Return To The Pro Bowl!

September 5th, 2019

CBS projects.

This would ruin some people’s day.

Of course, ’tis the season of predictions. Joe sometimes is convinced there is more projecting and predicting going on when the football season begins than when calendars flip over to January.

But here we are. And in honor of the centennial season for the NFL, CBS Sports decided to come up with 100 predictions for 2019. And Cody Benjamin is of the mind America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. returns to the Pro Bowl in January.

Jameis Winston delivers a Pro Bowl-caliber season

He’s far from the easiest QB to project, but Bruce Arians is going to let him air it out, and his weapons are underrated. As a whole, the Bucs are still a question mark, but Jameis has never been more equipped to go off.

Well, Joe will go out on a limb and predict two things if this prediction comes through.

The first is the Bucs will have a good season. Joe isn’t ready to suggest the Bucs are playoff-bound. As Joe pointed out earlier in the week, just too many questions with this team.

Second, if Jameis makes the Pro Bowl, Jameis will return to the Bucs in 2020, maybe for quite a few seasons.

Yes, Joe understands that last scenario will really be a buzzkill for many.

As an alternate again? Only if one of the other QB’s get injured they’ll be like ” Jameis all the other quarterbacks are injured or in the playoffs… we know you threw 20 interceptions and you were 7th on our NFC QBs list but hey… wanna play?”

That should warrant $30 million right? Overrated overhyped

  2. Ben real Says:

Not ruining my day…. because first I would be proud! Second it would mean that A. We made the playoffs or B. We had a winning season . 3rd it hasn’t ruined my day because as of right now it hasn’t happened yet

  3. Stanglassman Says:

You forgot Jameis led his subpar team to a 9-7 record and eclipsed the 4,000-yard passing mark for the second straight season, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 4,000 yards in each of his first two seasons.

  4. Defense Rules Says:

I can’t imagine any true Bucs’ fan NOT wanting Jameis to have a great year Joe. That’s ludicrous. At the same time, I could care less whether or not he goes to the Pro Bowl. And no, Jameis is not a true Pro-Bowler based on being an alternate years ago (2015 as a rookie). That year ELEVEN QBs made the Pro Bowl … 7 primary & 4 replacements, of which Jameis was one.

Now if Jameis has a great 2019 season AND is designated as a 1st Team ALL-PRO, THEN we’ll talk. All-Pro is so much more significant IMO because it’s less ‘political’. And yes I think it’s humorous that last year SEVEN 1st Team All-Pros were snubbed by the Pro Bowl.

  5. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

As a 5th alternate or someone who deserves it?

As fans let’s hope he plays well enough to deserve it

  6. Bucnjim Says:

If it ruins your day you probably aren’t a Buc fan. That goes for other players as well though. Devin White, the entire secondary, Cappa and the O line, Nassib and the D line, and even Gay the kicker. Anyone who has taken over the top criticism on this site should also be recognized for good play. If Donovan Smith balls this year that would be excellent. If Dotson can hold his own on the right even better since these are the players I have been critical of. The problem I’ve seen on here way too many times is if a player someone doesn’t like is playing well it is crickets or its well can he keep it up.

  7. #1bucsfan Says:

    Go Bucs. #endthedrought

  8. Todd Says:

Enjoyed reading a somewhat positive blog post here.

Joe, please abstain from writing a negative article on every Bucs player and coach well in advance of Sunday’s game…just so you’re prepped to begin your smear campaign at the sign of the first loss. Don’t scratch that itch! You can do it. Instead, do drugs, go on a bender, jerk off…anything…just DON’T pre-slam our Bucs.

    Thank you in advance.

  9. D-Rome Says:

Joe, very few are rooting for Jameis to fail.

  10. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

Todd, instead it is the fans that are besmirched in this one. Classic JW3 apologist mode.

  11. BucEmUp Says:

I hope Jameis does get extended because the probelm has been coaching and defense and special teams and missed field goals and lack of ub game adjustments and bad clock managment and bad challengers and everything about the team around him.

But some. ” fans ” think he should rise above all that and carry the team.single handedly.

Is that the name of a restaurant ?…..
seriously I hope he makes the PB because that would mean the team had a good season……..”chickens before they hatch”

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I can understand not liking a player…..or even despising one…..but what I can’t understand is rooting for a player to fail……that is not something any true fan would do.
I also understand the skepticism about the Bucs coming season and the “prove it” fan base…..that’s a perfectly reasonable position.
What I don’t understand is how a fan could constantly and continually be 100% negative about their team.
    And I know few give a $hit what I understand…..

