Mike Evans Rises

September 22nd, 2019

In the record books.

In the season-opening game against San Francisco, Bucs stud receiver Mike Evans was almost a no-show because he was sick.

The only thing sick about Evans today was how he lit up the Giants to open the game.

Evans broke out in a monster way Sunday by lighting up the Giants for 146 yards and three touchdowns on seven catches in the first half. Evans, now in his sixth season, has only had seven games with more than 146 yards. He finished with eight catches for 190 yards.

Evans’ three touchdowns is a career record for most in a game, much less a season. As a result, Evans joined Ring of Honor member Jimmie Giles as the only Bucs players to catch three touchdowns in one half for the Bucs.

Despite the loss making Joe want to puke like had a stomach virus, there was one bright spot on this Bucs team. That’s the play of one of the best receivers in the game, Evans.

Too bad a class act like Evans is stuck on this clown car of an NFL franchise.

He had more like 190 yards total, 146 in first half

  2. Rayjay1122 Says:

    Evans and Shaq…..only outstanding performers.

  3. adambomb418 Says:

I’m just not sure I can follow this team closely anymore.

  4. DB55 Says:

Cough cough cough 380 3 TDs 1 int 112 qbr cough cough cough.

One day he’ll throw for 8 TDs and 800 yards and y’allqueda will still complain

  5. Bucs_Fan_Orlando Says:

    Mike is my Favorite Buc.

I’m sad he doesn’t get to play in the playoffs, the bucs are keeping this guy from getting a jacket and that’s a shame.

Sorry Mike I would hate for you to leave but I want better for you.

  6. Simeon97 Says:

any other receiver this good would be clamoring to get off this terrible franchise.

  7. Petty Officer Buc Says:

When he snaps and demands a trade off this team, you can catch me at the Sunshine Skyway.

  8. knucknbuc Says:

wish he had a better team around him and better qb. too bad dudes one of the best and most of the others cant get their heads out of their collective a$$es. evans your not a loser like the rest try and stick with it but i not i would understand if u wanted to leave the rest of the little giants. this team sucks terribly. mike evans will end up just like vjax spend his career on a crap team with a unclutch qb who puts up numbers that doesnt do crap when it matters. poor guy.

  9. BetterBucFan Says:

Just feel bad for the guy

  10. tmaxcon Says:

If evans agent is competent he will get Evans out of the black hole

  11. JimmyJack Says:

Evans you are completely irrevelant. Sorry buddy I know it’s not fair but you on a losing team that cannot win home games. Not your fault but you only matter in fantasy.

Losers are an afterthought in this league.

Our weakest link lost us another game and this organization has no idea how to fix it. It is hurting 52 other players on this team and all of us fans.

We are helpless to fix it and those who can are not good enough at their jobs. Totally unacceptable to lose a game this way and to lose them this way for years is dam near torture.

This team is good enough to win with better kicker and this problem better get fixed right now. The cost of doing so should be any.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

BetterBucFan …me too I feel bad for him and all his millions of dollars…

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

What? Am I missing here. I don’t see anything Rising about being 1-2 so far. We suck to holy hell and beyond.

  14. TampaBay AllDay Says:

GET THE HELL OUTTA THERE MIKE!!! DONT WORRY ABOUT ME, SAVE YOURSELF

  15. Aaron Says:

We always find a way to lose…it really doesnt matter…we are a koke

  16. Asdf Says:

    DB55 – you quote 380, 3TDs and 1 INT like that means anything…

To win this game we needed more from Jameis and this offense. He looked lost and shaken yet again in the second half of the game and that clearly affected the play calling. A franchise QB needs to produce more than 3 pts in the second half

Jameis doesn’t have IT. Certainly not enough to pay him beyond this year. We should have blown this team out and never let them back in the game. First two drives of the second half were 3 and outs or close to it

  17. TampaBay AllDay Says:

Snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory….never gets old

  18. Wesley Says:

Feel bad for anyone who has to play on this p.o.s. team.

  19. ben Says:

db55 ..Just wondering ,Which qb would you prefer on your team that played today. The giants rookie that played his 1st game or the bucs qb that has been playing for over 4 yrs and 1st pick in the draft…I’m waiting !!

  20. TampaBay AllDay Says:

Were we watching the same game? Because I could of sworn it was that vanilla ass play calling and the kicker that cost us the game. “You play to win the game!”

