Welcome To The 2020 NFL Draft

October 27th, 2019

“Bruce, you said we were talented.”

Happy Halloween!

Jameis Winston is giving the ball away like it’s mini-Snickers to trick-or-treaters, and Bucs fans are shifting their focus to the NFL Draft.

Tradition!!

Barring the Bucs (2-5) cranking out a three-game winning streak very soon, draft talk will dominate November from Bradenton to Brandon and to the Bill Currie Ford showroom.

It’s just how we roll around these parts.

So what will the Bucs need in the NFL Draft?

Let’s start with the offense: offensive lineman and running back are clear needs.

A young receiver would be smart addition, too. However, that need could be shelved if the Bucs paid both Chris Godwin and Mike Evans and drafted a rookie QB who would be under the rookie pay scale. Is quarterback a need? It sure is if the season ended today.

Moving to the defense: edge rusher, defensive tackle and cornerback are clear needs for a rebuilding Bucs team.

Of course, free agency will be a huge factor in 2020, as the Bucs should have a mountain of money to spend. Joe just wanted to formally kick off draft-talk season.

Wasn’t that fun? Actually, it’s vomit inducing.

If Arians is the coach Team Glazer thinks he is, he’ll get this Bucs mess cleaned up in a hurry and this sad team will find its way to seven wins this season. That would mean a lot was fixed and the team’s needs won’t feel limitless.

    Lol

Maybe a non impact player at #5 or #19 overall. Lol

  2. Wesley Says:

If Licht is still here none of it will matter.

  3. Ndog Says:

Wow just wow none of the TOs today are on the QB and that was documented by the head coach yet this website keeps stating that the QB gave away the ball today. No wonder we have some many misinformed gobers that comment on this site. Why do you believe everything the head coach says? –Joe They simple read the drivel on this site and believe the crap that is produced here. I’m done with this site as it can no longer be trusted to provide real life information. I can read the stats like a 10 year old but to actually know what happens you have to actually watch the games which no one with a brain could conclude the QB was responsible for at least two of those TOs then the head coach clearly states the other two weren’t on him either. But whoever wrote this article clearly doesn’t have a brain cause I know they watched the game.

  4. Bucs_Fan_Orlando Says:

    ” Is quarterback a need?”

    Bwahahahahahahaha……..

I just woke up from my post game chug feast. Shots shots shots…… Shots…

    Is that a real question?

I need more to drink, is it 2022 yet?

I’m sitting here watching backup 48 year old Matt Moore play and wishing he was our QB.

Tomorrow after my hangover is done I’m going to compare JW to all the backuos playing this year. Spoiler alert, I don’t think JW is going to compare well against most of them.

Draft a QB? Come on Joe, I watched the new Chapelle Netflix Special last night I can only take so much comedy in 24 hours.

Now, back to my Sailor Jerry and coke with not much coke……

  5. Tye Says:

Joe Burrow seems like he would be an exciting pick but 1 season, is that enough.
I would not be mad if the Bucs got Jake Fromm or Jacob Eason.
Justin Herbert I know little about but if he is better than what we have now , great…

See what veteran is available and this time, do it the right way!

  6. Rayjay1122 Says:

With the 4th pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Mr. Irrelevant, CB Springfield Community Technical College of Liberal Arts.

  7. Bucs_Fan_Orlando Says:

    Just a quick mention.

    JW QBR 68.1

    Tannerhill QBR 109.8

    ……

Yeah. JW would have be cut by the Phins……

  8. Wisconsinbucsfan Says:

Trade deadline Tuesday, roster needs purge, trade the issue players if possible, set up for draft… season over #1 priority new QB

  9. CPN Says:

C’mon Licht, draft more DBs. We need more DBs to fix that secondary.

  10. Sbucs Says:

No chance of seven or five maybe three wins. Jason will screw the draft anyway.

  11. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I’d see what team will give up for Jameis

I’d take 3rd rd pick for the interception / turnover machine and be with it

…..wash your hands of this 1# Overall draft pick bust

  12. Sbucs Says:

No chance of seven or five maybe three wins.

  13. Rayjay1122 Says:

Any GM who would give any picks for Winston would be even more stupid than Licht. Nobody wants this loser. Trust me.

