Arians: “Really Nothing Has Changed”

February 13th, 2020

Don’t inhale!

The smoke over Tampa is getting very thick as Bucco Bruce Arians has ended his media silence.

Arians talked to TheAthletic.com Buccaneers reporter Greg Auman today.

And what about that QB situation coach with Jameis Winston, Coach?

“Really nothing has changed. What’s Door No. 2? How do we make the one we have better?” Arians said via Auman’s Tweets documenting their conversation..

And on Feb. 13, that’s about all you need to know. The powers at One Buc Palace are unwilling to publicly state their love, appreciation and desire to have Jameis be their starting quarterback in 2020. Now what the decision-makers say behind closed doors is, of course, a different animal.

  1. D-Rome Says:

Auman also tweeted a bunch of other quotes by Arians that I’m not going to paste here. In short, it seems as if no decision has been made and that the Bucs are willing to move on if the right person is available. Not a ringing endorsement for Jay-Miss. Before any of you start saying it’s part of negotiations, well, the team is also in negotiations with Shaq Barrett and Arians didn’t hesitate to say he isn’t going anywhere.

  2. mark2001 Says:

So there we have it… Arians is keeping his eyes open. If a better and more affordable candidate for QB appears on the horizon, Jameis is history here. And if not and Jameis is affordable, Jameis will be the Bucs QB in 2020. It is all based upon the evaluation and what the potential starting QB’s are asking.

On thing though…I don’t think Arians would be taking this way if we weren’t prepared to franchise Jameis if necessary. Otherwise, this might only P him off.

Hold on to your hats and pop up the popcorn folks.

  4. Blue-footed booby Says:

So I keep wondering, just where is this ‘market’ for Jaymiss? I saw Ndog admit recently he had ‘No idea’ who would give Jaymiss big starting QB money to be their starting quarterback outside of Tampa.

Maybe, just maybe Jaymiss has zero demand from the other 31 teams to be their starting quarterback and the Winstunned loyalists are just in denial. “But wait!” they say, “Winston’s gonna win super bowls when he leaves Tampa!” Yeah okay I feel pretty great about his future outside of the Buccaneers organization, and it’s very similar to Josh Freeman’s career after Tampa.

Again, NFL teams gain nothing by sharing what their plan is, even if they’re fully committed to something. They don’t want rest of the league to know and adjust their plans accordingly.

Also I Shaq knew for a fact that the Bucs were going to franchise Jameis it would give his camp leverage.

He doesn’t want to tip his hand to Winston’s greedy agent.

  7. 813bucboi Says:

BA also said, offseason priority is keeping top defensive FAs, not the QB….

we know shaq aint going anywhere based off what BA has said, and the way SHAQ himself has been talking lately….

and SHAQ has said himself he’s willing to take less to keep the defense together….

its looking more and more like a tag or a 2year deal with 1 year guaranteed….

either way if JW stays, BA will have a quick hook…..lol….

I don’t believe that AT ALL, BA and the rest are playing like they are looking for other options…..but the truth is: his age, and other people in charge capabilities…are not fit to go with a gutsy big change…… they are going to keep the status quo …

And give Tampa the middle finger

  11. mark2001 Says:

Stan..I don’t think they have any idea or any reason to franchise Shaq. He has said he will already give us a home town discount. So it is simply a matter of seeing what those offers or market will be and pretty much matching them. It isn’t a matter of having to outbid anyone. You don’t franchise a guy like him.

  12. mark2001 Says:

Clean… if he did that, I’d say good riddance. This organization put every asset into helping him become a successful franchise QB. You don’t give the finger to an organization that does that…. you simply say it is unfortunate for everyone that it didn’t work out.

  13. 813bucboi Says:

    please dont block me joe….lol…

Bruce Arians said Thursday that his priority is the defense, particularly re-signing outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett, who led the NFL with 19.5 sacks this year.

