  1. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Hope the Glazers see this poll

  2. WyomingBucsFan Says:

    No! I want Tom Brady…

  3. LaMarcus Says:

Yes. Yes. Yes. Of course. If Glazers see this poll. We are here in Vegas and would love to see JW back in Tampa

  4. D-Rome Says:

    No.

  5. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete Says:

Not if we can get Bridgewater or Brady!!!

  6. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Good Lord, people. There is absolutely no way Brady goes anywhere but New England.

    And Bridgewater is a one-year-wonder.

  7. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Correction, Bridgewater is a half-year-wonder.

  8. SteveK Says:

    No thanks!

    Start anew!

  9. SmittyToiletBowles Says:

    BoZo is still Bonzai.
    Good chance Brady plays elsewhere.
And cmon people how can you still be “not sure” if you want Winston. Been 5 years. Take it or leave it

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

“Not Sure!”- It depends on the alternative.

  11. Matthew Fifer Says:

I feel like this poll doesn’t ask the right question.

Would I take another year of Jameis if it was on a team friendly deal and it was mostly to give a draft pick a year to sit and learn? Yes, I’d do that.

Would I take another year (years) of Jameis if it was going to cost us $25M or more a year and meant we could not keep the important parts of this defense together? I’d rather have my vasectomy reversed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

The Play Off’s begin this weekend…I’ll be comparing EVERY QB playing until the SB winner……to what I have seen with Jameis

  13. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

BuccaneerBonzai…and Winston is a 5 year “wonder which team he’ll throw it to?”

  14. Bucsince94 Says:

Gluttons for punishment. Any other fanbase would launch this dude to outer space.

  15. D-Rome Says:

The only way Brady comes to Tampa is if he is taking his family to Busch Gardens. I have it on good authority (Uncle Carmine in the North End) that Belichick would sooner part ways with the Patriots than Brady. There is no way Robert Kraft lets Brady go anywhere.

  16. D-Rome Says:

Gluttons for punishment. Any other fanbase would launch this dude to outer space.

Jameis’s stats after five years are marginally better than Blake Bortles after five years and Jameis has had superior targets. No one is crying a river over Blake Bortles up in Jacksonville. Would this even be a debate if Jameis went to college at Virginia Tech?

  17. Blue-footed booby Says:

I of course, voted the ‘No’ option. Would much rather have Mike Glennon for $5 million than Winston for $20+ million and use that extra cap space to retain our other free agents + extend Godwin. And if there’s a quarterback in the mid rounds of the NFL draft that Arians likes (perhaps Jake Fromm or Jordan Love if they’re still on the board then) then we can draft the QB and have him be the 3rd string backup while having Gabbert being the 2nd string QB and teach him the system.

This way no pressure on the rookie to play year 1, and still being competitive with Mike Glennon at the helm in the present.

  18. Eric Says:

No way on Brady or Bridgewater. Neither guy makes it through a season with our oline.

Now one outside possibility. Big Ben has run Arians offense to a championship before. He would thrive with our receivers. If his arm were to heal could Bruce make a move for him? Perhaps the best deep ball thrower in the league.

    Unlikely but food for thought.

  19. Lavonte 1of1 Says:

About as polarizing as you can get especially when 30 votes separate keep him to not sure

    keep him 169-30=139
    not sure 106+30=136
    no vote = 149

    almost a 3 way split

  20. VegasBuc Says:

Being A Bucs Fan In Las Vegas… we WANT JAMEIS 2020!

  21. Matthew Fifer Says:

    @Blue-footed Booby

I’d be on board with Fromm personally. A lot of people are down on him because his arm strength but that can be improved with a good strength & conditioning program. That said, it’s not a lock that he even declares. A lot of recent chatter is that he may stick around another year.

  22. ClodHopper Says:

    NOPE!!

  23. TexBuc Says:

Guessing more understand football than some think.

I still believe Winston is the best fit for this offense, but would like to see another RB drafted and be more 50/50 ran pass ratio.

  24. 813bucboi Says:

    yeah bring him back…..i say 4years 100mil 2year 50mil guaranteed….

not a JW apologist but this was the first year in the system…..

    when JW is on, he’s a top10 QB in the league…..when JW is off, he’s a bottom 5 QB…..

the coaches give me hope that they can get him to play average on his worst day and elite on his best day…..

    its really all about consistency…..