    Offseason needs:
    1. New uniforms.
    2. Get a boring, unknown QB that can be very accurate and decisive.
    3. Let Leftwich move on to head coach somewhere. Offense is uninspiring.
    4. Draft both sides of the line. Top tier lines make skill guys looks good.
    5. Enjoy the playoffs on TV.

  15. MadMax Says:

    Is what it is 🙁

Good news? Yes draft, we’re QB hunting 🙂 (dont care how much BA tries to protect JW#3)

I do not know this user and have frequented this site for some time but this is the most informed take since the inception of JoeBucsFan. #4 on the list would have saved the “boring” QB before Winston. Well done! This is how you return to the playoffs.

  17. bucfan21 Says:

It’s time to start Ronald jones full time. He makes guys miss and has nice cuts, maybe if he got more than 4 carries he could get into a rhythm and we would have a running game.

  19. BA Redzone Says:

    Sharing same post, from earlier:

I acknowledge that JW3 has been bad. But since JW3 was drafted on a bad team, we have TOTALLY WHIFFED, for most part, on high #1 and #2 draft picks, who are supposed to be impact players —who should HELP a rookie QB during growth pains.

    2016
Vernon Hargreaves —–Still suspect pick, might be traded or cut. not worthy of #1 pick
    Noah Spence —Cut No Impact
Roberto — Cut – What else is there to say here? He lost us several games.

    2017
OJ Howard? Should have drafted Dalvin Cook….OJ has zero impact in this offense.
    Justin Evans —-Questionable
Chris Godwin — the FIND of the DRAFT – HUGE win for Licht

    2018
Vita Vea – took half a season to get going last year – Excellent now Win for Licht
Rojo – zero impact in 2018. Better this season. Still not sure why he is behind Barber today

    2019
Devin White – Been a ghost. Great killer tackle today. I think he will be a force, over time.
Sean Bunting — Jury still out

Net – When you have a Rookie QB in 2015, see the Dallas Cowboys. DRAFT freaking offensive lineman, to protect your investment, for the fans and Glazers. Ali Marpet/Donovan are good….we need more…

JW3 will resurrect his career on another team next year.

Bucs fans – will have a rookie QB next year, still needing to score 30 pts a game to win, and running for to stay alive. and no pass rush, or competent secondary to stop the sieve.

  20. lambchop Says:

    Ndog,

The QB is a basket case. Everyone has made excuses for him and coddled him in the name of his development. And he has shat on everyone who believed his hype.

Coach knows his QB has thin skin and most people either want him to succeed or get the hell out. You can’t suck and keep saying I gotta fix things. How does a veteran QB not know timing on a motion play at this motherf-ing point in his career? He indirectly said that he ran the thinking play that was called because that was the play given to him. Has he watched Peyton Manning play or Tom Brady (audible)? I mean that’s my bar for my QB. Yours seems to be gee he’s not the only problem. That’s not good enough.

Did you see Winston’s reaction on the hot potato that almost turned into a turnover near his endzone? He exhaled like oh my lord i dodged a bullet. Guy has 0 confidence at this point. He doesn’t even know which Jameis is going to show up. Lol. That’s how inconsistent a number 1 draft pick has played for us.

I don’t expect him to be Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, who actually turn nobody’s into household names, but I will not settle for a QB still making rookie mistakes.

  21. lambchop Says:

    …he ran the running play…

  22. Bangkok Buc Says:

I’m not a huge NCAA fan but it sounds like I should start watching QBs on the following teams:

    Oregon
    LSU
    Georgia

Any others for our top 10pick?

  23. Jim Says:

Last year Ira said draft a QB in the 3rd round. Nobody at One Buc listened.

  24. lambchop Says:

I would like someone to answer what has changed from Jameis in year 1 to now? I see the same inconsistent player.

Jameis is a talented guy physically with no grasp or aptitude for the mental game of football. He’s getting crushed out there cuz he’s playing checkers while everyone else is playing chess (his contemporaries).

  25. I’m a Tandyman used to be Bucs Fan Says:

Bucs need to try what Titans did today!! Bench their Starting Quarterback and started Tannehill and won! Start Griffin next week and sit Winstons Ass he is not going to change !