  21. Cgmaster27 Says:

@asdf i would call IT putting your team in position to win the game, not sure what IT is in your mind. Make a chip shot and its a game winning drive. You jameis haters reach more ever week. Leftwich and his turtle shell offense in the second half also cost us this game.

  22. Jeffbuc Says:

If it wasn’t for a horrible play call by Carolina we would be 0-3. In the easiest part of are schedule. We suck no hope again. We ha e a new group
Of coaches who have no killer mentality. Keep throwing it and blow them out but no let’s run it the whole second have and try to hang on

  23. Bosch Says:

Arians was another huge Licht glazer mistake. Ve notice how people who talk spit turn out to b not worth spit?

  24. Buc1987 Says:

ben…I’ll answer for DB…..right now I’d still take Jameis.

He put them in position to win the game. Period.

The kicker missed an easy kick. Period.

  25. DB55 Says:

    Asdf

    8 for 8 with 8 TDs and 800 yards? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😘

  26. DB55 Says:

What 87 said plus a RT and a kicker but wtfdik

  27. Jean Lafitte Says:

Good game by Mike. Just would like to see him hit in stride more, it seems he’s always diving or jumping for the ball which takes him off his feet. He was getting separation.

  28. Jean Lafitte Says:

Mike was locked in with single man coverage most of the game while Godwin saw more doubles teams

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Sure our kicker lost the game…..shouldn’t happen.

But…..we were outscored 22 to 3 in the second half…..

Now, I don’t know about you but that looks like a collective losing effort from both the offense and defense.

There is no way it should have come down to that kick.

Leftwich “went with the hot hand”…..Rojo…..no, not really….the hot hand was Mike Evans and he didn’t see the ball until the last series…

They were set up for play-action on a couple of drives but we kept running until they finally stopped us……so we get 3…instead of 7.

  30. How do Goff and Mayfield look...... Says:

How are they not released yet. 6-3 game at half………unimaginable

  31. Mike Johnson Says:

Despite having the biggest NFl coaching staff, we still the Yucks. Guess next year the media will find us another whippin post to chew on other than McCoy and ole Lovie. Who..will it be..Licht? I hope so!!
Not to bring this up Butt..up next? Them Rams. No mercy will be shown by them. Ruck up Bucs..No Excuses Baby!

  32. DB55 Says:

    Ben

Quick question. When is the last time Jameis hits his TE with a 5-10 pass and they take it 75 yards for a TD? How about a wr? I’ll wait….

  33. NY BucFan Says:

6-3 at half in the Sunday night game……and these two quarterbacks are heroes to Tampa fans….go figure…. Jameis, run away from here as fast as you can. Tampa Florida is not a sports town!!!!! You will never be good enough here til you are Steve Young!!!!!

  34. DB55 Says:

And I guess were not even going to discuss the beating Jameis took AGAIN.

  35. Bird Says:

    He looked like a savage

  36. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

I guess the bright side is last year we started 2-1 and it didn’t end well so maybe 1-2 better days are to come…

  37. Ndog Says:

DB55 just give up bro these people have shown their hand. They will NEVER be happy with Jameis NEVER so don’t waste your time brother, it’s not worth it. Everything is his fault no matter what, these people clearly just want him gone so anything you say or he does will not change their uneducated, idiotic, clueless opinions because they do care about facts they just want him gone.

  38. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

If Evans wants out in a few years I wouldn’t blame him

  39. DB55 Says:

    Ndog

You are right bro. I can’t help myself.

  40. DB55 Says:

Just for perspective Baker Mayfield is 9-18 with 88 yards in the 3rd qrt and he’s has commercials. Oh yea and a criminal record but……

  41. DB55 Says:

3 secs in the pocket and not 1 defender within 5 yards. And he’s playing the Rams. But ….

  42. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Jason Licht lost this game….

Why are we talking about Winston???

Matt Gay didn’t miss that kick, Jason Licht did. Because Patrick Murray should’ve been the one making that kick.

    #SignPatMurray

  43. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jameis was under significant pressure today……

Their coverage was good for the exception of Evans….

There is no question we let off the gas on offense….I mean….3 points in the half against that defense…..that speaks volumes.

Our problem in the red zone is blatantly obvious…..we can’t run….we waste plays trying to run when short passes would succeed….