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  25. Jerry Says:

5 years later with marginal improvement, maybe year 6 will be different?

D-Rome is spot on though, his numbers compare with Bleak Bortles (see what I did there?) and if he wasn’t a FSU boy he’d have been kicked to the curb and not have the organization and media dangle “if he stops turning the ball over” hypotheticals

  26. SteveK Says:

    TexBuc,

Wake up and smell the turnovers. No playoffs in five years. What’s there to understand? We lose bc we don’t take care of the ball, and in doing so we put up points. Our QB averages 30 ppg on offense and 8ppg for the opposing defense.

It’s a cruel joke to sell playoff potential of this team with the rash of turnovers.

  27. SteveK Says:

Spend the salary cap $ on the front 7. Keep the D!

Shaq and JPP earner their payday more than the QB.

  28. Deez days Says:

Anyone who voted yes it’s your opinion but you are the dumbest fans in the NFL and the Bucs alone … majority of his numbers are garbage numbers because we are behind in games and when we get back in the game he loses it for the Bucs … he’s the most overrated quarterback I have ever seen … and I’m pretty sure you secret fans were the first ones to say he is just another jamarcus Russell you band wagon fans

  29. TexBuc Says:

Many QB’s melt under a pass rush when I watch Winston I see no fear. I see him operate within the dirty pocket with bodies, legs, and arms all around him in contrast to some other QB’s. I don’t want a scared QB you cannot coach fear out of someone, but you can calm an aggressive QB. My opinion is Winston is immature and will calm down as he ages. I refuse to give up on a QB who just turned 26 yrs the other day. When drafting you are projecting what a player can become.

  30. TexBuc Says:

The Bucs are the only team I have ever rooted for going back to the early 80’s, and I have seen QB change after QB change with minimal results. I know some see some young stud QBs coming out lately, but not every player will develop at the same rate or asked to play a certain style of offense which does affect play. We will not find another Mahomes in the draft for quite a while he is a generational talent.

  31. DislocatedBucsFan Says:

    F no

  32. Matthew Fifer Says:

    @813Bucboi

I hate the excuse “it was his first year in the system”, that’s such a pathetic line to explain his terrible play. A good QB can get a new coach/new system and not struggle because they are just that good at what they do that it doesn’t matter.

Look at what Rodgers did this year with a brand new coach and system. They were not a top team in nearly any category, but Rodgers knows how to win and protect the ball. He threw only 4 picks all year.

Using the excuse of “first year in the system”, he should have thrown many more, but he didn’t. You know why? Because he’s good, Winston….isn’t.

  33. ATrain Says:

Oh my what has Winston brought to the Bucs

    5000 yard Year

    Stats for Him

    Not consistent
    Cannot throw Spiral
Has not made progress in 5 year except a few less turnovers
    Can’t read Defenses

And is a complete A$$ to fans

Thank you Evans, The Defense Godwin for atleast talking with Fans at the Jags Game

Hudson Thanks for making my girls first game special

Winston was able to throw up a hand as he ran by.

    CANNOT WIN WITH WINSTON
JUST LIKE DEFENSE NEVER GOT BETTER WITH GMC

ALTHOUGH YALL MADE EXCUSES FOR HIM

  34. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Sorry but the dude really was balling before the final two games. Analysts were all saying you can’t let him go he’s too good. Then he breaks his throwing hand and loses his two pro bowl receivers and fans judge him on those two games.

The man has never thrown so many picks (and hopefully never will again).
He also has never thrown for as many yards, TDs, first downs, completions, attempts, yards per attempt, yards per completion, and TD %.
    How is that not progress?

You all have been SPOILED by Jameis and this offense. Do you not remember when we couldn’t move the ball at all? Jameis is elite in that category and that’s with NO running game!!!

Hopefully we can sign him up for under 30 M so we can continue to build a solid TEAM. Draft trenches!
    Go BUCS!!!

  35. SteveK Says:

    Alaska,

The four game winning streak was awesome so was his performance st Seattle in a loss.

However, how did we get to 2-6 and talking draft!

    London was an embarrassment.

And as soon as the season came back to 7-7: he shat the bed at home (all year) in the last two games to try and finish a winner.

