Bye-Bye Bobo

October 15th, 2019

Bye-bye.

Boo-boos make Bobo go bye-bye.

Bobo Wilson is a Bucs wide receiver no more. Per Greg Auman of The Athletic, the Bucs released two players today, Wilson and linebacker Devante Bond.

Bobo’s boo-boos caught up with him especially goofing up a punt twice. Though he was targeted nine times in the past three weeks (why!?), Bobo was pretty much a non-factor as a receiver.

He was virtually invisible as a punt returner. Bobo had the second-worst punt return average in the NFL.

News that Bond got released is a bit of a surprise. A solid special teams guy and perhaps the best tackler on the team, Bond seemed like a valuable reserve. He was certainly one of the smartest guys in the room.

Bobo going bye-bye is not a shock. Bond getting bounced is rather surprising.

Joe surely hopes the release of Bobo doesn’t mean Scotty Miller will get more targets.

    There’s a god

  2. Mikadeemas Says:

Bond won’t be unemployed long. Hopefully he doesn’t sign with NFC South, but……….GO BUCS!!

  3. Thunder_Sack Says:

I never saw Bobo do anything to warrant a place on the team. Mediocre at best.

Bond seemed to be thriving at his position with the change of the defense during the preseason. That sucks.

Could they be making room for a trade???

  4. Jeffbuc Says:

Marcus Peters traded for a back up linebacker and 2020 6th round pick. What the hell licht

  5. D-Rome Says:

Bond is a good player. Maybe not a starter but my goodness there are 53 roster spots. You need good backup players.

  6. Figures Says:

    Told everyone he sucks.

Who was it that was yapping last week at me saying “I wanna see what he’s got. He has talent. He needs more reps” yada yada yada.

Paleeesssee. Now get rid of Licht too.

Tells me a practice squad raid is on ….

  8. Go Bucs 72 Says:

One spot for JPP and one spot for Pat P?

  9. Figures Says:

    Don’t understand letting Bond go.

That’s strange. He was good depth.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Accountability……Bobo Gone….

And, Joe….what is this campaign vs. Scotty Miller?….He is a rookie 6th round pick subbing for an injured player…..you are overly critical IMO.

I hope he balls out and becomes an absolute star…..”America’s WR”

  11. Dreghost Says:

If the football Gods would just grant us Pat P. And bring back Jpp in good form i could definitely see us as a playoff team

  12. Jean Lafitte Says:

a bye week message from BA?

sh|t or get off the pot

  13. Smashsquatch Says:

Bobo’s release was long overdue. Low ceiling low floor player.

  14. Lunchbox Says:

Jeffbuc-my sentiments exactly. How is it that we see these other teams get these great trades, like the Marcus Peters trade? Does Licht not see that Peters was available? Could not something have been done? For ARGUABLY OUR WEAKEST POSITION GROUP??? Among all of our weaknesses, and there are many, Licht is leading the pack.

  15. Lamarcus Says:

Bye bye Bond. Best tackler? He can’t even get into position to make the tackle

  16. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Wow Jeffbuc!!! That makes me wanna hurl too! Bobo had to gogo! Bind is a head scratcher! Now go get Peterson or Ramsey STAT!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. mike10 Says:

What’s Licht’s Win Loss record? Over, what, like 5 years?!

You want to talk about floors and ceilings.. it’s getting dark down here in the basement.

  18. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

There has definitely been a learning curve for this team took BA a few games in Arizona

  19. mark2001 Says:

Who ever thought this guy was worth a squat as a pro football player? He must have been brought in because he was part of an over rated football team. When the guy proved he was jello on ST’s, it was all over.

  20. ElioT Says:

TJ Logan still occupies a roster spot as a KR, and we know what a great value that is to the team.

Bozo Wilson deserved the cut, Bond hasn’t done anything and looked like a small LB/big safety.

Btw: Bond, another stellar draft pick by #lichtmyb**ls. I’d love to have the time to research what productive players the Bucs passed on to draft this non-factor.

Go Licht!! – You’re crushing it bro! Best GM in the Business!

  21. DaBux Says:

    There goes Jameis security blanket.

  22. Colorado Says:

Couldn’t get Marcus Peters, Licht? For Bond and a 5th rounder even?

  23. Jean Lafitte Says:

Maybe there’s some validity to this?