  26. MadMax Says:

JW and Leftwich…..both top ten busts

And i dont like saying that….is what it is…hell, im sure a playstation madden player could be more creative and find some O plays that work better….UNREAL!

BA, get your sh!!t together and realize whats in front of you! We’re tanking for the draft my friend….or take a fkn hike!!!!! Its over dude….and if you’re over it and dont want to be involved in the rebuild GTFO!!!!!!! GO

    Ndog – ROFLMAO

You do realize no matter what Godwin’s route was or wasn’t on the last INT of the game, he’d have to have been 10-feet tall to catch that overthrow.

  30. Ricky Says:

    Good article Joe.

  31. Little Bo Peep 🤡❗️ Says:

So Joe just told me that if Old Senile Coach cleans up Mr. Turnover Machine, The Yucks could win 🤡❓7 Games at the end of the 2018 NFL Regular Season. That’s 7-9 at best or 6-10 ❗️Let’s see, The Bucs go The The Seahawks, and Winston chokes like a dog again and PESTO 😀❗️The Yucks loose again. That’s 2-6 at the half way point if the 2019 NFL Regular Season. The last 8 Games the Yucks Play Are Cardinals, Saints, Colts, Texans, Falcons at home. With the Falcons, Jaguars and Lions on the road. Now I’m gonna ask John Q Public this question❓How many games will The Tampa Bay Yucks be favorite vs these final 9 NFL teams via the Westgate Las Vegas Super Book ❓ONLY 3 TIMES ❗️That’s right Yucks Fans Slight Home Favorites vs. The Az. Cardinals on 11/10, and both games vs. The Atlanta Falcons 🤡❗️Looks like a 4-12 or 5-11 record at best🤡💰❗️Now I know the Great Ira Kaufman will agree with me 🤡❗️Maybe I will drive from Winter Park, Florida to buy Ira a Beer 🍺 during the last Yucks Road Game at Buffalo Wild Wings on December 15, 2015 when the Yucks gets boat raced by the Detroit Lions. Enjoy Trick or Tweet Thursday Night, Go Bucs! P.S. I forgot, I want to thank Joe Bucs Fan.com and The Great Ira Kaufman for the kind words after my comments Friday with Ira’s Article. Like I said then, QUOTE ❓”Do You Want To Spend Your Last 💲5️⃣.0️⃣0️⃣ On A Football Game With Jameis Winston As Your Quarterback 🤡❓”

  32. Dapostman Says:

Hahaha. Clearly Arians and we know Licht with a 5 year deal are in Winston’s corner. It would be easy for Arians to say it’s all Winston’s fault. Didn’t you watch the game? But the difference between an NFL HC and a Joebucsfan reader is about as big as it gets. As Jim Mora once said, “you think you know but you don’t really know and you probably won’t ever know.”

For you Florida educated simpletons that means what you see while watching isn’t really what was suppose to be. Meaning WR’s weren’t where they were supposed to be. Centers aren’t supposed to just snap the ball before everyone is ready. Tackles are suppose to pass block especially left tackles.

Bruce Arians is going to find out that he’s going to need 53 Jameis Winston’s.

  33. MadMax Says:

Jacob Eason or Burrow….then LT from Louisville (we’ll play him at RT) Mekhi Becton, 6’7, 360

  34. Aceofaerospace Says:

The best news I’ve heard today. Ndog is through with this site. Good riddance. Go suckle Jameis’ jock strap on some other site.

  35. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

What Wesley said. I would add that none of it will matter if the Glazers still own the team. At what point do they realize they are incompetent? Please sell the team. PLEASE!!!!!!!

  36. ClwJB Says:

It’s like watching Laurel and Hardy reruns every week

    Please make it stop already

We are actually just as bad if not worse than last year

    So much for real coaching….

    Time to start over again

  37. ElioT Says:

    Mountain of Money?

    Where that coming from?

Look, I’m horrible at math… so please excuse me if I’m way off base.

This situation is beyond f-ed up!

The Bucs have several contributing players that a good team would resign, but most of not all are on one year deals (like almost the entire D-Line and OLB crew) and I’m willing to bet they have zero interest in staying in Tampa unless they are wildly overpaid.