  36. Craig Says:

Give him a gold watch and a handshake before security leads him out the door. He has not improved and has shown every season that he isn’t prepared for the season ahead. His season start stats are atrocious.

Then he falls apart all over again a couple of times a season. There were six games this season that he was directly responsible for the Bucs losing, and this was the year he was auditioning to be the 100 million dollar man.

  37. Christopher Schiefen Says:

HE. LOSES. GAMES. As if 5 years didn’t show that, he had a chance to lock down the job and he threw away the last 2 games at the end. Do you guys just love losing?

  38. Robert Says:

i was busy and accidentally hit yes. dadgumit

    someone vote no for me!!

  39. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Stevek I agree man, London was an embarrassment, but let’s not act like we don’t know what embarrassment is as Buc fans. Remember Lovie? Schisms? The blow outs? We had none of those this year.

Those last two games I didn’t really think our chances were great anyways. Texans are a playoff team and Atlanta was red hot. Jameis is in a hard cast now which shows just how jacked up that hand really was but Jameis doesn’t make excuses ever.

The fact that we could have won either of those last two games is a testament to the defense and the progress it has made but they still gave up the booty when it counted and the offense wasn’t potent enough.

  40. TexBuc Says:

    Good points Alaskan

  41. Wesley Says:

Only if we wanna keep losing.

  42. Robert Says:

he’s too stupid to even play football. forrest gump makes him look smart.

there’s a reason they got Bubba as his OC

  43. Bucsince94 Says:

    D-rome

Blake Bortles had nothing close to the receivers winston has to throw to.

Why do fans aspire to be okay with mediocrity at best? You used JACKSONVILLE in your defense of putting up with Winston? Can we not want to be better than the jags? Theyve never done ANYTHING

Dude, if given the amount of reps Jameis has received, and the quality of skill positions on the outside,,,,,,,

EVEN I COULD CLOSE MY EYES AND HUCK UP PASSES and i bet i wouldnt be much worse than 30 picks.

Dude has arm talent. He is not a CEREBRAL quarterback at ALL. END OF STORY. But he be “ballin” to lopsided loss columns

  44. Wesley Says:

    @alaskan
His injury didn’t cause interceptions. Think about it, he was able to still throw for a ridiculous number of yards. The guy could still throw the ball the problem was all the interceptions.

  45. Bucsince94 Says:

Alaskan, id be willing to bet we probably would have split the last 2 if RG4 was in

  46. D1 Says:

    Tex,

    I hope you’re correct.
But after 5yrs as a NFL starter, He’s still the same player as He was in college.
If Mahomes was the same player as He was in college, no one would be saying He’s a generational talent.

The problem with waiting for Winston to magically make the monumental transformation from average to elite is the salary cap. Today’s NFL is structured so that if a team misfires on a QB, it doesn’t penalize the team from moving on after 4yrs.

A fair assessment of the QB’S who entered the league after Winston, clearly indicates that the opportunity to find a franchise QB is possible. So to is the frequency as multiple teams have drafted their franchise QB. QB’S are better prepared to transition into the league as they ever have been. Ultimately, this means that the irrational fear of finding a replacement is just that, irrational.

If the Bucs resign winston they’re going against the house , so to speak. The team is incurring undue financial risk in the hopes that this gamble hits big. In the meantime, the cost for this position dramatically increases which means the reward is lowered by an amount equal to or greater than the additional cost.

The question is , if winston can transform into an elite player, and what are the odds of him doing so after 5yrs of starting. I have to believe everyone can see the ceiling is high . Top 10 high. The fan split is not about this but rather his likelyhood to do so. A portion of fans look towards the future and the opportunity that brings. The other side, looks backwards and concludes, what was , will be.

At this point, only the future can answer the question. Which means, as of today, no one is right or wrong. As long time abused fans , we all willingly have remained in a toxic relationship with this team. Thus we all should try to be less d@ckesh to someone who may hold a different opinion.

  47. DBS Says:

    No.

  48. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Jameis is all out of NFL strikes…how do you factor that ?

