Where Was Aaron Donald?

September 29th, 2019

Contained.

Quick, anyone see Aaron Donald? Maybe someone should call his family.

The guy who will someday have his bust in Canton was nullified today by a Bucs offensive line many Bucs fans wanted disbanded. So lost in the drama of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, having a four-touchdown day and Shaq Barrett getting another sack and collecting a pick, the Bucs offensive did a strong job containing the best defensive tackle in the game.

Joe asked Bucs center Ryan Jensen how he and his teammates up front contained the monster that is Donald.

“We played good football,” Jensen said. “We played with sound technique and things came out on top.”

Joe wasn’t buying the aw-shucks routine by Jensen. Joe asked Jensen that even guys playing sound technique get worked over by Donald. So what was the secret today?

“He’s one of those guys you have to contain,” Jensen said of Donald. “You don’t really stop a guy like that. You just have to contain him and I thought we did a pretty good job of containing him.”

How good was it? Donald, a true beast, had one tackle and three assists, including a sack and a tackle for loss. For some defensive tackles, that’s a helluva game. And statistically, it’s about as good as Donald has been all season. But overall he was underwhelming.

The Bucs offensive line got the job done. Well done!

I was reading some Rams blog because it’s fun to laugh at people, and anyways, you had a bunch of morons there whining about Donald like the people here would whine about McCoy. The same things, saying he’s soft, he’s not worth the money, he doesn’t show-up when it matters, etc. Made me laugh.

Best O-Line play in as many years as I’ve seen…..Cappa really shined

Thanks Rod, I’ll have to check out the Ram fans whine-athon.

  5. Miller5252 Says:

2 o linemen questionable to even play today and 1 of the Bucs lineman had a hit that you haven’t seen in football for a long time! Those guys up front deserve a bunch of credit today! Heck of a game in the trenches for a group that everyone said was over paid and was going to be a weak point for the team.

  9. YoungBucs Says:

Guess what? You know who did show up, with a fumble recovery for six?You Know that guy that takes supposedly plays off Suh HA HA HA!

  10. YoungBucs Says:

Ahhh so refreshing that a REAL MAN on is the D-line, not Dressing in Kimonos playing with batnman dolls complaining & crying time to WIN!!!

  11. BUCLUV55 Says:

Big Don Smith with the hit of the year!

  12. Mike in LOL Says:

This team looks extremely physical on both sides of the ball… love it!!!

  13. DB55 Says:

Suh is the best DT in the league bar none.

  14. July Joe Says:

Donald blew through the O-Line early in the game and thought he had an easy sack on Jameis … Jameis shrugged him off like a flea, the same way he did to Khalil Mack … and Donald was never heard from again.

PAY JAMEIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE’S WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY BETTER THAN JARED GOFF who looks like a scared little kid playing and misses dudes who are WIDE OPEN!

  15. Buczilla Says:

    Cappa looks like a keeper.

  16. DB55 Says:

FYI- McIceCream didn’t even make the stat sheet yet AGAIN

  17. SOEbuc Says:

Cappa is really holding his own at RG. Only get better. A deep, dark hole filled.

  18. Adrnagy Says:

Donald was at the game. He was there to collect his paycheck. Not sure if he played. I was at the game and don’t recall hearing his name.

  19. Adrnagy Says:

Bruce was right at his conference.. Bucs play better on the road.

I agree 100% because of the REAL fans ! Losing or winning we ballin. Here in LA all Bucs fans where On fire. When I go to Tampa. Lame quiet. I’ll stand up to cheer yell and the “Bucs” fans behind get mad. Sitting down quiet.

  20. PriMech54 Says:

The interior of this o-line might be elite at this point, I’m still trying to determine that but those 3 are definitely some road graders and are gelling incredibly so far

    Marpet, Jensen, Cappa

    “the mean boys”

  21. JimbobBucsFan Says:

With Cappa emerging as a capable right guard look at the coaching job Joe Gilbert is doing.  Kudos to our offensive line in this game.

Also look at the coaching job Harold Goodwin is doing with our running backs.

Finally, give credit to Leftwich as an emerging OC in the league.