“Oh yeah. To me, it’s the whole defense,” Arians said after speaking at the NFL Coaches Academy. “You can’t get em all but we’ve gotta get … this team right now, the last eight games, our defensive statistics were … those young guys grew. We can’t let that go. I don’t care who’s my quarterback. We’ve gotta have a defense.”

A source close to the situation told BSPN the decision was Winston’s and not done at the team’s insistence.

When asked if he felt closer to having more clarity on his quarterback situation, Arians said, “No, because you don’t know who’s available. You’re just sitting and waiting to see is there someone available? And is he a better option?

“That’s the problem. You get about three days to decide — the legal tampering [period]. Is somebody else gonna get let go? What’s the trade values? It’s really monotonous right now because you don’t really have any answers.”

BA dont strike me as a coach whos “scared” to tip his hand……lol…..if that was the case, he wouldve never said shaq aint going anywhere…..

Mark- I agree. But having that option gives you leverage.

  18. NPRSageBoy. Says:

    It’s called negotiations.

In New Orleans, Taysom Hill openly says he’s a franchise QB.

In Tampa Bay, JayMiss says he’s ballin’ and we should check our sheets

Point being, if you’re good, you shut your pie hole and let your agent so the talking

    Peace, out.

  19. Pewter power Says:

Media is ok with Gruden not committing to a quarterback, it’s more than ok for a turnover prone qb

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I agree that Winston has been given every possible opportunity to succeed…….coaching attention……he’s got 4 now….BA, BL, Chirstiansen & Moore…..
He got his 5th year with some good bucks…..
It’s time for Winston to cooperate as best he can with the team…..they will let him walk if he overprices his services…..and if they think he’ll have a bad attitude with a tag….they will replace him.
The team holds all the cards…..they can bring in a FA or draft a QB or both.
The 30 interceptions caused JW to lose leverage.

  21. Ndog Says:

If I’m Jameis I’m gone and say good luck with your old a$$ washed up QB or rookie trying to learn this offense. If you think he sucks so bad let him walk and let’s see how you do. Saying he doesn’t care who is QB is like he can win with anybody, well we just might see and odds are if it’s anyone other than Jameis it wont be pretty.

Brady really he might last here 5 weeks.

Rivers that guy is so done but sure he would be great with no running game and holding the ball forever.

Dalton just really, are you serious.

Flacco, please stop me from laughing

Bridgewater, have you ever seen him win a game without a top 5 running back?

Rookie, you ready for that step learning curve?

  22. D-Rome Says:

If I’m Jameis I’m gone and say good luck with your old a$$ washed up QB or rookie trying to learn this offense

If I’m the Bucs I say good luck competing against Mitchell Trubisky for the Bears starting job.

  23. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Nothing has changed, AKA, the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback will be Jameis Winston, as long as he doesn’t price himself out of here.

I’m pumped, this dude is about to go off this year. Sometimes we have to hit the bottom to reach the top. I believe last year will have a lasting affect on JW and he will take much better care this year.

  24. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Don’t remember the Eagles, Falcons, Rams, Seahawks 49ers or other teams drag their feet this long to resign their starter…

    Pretty telling stuff

Not a good look for Jameis to fix his eyes 5 years into his career shows the team they weren’t getting him at his best

  25. Wesley Says:

More and more it feels like they’re moving on from Jameis.

  26. Thomas51 Says:

Agree Alaskan. Jameis is our QB. He alone did not lose every game we lost last year. I totally understand the frustration with the interceptions, however he came back and won, and put us in a winning situation several times.
Being a Buc fan is frustrating, but I personally believe, 2020 is our year.
Go Bucs. Keep JW, our defense and get a FN running game.

  27. Bird Says:

His silence is a very telling sign . He wont really comment

Yet went out of his way to say Shaq isnt going anywhere

And look at arians comments at end of year in regards to jameis play
Im not saying bucs move on from jameis but im sure they do not want to pay what he /agent are looking for

  28. Sport Says:

So glad we have BA leading us in this situation. I believe him when he says the Bucs can win with JW and with another QB. Whoever it is has to take the job for the right price.