  49. Bucsince94 Says:

To anyone in a high ranking position with the bucs org that may read this thread,

Re-signing or tagging Winston will lose fans.
    Letting him walk will not

  50. Bucsince94 Says:

D-rome. My apologies. I mistook your meaning i think

  51. TexBuc Says:

    D1

Texas Tech record was average thus Mahomes did not get national coverage. In my opinion his accuracy and arm strength are fantastic. My point is Winston is immature and has been since he first burst onto the national spotlight in college. My best friend was not the same at age 28 as he was at age 24. Winston will calm down with maturity that only comes with age and we have a potential starter for the next 15 years.

  52. Bucsfanman Says:

D1-You nailed it dude! “Toxic relationship!” Poetically stated !

  53. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Bucsince 94, we’ve been losing fans every year and not because of Jameis. It’s a condition called losing and WINNING will heal this ailment.
I bet Jameis has also brought in thousands of young Bucs fans through his dream forever foundation. He impacts the lives of tens of thousands of youth who will always look up to him in admiration and be lifelong fans.
So if we lose some old simple minded bigots than so be it. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!!

  54. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    D1 that was well said.

I don’t know what the best decision is for this franchise and like I said last night IDGAD who the QB is, let’s just win. I will trust and support whatever they decide to do but if I feel like we majorly downgraded ala Dalton, Flacco, or Rosen, I will most likely lose my ish unless we start winning.

  55. common sense Says:

Jameis Winston’s stats are marginally better than Blake Bortles??????????….. WTF……What idiot walks around thinking this?

Replace this dumb narrative with Peyton Mannings stats from his first 5 years are marginally better/worse than Jameis Winston.

What Idiotic fan-base would want to get rid of possibly the next Peyton Manning?

  56. Ship Thief Says:

    D1

I am looking toward the future and the opportunities that will come with it, with or without Jameis.

But I am so tired of the turnovers.

I personally would vote to move on from Jameis, but I will totally get behind whatever BA thinks is the best route to take.

  57. stpetebucsfan Says:

    D1

Excellent post. You are spot on. Perception is our reality. As you can see from the survey virtually a 50-50 split. Half of us perceive the 5000 yards and 30TD’s…half perceive all the hassle and the ints and five years later what?
But as someone who has earned his share of names…”clueless” “weak minded” “old fool”…that last one is certainly at minimum half right…I’m old alright…you have nailed it!

“At this point, only the future can answer the question. Which means, as of today, no one is right or wrong. As long time abused fans , we all willingly have remained in a toxic relationship with this team. Thus we all should try to be less d@ckesh to someone who may hold a different opinion.”

    AMEN BROTHER

  58. D1 Says:

    Texbucs,

Mahomes, definitely, has out of this world arm talent , not a question.
Playing at Tech and the system they ran , imo, probably made some scouts cautious about how to evaluate his talent independent of the scheme. But that’s history now as more teams are adding elements of the college game into their schemes.

Re; Winston and maturing. If I don’t understand you’re point, please correct me. You’re perspective is as winston matures as a man, that personal growth will be reflected in his play. If this is accurate, Interesting idea that I hadn’t considered.

Intially, I thought about it from the player point of view. In this light, I believe we share some common ground.

    ——
    Bucsfanman & Alaskan

    Thank you.

I just think it’s worth mentioning on occasion that sports and being a fan of a team should Unite us more than divide us. In today’s society, if sports can’t bridge the divide that separates us into groups , nothing will.

  59. JimmyJack Says:

Yes bring him back. For years we have heard Winston needs a defense to win. There has been merit to that. Well now we got a defense. I wanna see what Winston can do. Especially since we can focus some of this off-season upgrading the run game.

And it is a big deal that last year was a new offense. We can reasonably expect the most stales to go down.

All that said if Bruce decides we need a new QB for his offense I’ll support that decision & expect big things.

  60. EEK Says:

We as fans deserve better than Winston

Sunk cost — 5 years of investment doesn’t justify more investment even if we have seen flashes of brilliance mixed in with average and terrible

Time to start fresh in my opinion. Probability will support moving on when the sample size of experience is so large (5 years and > 50 games)

  61. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @SteveK

Don’t know if I should say this…I have enough hate here already…but I agree with you.

This thread is not really about JW’s pros and cons or rehashing the debate about should we keep him or not.