We’re staring down the barrel of an epic dumpster fire rebuild and I don’t think people really realize how bad it’s going to be.

There’s plenty of blame to go around but Jason “The Meatheaded Scout” Licht has blundered FAs and the draft so horribly over the past few years, I’m honestly not sure how they’ll recover.

It’s so depressing when you look at the facts folks. If even half of this idiots draft picks (or god forbid high dollar FAs) worked out to be quality starters, the Bucs would not be in this situation.

Jesus Christ, am I on crazy pills???

This franchise is totally screwed thanks in large part to Mr. #lichtmyb**ls.

Mr. Licht, you’re a disgrace and you should be run out of town tomorrow.

    My god.

  38. BucsBandit Says:

    Dapostman,

    You’re 100% right…

When Winston throws it into the chest of a D-Lineman who bobbles the ball and others almost come down with the INT, that didn’t really happen anyway… Jameis completed a beautiful pass to a WR who pitched the ball backwards, while simultaneously performing a magic trick to have it come from the front of the D-Lineman.

    Dude, seriously, STFU.

3 INTs (one that was dropped) were too high for a 10-foot tall WRs, let alone someone that “ran the wrong route.”

When the majority of NFL experts that talk about the game for a living (many formers players and former coaches) say that Winston sucks… well, Winston probably sucks.

  39. Bucs_Fan_Orlando Says:

    Matt Moore QBR 107.1

    I need more shots….

  40. ElioT Says:

    This isn’t Madden!

This franchise has been mismanaged so badly, the needs are the same year after year, this time it’s a new QB.

What FAs are going to stay here, yet alone come to Tampa for less than extreme overpayment?

Licht will fix it in the draft though, with the 27 picks the Bucs have in the first two rounds right?

Never felt more like a crack wh*re in my entire life.

    Damn this team!

  41. lambchop Says:

If I’m Mike Evans or Chris Godwin, I’m pissed at my head coach and tell him he’s full of sh:t. I mean our WRs have been consistently good. Dominating, actually. Jameis has been consistently soiling himself for years. Where has the HC called out his QB so vehemently EVER?

That’s one heck of a way to fracture that locker room and make our star players wish they could be traded.

Bruce Arians is full of it. That accountability chart is for everyone except coaches and the QB.

I lost all respect for BA. I hope he gets fired along with our GM cuz that’s not leadership.

  42. Dapostman Says:

Bandit, I don’t need you to tell me I’m right. I’ll listen to the NFL HC about the state of his team. You can listen to the talking heads who don’t know squat about this team. That’s why the Jim Mora quote is perfect for you because you think you know but don’t know squat.

  43. ElioT Says:

Yeah and believe Arians, he doesn’t lie.

    Remember the secondary is fixed!!!

Too bad there are no journalists in Tampa with the marbles to call bulls**t on this guy.

Don’t want to lose those precious credentials for the worst franchise in all of pro sports.

    Oh no!!!!

  44. Rayjay1122 Says:

I talked to my NOLA friends and the assured me that Who Dat nation has plenty of room for anyone so fed up with the Bucs that they want anew favorite team.

  45. ElioT Says:

I’ve been a true fan of this team since I can remember (over 30 years I think), and this is as hopeless as I’ve ever felt.

But like a true addict, I can’t put the pipe down.

Apathy isn’t even possible. It’s much worse.

  46. Jean Lafitte Says:

…and Jameis said weeeee!! …another Coach done gone

    Coach Killa

…Man I thought BA was going to explode like in that movie Scanners at his presser.

  47. Petty Officer Buc Says:

I’d rather die than root for the Aints

  48. Rayjay1122 Says:

I won’t ever totally divorce the Bucs but I am extremely angry at the Glazers and can’t ever be as big of a fan as in the past as long as they keep Gump in charge. Until there is hope again maybe sometime in the next 20 years, I will pull for the Saints.

  49. FortMyersDave Says:

good Scanners reference Jean! Seriously, I am getting a bit worried about BA, he could have the big one having to put up with all the ineptitude from his coaches and untalented roster…. Yep time to start the mock drafts, with the 6th pick in the 2020 NFL draft the Bucs select Jake Fromm QB UGA……..