How is it you seem to forget you’re the ones writing all three negative articles about the roster especially the o line and also where the pass rush will come from then forget your panic. They won a game you said they had zero chance of winning. Stop making fun of the team all week then pretending as if its the fans who are driving you’re opinions

  25. KingBuc17 Says:

In China and our game wasn’t on 365 sports….. Sucks BUT WOW, great job O-line. So proud to have faith in this team and the building blocks we are forming to be a winning franchise for the next ten years… I love the fact through it all, horrible schedule, 1.5% chance of winning @LAXRams, gut wrenching loss last week, our leader held our team composure together and our Bucs squad just pummeled the NFC Champs. Most points in team history on that D with Donald and Peters? Holy Sugar, this can do wonders for our confidence. Let’s just keep playing our game… Love the Hot hands committee @ RB and Evans, God…win and Brate/OJ best corps in NFL right now. Stud at each level on D, Shaq, David, and Whitehead. We don’t even have our best defensive player on the field yet.. come on JPP…. get in football shape

  26. teacherman777 Says:

    I apologize to Cappa.

    He’s the man now!

    Love you dogg!

  27. D1 Says:

    King,

Have you ever tried going to a hotel to watch the game? It depends on the city and the hotels . But I was more often than not able to find a spot to catch the game .

  28. richbucsfan Says:

Have to say I was wrong about the Bucs yesterday. The O-line was indeed impressive. Marpet took care of Donald as did Cappa. It always helps to have the like of Suh in practice day in and day out. If they play like they did yesterday they will have a great ending. Like so many of you I am disgusted with the Bucs travel schedule. Hopefully, their youth will overcome jet lag.

  29. Delawest Says:

Yea us Cali bucs fans was loud and proud.
    CALIFORNIA LOVE!!!

  30. Tval Says:

Gotta give Licht credit on Cappa. He was a desperate need and filled with rookie contract

  31. JimbobBucsFan Says:

I’m in Tampa. So psyched I have not really slept. Tried to though. I’ll nap again later.

Hmmmmm. I wonder if Suh passed on some insights that were helpful concerning Donald and other guys on their DL.

We better beat Saints in this next one. Brees will be back for the November game. That one could be a dandy!

  32. Tommy Says:

Great job offensive line and hats off to byron leftwich

  33. Bucsfanman Says:

BTW, where’s all the “forfeit the game” “fans” this morning?! Guess that’s why they play the game, huh?!
    Anyone can be beat.

  34. #1bucsfan Says:

This team is trending the right way. We have most of the talent we need to be compete with the best in the game. There’s bin a few of us that have said it’s bin coaching this whole time. Hopefully everyone sees that now but we need to play more disciplined to many dam stupid penalties. We deff going to need some more help in the secondary. Guys still wide open some times.

  35. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This oline has made Rojo a better running back than anyone we have faced so far……it played as well as anyone would expect……actually better, and I do think coaching makes a difference.
Our 2017 draft with Vea,Rojo,Cappa,Whitehead & Watson looks really good right now and if we can get improvement from Davis & Stewart…..wow!!!

  36. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Sorry….2018 class

  37. TonyC Says:

Finally making use of the skill position players along with good run/pass blocking. Team should br able to score 30 most of the time.

  38. Slugglife Says:

    Who cares where Donald was?

Let’s talk about the defensive player of the week- Shaq Barrett. Dude goes non stop. If he can stay healthy, he may win defensive player of the year and All Pro. Get him signed now.

  39. OneBuc55 Says:

It looks like we’re a young team that’s learning how to win…

Trouncing the Rams kinda showed everyone what Jameis and this Bucs team is really capable of.. young teams needs to figure out how to close out games and osing to the Giants and the 9ers in hindsight may be a part of the process…

Let’s keep it going guys, it’s us against the world
    Go Bucs!

  40. D-Rome Says:

Exactly! There are mouth breathers in every fan base. It’s only a matter of time before the mouth breathers around here start criticizing Vita Vea for not having any sacks.

  41. Posey99 Says:

    guess i’m buying a cappa jersey…

  42. Brandon Says:

Donald didn’t have a sack, Joe.

  43. widerightandleft Says:

If the Bucs can do something about the backend they can make a run.I don’t care who your playingin the nfl if you can score 55 you can score enough against anyone to win.

  44. Perimeter Blocker Says:

I love the win, but what a roller coaster of emotion. Can we please stack some
Wins together? Coaching definitely has improved. Ronald Jones alone shows that….

  45. Isaac haggins Says:

I don’t know what some of you are watching but Cappa certainly has and had some really bad plays !!! Is the dude way way way better than last year but he and his line mates are still allowing their qb to get hit way above the league avg and New Flash AVG ain’t even close to good enough !!!
Difference was the D finally hit a qb as much as Winston got hit !!!