IMO it’s about the OPINION of the Buc’s fan base with this group being the most intense fans. In my totally unscientific personal survey…I asked a guy at the gym today who has NFL ticket…a real fan..keep JW or not…NOT. Sports fans relatives and friends I surveyed over the holidays were nowhere near 50-50…virtually NO support for JW.

IMHO 50-50 is the BEST JW will poll with fans…outside the JBF confines I believe it’s even worse.

  62. Tbbucs3 Says:

If this is Madden……yes I want Brady

But it’s not, so I want Winston and a defense.

  63. Buc believer Says:

    HELL YES

  64. Buccernutter Says:

Guaranteed if this ended with a game winning drive, it would be a blowout yes vote. Just like it was amongst his 2 450 yards games.

You guys seriously don’t think for yourselves and weigh turnovers too heavily but make excuses for 5k yards and 33 TDs.

  65. ben Says:

Winston will never be anything great ! move on

  66. Tye Says:

    might as well ask…

    simple pole:
Do you want to keep losing?
    [] Yes, keep Jameis
[] No, bring in a winning qb!

  67. BrianBucs Says:

I’m very surprised that the voting is this close.
In my work, I’m out talking to lots of people, all day every, most of them Bucs fans. And I guarantee you at least 80 % of them want Winston gone, out of here. That seems to be the general consensus.
NDOG must be voting under all of his different screen names.

  68. Tackleblockwin Says:

I’m one of the “I don’t know” votes. Surprise, surprise.

#1 thing I like about Winston QB play

    His confidence and short memory.

#1 thing I dislike about Winston QB play.

    His confidence and short memory.

  69. Doug Says:

    No way!

  70. gambelero Says:

Why can’t i see the poll or any way to get to it?

  71. Jameishas2go Says:

This question depends on Jameis. If I was him, I would show due deference to the team, saying you guys have had my back. I have not reached my potential and I want to keep the team in tact, especially on defense. I will accept 1 year prove it deal because I believe I am a ” Baller” and I will be the QB I think I am and then I will get my money on the new CBA.

However I don’t think that will happen. He will ask for 32-35 million the Bucs will franchise him to hold his rights and if nothing else materialized they will force him on to the franchise deal. If they can bring in another QB, then they pull the franchise tender, or trade him if they can.

  72. Jf Says:

Lol some of the jameis latchers on better hit refresh daster

  73. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Good point Jameishas2go, let’s not forget JW is one misdeed away from a year long suspension. That has to factor into the negotiations. He had a defiant and cocky attitude in his last post game press conference. If Patriots and Saints are willing to walk away from 2 of the greatest QBs of all time, Bucs should have no problem letting JW walk.

  74. TexBuc Says:

Tom Brady and Drew Brees are in their 40’s and in the twilight of their careers. I’m sure Chargers fans have for years admired Brees work from afar after their team just let him walk. I believe Dolphins fans are realizing Ryan Tannehill was not the problem after all. Winston is IMMATURE and that causes his bad decisions (INT) and we should not let him walk when age solves that issue.

  75. SteveK Says:

    St Pete.

Same here! I believe there are some genuine believers, but I am not. I just want to win. Tired of the turnovers and losing, and then the yards and points argument becomes tiring.

    D1,

Great post. I chuckled when our season ended. It felt like a story about comedy and the curious case or Jameis Winston. Turnovers won out in the end. In record setting fashion.

  76. Jameishas2go Says:

In addition, if Jameis wants to play hard ball, then he could refuse to sign the Franchise tag, if he does, the BUCS should hold his rights to the last QB spot is filled in Free Agency and then once the draft is done and then drop the Franchise so he has to sign with a team as a back up.

This is only if Jameis wants to play hard ball. And we get a QB in Free Agency or the draft that the front office and Arians want.

  77. donuts Says:

No, free agency can bring better options.

  78. Bucs 14 Says:

He is exciting. He is entertaining. But we will never make the promised land of the Lombardy Trophy with the 30-30 Baller turning the ball over like he did this season.

  79. MadMax Says:

pretty much tied but 349 unsure….sorry but i count those as no….so, no votes are ahead by 350 😀

  80. Tbbucs3 Says:

In terms of the 2020 season alone, you ABSOLUTELY have to keep Winston as it appears the Bucs are in win now mode with a defense that has appears to have gotten better during the LATE end of the season and given Winstons production, you have to see how he looks in year 2 with BA.