  50. Rayjay1122 Says:

Think about it. Is there any other product in your life that could be so lousy that you would keep? Cell phone provider, vehicle make, grocery store, clothing and shoe brand, medical service, etc..

Any of those things would have been replaced long ago,if they failed your expectations the way the Bucs have. They can now consider themselves replaced.

  51. BrianBucs Says:

And here we all are again talking about the draft before Halloween again. Gets old, doesn’t it?
I’m afraid that it will be like this as long as the Glazers own this franchise.

  52. cmurda Says:

@Ndog. You’re not wrong about Jameis. I’m not that excited about how inconsistent Jameis has been but at least 3 of those turnovers were not the fault of Jameis. Both fumbles and the last pick, you can throw out the window. Jensen snaps it to Jameis’s facemask while not even ready, Donovan Smith pulled one of his typical lazy plays which resulted in the 2nd fumble and the last pick is desperation.

Arians is still a great coach. That hasn’t changed just because there is a lack of talent on this team. When a team finds themselves cap strapped but lacking on talent, particularly on defense, that means the GM is garbs. Licht needs to be fired. Absolutely needs to be fired. I don’t care how much of a love affair the Glazers have with him.

  53. WalkdaPlank Says:

This Jake Fromm talk is complete madness. Anyone who thinks he’s a first rounder clearly hasn’t watched him play.

  54. July Joe Says:

Arians flipped in his press conference and said neither INT was on Jameis at all and just blasted the receivers from running the wrong routes.

Why does Ndog and any fan with a brain believe what Arians said? Because Arians has no problem blasting anyone and never has. If those were bad throws by JW Arians would rip him and say it. They weren’t.

NONE of the turnovers were on Jameis today and to think Arians is going to sign off on breaking in a rookie QB next year is just crazy talk.

Jameis will be the starter in 2020 … and 2021 …. and 2022 … getcha popcorn ready!

By the way, if the Bucs don’t trade Jameis by Tuesday’s deadline, whichever Joe wrote this should admit he was wrong, as if Arians was just covering for Jameis and the INTs really were on him and Arians is up for drafting a rookie QB in 2020, there is no way the Bucs don’t trade Jameis for the best draft pick they can get for him by Tuesday and just tank the season and also give Ryan Griffin a shot to prove his value.

But NONE of the above will happen imho as Arians is still all-in on Jameis … as he should be!

  55. 941bucsfan Says:

At the end of the day, We need a real coach.. All you guys on this website told me that koetter was the issue. Yea, Bruce Arians looks as unprepared and clueless that you will ever see from a Professional Sports team. Not just football, but all of Professional Sports

  56. Pete I Says:

    Winston 23-38

“Jameis will be the starter in 2020 … and 2021 …. and 2022 … getcha popcorn ready!”

And the Bucs will be losers in 2020…and2021…and 2022 …

The NFC South will be happy.

  57. Defense Rules Says:

cmurda … “Arians is still a great coach. That hasn’t changed just because there is a lack of talent on this team. When a team finds themselves cap strapped but lacking on talent, particularly on defense, that means the GM is garbs. Licht needs to be fired.”

Have found over too many years that nothing’s ever as bad as it seems OR as good as it seems. The REAL situation is almost always someplace in-between. I too think that Arians is a great coach, BUT … he’s NOT making the necessary (or best) decisions right now. He’s the HEAD COACH; he’s allowing far too many mistakes to keep recurring, over & over & over again. THAT’S UNACCEPTABLE IMO.

On the defensive side, I’m personally very impressed with Todd Bowles. Admittedly I can’t figure out why he keeps VHIII out there instead of playing Jamel Dean or Ryan Smith, but he MUST have his reasons I guess. And I also can’t figure out what happened to Mike Edwards. He hasn’t played in the last 2 games (he must be hurt is all I can figure). Other than that, this defense is improving & that’s a good thing.

On the special teams side, things seem to also be improving. Matt Gay has recovered nicely from the Giants’ debacle & has now made 14-of-16 FGs (87.5%), including 3-of-3 from beyond 50 yds. That’s awesome IMO. Bradley Pinion’s settled in as our punter, and TJ Logan looked quite good yesterday as our punt return guy.

