14 1/2 Sacks Now For Shaq Barrett

December 1st, 2019

Drank Nick Foles’ and Gardiner Minshew’s Gatorade.

Two more quarterback QB takedowns today in Jacksonville for Shaq Barrett.

The beastly linebacker is now 2 1/2 sacks from the franchise single-season record!

Warren Sapp and Simeon Rice each notched 16.5 sacks in seasons with the Bucs. That’s the kind of company free-agent-to-be Barrett is keeping.

And Shaq plays the run. And he had four more quarterback hits today.

Shaq is the most fun sideshow to this lost Buccaneers season. He keeps pouring it on and Joe suspects it will not stop.

Are the Bucs going to pay the 27-year-old the monster contract coming his way? Or will they let him walk out the door?

Keep killin’ it Shaq! Make the Bucs open the vault!

“He just continues and gets better and better,” Arians said of Shaq after the game.

We’ve got to reach out to him. Make’em Buc for long time.

  5. RJ Bucnut Says:

Hey Joe can we talk about how our stud rookie LB outplayed your luv child Josh Allen!!??? Allen has a sack but was not a factor, my boy D White has his fingerprints all over this win. Thank god Lee is not our GM. Licht’s plan to sign Barret and draft White is a thing of BEAUTY!!! Boooo!!!

  6. JimmyJack Says:

I want Barrett to stay in Tampa Bay!!!!!!!

  8. UKBucs Says:

Pay the man!! We can’t afford to let that talent and that number of sacks walk out the door. The defensive system clear suits Shaq!
    Go Bucs!

  9. BrianBucs Says:

This man is going to get PAID. The question is, by what team?

  10. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

Me too!!!! Pay him, JPP and Nassib. Keep this D-Line together.

  11. JimmyJack Says:

Panthers lose……Bucs tied for second place!!!!!

Maybe only moral victory but after years spent in the cellar I for one am glad to see us fight and claw our ways out!!!

  12. adam from ny Says:

    can we keep him dad???

    lol

  13. Buczilla Says:

For the love of all that is good in the world, pay this man.

  14. geno711 Says:

Still want Barrett and JPP for 26 million combined next year instead of Jameis for 22 million. May be wrong but those are my thoughts.

  15. JimmyJack Says:

Pay Barrett and we must retain Suh.

  16. JimmyJack Says:

Joe remember how long we begged and prayed for a double digits sack guy?

Can’t let this kind of talent get out of Tampa. It can literally take a full decade to replace it.

  17. Chris Says:

Today’s defense felt like 2002. Interceptions, sacks, fumbles and defensive touchdowns.

  18. Pelsbuc61 Says:

We could keep Shaq, JPP and Suh if Buc don’t sign the turnover machine.

  19. Bucsfan101 Says:

    He’s a keeper

  20. JimmyJack Says:

Licht signed Barrett. Does this mean he’s not a dumbass?

  21. firethecannons Says:

Honestly even though we only have a 5 win team, we need to resign all of these guys! They are really coming on now and are a pleasure to watch progress. Even SMB got in there with a critical interception.

  22. JimmyJack Says:

Pelsbucs…..we need a QB bro. If you don’t bring back Winston you gotta pay that same money to Rivers or Eli or whoever they bring in.

  23. Etzel Says:

We need to keep him, at all costs.

  24. Sleepy903 Says:

There are some contracts that can be reconstructed and players cut to make Shaq, JPP, Suh and JW all work.

  25. Marine Buc Says:

Pay him what? Khalil Mack got a $141 million six year deal. Are you willing to pay Shaq Barrett @ $20 million a year with 3 or 4 years guaranteed?

  26. Pete Mitchell Says:

Is there anything preventing us from using the franchise tag on him?

  27. JimmyJack Says:

Worth noting that Barrett is a free agent and does have to want to come back…….For that reason it is a pitfalls of tanking for draft ots that some give no credit to.

Barrett can literally choose where he wants to play……Now all players are different but some choose a team they think they can win with. Y’all wanna tank then you can’t whine if we lose quality players.

  28. JimmyJack Says:

Marine I am willing to pay that price if that’s what it cost. Probably means you can’t afford JPP however. Which is really probably a tough call based on leadership/lockerroom presence.