Also a weak free agent QB class and no rookies (at pick 14) that would be able to perform in BAs offense year 1.

Now, in terms of a long term option at QB, that’s where the question should be more 50/50. To that id say give Winston 1 more year and then make your final say.

But for whatever reason, many fans don’t like Winston for reasons that go way beyond him as a football player and given his production any reasonable football person would give him at least another year.

Keep in mind that Jameis has NEVER played a year in the NFL with a defense that was good for the full season and as long as he can keep his INTs under 20, he can be special.

  81. SteveK Says:

Lots of options in draft and FA! This is a buyer’s market for QBs this year. Don’t be mistaken. One of Brees, Brady, Bridgewater, or Rivers will shake free. In addition there are several draftable prospects: Tua, Burrow, Herbert, Eason, Love, or Fromm.

The draft and FA will be flooded this year with Bad QBs.

The Vikings don’t regret signing Kirk Cousins in FA.

  82. SteveK Says:

    Tbbucs3,

With all due respect Winston has 39 turnovers in 2019, 30 of the INT variety. You mention cutting down the mistakes to 20. You think they will be halved? I say it’s more likely the book is out and defenses will continue to feast on Jameis passes while dashing our playoff hopes early. And we will talking draft by Halloween, again. Can’t repeat the definition of insanity.

  83. Tbbucs3 Says:

    SteveK

I mentioned cutting Winstons interceptions alone to under 20 which I think is absolutely attainable. 1st year in a Bruce Arians style offense is always tough for a QB, 2d year is usually a breakout year. And if Winston can’t get it done in year 2, then it’s time to cut bait.

  84. JimmyJack Says:

SteveK don’t forget. There is a track record of QBs cutting their turnovers in this offense. I think it’s defientally reasonable to think Winston can cut them turnovers just like other QBs did.

Winston still will probably throw INTs at a higher rate then average. But I could defientally see him play like Andrew Luck did in this offense…….Where he threw a decent amount of picks but made more then enough plays to nab victories………Hope we keep Winston and we look like we ready to make a playoff run next year……..And to me there will only be one question. How will Winston respond in a playoff game? Or in a ‘win to get in’ game…….While y’all obsess over each and every pick my son up obsession will be how Jameis respond to a meangiful game.

  85. SteveK Says:

It’s just hard to envision a sixth year and no playoffs. It would mean the end for Winston and Licht.

I firmly believe the team will be better if we can resign: JPP, Shaq, Suh and Nassib. Keep building the D. The d played great, good enough to be in the playoffs.

Jimmy Jack- I viewed the two home games to end the season as our layoffs. Could Jameis beat the Texans- four picks. Could he beat the Falcons- two picks- no pints scored in the second half- pick six to end the season.

Without having the benefit of a playoff game to determine which Jameis will show up, I am confident that he’s played poorly to start the year, rebounded, and went belly up the last two weeks.

If we were to bring him back and the D, Kicker and everything got better and he did not, then it would be a crime. Five years is enough.

  86. Dexfields22@gmail.com Says:

Classic…when you need people to comment on your site just throw up Jameis Winston name.

  87. Tbbucs3 Says:

    SteveK

“The D played great, good enough to be in the playoffs”

Not true, check the scores to the 1st half of the season. By the time the defense starting playing great the Bucs were pretty much already out of playoff contention.

  88. Tbbucs3 Says:

I can name at least 8 games this season where the Bucs defense was not good.

  89. JimmyJack Says:

SteveK I hear ya. I was bitterly upset about them last 2 losses too. Leaving that stadium after the Falcons game was a very solemn experience. Could almost feel the broken heart of the crowd.

So yeah it felt like a win mattered. Sorta like a playoff game……but nothing can meet mic the actual intensity of the real thing.

I do want Winston back but I’m willing to accept whatever this coach decides. If he decides to pay Winston that basically means he is telling ownership don’t to worry about last year’s stats. He’s telling them he’s got it figured out and that Winston will be fine……..Kinda remind nds me of Gruden……back when we couldn’t beat Philly and lost to them again in 2002……Sapp later told that when they were on the flight back to Philly(pissed off) Gruden came up to Warren and told him he saw how Philly beat us. He had it figured out and that team wasn’t gonna be a problem no more…….There was a confidence with that coach & I’m just as confident in this coach……If he gonna tell ownership he’s got it figured and Winston is his guy I got all the confidence it’ll work…….and vise versa if he tells them otherwise.

