Chris Godwin Honored By NFL

November 27th, 2019

Receives award.

The price keeps going up.

After racking up 184 yards and two touchdowns on some sweet catches and runs Sunday in Atlanta, the NFL announced that Bucs budding star wide receiver Chris Godwin is the “NFC Offensive Player of the Week.”

This is the second time Godwin received the honor. The first came on the last game of his rookie season when he hauled in a bomb from America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, on the final offensive play of the season to beat the playoff-bound and NFC South division champion Saints at the Den of Depression.

The highlight of Godwin’s day on Sunday was when he caught a 71-yard pass from Jameis.

Godwin leads the NFL in touchdowns (nine) and is second in receiving yards (1,071) and fourth in receptions (70).

Somewhere, Godwin’s agent is smiling.

His whole family is smiling. Doubt its from the future contract coming his way tho. He is team first all the way. Raised that way. He isnt gona hold them hostage over a few mil like alot of divas. Good problem to have

  2. #1bucfan Says:

We can’t let this guy go. The glazers need cough up some extra dollars to keep this guy in a ugly Bucs uniform. It’s a little mind boggling that fans want to dump ME13 for Godwin. Yes he’s faster an his routes are crisper but fans forget ME13 has bin literally ballin all over defenses for 6 straight years an is prob a hall of Famer 1 day smh

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Foregone conclusion on the money & signing…..you could see this coming from the get-go…..

  4. Rick Says:

If only we had some consistency…

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

Michael Thomas and Godwin going to be the all-pro WR’s this year.

would you rather have ME13, CG and JW….

    OR

    CG, JW, 2 1st round picks and 2 2nd round picks…..

i love ME13 just as much as the next bucs fan but we need some serious depth at multiple positions in the trenches…..

if the PATS or any team offer 4picks over 2years for ME13 i’d take it….

that’ll help build and sustain a contender for years to come….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  7. Dewey Selmon Says:

813, This is the same situation as JuJu. He was great when he had a #1 to take pressure off him, now he is a number 1 and constantly getting doubled with no one else to throw the ball too. If Evans leaves it will effect Godwin more than JW.

  8. 813bucboi Says:

    dewey

steelers dont have 2 very good TEs….

steelers have 1 WR and a injury prone RB….plus JuJu has played most of the year with his 2nd and 3rd string QB…..

i see it more like tyler lockett….folks thought the seahawks were crazy when they didnt get a true #1 WR but turns out lockett is a beast….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  9. pryda...sec 147 Says:

We have to pay him he has earned it. Just like Shaq Barrett

  10. orlbucfan Says:

Got the usual flatulence going on here about trading ME13. It’s stupid and it stinks. Plus, it won’t happen. 🙂 🙂 Ungodly!!!! 🙂 🙂 I called this one. If ME13 had caught a few more passes, we would have had a double OPW. That one is coming if nitwit BA would gameplan around our TEs, too.

  11. Dewey Selmon Says:

Vjax and Evans reached 1,000 with McCown/Glennon throwing the ball.

  12. Kobe Faker Says:

“No NFL team has signed 2 receivers with top 5 positional contracts (over $16 mill per receiver)

Because of the salary cap limitations, All the GMs have built their teams with at the most 1 top paid receiver (16 mill) and not 2

they have gone thru the draft or signed a #2 type receiver with their much smaller contract to fill the 2nd receiver position

All the Gms instead allocated the 16 mill to fill other holes and sign FAs to address more important position than the #2 wr

*Trade 1 trick pony MeMe for #1 and #3 draft picks”

  13. PragueBucsFan Says:

Wow there are some stupid comments above

  14. Bucfan81 Says:

Why trade Mike Evans just find a way to sign Godwin and have both WR. The saints have a hell of a lot of quality players that they find a way to keep staying under the cap so we can do the same.

  15. 813bucboi Says:

    81

    i wouldnt shop him, but if a team called, 2 1st and 2 2nd would/should be the asking price…..

saints also ONLY have MT….their #2 in ted ginn…lol…

rams made the SB last year with cooper kupp, b.cooks and r.woods as their main WR core…..which one of those WRs are better than CG or ME13?….

philly won with nelson agulor and alshon jeffery….are they better than CG and ME13?….

seahawks, 9ers, ravens dont have a WR on the same level as CG or ME13 but they are the top teams in the league….

meanwhile pittsburg had a boat load of weapons…..m.bryant, a.brown,l.bell, juju, ben…..howd that work out for them?….

we have 2 #1 WRs but we’re sitting on 4wins with holes in the trenches….

    do the math folks….lol….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  16. 813bucboi Says:

    orlbucfan

raiders said the same thing about k.mack and a.cooper….

but the only way for them to add talent and depth was to trade assets….

they still have picks in this draft coming up fro their trade….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  17. unbelievable Says:

Godwin wouldn’t be putting up the numbers he has without ME13 on the team too, it’s as simple as that.

  18. JustBucNwin Says:

Sign this man in the off-season and we have the best duo in the league for years to come!

  19. orlbucfan Says:

From what I’ve read on here, the 2020 draft will be loaded with a lot of potential talent. That includes linemen. No reason to trade either CG or ME. JPP is getting to retire. Isn’t Suh a 1-year guy? I trust Licht and the draft. I don’t like the Raiders so don’t follow their players.

  20. Armybucsfan Says:

We need to keep both Evans and Godwin at all costs. Focus on getting a good running back and a more accurate QB to turn them from great to future hall of Famers.

  21. Dirks Great Granpappy Says:

Lol who would offer two 1s and two 2s for Evans? Cmon. Antonio brown went for a 3 and 5 and he was significantly better than mike. You don’t trade mike bc you won’t get enough and he is a great player that we need on our team.

Please do not draft secondary. Use fa for the secondary and draft linemen/rb.

  22. Leighroy Says:

Arguing the Bucs have 2 stud TE’s to pair with Godwin if they trade Evans fails to recognize facts over the last 11 games. They may have talent but this system doesn’t feature them.

If anything trade Brate (for a bag of donuts for all I care, it’s about cap space), use what’s left of that 6-year 41 mil contract he signed last year and fork it over to Godwin.

What other teams pay two TE’s 10 mil a year total to catch 2.5 passes per game?

  23. Bill Macy Says:

The Bucs need to lock up both receivers! Long term contracts that spread the big bucks over time to preserve cap space. We really need a third bad ass receiver. Perriman has hands of stone and doesn’t seem to have good foot work near the sidelines. He has good size and adequate speed but can’t seem to adjust to the ball if it doesn’t hit him right in the hands. Goodwin and Evans make JW look good by catching off target throws all the time. We miss Hump who was a great over the middle third down receiver with crisp cuts and sure hands. OJ should fill that role but what happened to him?

  24. George Rauh Says:

Last year the Bucs payed Evans 17 Brate 7 and Jackson 11 million. Evans makes 20 mil this year and goes down to 15 mil in 2020. Godwin is due to make less than a million next year. Trade Brate use his money to extend Godwin, 4yrs 68 mil. With 8 mil roster bonus for 2020, cap hit 9 million. 2021 – 2024 cap hit 12.5
