The New King

September 26th, 2019

All hail!

So how will the new Sack King handle his throne?

Joe cannot believe he is typing the following: The Bucs have a pass rusher who leads the NFL in sacks. Yes, it is absolutely true! Shaq Barrett tied an NFL record Sunday as he became the fastest player since Mark Gastineau of Sack Exchange fame to reach eight sacks after three games.

This all is just blowing Joe’s mind — even more so than someone losing seven yards on purpose to set up a field goal from an already struggling rookie kicker.

“No one’s done it – it’s a first,” Arians boasted about Barrett getting to eight sacks so quickly. “To me, when you put that in the history of football, that’s big. What he’s done is big and hopefully he can continue.”

And as Joe has stated, the Bucs have to be beyond elated. Sure they thought Barrett could pass rush. But leading the league in sacks after three games? Arians admitted that is a surprise.

“I was hoping, but I don’t think anybody saw it coming – eight [sacks],” Arians said.

Now comes the tough part. Barrett is a marked man. Whereas before teams might have been aware he’s in the game, now you can guarantee teams will be game-planning for him throughout the week.

If Barrett can still get to Jared Goff Sunday even after the Rams are planning ways to take him out of plays, then the Bucs really do have someone special.

Joe doesn’t know how to handle this. A Bucs defender leading the NFL in sacks? In what world?

If we had Devin White last week we’d have won the game. Seeing that we have a sack master now even with JPP rehabbing his neck, White was clearly the correct pick.

    AwShbucs

You are absolutely clueless…. josh Allen was the right pick …. white will be running a wendys drive thru with kenny bell in 2 years…. white looks lost and is going to bust just like the majority of first round failures have over the last 42 years. Sapp and selmon only first rounders who earned it.

  3. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

That guy is incredibly fast. I swear he was offside on some of those plays.

  4. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Can’t wait for Devin white to come back ! Also can’t wait for Dean to take Davis spot

  5. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

His efforts, although heroic, were largely wasted along with Evans’. Last week’s loss is a close 2nd to the Monday Night Meltdown vs the Colts in 2003. Barkley out, 18 point lead at home vs a rookie QB? Gagalicious. Gay will never recover. The anxiety and depression will do him in.

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

In order to protect against the Shaq Attack, teams will leave themselves open to Nassib or Vea or another pass rusher……

I predict that Shaq will continue to be effective even with the league being aware of his talent.

Dean seems much more fluid with his movements and he is one of the fastest on the team, I’m hoping he gets to take over the starting job at some point this year. Expecting the defense to hold their own except for VH3 and Davis they will get roasted AGAIN

  8. 813bucboi Says:

we have a pass rush and run game now….

    and its licht’s fault….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!!

Joe- this team loses because the fans and media here glorify splash plays and stats. A team like the Ravens wins because they play complete , complimentary football.
If I had told you at halftime last Sunday that the game would come down to a Gay 34 yd fg with 3 sec left, you would’ve either anticipated a Jameis meltdown or a defensive meltdown- well we got both.

  10. Snook Says:

Shaq has just as many sacks as the top six OLBs/DEs taken in the draft. COMBINED.

    Bosa – 1
    Ferrell – 1
    Burns – 2
    Sweat – 1
    Allen – 2
    Gary – 1

  11. BucAllNight Says:

Where are all the pick the (long skinny Kentucky pass rusher guys at now) looking at you Joe #2

He had Gaines Adams(Rip) part 2 written all over him.

I cant even remember his name btw how many sacks does HE have right now?? I’m guessing not 8

    Go Bucs

    Go Bucs!!!

I hope Jameir melts down like that again. Bucs might win.

Josh Allen 10 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 strip sack.

Imagine Shaq on the right and Josh on the left. I would love to have Josh on a rookie contract for 5 years.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning, smells like…………….VICTORY!

Maybe pump the breaks…if you go back one year and look at the meteoric and historic play of the amish rifle in the first 3 games…hope sack barrett keeps it up, but

  15. doctor_berto Says:

Bucallnight, Im right here and i still think josh allen should have been the pick. Devin white didn’t impress me in college and hasnt impressed at all in preseason or week 1. Hopefully that changes.

  16. doctor_berto Says:

Cant wait for Devin White to get burned and stiff armed again once he’s back!

  17. Bojim Says:

Too bad he’ only going to be here one season.

  18. TOM Says:

All I can say is Minter’s been playing great in White’s absence.

  19. Jean Lafitte Says:

Michael Bennett who? A pass rusher who has only had one double digit sack season in his entire career, but 3 games into 16 game schedule and Shaq has 8. Maybe Barrett can put the overused Bennett argument to rest finally.

  20. lowercaseg Says:

Minter is good against the run but bad in coverage. Tight ends do as they please with minter in coverage.

  21. Bruce's Biscuit Says:

Yo doctor_squirto – are you actually pulling AGAINST a bucs player in hope of making a point? Seriously? Must be a troll….go away troll

  22. Darin Says:

Give Nassib some love. The guy is bull rushing tackles into the qb in less than 2 seconds. Takes at least 2. And Josh Allen has 2 sacks 3 games in Buc. A bust? A rookie on pace for over 10 sacks is very impressive. Devin White hasnt impressed many. Anyway the new sack king better handle the throne like a guy who is 1-2 should. Find ways to get wins.

Hopefully he is more than a rental

  24. doctor_berto Says:

Im pulling for Devin White to get his injured ass on the field and prove that I’m wrong! No more blind optimism! You probably like Hargreaves as well, huh?

  25. #1bucsfan Says:

    T M A X I P A D. another false statement on your side. Man your hilarious

  26. RustyRhinos Says:

TMAXCON you ever hear of that hall of fame first round player who changed the game because of what he did on the football field. His name is Derick Brooks. Look him up you will be surprised by this first round pick player we drafted. Thanks Sam!

  27. ir8oldman Says:

    Dear TmaxLib,

Every thing that you post is such a downer that you MUST be Hillary Clinton’s love child. Everyone to you is weak-minded or some similar ailment, it gets old quick. Please leave commentary to Buccaneer FANS..

  28. D Smythe Says:

My thought is he is getting his sacks because of the D line performing as a hole and the o lines paying extra attention to Vea and Sue.
When they start to pay attention to “Sack Barrett” then that sets up one on one for Vita Vea or N. Sue. If we start to see sacks across the D Line then we have something. Go Team Go Bucs!!

  29. Buczilla Says:

If Shaq cleans Andrew Whitworth’s clock the way he has these other left tackles, I hope the Glazers demand that Licht sign this dude to at least a 3 year contract. Josh Allen would sure look good on the other side of Shaq, but hopefully, super rookie Devin White proves a lot of people wrong (me included) and shows why he was picked at 5 overall.