It’s not a hard thing to understand, but some of you are too emotionally charged to understand it.

    In BA I Trust!

  29. BrianBucs Says:

Arians also said that they are waiting to see who shakes loose in free agency what some people’s trade value is.
Looks like the Bucs are trying very hard to see what all of their other options are

  30. Defense Rules Says:

    Sport … Agree 100% … “It’s not a hard thing to understand”.

  31. LaMarcus Says:

Is he a qb whisperer or nah?

  32. BrianBucs Says:

The discussion with Arians was much longer than just what Joe mentioned. Everyone should listen or read for themselves.

  33. BrianBucs Says:

The discussion with Arians was much longer than just what Joe mentioned. Everyone should listen or read for themselves.
Sounds like nothing is going tp happen or no decision will be made until the start of free agency

  34. AL Says:

I searched the internet today to find out the average points scored off
turnovers. The answer surprisingly came out to eight.Average-4 for offense losing the ball (not scoring ) and+4 for defense scoring. It is the same for fumbles andinterceptions. 8×30=240 points Winston gave up not counting his fumbles.
Sure throws a different light on his output!

  35. mark2001 Says:

Joe… you left out a great Arians quote from Buccaneers.com…

“I don’t care who’s playing quarterback, we’re going to have a defense. [Otherwise,] we’re back to Square One.”

So anyone think we will overpay for Jameis or any other QB?

    Don’t think so.

  36. mark clements Says:

Jameis should tell BA to f off and go to Indy where they have a running game and be the fourth qb to leave and win a Superbowl

  37. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Can’t be a QB whisperer if your not calling plays or if the player isn’t coachable

  38. Smashsquatch Says:

Negotiating…. So what he’s saying is he likes Jameis if he’s on sale but not at retail price. Tells me JW is asking for more than BA is willing to pay right now and BA is evaluating all other options. If they decide to keep him, JW will get the non-exclusive franchise tag and the Bucs can pray someone is willing to offer him a contract in excess $27m and he takes it. If so, Bucs move on and recoup two #1 picks as compensation. No team will do this. The other option is to trade for or sign another QB in the $20-$30 range. I don’t think BA nor JL have the guts to walk away from JW. Both would be admitting failure and likely fear the consequences of JW becoming successful elsewhere.

  39. footballjunkie Says:

    Brady.

    And Bell.

All you have to do…is PAY and trade a low round pick (Bell).

If you don’t think, that both player acquisitions wouldn’t appeal to the other….OR…that landing BOTH wouldn’t change the NFL TV schedule this season dramatically, season tix sales, jersey sales, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc….UR crazy.

So dudes with $$$ coin in ownership…could just decide…to make it so.

$45 million per year over 2 years for Brady, with club option for 3rd year, fully guaranteed for year one….in no income tax state….will get his attention.

You make up your mind, to land Brady. Because of WHAT ELSE it will do to your franchise. And go GET Bell…deliberately. Defense intact and re-signed.

  40. OneBuc55 Says:

I like BA but this guy is the classic BS’er at times…

Remember ” the secondary is totally fixed”…

This is a poker game right now between the franchise and JWs rep; the objective is to get the “scratch and dent” discount…the last thing BA wants to do right now is show his hand…It’s called negotiation guys…

  41. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Jameis is going to be extended bet.

  42. Ndog Says:

I can’t wait to watch the great Andy Dalton or the immortal Teddy Bridgewater. This is all such a freaking joke. It’s getting to the point if I were him I would leave no matter what just so I could shut these stupid mother cluckers up and say I hope you enjoy your door number two, so while I’m still getting better and better in five years you will still be looking for your next QB. This franchise is a JOKE!!!

  43. CrackerBall Says:

Interesting timing for the eye surgery… can Jameis now imply that it was the compromised eyesight, and not the crappy judgement or over-confidence, that caused all those INTs?