  29. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Jameis better look at all the times he’s put this team in a bind with all his turnovers and give the Bucs a hometown discount so that they can pay Shaq Attack the money he deserves. We need him more than any player on this team. Winston doesn’t deserve a huge or long term contract. 3 yrs $$39mil at the most with$$15mil guarantee. No other team is going to pay him a huge contract so he needs to bite his pride and stay at a lower contract

  30. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

    6 yrs $$$120 mil with $$90mil guaranteed

  31. J Says:

    Dont let that man walk!!!

  32. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If need be, we need to sign Shaq & JPP……draft a replacement for Suh & Dotson…..save some $$$…..
I’m not sure we can keep them all…..remember, we have to pony up for Godwin.

Winston???……If we are keeping him it makes more sense to try to sign him to a 2 or 3 year deal for $20 mil……I’m not sure another team will pay him that much. They would more likely draft a QB…..

  33. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    $20 mil per year….

  34. Marine Buc Says:

I fine with keeping him @ $20 mil per season. But keep in mind JPP, Suh, Nassib, Winston and Godwin all need resigned with only $90 million to do it plus deduct @ $8-$10 million for draft picks.

  35. unbelievable Says:

    @Marine yea I agree.

Those guys are all key pieces. I don’t think they’ll be able to sign Jameis for much less than 20m/season average. Maybe you can get that average down to 18 but otherwise another team will definitely offer him as much.

It’s just the going rate today considering what some other starters get paid. I mean mike LOLglennon got like 18m a year or something right? and he didn’t even start half the season!

  36. Marine Buc Says:

And please stop saying “sign Winston to a two year deal”. That will never happen. Who in the hell signs a two year deal? If we resign Winston it will probably be a 5 year deal with 3 years guaranteed at @ $23-$25 million per year.

  37. ocala Says:

I am confident the Bucs are going to resign Winston and Barrett. I am sure they are also going to try to resign Nassib and Suh also.

  38. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Resign Barrett. Dump Jay Miss. Draft a QB (it doesn’t have to be the 1st round).

  39. BucsNY96 Says:

If I’m the Bucs I put the transition tag on him & if they can’t match the deal somebody signs him to then they get a 1st round draft pick.

I’m not sure how this seasons going to end but if they can keep this defense together & add to it I think they can be REALLY good next yr as the young players continue to grow.

  40. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    SteveK Says
    “#2020FranchiseTag”

I agree. And lock up Jameis with an incentive-laden contract with minimal guarantees.

Say, for example, 18 picks would nullify guarantees.

  41. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

We can easily spend $25m per year on Jameis, and still bring back the defensive line. How?

Because part of the new labor agreement may well allow teams to make one player exempt from the cap…that would obviously be the highest paid player, freeing up the $25m in cap space.

As to Barret, re-signing him is an absolute must, but I would take JPP over Suh. We can draft a good DT to replace Suh. JPP would be next to impossible to replace. With Vea in the middle, all we need is a big run stopper next to him.

  42. Sl33pingBear Says:

I hope I’m wrong but the buccs have proven they are unwilling to pay these kind of players in the past. Add his name to the long list of guys that show talent and promise but this organization lets them walk and then overpays washed old vets. No Barrett no JPP and no Suh this line will be less productive and on top of that a very young secondary next year will be rough

  43. HernandoBuc Says:

They better not let him walk. We haven’t had this many splash plays in years. Him and JPP better get locked up. We still need to draft some pash rushers but lock these dudes up!!!

  44. BucHead588 Says:

Barrett will not get out of Tampa I promise y’all that even if he gets the Tag he’s not going anywhere y’all this team is starting to gel An find there Grove

  45. Matthew Fifer Says:

We can’t keep the key players on D and sign Jameis, we just don’t have the money to do it. As we all know, defense wins championships, it’s not just a saying, it’s true. You put the best D versus the best O in the SB, and 90% of the time, the Defense is going to win that game.

Paying JW big bucks is the wrong move. If he stays on a team deal so we can sign the people on D we desperately need, then fine. If he wants big money, we lose the players we need to keep, and will continue having a losing team. If JW didn’t turn the ball over like he does, maybe we could be a one-sided all out offensive powerhouse, and still win, but he’s not Mahommes so I have no faith in that working for this team.

  46. TOM Says:

Whatever it takes to sign Shaq. Also need to sign Nassib & if possible JPP.

  47. BucEmUp Says:

Gotta pay him and Winston. Gotta pay Suh, gotta pay Vea, gotta pay nassib. Lotta mouthes to feed. Shaq comes first though.
