“Impossible” To Let Jameis Walk

December 16th, 2019

The Future.

The way the tea leaves read for one plugged-in NFL columnist, he believes the Bucs were always leaning to bring back Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, for 2020.

Now, the same columnist believes Jameis returning to the Bucs is about a sure-thing as you can find.

Albert Breer of SI.com (it seems theMMQB.com is no more) typed his theMMQB column this morning (one is a site, the other is the name of a column) believing that after the last two weeks, it is “impossible” for the Bucs not to have Jameis barking signals behind center for the team in 2020, and probably beyond.

The Buccaneers were always going to have a hard time separating from Jameis Winston in 2020, given all they invested into his development. Games like Sunday’s—during which Winston absolutely looked the part of a gunslinging Bruce Arians quarterback, throwing for over 300 yards in the first half and finishing with 458 and four touchdowns—may make it borderline impossible. Paying him will be complicated, though.

But how complicated?

Is Breer suggesting once Bucs coach Bucco Arians leaves (we all know he’s not here for the long-term) Jameis will revert to the inconsistent, turnover-prone quarterback he was before? And as a result you cannot sign him to a long-term contract of more than, say, three years?

Joe can type the following with confidence: All the work Jameis has done with Arians, with offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, with quarterback guru Tom Moore, seems to now be paying off.

If that is the case, money would be well spent by Team Glazer.

I have figured out Jameis’s throwing issues…wearing the thumb brace made me see the light….he has been gripping the ball too hard ;-)…running for cover 🙂

  2. Bucsalltheway Says:

If we been had the defense we have now back then. Jameis would be fat by now you know how many w’s this team took off his plate….lol go bucs.

  3. Ndog Says:

This morning is a prime example as to why I, and others, feel the need to support the FACTS around our QB. Today on all the national shows there is NOTHING being said about the Bucs or Jameis. I know everyone will say it’s because we are out of the playoffs, but tell me if Jameis had thrown 4 picks and we lost we wouldn’t be a top 5 story. Yesterday Jameis did something that has never been done in THE HISTORY OF THE NFL yet it’s like it never happened. We as a fan base need to rally around this blatant bias against him and US. This is garbage and I am sick of it. Think about it we have the leading passer in the NFL, the leading sacker in the NFL in Shaq, we have the leading pass defender in the NFL in SMB, yet today in the national world we don’t exist. But if Jameis would have thrown 4 picks we would be talked about nonstop cause they just can’t wait to bury OUR QB. If you’re a Bucs fan this should make you sick.

“YOU CAN NOT GIVE JW3 TIME TO THROW

Give JW a clean pocket and he will go up and down the field for 400 yards every game and

IT DOESNT MATTER IF ITS BA OR KOETTER

Dennis Allen knows how to beat this BA offense every single time

Every play Blitz every linebacker cover 2 high and hit JW while waiting for his receivers to get open in the long developing plays

Give JW a clean pocket and he will be the the white Dan Marino”

  5. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Also IMPOSSIBLE to win a Super Bowl with him. Pick your poison.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Fix the run game…….something is dreadfully wrong & I don’t think it’s the RBs……
The defense is getting fixed……..our secondary has speed….even on the long pass that SMB interfered with….the WR was completely covered……& Dean defends so many passes because he’s there…..right on the receiver. You hardly heard Carlton Davis’ name yesterday because apparently they didn’t throw his way.
LVD & White are terrors…..and our Dline slams the door shut on runs.

  7. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Kobe Faker……so, you mean he’ll never win the Super Bowl.

  8. Sport Says:

For those of you who can’t see more than 6 inches in front of your face (eg trollmin guy and any other BA hater) here is, and has been the plan all along.

BA has developed a coaching/org structure for his Coordinators and others to do their job with autonomy. BA has the courage to give his leaders the day to day decision making, call the plays and execute. He is only stepping in when needed and setting the overall tone. If all goes according to plan, which it is (except the first half win loss record) he will be able to step even further back to allow his staff to learn and grow even more.

Strong coaching in all areas will become a hallmark of this team. One of the best compliments a coaching staff could get is to be promoted. Our next HC is already on this staff. They are executing BA’s plan and once he decides to step back, we won’t miss a beat.

It’s called a plan. Granted, we haven’t seen one around here in long while.

    In BA I Trust!

  9. Eric Says:

Of course Jameis isn’t going anywhere.

His departure is only in the thoughts of a small percentage of bucs fans who are mind numbingly ignorant.

But they do tend to be loud.

  10. R.O. Says:

Everyone forgets JW3 is only 25. Joe Burrow will already be 24 before his first NFL season ends.

  11. Pelsbuc61 Says:

I hope JW remembers that the Bucs always had his back when it comes time to negotiate a contract. If not, franchise him.

  12. ou812 Says:

  13. gotbbucs Says:

The next two games without Evans and Godwin will say alot. If he can continue to play winning football without those two then I think it becomes obvious what the decision should be, if it isn’t obvious already.