Our offense IMO is an absolute disaster. Sporadic as all git-out … feast or famine. This is essentially the SAME OFFENSE that Dirk Koetter had to work with, except for replacing DJax & Humphries with Perriman & Miller (2 wasted replacements) AND replacing Benenoch with Watford/Cappa (not that much of an upgrade?).

The difference this year is our new OC, Byron Leftwich and a new offensive coaching staff. Turnovers are out of control (17 in just 7 games). We’re now #1 in the NFL in TOs per game at 2.43 (tied with the Browns, yippee). That’s disastrous … the Top-6 teams in Giveaways (Giants, Browns, Bucs, Jets, Falcons, Bengals) have a combined 8 wins & 37 losses. Coincidence? Not hardly. But a large part of turnovers is on coaching IMO … play design & play selection. THAT MUST BE FIXED. And fast or this season really will go down the tubes.

    You are delusional man
You think coach lays into everyone but Jameis cause Jameis is the only one playing good ball

Spoken like a true FSU buccaneer.
10 turnover in 2 games. . Yah . He is a rock star.
    But those weren’t his fault.

14 tds to 18 turnovers this year. I’m guessing he leads the league again in turnovers. And overall turnovers since 2015. But again ..none of those are his fault.

    😂

Chase Young and build a defefense and then go get a veteran cheap qb, mike glennon, bridgewater, joe flacco, some game manager.. fire sale this week…send JPP to the texans for a #1, send suh to the eagles for a 2…trade jameis to the bears for a #1 and #2 and tribusky…start over

  68. Sharthappens Says:

From NFL.com site. JW ranks 33. And there is only 32 teams. Blame the OLine, the DBs, the DLine, the coaching… it all comes back to the terrible play by the QB. I now hope he plays the entire season since this will clinch a top five pick in next years draft.

  69. I’m a Tandyman used to be Bucs Fan Says:

Like your thoughts Dusty but I like mine better!! If Bucs trade Jameis and their #4 pick for Teddy we got a Pro QB!! Then Drew retires and the Saints start Hill and Jameis backs him up the Yucs got a chance to win NFC South because Koetter is with Atlanta and Cam wears scarfs!!!

Dapostman, so for this simpleton. In your obliviously superior educated knowledge can you decipher what was supposed to be. Was the passes from our QB supposed to be hitting receivers in stride, supposed to be thrown into a space they can catch, were passes supposed to be on time? He has hit several opponents in their hands the last several games. Was that a supposed to be also? Did our QB not admit he forgot the “snap count” on the snap that hit him in the facemask? For this simpleton is this not supposed to be his responsibility? By having firsthand personal knowledge of that snap count? He was supposed to be in the huddle and supposed to called the play, but forgot the snap count. Did we miss seeing him not being in the huddle? This is year five for this QB!

I get that we have other issues, and we have a few players who need to find themselves new homes. I just am not sure we are placing the blame equally among everyone who is at fault.
Sadly we are all still “waiting for it” all to come together. Maybe with all that superior educational knowledge you have you can help make it happen. I will be waiting.
SHOW ME! Do not tell us anything. SHOW US!
    GO! BUCS!

Jameis Winston is giving the ball away like it’s mini-Snickers to trick-or-treaters

Idiot that’s because your telling people he had 4 interceptions. Dont understand how that’s the first thing mentioned. That’s because you feed the nonsense, I’m not defending winston here he has been average which ain’t good enough for a first overall pick but blaming him for every turnover. Media can say whatever they want and dont have to correct themselves at all, why do writers have to have integrity cuz that doesnt sell.

Does anyone really trust Licht to make the right decisions on draft day? I sure don’t.

So Joe, considering Tua and Burrow are gonna go 1 and 2 to Miami and Cincy what QB do you want us to take next year? Or would you prefer us to take an FA vet like a Rivers and hope we land a good prospect in 2021?

  78. July Joe Says:

A 2x Super Bowl champ and 2x NFL Coach of the Year STILL believes in Jameis Winston and wants him as his QB1 … but yeah, let’s listen to the anonymous IDIOTS on this board that would have rather had Josh Rosen and Dwyane Haskins, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA … IDIOTS!!!! HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