He knows full well a long-term decision is being mulled over about his future here.

  44. Tye Says:

So if they end up with Winston it not because they believe in him or endorse him but actually because they got stuck with him not having the qb they would ‘rather have’ pop up behind door #2!

Man, hopefully the door #2 produces Arians desired Qb or he may just retire early again if stuck with losing…

  45. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Derrick Carr.

    And bye bye Ndildo.

  46. Ndog Says:

Derek Carr the guy who threw the ball into the ground on 4th down with the have in the line. Yeah that’s the guy I want leading my team. You people are ridiculously CLUELESS.

  47. El Buco Realisto Says:

Ole stale biscuit has to be wondering how he got stuck in this situation!!!!!!! “Word on the street”, is that ole stale biscuit knows he can’t fix jay-miss!!!!! But he can’t jay-miss walk away, because then all the fans will ask why licht Wright is still the GM???? And why is stale biscuit here just to retire in a year!!!!! And why draft a new qb to fit ole stale biscuit’s when ole stale biscuit is leaving in a year or so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the only solution, was sign “blameless” cheap, and sign free-agent in hope that the roster was finally good enough to “DRAG” jay-miss to meaningful games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And when Jay-miss’s camp released that they wanted 30 million, ole stale biscuit was p!$$3[ !!!!!!!!!!!!! He was a new shade of purple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now ole stale biscuit sits in a “no win” situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  48. Eric Says:

Man I hope they franchise JW and he have the same type year but cut the ints to 12 and then he can tell this organization to go get screwed with a 12 inch pecker!

  49. BrianBucs Says:

    Eric

The only way to reduce Winston’s interceptions is to reduce the amount of times he throws the football

  50. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Ndog

So DC’s one big mistake vs. how many pick 6s and other oh so entertaining f-ups?

  51. Atypical Informed Fan Says:

Winston is going to Vegas for $30M, 3 years. The Bucs can have Dalton, Carr, Mariota, Rivers or any of the inferior QBs available except Brady who ain’t coming here. Another monumental flub by this star-crossed franchise.

  52. Tampabuscsbro Says:

    Daily reminder

If you are literally seething THIS much about Winston not being the QB you’re not a buccaneers fan you’re a Jameis Winston fan. You guys act like he single handedly willed us to every win we had.

  53. Chris l Says:

Again whatever Arians decides I am on board with. Keep him or dump him there’s arguments on both sides but I trust arians.

  54. Craig Says:

It is going to come down to money. If Jameis overprices himself we have a new QB.

Jameis really does need another year here to prove to the rest of the league that he can be a real QB. That means that he will probably be back with a tag pasted to his forehead.

I think he will be benched by the fourth game, but it is up to him. He has come to camp rusty and out of shape. That has made for consistently bad season starts. He does that again and either Griffin or a rookie is taking snaps.

Whatever, the Bucs will be drafting a QB.

  55. BigHog Says:

Ain’t nothing changed but his name “Mr. 5,000″…looking for another “5 on it” in 2020 !!!

  58. JimmyJack Says:

NDog the franchise is yet to make a public decision on this. And you are insinuating they are a joke because fans are talking about other QBs? You do realize this decision will be made by a handful of people and not the fans don’t you?

Honestly your opinion sounds like the only joke here. Now if you wanna suggest they are a joke for their overall performance over their existence that’s valid. But that’s not what your doing. Calm down before you wet yourself and save your whining til after they decide. But it looks like they are bringing back Winston so you’ll have nothing to whine about from the organization.

    GO BUCS!!!

  59. JimmyJack Says:

If we do go for door number 2 my top choices would be to try for a trade. Stafford would be my top target and old ass Big Ben would be my second. Third would be trade for Carr.

If we gotta go free agency I would Rivers. Not sold on Brady and the article from yesterday with Chris Simms comments has me off that train now. Think Dalton might actually work out better.

