“The Plan” For Sunday

December 11th, 2019

What’s up his sleeve?

Joe knows Bucs fans have a plan for Sunday football when the Bucs are on the road.

They include, but are not limited to:

* Satellite/cable bill paid off by midnight the previous evening.

* Workout completed by 9 a.m.

* Honey-do chores done by 11 a.m.

* Beers chilled to an optimum temperature by noon.

* Wings/burgers/sausages off the grill by 12:30 p.m.

* Feet propped up by 12:50 p.m.

* Remote in hand by 12:52 p.m.

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians has a different sort of plan.

When the Bucs offense breaks from the huddle on Sunday in Detroit for the first time, it will be lead by Mr. Excitement, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

“That’s the plan,” Arians said this afternoon. “We’ll see how it goes.”

Of course, Jameis has a fracture 0f his throwing thumb — Arians called it minor. It happened in the second quarter of the Bucs’ win over the Colts. Jameis has been wearing a soft cast since.

He was seen wearing the brace/cast at the bowling function for Mike Evans’ foundation Monday night and Wednesday, while at his weekly press conference and preparing for practice in the Bucs’ locker room, Jameis wasn’t wearing any type of cast on his right hand.

A cast returned when Jameis took the practice field Wednesday afternoon.

Jameis said today the injury happened in the two-minute drive to end the first half.

“[I] threw a ball to O.J. [Howard] and kind of hit [Al-Quadin Muhammad], got underneath, and I threw it, and I hit his hand, and then when I tried to pull back I hit his helmet,” Jameis said. “About the third to last play.”

Jameis sat out the opening series to start the second half because he couldn’t grip a football and because he had X-rays. Of course, Jameis returned on the second series of the half and played lights out in the second half leading the Bucs to a come-from-behind win.

    RG4 will be starting on Sunday have the bucs signed a backup yet?

  2. Mort Says:

    If he played last week after the injury, I imagine he will play this week as well.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    The key is whether or not Chad Kanoff is activated from the PS…..and we won’t know that until the gameday active roster is formed…..If he’s not activated that means coaches are comfortable with Jameis (at least as a backup) on Sunday.

  4. Pewter power Says:

    He played the entire second half of the game, why are people debating whether he will play after a week of rest and rehab? Keep dreaming RG4 fans

  5. Allbuccedup Says:

    Matt Patricia is a joke the bucs will torch this team.

  6. Deez days Says:

    His thumb is perfectly fine … just excuse for his picks

  7. Buccfan37 Says:

    Did he have that thumb in a bowling ball to guide it? Should be healed enough to throw the football? Famous Jameis Magical Mystery Tour.

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

    One things for jam Skippy..There will be no dull moments with our cardiac Kid..Jameis. If you are susceptible to heart problems or panic attacks..The Bucs are Not..for you.

  9. TampaTown Says:

    Love your game plan Joe. Can’t believe the Bucs haven’t signed another QB just in case.

  10. Jeffbuc Says:

    I would love to see griffin get a chance to start. Just to see what a career backup caliber qb can do with this offense. I think that would be more beneficial for determining if we should keep jameis or not. Because griffin with his age and knowledge should be as good as any rookie we could draft. But of course with less upside but he should be on the same level for there rookie season. So we would know after Sunday if the grass is greener or if we should roll with jameis one more year.

  11. Clean House Says:

    They should sit him the rest of the year and have the balls to make a decision.
    No point in hurting his throwing hand long term.

  12. Clean House Says:

    Although it would be fun to see him lead the NFL in passing and get a big contract.

  13. Clean House Says:

    In spite of the haters

  14. Clean House Says:

    This guys kinda like babe Ruth-
    Had the most strike outs ever

  15. Aceofaerospace Says:

    I believe the passing record is very important to Jameis and the Bucs. He’ll play every play if possible.

  16. Bucaroni&Cheese Says:

    This guys kinda like babe Ruth-

    LOL I love me some Jameis and can appreciate the product, although flawed, that he generates but I’m not going to compare him to the Great Bambino anytime soon!

  17. stpetebucsfan Says:

    I’d like to see Griffin. He’s been described as a career backup but it’s actually even worse.

    The ONLY reason Griffin go on the field was because our backup was lost for the season due to injury.

    And so Griffin perhaps is more accurately defined as a “career practice squad” guy. He’s had to work just to maintain 3rd string status.

    If he’s not a legitimate backup I’d rather find out this week in Detroit. Again none of this has anything to do with JW. “Mr Excitement” will be back or he won’t…nothing he can do at this point to change that determination IMHO. I don’t know whether he returns…I suspect he will..but the Bucs must SURELY know unless they are beyond incompetent buffoons who fail to properly plan.

  18. unbelievable Says:

    He’s one tough mofo, that’s for sure.

    Playing through and ankle injury and a broken thumb.

  19. BucFanDuh Says:

    2nd half.. 13/16, 179 yards for 2 TDs and 1 INT. He’s currently 1-0 while playing with a fractured thumb on his throwing hand. Teddy went 5-0 while Brees was out with a busted hand… sooo many useful stats!