We Londoners will often are our soccer players out for a bit of post game partying after a successful match. But this is only after a win and not before the match. With that being said the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has several players out partying in London on Saturday evening, into the early morning hours. We have not seen this from other NFL teams in the past or they quite possibly flew under the radar. Case in Point: I heard from several people at and after them game that Jameis Winston and this Bobo bloke were out having a good time well into Sunday morning. Is this acceptable to NFL clubs? They also played very poorly

Joe has looked at the IP address of this comment and it is California, therefore, Joe is highly skeptical.–Joe

  24. Jean Lafitte Says:

Maybe that was why Bobo was released after BA was just throwing cover for Bobo after the game

  25. Colorado Says:

ElioT Devante Bond was a 6th round pick. We passed on no one good in the draft for him. Just a whole lot of free agents, backups, and future/current XFL players.

Could have gotten Brian Poole or Cory Littleton after the draft, though. But the same can be said of 31 other teams and hindsight is key.

  26. Sport Says:

    Accountability at its finest.

Can you guys give our coaches and rookies longer than 15 mins before you evaluate? Damn…

There’s a reason Mayocks Mock Draft meant something. Because he prepared all year for it and kept his mouth shut until his presser.

    In BA I Trust!

  27. Frank Pillow Says:

Had to be done. Need more accountability on this team. Let’s hope this is more than symbolic and that there’s really, truly, a higher standard than previous regimes’

  28. Defense Rules Says:

Waving bye-bye to Bobo Wilson isn’t hard at all, but cutting Devonte Bond make zero sense. especially after Cichy got injured and we just released Bucannon. That leaves us with LVD & White as starting ILBs, plus Minter & Dawkins as depth, plus only Barrett, Nassib & Nelson as OLBs. Of course we do have 6 DLinemen, with JPP also coming onboard shortly (hopefully). Still, that takes us down to only 23 defense (including JPP), and Cichy’s hurt. Overall we’re down to 51 players; 52 when JPP gets activated.

Maybe SOMETHING good is about to happen … time will tell.

  29. gotbbucs Says:

I love these transactions. You mean to tell me that they didn’t know that he was useless before this last game?
We have Sluggo at Offensive Coordinator, when is that mistake going to be rectified? We have Josh Freema… .Jameis Winston at QB, he much longer does that train wreck have to continue before all the cars behind that Little Engine that Cant finally come to rest?
    Bobo Wilson is a microcosm.

  30. Kgh4life Says:

    @Jeffbuc

I realize the Bucs are struggling at the CB position at the moment, however, Marcus Peters is not a difference maker. He usually gives up big plays, see Mike Evans wk 4. He’s not the corner he once was, and he’s more of a zone corner.

  31. JimmyJack Says:

Jean Dangit……Thanks for sharing & that kind of speculation really rubs me the wrong way.

We fans are helpless for accurate info. That post prompted me to try to go back and listen to an old 620 podcast from last week where a caller was talking about something similar. Really wish I would of went back and listened to it earlier cause I didnt catch the conversation and don’t know if they were talking about current Buc players it was just a dumb comment with no truth.

For some reason 620 don’t have a podcast from that day up but it was either Monday the 7th or Tuesday the 8th at around the 4:00 hour on the Ron and Ian show. And don’t worry Ron was not or air that day so it’s bearable to listen to. If anyone can find them episode help me find it.

Honestly if stories like that we’re proven true it this team would be much less confusing.

  32. Mike Johnson Says:

Jean Lafitte..you are on to something here my man. Coverup city baby.

  33. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Boo Boo was only here this long because he was Jay Miss’s buddy.

  34. Buc4evr Says:

Guess they are making room for JPP and Cichy to return. Can JPP return punts ? Lol.

  35. DooshLaRue Says:

    In Buc related news:

DL Michael Bennett was suspended for one game by the Patriots.

Sources say, it was for no good reason.

  36. Buccaneerscotty Says:

Two mistakes? Then Winston should have been dumped in his 1st game ! 1st on 1st game in NFL look like 1st play 5 yes later what a joke!

  37. Tbbucs3 Says:

The same Jason Licht cycle continues……

Again and again and again and again…..it’s almost commical at this point.

When will the Glazers realize that our GMs evaluations are not up to NFL standard?

  38. Tbbucs3 Says:

I could’ve told you Bobo wouldn’t last after 1 hard knocks episode

  39. Bob in Valrico Says:

BoBo cut . Next man up to be cut, if TJ comes out of the endzone and loses 15
    yards of field position.

  40. gilhealy Says:

Let’s get Watson on the field.