  60. footballjunkie Says:

    Regular…folk..here.

  61. gotbbucs Says:

Arians absolutely will not hamstring the defense by spending a fortune on a QB or RB. He’s been able to get production out of every QB he’s had. He believes in his system.

  62. Tval Says:

Winston haters are delusional. Somehow, 4 coaches in 5 years, STILL NO RUN GAME, OLINE, OR DEFENSE FROM ANY, and this is “being given EVERY chance to win.”
In WHAT world, you dimwits??? Lmao!!!!! ANYONE who stated that is remedial…AT BEST!!! Jameis has a market in Chicago, Indy, Cincy(if theyre smart) WSH, SD, DEN, and POSSIBLY even New England. BELICHECK remembers that meeting. Jameis played MULTIPLE games, THIS SEASON, better than either qb in that super bowl. NOW give him THOSE defenses, olines, and running games.
Just say youre a gator fan and save us some time, you sad sacks. Lol!!!!!!!

I know it is scary to try and find a better qb when we have a wait until next year legend qb going into year 6 of this is the year. But get a grip dude your love for him is blinding you.

  68. Smoov Says:

Idk how “how do we make this one better” equals potentially letting him go. Lmao

  69. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

footballjunkie, you are living in a dream world. No way Brady signs for two years for less than $60m with any team except the Patriots…and that’s where he will play in 2020. On a one year deal.

  70. Ndog Says:

Bottom line if you want Jameis here or not I don’t see how he ever plays for this coach or team again. There is zero reason for them to treat and talk about him the way they are. If you don’t want him fine just let him go and stop hurting his value in the eyes of others. Even if you think he flats sucks the fact remains he works hard, plays hard, is always sticking up for his teammates and never says anything negative about his teammates. This is just another example of this organization being bush league and why we continue to suck. Ask yourself this if you give your all, played through a broken thumb, played through a torn meniscus and still gets blamed for everything despite the crappy running game, defense and kicking game wouldn’t you think let at least treat you with respect? Secondly if you were a free agent would you want to play for an organization that would do that? Again performance means nothing in regards to how you treat people. This is just embarrassing to us all regardless if you want him here or not.

  71. tmaxcon Says:

Considering playing for the bucs is a disgrace not an honor jameis has earned his parole from the most laughable fanbase and franchise is sports….

  72. Smoov Says:

All the people that think that door #2 is another QB are salivating at another very clear and standard presser that still favor Winston. The deal is already done to tell the truth.

  73. tmaxcon Says:

Remember Tampa Bay owns the worst winning percentage in NFL history not Jameis…. losers throwing rocks in glass house is the definition of low standard bucfan

  74. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Jean Lafitte Says
“Licht with his public obsession for Jameis will sign him to 30+ mil contract.”

Maybe. Really, it’s not a bad idea to do a $30m per year, 4 year contract with Jameis. Just make it $25m base salary and the rest incentices, with a 2 year guarantee. Gotta guarantee at least 2 years, because the first is already guaranteed at signing.

So, essentially, the value of the contract would be $30 million per year, which is what Jameis reportedly want, but the actual payout is only $25 million per year, unless he meets the incentives. In that case, it would be a great thing.

  75. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Ndog, it isn’t the organization talking about him, it is fan, media and former players who want attention. Don’t let these trolls get to you.

  76. SteveK Says:

Can’t wait to see what happens. Get your popcorn 🍿 ready!

I wonder which QBs hit FA. Good year to be looking for a QB. Really good year.

  77. Eric Says:

    BrianBucs
If you bring the offense of line up and get the running game going I’m cool with that be more balanced what is wrong with that!

  78. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

And, btw, people. Outside of tjis year, Winstons interceptions have not been bad at all. And as far as he fumbles, many of the recorded fumbles were the fault of the centers we had before our current one, or of the running back not taking the ball properly.