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

Individual accolades are worthless if the team doesn’t win. Much to most people’s chagrin, I believe that less Jameis will equal more wins, which runs contrary to the belief that he will make a Pro Bowl.
35+ pass attempts a game is not where we want to be as an offense.

  17. JA Says:

I predict Jameis will not play in the Pro Bowl as he will either be exhausted from the Bucs playoff run or preparing for the Super Bowl!
And you can take that to the bank … in Cambodia … in Siem Reap … located in an obscure area in the temple ruins of Angkor Wat …

Actually, a few years back I was tossed from one of the ruins by a security guard that didn’t take kindly to me placing my Bucs hat on one of the small statues of Buddha. Seems the Bucs legacy of losing is a worldwide phenomenon or I had committed some sort of blasphemous act. Wasn’t sure as I couldn’t understand the guard through all the screaming and language barrier. After witnessing a couple of the robed monks smoking cigarettes I thought “anything goes here.” Guess I was wrong. But Buddha looked damn good in the hat. He had a Vita Vea look going on there …

  19. Bird Says:

Obseezzed joe back at it again .

A grown man that acts like he is 10.
Yah people want Jameis to not have a pro bowl year …cause Bucs would be in the playoffs if he was in pro bowl

    Get over yourself

If only logical joe and Ira and man beast wrote more articles
    Turned this site to 💩

  20. DBS Says:

I couldn’t care less about the popularity contest game.

  21. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

We’re deep in the “hype season” where everyone is equal. That changes Sunday.

  22. Pittsshore Says:

Click bait Joe. Your website traffic should not be so slow this time of the year….

  23. isrBuc Says:

Still waiting for an answer: What is JW’s trade value? Which team (other than the PR managed bucs) would have given up a first round pick for the right to pay him 30 mil next year?

I’ll be waiting here for the answers.

  24. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

The Joe Bucs fan over reaction by the Clueless Joe is in full effect

Let’s be real Jameis is no where near as bad as the haters think and not even close to as good as the apologist think he is.

He’s got a lot to prove locally and nationally as he’s inconsistent as hell.

  25. BoltIsle Says:

Let the Jameis Derangement Syndrome commence. The usual “fans” and their usual comments.
Props to the Joes for the entertainment

  26. Buczilla Says:

I don’t see Jameis making the Pro Bowl, but I would love to see it happen. It would mean not having to blow it all up and starting over yet again. Also, we could use next year’s number one pick on a pass rusher (wishful thinking I know because we hate pass rushers) instead of anorher project at quarterback.

If Jameis makes the Pro Bowl and Arians doesn’t get another coach of tbe year award, then that voting process is more sketchy and biased than HOF voting. 😜

  27. Scott Says:

Other prediction on that list is that we’ll finish last in the division again…

  28. Buc1987 Says:

NFL Network Fantasy football Start’em or Sit’em.

This weeks #1 QB to start is…. Jameis Winston.

    Go Bucs!

  29. BucsminsterFuller Says:

    Jaemis returns to the Probowl?
Is Brady going to sit out the Probowl this year too?

  30. Gordon Says:

He is better than Marriota though?!

  31. SteelStudBuc Says:

The pro bowl is a stupid fan vote… top 100 and all-pro is what counts… Jameis are you top 100? $30 million? I don’t think so. C’mon Joe you want facts but your blinded by bias.

  32. DooshLaRue Says:

It won’t ruin my day because I am a Bucs fan and I want any QB for us to succeed.
However, I EXPECT JW to screw up because that’s what he’s shown me over the last 4 years.
Will he change this year and be better?

I hope so…..but please forgive my lack of blind optimism for that to actually happen.

  33. D-Rome Says:

This weeks #1 QB to start is…. Jameis Winston.

Jameis is a GREAT fantasy QB for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with winning real football. Fantasy experts think Jameis is a great QB for fantasy because they don’t believe the Bucs have a good defense or a good running game. That in turn means Jameis is going to have to throw it a ton to keep the Bucs in games. Yards = points in fantasy, but not in real football.

  34. JimmyJack Says:

Joe it is sad to hear that Winston getting named to a ProBowl would ruin somebody’s day but it is true. Heck, even you writing this article looks like it’s ruing a few day. Well tell them to come to the stadium and boo if that how they feel. Guaranteed they will be alone as the rest of us fans will be cheering. Anybody who feels like that wouldn’t show up to support the team anyway so screw em.