  41. lewis Says:

wow another fall guy that has to cover up for our general manager and JW

  42. lewis Says:

    JW is a embarrassment

  43. adam from ny Says:

yeah bruce and company cut these guys as i mentioned, to deflect attention away from their failures….you knew bobo was gone…but you knew a head scratcher would also be hung out to dry, to confuse the fan base – as if it’s not on the coaching staff…

coaches have a group of “fall guy players” built into their rosters…and arians has built in fall guy staff members as well – that’s why he created such a huge staff…arians has a failsafe plan to last here with licht 2-3 years no matter how bad the team plays…goal number one is for he and his guys to last a few years and milk huge paychecks

  44. UKbuc Says:

I guess the late night, prior to game day, caught up with him.

  45. Christopher Schiefen Says:

Finally we might have a third receiver if they actually let him play (Watson).

  46. lowercaseg Says:

    His name should be DoDo

  47. JimmyJack Says:

UKbuc…..Which establishment are you claiming Bucs players were partying at the night before the game?

  48. NPRSageBoy Says:

Release Scotty Miller now and save all of us the aggravation. Release JayMiss and we hold a parade down Dale Mabry.

  49. jjbucfan Says:

Nw the Rams trade for Austin Corbett, a second rounder in 2018 that played in 14 games for the Browns. He can play guard or center. Nah… we’re good on O-line. WTF????

  50. MadMax Says:

Need to re kick the tires on that other WR we let go….forgot his name, schnell i think.

  51. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Release Jason Licht

  52. DooshLaRue Says:

Schnell is correct Max and he looked decent.

  53. ElioT Says:

Who wants to contribute to a “Go Fund Me” account to plaster billboards all over Tampa to get of the worst GM in all pro sports?

I’m standing by, so is my expert graphic designer. I’ll gladly work out the logistics.

This idiot must be launched and if Arians is so loyal, he can pound sand too

So sick and tired of this garbage.

Jason, you’re horrible at your job, your scouting staff blows and y’all need to go ASAP!

  54. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bucs worked our 6 players today….3 were LBs…

    Keishawn Bierria
    Robert McCray
    Kyle Wilson

Perhaps one of them will replace Bond…..

Let’s hope TJ Logan has been getting a lot of reps at PR……

Or, Maybe Joe’s favorite Scotty Miller will return a punt for a TD vs Tenn….

  55. Clean House Says:

Jason Licht should have known what he had, it was obvious to all how weak the team is in secondary and O Line, the guy has no clue and no plan and he should hve been immediately fired rather than. Extended. The Glazers and this whole team have their head up their ass.

  56. ElioT Says:

It the Bucs enter the November 10th game at 2-6, the home crowd’s (if there is any) chants should be this:

    “Lichtmyb**ls!”
    “Lichtmyb**ls!”

    Etc.

Screw this dude and his abysmal “management” of this team.

Go back to being a self-professed “meathead scout” that’s all you ever going to be.

Check out Morgan Freeman’s reprimand to Denzel Washington in the movie Glory.

  57. TampaTown Says:

Don’t understand Justin Watson’s lack of playing time. I know he had drops in camp but give him a second chance. Why not active Tanner Hudson and let him play Humphries old spot. He has great hands

  58. jjbucfan Says:

So Jags trading Ramsey to Rams- F Jason Licht… that is all

  59. Colorado Says:

jjbucfan two 1st round picks and a 4th round pick is an absurd price to pay.

  60. Cgmaster27 Says:

@jjbucs ramsey was traded for 2 firsts next year and a secind in 2021. We dont even have that draft capital to trade. And secondly that is a massive haul for a db and we arent in position to make a trade like that.

  61. DooshLaRue Says:

    Elliot

    His name is pronounced “light”
So are you saying “light my balls”?
    Like on fire?

    Kinky

  62. DooshLaRue Says:

Screw Ramsey and those picks…. that’s just ridiculous for that turd.

  63. Tampabaybucfan Says:

So….I guess we can be happy that Licht didn’t give up 2 1sts & a 4th for Ramsey.

That is a very high price…..

  64. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Tbbf

I can’t be happy because our next two 1st round picks are likely to be Jason Licht bust.

  65. JimmyJack Says:

I guess we can conclude that UK is full of crap. If you are going to make a outragous claim like that then have the decency to expect a reply and answer for yourself.

We can also pretty much conclude that Eliot either really needs to get laid or has some real personal issues if he is at all serious which I doubt.

  66. Noel Bello Says:

Joe, I know this is how you make a living, bit you are perpetuating the issue, by selling this guy as America’s quarterback, funny the first time, unimaginative every time since.