And remember, on year he injured his shoulder (throwing side) in game two and played anyway. That entire year, the oline played horribly, which resulted in that injury and the majority of fumbles.

Not saying Jameis is always blameless, but he is certainly not always the one at fault.

  79. Ndog Says:

No Bonzai it is Bruce Arains with comments like “I don’t care who my QB is” or “is what behind door #2 better”. Those comments display zero belief in Jameis. And having zero belief is fine just let him go then and don’t drag him through the mud, if you think Andy Dalton, Teddy Bridgewater or old man Rivers is better again fine just say we’ll see what happens and move on. Now of course if you think those guys are better you clearly are an idiot, but again that’s ok just keep your idiot opinions to yourself and quit disparaging a player that literally had given everything he has including risking long term injury for this team. Simply be a freaking professional you known like Jameis is being.

  80. Ndog Says:

SteveK you’re and idiot just do us all a favor and shut the f0ck up!

  81. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

  84. Ndog Says:

If they franchise him he should say no thanks, I’m not a consolation prize go with your door number two.

  85. footballjunkie Says:

    @Bonzai…

Weren’t you the one…that someone said before so appropriately…was supposed to on your BEST day, clean the tables in the food court…rearranging the salt and pepper shakers, etc…??? Yeah. It was your…self.

$45 million, PER SEASON…times 2 seasons. $90 million. First season fully guaranteed.

You idiot short bus tard sqwuaker.

  86. SteveK Says:

I want another super bowl for the Bucs!

I don’t want to pay franchise tag dollars for all the turnovers.

I don’t know how that makes one an idiot, or they they should stfu?

Not unless it’s come from a fan that is more pro-Jameis than pro-super bowl.

  87. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Ndog Say
“No Bonzai it is Bruce Arains with comments like “I don’t care who my QB is” or “is what behind door #2 better”.”

You’ve got to keep in mind that Arians has to say those tjings. He’s asked leading questions. He cannot say, “if we don’t have Jameis, we cannot win.”

Also, the door #2 comment is just reality. If Jason Licht comes to him and says, “Would you like Dereck Carr?” , well then he’d have to ask, is Carr better than Winston? If not, stick with Winston.

If Licht says, “You won’t believe this! The Cowboys just offered us Dakk Prescott for Winston and our first round pick!”

Then Arians would have to weigh things and make a decision.

    He’s just being honest.

For what it’s worth, I think Arians wants Winston to stay, and Jameis wants to continue learning from this staff. He wants to become the best, and Arians is his best bet.

The rest is smoke and mirrors, or media trying to drum up discussion.

  88. JimmyJack Says:

NDog that’s ludicrous. Drag him through the mud? Get me a break bro. Arians just telling it like it is bro. Not to even mention their is a negotiation at foot.

He was damm on right when he said their a lot of good and a lot of outright terrible. That don’t display zero faith it’s called 100% honesty. I’m sorry that the truth hurts you but I appreciate the honesty. You expect the guy to turn his head from reality?…….Thats bent. He’s a football coach not a politician.

It’s not dragging through the mud when he’s just saying what everybody knows including Winston. Dragging through the mud is when you exaggerate to make a situation sound worse. I resent your opinion on this………It Stu like this why fans lable you as an apolisist, a excuse maker and a nuggler. Your opinion simply does not match reality.