I do love this article though. Sure just a prediction but it got me pumped up a little bit!!! If there is one thing I would wish to see from this site it would be more articles that try to 🔥 us up like this one does. I know ya gotta be real and write what ya feel and I respect that but I don’t think it’s asking to much change it up a bit just on game day. I’ve have been excited for Sunday football quite a f w times then came on here and felt a nutpuch from a negative article. Just help us stay fired up on Gamedays bro. It’s like a holiday to Us…….Not asking to change the format just wait on it til Monday.

    GO BUCS Baby!!!

  35. Billy_45 Says:

    @D Rome
Yeah NFL.com has Jameis as the Start of the Week against the 49ers.
OJ Howard is a start as well

That’s your bread and butter all year actually.

And about people pulling for Jameis to fail, I don’t think any true Bucs fans WANT this, but there are so many cry babies on this site, it sure seems that way.

Just the I told you so crowd though.

  36. JimmyJack Says:

Steel don’t confuse yourself. The $30M was referenced if Winston is indeed a ProBowler.

Yep that’s worth 30 large. Look at the list of ProBowl QBs and tell us why not. Then you can look at all these non ProBowl QBs fitting to get $30M and you’ll see it’s a very fair deal.

  37. BucsBandit Says:

Jameis making the Pro Bowl this year would be amazing…

He’d be the first NFL QB in history to make the Pro Bowl the following season after being **BENCHED** for being terrible.

  38. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

JDS applies to his Stat Carriers too

  39. JameisNOT Says:

Chew on this: Dan Marino played on many, if not all, terrible teams throughout his career. His OLine allowed him to get banged up. Terrible D. Virtually no rushing game. Guess what: his talent overcame his teams weaknesses. Does JameisNOT have it in him to do the same?? NOOOOOO

  40. mark2001 Says:

If its and buts were candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas.

Hope he does make the Pro-bowl. That likely means we are in the playoffs. Time will tell.

  41. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

If the Pro Bowl selections are by NFL-wide fan votes, Winston will not make it (unless he’s picked as an alternative because some other better QB cannot play, like his only other time)

  42. T REX Says:

No matter how well he plays you franchise him. Make him do it two years in a row. Contract yeayear syndrome is real.

  43. BucsBandit Says:

T REX – unless he plays bad like he did for much of the season last year. Then you don’t franchise him, you CUT HIM and move on with the franchise.

  44. Tony1775 Says:

Don’t know why people would be apposed to this. Is all the articles surrounding Jameis just to arise clicks Joe. Is Jameis Joe’s quarterback. I hope everyone makes it then we will succeed. Fans have been burned before, and just looking at Jameis he either is subjective to bad coaching, turnsdial coaches, or just lacks the mental/physical capacity to be a top QB. When do we make that determination? How long does it take to be that qb? When does the inconsistency stop? The turnovers? I hope it comes together this year as a fan.

  45. BrianBucs Says:

It would be absolutely fantastic to see Winston play well enough to earn a Pro Bowl spot just as long as it’s not like last time where he backed in by default with inflated garbage time stats.
Winston earning a Pro Bowl spot would mean the Bucs probably had a good or decent season which is what we all want.

  46. Buccaroo Says:

“Bucs will have a good season”

    6 – 10 is not a good season Joe.

  47. Buc1987 Says:

    D-Rome Says:

“Fantasy experts think Jameis is a great QB for fantasy because they don’t believe the Bucs have a good defense or a good running game.”

I thought that was only Winston fans on this site that think there’s no running game or defense. WTF?????????????

  48. DooshLaRue Says:

    Poor Jaboo:

While the hiring of Bruce Arians led to an offseason of hopeful headlines for Winston and the Bucs’ offense, there’s plenty of reason to believe this match wasn’t made in heaven. One stat that sticks out like a W no one wants to eat: Since Winston entered the league as the first overall pick in 2015, no QB has more giveaways (76). That’s the opposite of tasty. If Arians can’t help him make better decisions, this might be his high point on the QB Index in 2019.

  49. DooshLaRue Says:

  50. Ramen Noodles Says:

Peyton Barber is not good. Everybody stop acting like he’s a feature back. Without a good run game Jamies is going to have be freaking Warren Moon.

  51. Dapostman Says:

NFL.com has Trubisky rated ahead of Winston. GTFOH! Trubisky sucks. Joke.

  52. BucsBandit Says:

    @Ramen Noodles,

Doug Martin rushed for over 1,400 yards (2nd in the NFL) in 2015 and Jameis managed a whopping SIX WINS.