  67. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I think what we have here is “Jason Licht Derangement Syndrome”…..we are calling players “busts” after two games…….he is to blame for much but not all of his draft picks are busts…
If you are telling me that our last two 1st round picks or even our last 3
White, Vea, Howard are busts….then you are suffering from JLDS……

  68. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    JimmyJack

I agree that the post regarding the partying by Winston and Wilson in London was despicable……this is one of the problems with anonymous posts…..

Thank Joe for sniffing this out for us….hopefully he will ban that poster….

  69. MadMax Says:

Well then….yeah, Ramsey costed way too much…glad we passed

  70. ElBajito43 Says:

Im just here to see if I get my comment Mod-er a- ted.

  71. jjbucfan Says:

Yes ramsey is a high price to to pay- the fact is the Rams were willing to pay it. Last year they paid for Talib, Fowler, Peters and went to the Super Bowl. We are standing pat with our thumbs up our rears. Honestly, I’m more upset about Austin Corbett. We need O-lineman. What happens if Jensen goes down? Marpet back to Center?

  72. Old Sombrero Says:

Chew on this…statistically speaking Blake Bortles and Jameis are mirror images. Bortles is terrible – a backup now. But he at least brought them to the AFC championships in 2017. Something Jameis will never accomplish. In many ways the Jags are a mirror image of the Bucs with a few major differences. One is Tom Coughlin. He knows football and is involved with operations since 2016. We have nobody assisting the Glazers. To my point they traded Ramsey to the Rams for two first round picks. That’s a smart move. Don’t need him so dump him in exchange for a valuable return. IMO if the Bucs are dumb enough to trade for a CB now when playoffs are not going to happen and loose even more ground in draft picks I’m probably going to sign off as a fan. If anything trade away O.J for picks. Prob get a decent pick. We have Brate.

  73. lambchop Says:

Get Justin Watson on the damn field! Scotty Miller is a joke.

  74. BigHog Says:

These BUCS fans are a hoot …like Trump Riast they spread all this horse manure around with no proof….pull for your team or find another, these guys are grown as men. They know what they are risking better than you! Our job i scream GO BUCS !!!

  75. jjbucfan Says:

We need O-lineman. If Jameis is gone and we draft another QB, who are we gonna draft? Tua? Burrows? Herbert? They will all get killed behind this line. So all you JW haters will get your wish and then you can complain about the next FSU guy we may have on our team. None of these guys survive the hits Winston is taking.

  76. Colin in Canada Says:

    “Boo-boos make Bobo go bye-bye.”

I’ve been reading this site a long time and that has to be the best opening line I’ve seen. Keep up the good work Joes.

  77. JimmyJack Says:

TBBF…..I genuinely do fear we have problems on this team like that. Going out there and playing games like we did Sunday really makes me question how the team prepars for games.

So I don’t take comments like that lightly.

It’s hard to put any stock into any JBF poster knowing anything like that but I have seen posters before say stuff that sounded like pure hogwash then later the things they say actually turn out as true.

Ya never know who if a poster is being honest or just a crazy on the internet…….My favorite was the guy last year claiming Dirk had a mole within the orginazation spyed on players. I got a kick out that guy.

  78. Jmarkbuc Says:

That’s why we draft anything and everything but a QB.

I would deal with a cheap journeyman, or 5th round rookie, if we were using our resources on building the rest of a real team.

  79. FireJasonLicht Says:

Yesssss finally some good news!!! Buh Bye BoBo!!!

  80. DayOnePaul Says:

    PLAYOFFS?!?!?!?!?!

  81. BucTooth Says:

    DayOnePaul Playoffs your talking playoffs?

  82. Brandon Says:

Bobo sucked and should have never made any Bucs team. Every FSU product we’ve had since Brooks and Jackson were drafted were soft and not nearly as athletic as FSU homers advertise. Just because these bums make plays against Duke and Wake Forest, doesn’t mean they can play on Sundays.

  83. DalvinCookRules Says:

Brandon that is as ignorant a comment as has ever been made on any message board. EVER.

Just because the Bucs are good at finding the bad FSU players, the conclusion that FSU only produces bad players does not logically follow. Here are just a few recent counter examples: Jalen Ramsey, Dalvin Cook, Telvin Smith, Derwin James, Davonta Freeman, Xavier Rhodes, Brian Burns– just pick any two of those players and it would completely turn this Bucs franchise around

  84. Rob Tanner Says:

Bye-Buh just like two of your returns… maybe jameis will through to others that he didn’t goto school with. #SmartMove