  89. Jeffbuc Says:

Ndog you say the way they treated him. You mean they neglected the defense and gave him every weapon possible. They drafted offensive lineman two in the second round one in the third. They drafted a first round tight end. Gave him one of the best receiving cores in the game. They made a free agent center the highest priced at his signing. And yet what does he continue to do the same bone headed interceptions that a 5th round rookie QBs wouldn’t make. He knows he needs to cut down on turnovers talks about it all the time and yet rewards them with the first 30 interception season since most fans were born. And then he reward the bucs with a off season groping incident where every sports talking g head was saying we should cut him. But no we didn’t and gave him his starting job back. And what does he do blow the bengals game by throwing 5 interceptions. Do we keep saying every year this will be his year. And sign him to a 5 year deal. And then in 2025 we are still saying he is only 30 is there anyone better available he throws for a lot of yards but. After a while you just can’t keep giving him chance after chance. It’s like a baseball player that hits 40 homeruns but leads the league in strikeouts it’s great for a couple years hoping he cuts down on strike outs. But when he doesn’t and stays what the last 5 years has shown us your the Baltimore Orioles stuck with Chris Davis on a contract you can’t trade and cost you games for going 0-5 every other game. But every third game he hits a home run. He is who he is we have had a 5 year window of him and he hasn’t gotten any better from throw one in his nfl career. But yeah let’s do that 4 letter word for the nest 5 years and HOPE this is the year it clicks. What more do you need to see he makes horrible decisions and could just as easily had 40 interceptions this year without the drops. Do you watch any other football games and see other QBs make maybe 2-3 contested throws all game at most. And the turnovers aren’t the worst part it the inaccurate throws on crucial downs. How many times have we punted because he sails a pass 5 yards over a wide open receivers head. And like I always said 14 out of 16 games his first half stats are always right around this. 8-17 for 63 yards 2 interceptions. How can you win games like that. Look at are record the last 5 years you can’t. When ha e you ever seen jameis come out and be 11-11 or even 9-9 for 160 yards 2 tds 0 Ints. Never and that’s the biggest problem we are always playing from behind with him. And I saw a stat where him and Blake bortles lead the league since they both entered with most passing yards while down more than 10 points. So he accumulated a lot of his yards in garbage done defense time.

  90. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    SteveK Says
“I want another super bowl for the Bucs! ”

If we change QBs, there is almost no chance of that happening in 2020.

  91. SteveK Says:

    49 interceptable balls

    4.5% INT rate

    34 TDs: 35 Turnovers

    12 fumbles

    5 fumbles lost

    46 sacks

7-9 record: started 2-6/ and then went 0-2 after climbing back to 7-7

NFL SINGLE SEASON REORD 7 PICK 6’s

    24 INTs at home

    5,109 passing Yards

The inefficiency in our turnover margin directs back to Jameis. And for this reason, I hope we get a new QB and see what Arians and a loaded defense can do.

  92. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Jeffbuc, they neglected the defense AND failed to get a reliable kicker. That’s huge.

Get serious! Who turns down 27 million for one year?

He’s not getting tagged. He’s getting set free.

Why are you emotional abliut this? It’s a good thing let’s win some games by stop giving away the football like Halloween candy.

  94. Ndog Says:

Wow SteveK you can type numbers but you still have the problem of being such an idiot that don’t understand any of them. Just go to bed as the word context is lost on the CLUELESS.

  95. SteveK Says:

    Ndog,

I’m sorry you’re so salty. Will you be my valentine? ❤️

    Go Bucs!

Wake up and smell the turnovers.

  96. SteveK Says:

    Hey Ndog,

    More numbers fun for you:

    28-42 record + 5 years + 120 turnovers= Free Agency

I wish we could debate, but alas you will probably just hurl insults. It’s ok. I don’t take it personal, bc I know how much you want Jameis to be the QB. You want it more than winning ball games consistently, playoff contention, or even a super bowl.

    Good night,

    SteveK

  97. LaMarcus Says:

Jameis is a supreme talent. He can go anywhere and be good.

That’s why Arians must vouch for the defense because they were straight garbage and cost us a season. Plus that kicker we have too. Gay = Agauyo

  98. LaMarcus Says:

    And tmaxcon is right

Our favorite team has a worst record percentage than Jameis.

