Gameday Tampa Bay

October 27th, 2019

Game 7

Bucs (2-4) at Titans (3-4)

Kickoff: 1 p.m.

TV: WTVT-TV Channel 13, NFL Sunday Ticket Channel 713.

Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network WXTB-FM 97.9 in the Tampa-St. Petersburg region; 97.9 FM ESPN Radio in Tallahassee (Transmisiones de radio en español en WTMP-FM 96.1 y WMGG-AM 1470 en Tampa); SiriusXM Channel 146.

Weather: Really good football weather. Per AccuWeather.com, tailgaters will wake up to temperatures in the low-mid 60s. At kickoff expect a temperature of 65 that will gradually climb to 68 and is expected to drop just a tick to 67 by game’s end. All under partly sunny skies.

Odds: Per the Mirage in Las Vegas, Titans -2.5; O/U 45.5.

Outlook: In Joe’s eyes, this game is a crossroads for the season for the Bucs. With the trade deadline looming Tuesday afternoon, this outcome should decide if the Bucs are buyers or sellers by Tuesday. If the Bucs win, they have a shot at a wild card. Chances aren’t great but they have a shot. Lose, and Joe just cannot see this team making a run with a 2-5 record. Just to reach 8-8 the Bucs would have finish out with no less than a 6-3 record. Does this look like a team that could accomplish this? And that is just to get the team to an 8-8 mark. If the Bucs lose today to have a prayer the way the NFC is going, the Bucs likely would have to close the season with a 7-2 clip. That would be a stretch to be polite. At least, how the team is currently constructed it would be a major accomplishment. So yes, today is a must-win. Beat the Titans and then go shopping for a starting corner, maybe another offensive lineman. Lose today, and the Bucs should not have any starter on a one-year contract come Tuesday night. Yes, Joe understands that means goodbye to Ndamukong Suh and Shaq Barrett. Joe cannot picture Suh returning (though it would be nice). Barrett is likely to hit free agency. If you were Barrett, wouldn’t you want to play for a winner and get paid?. For the Bucs to win this game, they just need to do what they are doing with the run defense and hope the secondary doesn’t extend the hex backup quarterbacks have on this team. If the Bucs can keep Tannehill in check and shut down Derrick Henry, the Bucs should win this game.

So 85% of peeps in the football pool I’m in every week picked the Bucs over the Titans…

They NEVER take the Bucs…so there’s that.

Me? I took the Bucs. Prolly lose on that alone… whatever..

    Go Bucs!!!

  2. TampaTown Says:

Have no fear. Thank the Lawd Ira has picked the Bucs to lose and will continue to do so moving forward so that he will not jinx the Bucs in any way. That’s the best news we could ever get!

  3. Tye Says:

The Bucs opponents this season all scored 30+ points (but the Panthers 1st games but their qb was injured) and the Bucs have a bad habit of losing to backups so I predict they score at least 31..

The Titans haven’t given up an average of 16 points this season so maybe the Bucs get 17…

    Titans 31
    Bucs 17

  4. TampaTown Says:

Wait… what’s up with the weather report? What game us being played overseas in London?

  5. BucsBandit Says:

Jameis will probably have a good game to once again fool so much of the fan base into thinking he should be resigned.

    Winston needs a new nickname… “Fool’s Gold.”

There is a chance of showers near the end of the first quarter.

London? I think Joe is “Tennessee Ready”

  7. Joe Says:

Good catch. London wasn’t deleted. The first link is Nashville.

  8. SB Says:

Until we do something about our OL, which I don’t think we can.
And until we get a Competent starting CB, which I don’t think we will when we can.
I can not pick us to win a game like this. Good Defense for Tenn vs Poor Pass D for TB.
It all leads to a TB loss to me. Hope I am wrong but I am taking Tennessee.
Only GODWIN can save us maybe but that all depends on Jameis not getting Maimed…

  9. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

If they really did hardcore film study BA thinks we will win as do I

  10. richbucsfan Says:

This game is the precursor to the Bucs fire sale.

  11. BigHog Says:

To get this win, pounding the rock will have to be a key component of the game plan, a continuous pounding is what it will take, moving the chain efficiently and effectively, taking a shot at the long pass at least three times this game, but counting more on Godwin and the Tight ends to open this offensive attack up today !! LETS TOW THE LINE…DOMINATE AND BUST SOME ASS. GO TEAM BUCS!!!

  12. Defense Rules Says:

So far this season the Titans have beaten the 2-4 Browns, the 1-6 Falcons and the 2-5 Chargers. They’ve lost to the 4-2 Colts, the 3-4 Jaguars, the 5-1 Bills and the 2-5 Broncos. IOW they lost to the 2 teams they’ve played with winning records and beaten 3 of the 5 teams they’ve played with losing records. THE BUCS CAN BEAT THESE GUYS, but it’ll take Jameis having a very good game PLUS a strong defensive effort.

Tannehill’s been on fire these last 2 games, completing 80% of his passes (36-for-45) since relieving Mariota in Game 6. But his game is to pick you apart with short stuff, and he has a decent running game to keep defenses honest & off-balance. Bucs either play aggressive today to stop both or we’ll be toast.

Jameis is the key today IMO. Tennessee’s defense is really good, and Jameis all too often plays lousy against strong defenses. And especially when i comes to turnovers. IF he can minimize that & just take what the defense gives him we’ve got a chance. HOPEFULLY our illustrious OC has learned in this Bye week how to gameplan & playcall to keep Jameis under control. And ya, HOPEFULLY our OLine decides to make the trip to Nashville and play like they’re paid to play.

I’m just thinking about next year’s draft.

  14. Bucnjim Says:

Here is what will happen: Winston protects the ball & we run with success and win the game. Everyone Jumps back onto the Winston band wagon until we play the Seahawks.

  15. Dirkdiggler Says:

This a lose. Backup QB nuff said.

  16. MadMax Says:

Im beaten down already….bucs have beat me….they’re probably going 2-5 and the shakeup that shouldve already been happening at qb will finally commence (as well as at other positions).

We’re almost at the cap with high dollar players not earning their salary….plus some players on their final year at rookie pay who are not worth even that.

Its time to clean house, make some trades, pick up some extra draft picks….a great crop of QB’s and WR’s coming out (we have our #1 in Godwin already).

Hope im wrong but im probably not….its another backup qb….ah well, be back at 1pm as the sh!!t show commences….
