Season Officially Lost For Justin Evans

November 15th, 2019

The No. 50 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, 24-year-old Justin Evans, continues to have medical issues.

Bruce Arians shared the news today at One Buc Palace. Evans will not return from injured reserve, Arians said, making this a completely lost season.

Evans’ feet have been failing him, and Arians said he will require surgery the foot he’s not rehabbing right now.

Joe can’t keep track of all the issues with Evans’ wheels. Lots of sad breaks for the former starting safety who managed a few practices this summer.

With the Saints coming to town Sunday, the selection of Evans always seems to fall into the spotlight since the Bucs, in need of a running back at the time, drafted Evans before Pro Bowl Saints running back Alvin Kamara was selected by New Orleans.

Them feet are money makers and foot injuries are no joke. Auclair went to IR with turf toe. See you next training camp.

  3. 813bucboi Says:

  4. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

in other news..tampa has a bay

  5. Mike Johnson Says:

I like Evans. But he should know by now. He gave it his best shot. How come a lot of these guys keep tryin until the wheels fall off and cause them life long dehabilitating injuries? Cut your losses young man while you are young and find another career.

  6. 813bucboi Says:

good thing CD is back for the saints game….

    or is it?…lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  7. Cgmaster27 Says:

@813 its an even better thing hargreaves wont be back for the saints game.

  8. Hodad Says:

Could’ve drafted Kamara, which a lot of people thought we would, but Licht out smarted them all , and picked a safety no one ever heard of Justin Evans. Throw him on the heap behind One Buc of Licht’s other failed draft choices. The pile must be getting high, VH bust was just added days ago. Nice job Jason, keep up the good work. The Glazers don’t know the difference, you’re good.

  9. james west Says:

cut him time to throw in the towell

  10. Coburn Says:

Yeah he may be dine with football at this point. As mentioned it’s really too bad… he came across as a very athletic guu who could cover a lot of grass very quickly and make plays across the field. Hard to blame Licht not knowing what he would have been either eay without terrible luck. Don’t remember anyone mentioning a history or injuries when drafted. Obviously in Hindsight kamara is a stud

  11. catcard202 Says:

    Let’s hope for a full recovery…

  12. Tampabuscsbro Says:

Allow me to introduce you all to LSU prospect Grant Delpit.

  13. Season Is Over Says:

Another second round question. Ho hum. Jason Licht is the worst GM in professional sports.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Let’s hope Evans has a full recovery and returns next year….one less need going forward.

I hold Licht accountable for his picks….but not his picks’ injuries.

  15. 813bucboi Says:

    bucsbro

delpit is a beast and i would love for us to draft him but we just drafted edwards last year and whitehead the year before….

we need big boys along the trenches….

but i wouldnt be mad if we grabbed him….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  16. Deminion Says:

    Where is beckwith?

  17. Kevin Says:

I like Evans too. Ofcourse Kamara was better in hindsight but the pick made sense and he played decently when healthy. Hope he recovers eventually.

  18. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Officially now Bustin’ Evans. Flashed with a Tom Brady pick and a scoop and score…but little else. One of Licht Weight’s many second round or so secondary squanders. Luckily for Licht Weight he has better job security than a tenured teacher.

  19. BUC @ FAN Says:

Evans Get Healthy we will see you next year. Man has a lot of talent and he will be needed next year.

  20. Jean Lafitte Says:

more revisionism …I’m not enamored by Licht and a lot of his decisions but judging him in hindsight is a low blow when you are privy to Kamara’s success.

    this is trolling

  21. unbelievable Says:

His career is probably dunzo at this point. Tough break for the young man, he definitely flashed skills when he was healthy.

    Oh well, next man up!

  22. buc15 Says:

yep Tampabaybucfan. Bashing this young man for an injury just goes to shows the class of some on this site

  23. Tampabuscsbro Says:

    813

Yeah I agree but if JPP and Barrett stay then Delpit would be a great pick. we can get a value right tackle trading up into the late first/early second. right now the best Edge that is going to be there when we pick is that AJ Espenza guy out of Iowa

  24. Adrnagy Says:

Get Derrick brown. Sign a veteran safety and cb.

  25. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Licht sure knows what he is doing

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Bad news for Justin. He’s a decent prospect.

  27. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

LOL…typing his first name gets you moderated…wonder why that is?

  28. unbelievable Says:

hahaha Bonzai I’m guessing it has something to do with a certain “alleged” pedophile…

  29. JimmyJack Says:

Basically a foregone conclusion for those of us nuts who been following this team everyday. Thanks for sharing the official word Joe.

  30. JimmyJack Says:

Bonzai it been that way for quite some time. Wacky stuff.

  31. OBP Says:

Hate to say it but he’s done. 2 years and that foot/ankle STILL isn’t healed? Man the luck we’ve had with young, talented players having career ending injuries while on their rookie deals. First Beckwith, now Evans.

  32. TOM Says:

Cut his ass & move on.

  33. 813bucboi Says:

    cg

    i agree….

    gotta find another scapegoat now….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  34. 813bucboi Says:

    bucsbro

i hope we do resign them….

as of now, delpit is the only skills player that i would be cool with in the 1st round….love AJs motor….

our weapons are fine….we need oline depth, dline depth and safeties….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  35. WyldKat Says:

Cmon, this one is an injury and not suckage. That’s not as bad. Ish.

  36. passthebuc Says:

sounds like someone did not do their homework

  37. donuts Says:

Cut this bust. Don’t pull a “Spence” and not do the obvious. The procrastination on a player’s value by Lichty are killing the Bucs as a franchise. Its like a slow NFL death.

I strongly believe Licht’s ineptitude is a source of the culture problem in that locker room. VH3 and GMC was a start. See it cut it…this is how Bill does it in NE. You see him clinging to anyone? Hell no. His advantage is that he knows how to coach and bring the best out of players.

  38. #1bucfan Says:

Like the few splash plays he has given us. Get healthy cuz we need all the help this secondary can get an them some

  39. Sleepy903 Says:

Im from Texas and a big Texas fans and of course hate the aggies except Mike Evans once he became a buc and wasn’t happy about drafting Justin Evans however he was one of the few high end players on that Aggie team on Defense that year. He was always around the ball. I felt like he had a high ceiling because A&M weren’t really known for developing their defensive talent. So i knew he would be even better than he was in college. I hate the injuries derailed his career. If he can come back and contribute good however when you have multiple injuries back to back its hard to get back to an elite level.

  40. orlbucfan Says:

This is just sad but “them’s the breaks.” Now, I know what happened with Beckwith, too. Shaking head.

  41. ElBajito43 Says:

Jason “Trash” Licht is a man who looks to always be some kind of innovator. He fancies himself a guru, while sitting poolside eating a full box of Walmart donuts. He is the type of guy who buys a bunch of little stupid gifts and spreads them out under the tree, somehow spending all the money 💴 and yet getting almost nothing of value.

Thanks is right ^^^^ (to whoever said it 1st)

    Happy Holidays Buccaneers Fans!
