Three Bucs Named To Pro Bowl

December 18th, 2019

UPDATED: 5:45 a.m. – Three of the best Bucs have been honored by their peers.

Shaq Barrett, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin were announced as part of the 2020 NFC Pro Bowl team earlier this evening.

For outside linebacker Barrett and wide receiver Godwin, the honor is the first of their careers. For Evans, the star receiver was selected to his third Pro Bowl.

Left out in the rain (once again) was linebacker Lavonte David.

And it appears no Buccaneers were named as Pro Bowl alternates, per Joe’s research this morning. For example, Matthew Stafford, Kyler Murray, Jimmy Garoppolo are NFC quarterback alternates, while Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson were named directly to the team.

David, Vita Vea, Matt Gay or Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, could be named alternates to the Pro Bowl roster at a later date, for example.

The initial Pro Bowl rosters are determined by a voting process that includes equal part fans, players and coaches.

This year’s Pro Bowl will be played Jan. 26 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be televised on BSPN.

Wow.. David gets snubbed every year. So underrated. Congrats to Mike, Chris, and Shaq.

  2. OBP Says:

I’ll be honest, Luke Kuechly didn’t deserve a nod this year. His solo tackles and TFL are WAAAAY down, Lavonte deserved a spot over him imo.

  3. Rod Munch Says:

David is the only player I’ve ever seen get snubbed by the idiots doing the Pro-Bowl yet make the ALL-PRO team, which is dramatically harder to do and a huge achievement. Pro-Bowl voting should go visit a Planned Parenthood.

  4. Jean Lafitte Says:

So GMC didn’t make the Pro Bowl as a Panther?

David gets no love, well maybe next season when the Bucs dominate.

  5. SteelStudBuc Says:

Maybe just maybe Jameis will be an interesting alternate… who throws the most interceptions in a pro bowl?

  6. BigHog Says:

SteelStudBuc….but when he leads his team to victory ..who will care?

  7. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

NFL.com listed Lavonte David as the second best ILB in the NFL, yet justified someone else making the Pro Bowl.

This is probably his best year of his career.

  8. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Our guys who made it deserved it…but the voters are idiots for never choosing Lavonte David.

  9. German Buc Says:

It’s a fun game – so why not letting the NFL-leader in pass yards tossing the ball around??

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

I think it’s a good list, personally. I would like to see David, but lets be honest, he’s a “GOOD” player. Objectively, should he really be on that list?
And in fairness, the Pro Bowl is more a popularity contest than anything. When you play on a bad defense on a bad football team, whether you’re trending up or not, you’re not going to get much love outside your city.

  11. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Pro bowler
    Pro bowler alternative

    Same thing right?

And everyone gets a participation trophy……

  12. BucEmUp Says:

Its a popular vote, bias as always

  13. AwShbucs Says:

    Steelstudbucs

Jameis’ balled out in his one pro bowl so far. Slung the rock all over the field and didnt throw a pick.

  14. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Joe

The Pro Bowl is a complete joke.

They should just change the titling and eliminate the game since they don’t really play anyways.

  15. SammyRebel Says:

You know the pro bowl is bias when Kyler Murray is a pro bowl alternate , smh this guy jaboo leads the league in passing yards top 2 in tds thrown how is that not pro bowl worthy? I don’t wanna hear about the interceptions, he is a pro bowler , put some respect on his name for once , we don’t win the last 4 games without Jameis

  16. NEWBUC Says:

Pro bowl is a Joke, means nothing.

  17. Colonel_mp Says:

David doesn’t even make the NFL’s Top 10 snub list. No respect.

  18. Colonel_mp Says:

Pro Bowls are significant if a player wants to wear a Gold Jacket one day. Who gets a Gold Jacket without going to the Pro Bowl?

  19. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Bucs fans should be more interested in the All-Pro teams as those are far more significant than this BS exhibition game that absolutely no one but ESPN cares about. Who actually watches this espn game with that lousy booooger and joe t calling another snooze fest; if it is an actual all star game maybe get some all star announcers instead of the worst MNF crew ever

  20. Buc4evr Says:

Pro bowl is just another opportunity to get injured and ruin a players career. Worthless. I don’t even watch it anymore.

  21. J Says:

LVD will be back for sure next year at least. Like to see an alternate nod but I like the fact he might have a chip on his shoulder for next season.

  22. Tnew Says:

    Pro bowl=popular.

    Give me All-Pros.

  23. Tnew Says:

Stafford?? By no measure should he be on that list.

  24. BucDan Says:

Here’s to hoping that they (and more!) decide to come to Orlando for the game. Always fun getting to see the players up close in that type of environment.

I’ll definitely be there for these guys!

  25. Sharthappens Says:

Ha. JW not even a replacement. That says it all

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Popular Bowl

  27. Tim Says:

Well deserved by all 3, LD will get his pro-bowl next year.
This D is going to need to play in the top 15 to get our LB’s pro-bowl love.

  28. orlbucfan Says:

LVD is just as good as Derrick Brooks. He has had the misfortune of playing for the Bucs through all the HC BS. He is already respected by educated fans and players. That said, congrats to ME13, Ungodly and Shaq B. They will all be back here next season.

  29. Jason S. Mclaurin Says:

I can’t believe Stafford is on the list that’s a league wide disrespect right there. WINSton will definitely be there if you ask me and I can see may be David coming in later as well.