  99. Jeffbuc Says:

Buccaneer yeah that’s huge to neglect that for the team. But they did it to make jameis succeed and he still failed. How many QBs have been afforded so many luxuries and still fail. And get a second contract. Jameis can’t control the defense and the kicker but he can control the offense that was tailor made for success. And yet he still failed. You say the kicker the defense they didn’t make him throw 30 interceptions. You really thing when he is dropping back to pass he is thinking I have to make this throw or the defense will blow it. No if you ever played sports in the moment you don’t think about the past. If you are a shooter you dont think you missed the last 5 shots you just shoot it. That’s way overplayed in the nfl when announcers and fans say he was thinking about something in the past. He has 2.5 -3.5 seconds to throw it the only thing he is thinking about is where I throw the ball. There is no way in 2.5 he thinks I threw a pick in that coverage nope don’t go there look left nope he is biting three a pick to him already ok middle of the field haven’t thrown a lick there yet throw it there. I have played QBs and it is split second read and react nothing but that moment is in your mind. To think he is thinking of the defense or kicker as he is throwing is asinine. The bucs Gave him all the weapons to outscore the other team despite are defense. But he single handily gave the opposing team ten points a game. And some games more. The defense and kicking has nothing to do with his stats. His stats are his in the moment where he thinks he should throw it in that moment decision.so stop the defense the kicker he knows he has to score because the defense will give up points. No human being can think of all that in 2.5 seconds. The great ones just pre read a defense and no where they are going with the ball but if that is covered they know where there check down is and immediately go there. If jameis read is covered he panicked and gets happy feet and ad libs then he gets in trouble. I don’t think that can be coached out he is a qb who in the moment t panics.

  100. Sport Says:

Does anyone remember the extra effort from the team when Fitzmagic was slinging the rock? I saw a new level/gear from our team. It was fun.

I don’t see that same energy when JW is on the field.

    Not sure that’s fixable.

    In BA I Trust!

  101. JimmyJack Says:

Sport I really hate to burst your bubble but that game in Chicago last year was some of the most pathetic effort I can recall. It was actually disturbing.

We all got our own opinions but if you ask me the Monday Night national home game embarrassment was our turning point(in the wrong direction) last year. It really bothers me that we let our season go to crap only a few games in.

Looking back it seems that Dirk led teams had no heart or guts to handle any adversity. When the going got tough they folded……..Just like in 2016 when Ezekiel Elliot and the Cowboys embarrassed us and rubbed it in……We could have gotten up and still fought for a playoff spot the next week but instead proceeded to pull off a basic no-show and allowed a bad Saints team to kick the c ap out of us while we showed little energy or urgency.

Bruces team has a much different attitude and they don’t seem like the type that will ever back down………Well, except maybe OJ Howard. That stiff gotta toughen up or git. Cause right now he don’t fit.

  103. Issac haggins Says:

What does Licht do Again ?
What is Licht IN CHARGE OF ?

  104. Stanglassman Says:

    Winston’s 5 year tenure:

    Yards per carry – 30th (3.9)
    Rushing yards per game – 24th (103.4)
    First down % on rushes – 31st (19.9%)
    Rushing TDs – 25th
    Points Allowed – 31st (2081, only Miami – 2089 – is worse)
    Opposer Passer Rating – 31st (97.0, only Detroit – 98.6 – is worse)
    Scrimmage Yards Allowed – 25th (377.2/game)

Are these the luxuries in which you speak?

  107. Defense Rules Says:

@Ndog … “Bottom line if you want Jameis here or not I don’t see how he ever plays for this coach or team again. There is zero reason for them to treat and talk about him the way they are. ”

Aw come on Ndog, the NFL is a BUSINESS and the players are BUSINESSMEN. When Jameis (agent?) declared that he wants north of $30 mil per year, followed by Jameis declaring that ‘He be ballin’ after being the FIRST 30-30 QB in NFL history, that pretty much set the stage for what was to come. Bucs obviously have options in these negotiations (tagging, etc) and so does Jameis. Right now it’s just one big dance.

  108. Tvan101 Says:

The last time Arians got a qb from Cincinnati it worked out pretty well, just saying.