We are constantly putting ourselves into 3rd down situations in the RZ because of failed running plays.

  44. Adrnagy Says:

Sign Eric berry and nick perry. Sign dan bailey.

  45. Asdf Says:

    @DB55 –

    Google “Can-t-Miss-Play-O-J-Howard-torches-Eagles-D-for-75-yard-TD”

  46. DB55 Says:

Aaron Rodgers today 17/29 56% comp %. 235 yards. 1TD. 96 qbr. All around worse than Winston even scored less points but he got the win. 🤔

  47. DB55 Says:

Yup how long ago was that? And where has he been since? Mike Evans did it once too his rookie year.

  48. Tbbucs3 Says:

I’d rather sign Alex Morgan than Matt Gay to be our kicker

  49. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

A lot of season left to fix this. Prime reason we brought in Arians. I’m just going to let them show me they can do it before i step foot in that stadium again. I have been exhausting all of my energy for years. Now it’s their turn to WIN me back. Go Bucs!!

  50. Adrnagy Says:

Every team is beatable. Except chiefs, patriots. We have a chance. Good thing is we are playing better. Sign Eric berry for a experience safety and nick perry for more pass rush.

  51. Kenny Says:

Who is covering? Those dudes were open all day! And that Evans sideline td smh busted coverage

  52. Bucs911 Says:

Very easily could be 0-3 right now

  53. Asdf Says:

@DB55 well both those passes came from QB’s not named Jameis. Funny thing about run and catch TD’s is that they usually require good ball placement. Not JW’s strong suit

  54. Asdf Says:

    @DB55 –

On and I just rewatched Evan’s catch at the end do the game. Everyone should quickly do the same. That should have been a TD!! JW underthrows him and he gets tackled. He was behind both the corner and safety by several steps.

  55. Bird Says:

Mike Evans only rises because of Jamie’s

Mike Evans is best player we got
    Nah

    DB and Ndog know better
Could you imagine that love triangle
    Bwtfdik

  56. Pete Mitchell Says:

I’ve purposefully had to dial back my engagement/enthusiasm for this damn football team precisely because of days like today.

    this has got to stop.

I think this is the type of game that makes JW3 feel like he has to go bombs away in order for us to have a shot at winning.

We should have held this giants team to 10 points today.

  57. DB55 Says:

    Asdf

Not sure if you’re aware but last year jameis was top in the league when outside the pocket. Year before that both Koetter and Evans said their best play was the scramble drill but yea Winston is just garbage time to find a franchise quarterback bc he ain’t it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Let’s just ignore that a rookie QBs playing in his first game threw 4 TDs on this defense. Let’s ignore that bc you know TURNOVERS lol you guys are funny man.

  58. Anonymous Says:

Winston is not trusted to keep his foot on the gas. He was already working in the red getting through first half without stinking it up. Licht and BA objective: “We
can’t let Winston look bad. He looks bad, we look bad.” They took the foot off the gas, got way too conservative because of Jameies. Meanwhile, Winston was Winston in the second half. INT, hold the ball, trouble making decisions, sacks. No TD in red zone. Loss.

SF: we saw what happens when Winston is allowed to run loose. Fixed in in CAR: Game manager for Winston, barely won game, but minimized mistakes. Yesterday. Tried same thing. Choke. O and D played just barely good enough to win. Didn’t count on missing an easy kick.

  59. Ed Says:

Bucs were outcoached and outplayed in second half. We’ve seen this before. Evans was great. Jameis Winston, played well enough to win in the first half and in the 2 minute offense at the end.

Horrible coaching cost the Bucs. The 3 straight runs in the red zone, after Winston spiked the ball there was time for another play. Delay of game was stupid, no matter what the kicker says about his preference for where ball is spotted why move the ball backwards, they lost 5 yards on the delay, they lost a few yards on Winston repositioning the ball. They also came out of the locker room unprepared to put the Giants away in the 3rd quarter, they had that game in the bag and puked it up. How many more times will they lose games at home against teams that have more talent? It comes down to players going and executing for 60 minutes but the coaches have to make the right decisions and adjustments.

  60. BucEmUp Says:

Evans will request a trade by the end of this season if this crap doesnt stop. He is tired of not making the playoffs the disgust is easy to see in his eyes

  61. kstoges Says:

Winston made tough throws all day he played great to there’s no doubt about it