You’re an idiot and you’ve proven it again. This isn’t Madden, Dumbo. You come on here talking strategy yet it’s obvious you’ve never played and it’s possible never even watch football.

So let’s examine how stupid you are. You have four linemen and three linebackers. Or vice versa. Two safeties and two cornerbacks. You just said to rush all linemen and blitz all linebackers and drop your two safeties into cover two… essentially leaving two cornerbacks to cover the FIVE eligible offensive players. Never mind the fact that most of Winston’s picks lately have come on slants, short posts, and passes inside the hashmarks where YOUR blitzing LBs would be standing, never mind the fact that Winston is among the best at beating the blitz, never mind the fact that you’ve shown repeatedly that you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.

I just have one question for you. Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

  15. Stanglassman Says:

NDog- I hear yeah. They’ve always hated Jameis and love to ignore the Bucs so I’m sure it was a easy decision to not discuss the Bucs today. The Only Qb to pass for 450+ in two consecutive games. Brad, Trent and Jarod can get you to the super bowl but no way that will get you there. If there was a Lombardi for dumb fans we’d win it every year.

  16. 813bucboi Says:

    kobe

    BL ask: who’s your daddy?!!!!!!!

you and your dead beat dad talked a lot of sh!t about BL and all he’s done is lead the bucs to a top offense in scoring, passing, yards, red zone and 3rd&long converses…..

BL has made the 2 of you look foolish…..

never thought someone could be as dumb as realist but you’ve out done him….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  17. Cgmaster27 Says:

Where is our resident dunce cap wearing tool bucnut at? Got real quiet after that last td yesterday. Trolls im general real quiet, well except the other dull tool morgus above.

  18. 813bucboi Says:

offer JW a 3year deal at 25mil per with a 4th year option at 35mil….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  19. Marlow1976 Says:

We played the LIONS who are 3-10 and everyone is ready to crown JW the QB King. We are but one game removed from a three interception performance. I know we have to keep him, for now, a necessary evil, because we have no other viable options, but let’s not get carried away. JW has thrown 24 interceptions through 14 games, wow. Also, do not forget JW threw for 400 yards vs. Carolina and threw 5 picks too. Don’t fall in love with yardage folks. Do not let Joe’s propaganda fool you either. Only one stat matters, W’s! We have to be on the lookout for next Buccaneers QB or we will have a completely sunken ship at some point in the near future. How long would you keep an employee with a 5 year history of 100+ screw ups?

  20. Go Bucs 72 Says:

I’m not saying Jameis is great, OF COURSE he needs to cut out the bone headed picks, but he’s good enough to win with. I have zero interest in starting over with a rookie or Andy Dalton or whatever other old sucky QB that gets released at the end of the season. Bring back this year’s front seven, the secondary has gotten better with experience (+ cutting Hargreaves) and they’ll have a year under the belt, we draft a right tackle and a running back and I like our chances to make the playoffs next season. GO BUCS!!!

  21. Snook Says:

No way his agent allows him to sign a 2-3 year deal. Who comes up with this crap?

  22. DalvinCookRules Says:

“Revert to being turnover prone?” (When Arians leaves)

Seriously, did I just read that? You DO KNOW that Winston’s turnover rate has SPIKED under this new coaching staff right?

You lose a lot of credibility when you base arguments on emotiona rather than facts.

  23. TexBuc Says:

    Pelsbuc

You mean just like is first 4 years when everyone knew Koetter did not want to draft him? When Koetter knew he was done last year he benched Winston? How many times did you Winston come off the field and Koetter did not even approach or even talk and make eye contact?

Only way as a player do you protect yourself is getting paid which ensures owners will be upset watch a player getting paid big sitting on the bench.

  24. ou812 Says:

    DalvinCookRules

Joe never !!! Lets Facts get in the way of his man crush for #3 !

  25. unbelievable Says:

“Revert to the turnover-probe quarterback he was before?”

Uhhh, is he not turnover prone now? I’m confused are we talking about the same Jameis Winston?

I want him back but let’s not pretend he doesn’t lead the league in INTs by a wide margin lol.

  26. unbelievable Says:

    *turnover-prone

Damn autocorrect always fkn things up

  27. TexBuc Says:

Fun fact in 1990’s we went 56 games without scoring 30 points a game. If I remember it was more like 10-14 points a game.

  28. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Fun fact yesterday Fameis had at least 8 passes over 20 yards and all tds were over 25 yards each. Bet there were a lot of Buc fans hating that performance but celebrating his pick.

  29. Tval Says:

    Lest we forget the SCHEDULE.
ANY YEARS regular schedule, not designed to ROB Jameis, and the Bucs are in the playoffs 100% without question.
Bucs fans just let that slide. RIDICULOUS. this fan base has treated Jameis like trash. I wouldn’t even be upset if he left now. $30+ a year, and at LEAST $70 guaranteed…or I’ll see you in Chicago or Indy. The two best young pro style coaches in the league. No need to stick around anymore if the fans are so disloyal they’re trying to make him LOSE money.
