Bruce Arians Names 5 Pro Bowl Caliber Buccaneers

December 16th, 2019

Bucco Bruce Arians was asked to name Pro Bowl worthy Buccaneers this afternoon at One Buc Palace.

The official announcement of the team will come from the NFL tomorrow night.

Arians made it clear that he’s not a lover of either the Pro Bowl or the selection process, but he did serve up five names.

“Start with Chris [Godwin] and Mike [Evans],” Arians said. “After that I think, you know, Shaq [Barrett] has to be involved in it. Vita [Vea] has had that type of year. Lavonte [David], for sure. I’m not a big fan, so.”

The first three names there, Godwin, Evans and Barrett, should be locks for the Pro Bowl. Vea and David won’t get there because they don’t have the numbers and enough respect around the league.

Whether Evans or Godwin will be healthy enough for the Pro Bowl is unclear.

    i agree…

CG, ME13, SB should get in without a doubt…..

If JW didnt lead the league in INTs he’d probably get in too….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  2. Tnew Says:

I hope with Evans, WAY to show up to a Detroit game in December btw,,, SO love this, goes ahead and skips the game. Same thing if Godwin is out. No sense in Evans aggravating it while playing safety.

  3. Mort Says:

Put Jameis in there. You don’t throw for five thousand yards and lead the league in most passing stats and not make it.

  4. Owlykat Says:

Definitely include David too. By the way, so refreshing not to read posts from the Jameis haters and the sky is falling, the Bucs suck, fire the GM, only the sheep will know, negative trolls who were all over this site, belittling BA and calling him a liar, etc. Of course the poster wanting the Bucs to trade for his do nothing RB from a small school is still around; but that is it.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Not a pro bowl candidate but Pinion leads the NFL in touchback percentage. I wonder how many injuries he has saved…on both teams

  6. firethecannons Says:

    and Jameis

  7. buc15 Says:

I’m officially announcing a new nickname for Jameis

    BALLING A$S JAMEIS

  8. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Pro Bowl is whatever because it is a BS game that needs to go away; the real measure is the AL-Pro team and the NFL Network’s top 100 and several bucs deserve both honors in 2020 for their play this year

  9. Slugglife Says:

With half the picks JW has almost 6k yards and climbing with 2 games left.

What could have been man. Sucks to be this close to the post season again only to be looking through the glass at other teams.

  10. buc15 Says:

I know it sucks slugglife but look on the positive side looks like we have turned this ship around. Big things coming next year

  11. Slugglife Says:

Godwin and Evans better be locks for All Pro. If not, the system isn’t worth having.

  12. Slugglife Says:

Godwin is running away with the number of 20+ yard plays. It’s not even close.

  13. Jonzey Says:

JW should if he throw for 5,000 yards

  14. Wesley Says:

I expect David will make it, it may be replacing someone, but he’ll be there.

  15. BigMacAttack Says:

I’m with BA, it’s a colossal waste of time and money that only promotes hard feelings. I just don’t care either way. I think Lavonte is great but he and local media have whined about it since his first season. Get to the playoffs. Win a championship. Make the team great, which takes everyone, and focus on what’s important.

  16. Allbuccedup Says:

Throw Winston in there if he hits 5300 passing yards 35 tds and 25 ints.

  17. Bucsfanman Says:

Between LVD and Vea, LVD. I doubt they make it though.
One COULD argue that Vea’s presence has done more for this defense as a whole. Even as a “part-timer” as Joe likes to call him.

  18. Stanglassman Says:

I just watched the mic’d up with Shaq B. Did anyone see him help up the Lions Qb after knocking him down. This guy is even nicer than McCoy. Maybe just maybe the problem with McCoy wasn’t being a nice guy. BTW did anyone else see Suh punch the Lions Qb in the gut when he just missed a sack. Nasty shot as he was getting up. Thought it was gonna draw 15.

  19. Anonymous Says:

I’ve been a critic of JW but I don’t think you can ignore his insane passing yards and he might get in. Especially with his four game winning streak. If he runs the table he deserves it. Been a big critic of his but he deserves credit IF he play through to 9-7.

  20. DBS Says:

The Bucs are playing 2-14 Buc type teams. They should be beating these teams or they really would be the laughing stock. Now let me know when they can beat the cream of the crop. Then I will believe they have really made a change in the right direction.

  21. Issac haggins Says:

No offensive lineman and that’s why they can’t run and the qb gets the hell beat outta hims

  22. cmurda Says:

I’m happy for ndog. It’s refreshingly evident that nobody can pile on Jameis after these 4 last games with each one seemingly better than the previous. I’ve always said the best thing that can help our team get to the playoffs is Jameis working out. Jameis is still young and I see mild improvements in his decision making but the talent is immense. Sure, I’ve been critical but these last few games left no doubt in my mind that I want to see JW tagged or signed to a 2 or 3 year deal. I’m just not so sure about a long term deal. Also not so sure that JW would go for a deal that isn’t long term.

  23. cmurda Says:

@Anonymous. Particularly if he does it without M.E. or Godwin. That’s a whole lot to ask but neither defense we are playing is scary

  24. Ed Says:

Despite the yardage and touchdowns Jameis has thrown, Drew Brees and Russell Wilson are having better seasons. Brees was again magnificent. His timing and quickness getting rid of the ball and not taking sacks is incredible. Every time I watch Saints games I see blitzers coming that look like they are going to cream Brees and he just makes a move, slides outside, throws strikes to crossing patters, guy is simply a phenom for a 40 year old.

Wilson takes some sacks but can you name the receivers he is throwing TD’s to? None of the Seahawks receivers would start on the Bucs.

  25. Owlykat Says:

Jameis had no problem throwing over 450 yards to backups and Perriman last Sunday. However, Houston has good pass rushers who will rush Jameis and this will be a very tough challenge in front of our fans on this coming Saturday.

  26. Owlykat Says:

But don’t count BA out! We will give them a tough football game.
