what he does best..stuffin his piehole.l
  62. Stanglassman Says:
    Fairness to the teams investment in him. In other words fairness to the fans and organization. Jameis has the highest ceiling and there is no better option for next season. It’s gonna be a monumental franchise F*ckup if they let Jameis go.
    Anyone who wants Jameis gone should propose their better option going forward.
  63. ATrain Says:
    BRING JAMIES BACK PLEASEEEEEE
    Just so I can do TOLD YOU SO JOE
  64. Howard Cosell Says:
    The Bucs had three quarterbacks they drafted in the first round get run off who won Super Bowls with their new teams — three!
    …..Quoted for Truth, Amen.
  65. Howard Cosell Says:
    That said the Bucs will never learn the most basic thing about developing players because that’s CULTURE and culture starts at the top and our ‘top’ is/was glaser siblings and boss hogg culverhouse
  66. Howard Cosell Says:
    So sad
    Pathetic
    I’d be embarrassed if it was my team, but it’s not, and sadly the real owners apparently don’t take kindly to accountability
  67. T REX Says:
    It should be noted that Manning and Big ben’s interceptions went DOWN in year 1 with Arians, Not up like the knob gobblers would have you believe. Please don’t fall for the needs more time crap. It’s a lie.
  68. MTM Says:
    If Winston was as valuable as some think. One would think he has tremendous trade value. He doesn’t and that should tell you all you need to know. Once again Licht will bidding against himself. Five years in and Winston has thrown up horrible interception numbers. He is who he is. Punt on Winston.