  90. Troy Says:

Winston isn’t worth 15% of our cap. I’ll take my chances on another QB, even a rookie with a re-signing of our defensive players.

  91. JimmyJack Says:

And I won’t be surprised if the Bucs don’t draft a QB at all.

People keep thinking we getting somebody to groom in the top half of draft. We might. But they fittin to try and make a serious run. They might want every single pick they got to try and draft players who can make a real impact………..Taking a QB they don’t intend on playing might not be in the cards……In fact I hope it’s not. Hope they put everything they got into next year and getting this team to respectability.

  92. Rodney Munch Says:

40% of the readers here are morons. LOL!

Although, in fairness, based off the slobs in the comments you’d have expected it to be 90% of readers demanding Winston be lynched.

  93. JimmyJack Says:

So why was my post moderaitated? Was the trigger word Gruden?

  94. Donuts Says:

I don’t and will never understand the use of race bait words like lynch when talking about sports. It says a lot about the commenter.

  95. JimmyJack Says:

    Or was it Warren Sapp?

  96. JimmyJack Says:

Really Joe we can’t talk about a Bucs legend without being moderated? Sucks I guess there too many crap posters who just can’t help themselfs and ruin it for the rest of us.

  97. lewis Says:

Jw has no right to play here again

  98. stpetebucsfan Says:

Russell Wilson in the 3rd round…Gardner Minshew in the SIXTH.

There are QB’s to be had. I’m over putting our entire poke on a top ten pick again. How’s that worked out for us or Tennessee?

Speaking of Tennessee how did a retread work for them this year?

  99. Buczilla Says:

Wow, this poll is close! I figured it would be more like 60-40 in favor of Jameis staying.

  100. Troy Says:

Comical how Bridgewater is claimed to be a half-year wonder, but yet half the people on here refuse to admit that Winston is a no-year wonder. Hasn’t played worth a crap in 5 years, but we should give him 15% of our cap.

  101. Rodney Munch Says:

I heard from top personnel deep, very very deep, inside OneBucPlace who say the Bucs have talked Andrew Luck into unretiring and being the QB for the Tampa Bay Vipers to help kickstart the XFL for his dad – and to help sell Wrestlemania tickets.

  102. Rodney Munch Says:

You really have morons talking about Teddy Bridgewater? LOL! Take away his 300+ yard game against the Bucs, and his 4 TDs, and it basically halfs all of his production for that 5-game strech he played.

Wow, you have to be a real dope who knows nothing about football to get excited about a game manager (at best) QB who will play 6 games a year before getting hurt.

  103. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Stpete

In terms of late round QB for devolopment, fine. But your willing to dump Winston and give the keys to an unknown late round rookie QB? HUGE risk.

  104. JimmyJack Says:

StPete you gravely dissapointment me. I know that you know draft odds better then that. You know darn well there aren’t many Wilson’s or Brady’s sitting around often at all in late rounds.

The chances of finding one that late can best be summed up by sheer luck.

I mean if it was even somewhat easy each team would have a stud and another stud as a backup waiting in the wings. It also would of took the Bucs about 50 years and counting and still never found a QB.

Other posters I expect……But not you St Pete. Not you!!!! Maybe that guy right right after all. Maybe you are cleuless after all………..hahaha, kidding. I could not help self.

  105. Pa Privateer Says:

Yes the turnovers are an issue for me, but that isn’t the only thing.

MY biggest issue with Winston is his accuracy. I don’t see him consistently throwing the ball to WRs in stride. I constantly see WRs having to adjust their bodies in their route just to catch the dang ball. Way too many 50/50 balls. WRs waiting for the ball after getting separation, etc.

Quite a bit of his passing yards were in garbage time as well.

Imagine if we had a highly accurate QB with these receivers?

  106. JimmyJack Says:

Rodney I tryed to fight the Bridgewater crowd for a minute. But I had to give up. That mob is too strong.

Turned on the radio today. They was talking about Teddy. Then I clicked on a podcast. More Teddy. Now I come here and read some comments…..Teddy, Teddy Teddy.

Even the ESPN Teddy tracker has Tampa Bay as a top landing choice. The Teddy hype has gained far too much momentum and is much too powerful to stop now. I suggest you let it go for your own sanity. Or pull out some hair like I did.

  107. Buc1987 Says:

    No.

    Nuff said.

    87 out!

  108. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

87 you can’t give up, you did this!

  109. gilhealy Says:

This poll on an actual Bucs fan site would have much different results. This site is the outlier. The majority of Buc supporters want Jameis as the QB.

  110. SteveK Says:

    Gil,

I don’t believe you. Been a lifelong Bucs fan, and JBF is the best. Buccaneers official website just likes take things look pretty without telling the truth. Other Bucs sites are second and third fiddle to Joe too.

IMHO, the realest of the Buc fans come here.

  111. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

    That’s not the original 87.

  112. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

As Chris Simms said about Winston (and don’t shoot the messenger, it was posted here on JBF)……”STUPID”

  113. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

Ouch. May be time to change the macro for America’s Quarterback… he’s not even Tampa’s Quarterback.

  114. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

I go back and forth between move on and franchise him

Maybe franchise him, and if he doesn’t sign it go talk to other QBs and if you can get a Dalton or Rivers or Bridgewater you yank the tag if he doesn’t sign it right away.

He’s just not a QB who has shown in his 70 starts that you can win with him. No matter how good or bad the other parts of the team are playing you can’t win with this guy consistently

  115. D-Rome Says:

D-rome. My apologies. I mistook your meaning i think

Haha, you did. No worries. My overall point is that Bortles put up “good numbers” if you look at his yards and TDs, especially in 2015. However, Bortles not only did not pass the eye test of being a good QB but all of the advanced metrics out there proved he wasn’t a good QB.

The advanced metrics tell the same exact story for Jameis.

  116. SteveK Says:

If Jameis was resigned and the turnovers, no playoffs persisted: then what? What’s the argument to keep this guy?

I’d take a QB with 75% of the output and 25% of the turnovers.

Playoff QBs in 2019 averaged 7 INTs. Winston had 30. That’s more than 400% the average.

Running the ball and defense are great! They mean nothing of the QB continues to hand out freebies!

  117. Pa Privateer Says:

Wow, Poll switched overnight. Now it is

    No 44.12

    yes 39.18

    unsure 16.69

If that is true for all of Bucs Fans, Then you can be sure the Glazers will move on from Winston.

    Glazers need BUTTS-IN-THE-SEATS

  118. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Bucs fans are at over 44%

FSU fans are at 39% and falling

  119. JWDS INFECTED BUCS FAN Says:

YES, we made sure to stuff the ballot box on this poll and prove that while every other big poll (Auman, TB Times, JP Peterson, etc) shows about 60-75% of Bucs fans want Jameis back in 2020, we proved that JoeBucsFan is where the Jameis-haters thrive and rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  120. Tye Says:

Still a hour to go but Bucs fans have shown up to vote..

talking to many who claim to be Bucs fans, I’ve not come across that many for Jameis..
surprised by the number of Jameis fans voted…
I prefer a winning team but it takes all kinds!

  121. SteveK Says:

    JWDS,

Joe has a great website and is all about truth. You can knock the results of this poll, but the fact gremlins that the fans are spilt. I wonder how many more FSU alums read the online newspaper, and this vote on those polls?

Joe keeps it real and I love it. I wish we won more games and had a great QB, but we don’t. We have a big question to answer this off-season.

  122. Tye Says:

    @ gilhealy

a week or so ago another site ran a poll and the results there were ‘let him walk’.
Don’t just bash Joe’s site because you are hurt everyone doesn’t share your delusions..

Many here are Bucs fans and are for the best of the team NOT Jameis Fans who would rather lose with him than to win without him!..

  123. SteveK Says:

    Well said, Tye.

  124. NYbucsfan Says:

I’m surprised so many people want to keep him. His third leading touchdown receiver was the other team, that is not a great stat. Forty-nine points off pick six’s!

  125. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Tye. I’m for the team as well and that’s a reason I want to keep Jameis. So what is your point? Go Bucs!

  126. SteveK Says:

What has Jameis done for the team?

Got suspended, no playoffs and just loses more than he wins.
