Key Injuries Arise For Buccaneers

September 25th, 2019

This is unsettling with the Rams up next in four short days.

Chris Godwin, Vita Vea and Ryan Jensen are not practicing today. Devin White and Jamel Dean continue to be out. Today, Arians called them all day-to-day.

The official injury report will be released later with the details of the new injuries to the three big names: Godwin, Vea and Jensen.

Right now, Joe would have to say Jensen is the most valuable of the three for this one game against Los Angeles. He’s been playing well and inserting an new and inferior center on the road is a recipe for critical mistakes.

Oh boy a back up center versus Donald?!?!?!?!

    RUN JAMEIS RUN

I hear the Jets need a QB. Call Tenn or Atl, maybe even NE just gtfoh

  2. ChanEpic Says:

Possibly No Vea against that running game…? Nope. We need him out there.

  3. Stanglassman Says:

I’ll be concerned if they don’t participate in Thursday’s practice. Anyone who plays fantasy football knows this rule of thumb.

  4. JimmyJack Says:

    Dangit……Devin White still out.

  5. Cannon Says:

With Jensen out, that means we won’t see much effective running nor pass blocking.

Remove Godwin, and now we have a double covered Mike Evans. Whee.

Take out Vita, and now we no longer have a dominant run defense.

I think the Bucs win this one.

  6. ChanEpic Says:

@JimmyJack – Devin White = Wita Vea circa 2018. When he gets right he’ll get really right.

  7. ChanEpic Says:

    *Vita

  8. tmaxcon Says:

does it really matter who is hurt when there is truly no hope with this mickey mouse franchise…. glazers basement title streak is in no jeopardy with this roster or coaching staff…. positive reality people

  9. JimmyJack Says:

DB55…….Winston our QB dude. You and your stank ass yankee mitts aren’t gettin nowhere near him.

Now go enjoy your busted up flop QB stuggles to put up 1 TD every Sunday and think up a new dream

  10. Dewey Selmon Says:

No one said they are out playing Sunday. 99% chance all 3 are in the lineup.

  11. JimmyJack Says:

And agreed about Jensen. He looks so much better in this offense.

Between him and Cappa really like what the OL coach(Goodwin?) has done with his guys. D.Smith has stepped up his game too. Great knack for hitting the second level in run block.

Dotson is only guy playing below expectations IMO.

  12. WyomingDude Says:

It’s Friday… @Stanglassman not Thursday, the NFL mandates 4pm final injury report (for Sunday games).

And Wednesday…means absolutely nothing. Just rest and rehabilitation.

By Friday at 4pm, then anyone needs to be concerned. That is, to the extent anyone thought the Bucs were going out to LA and beating the Rams, not this guy realistically.

  13. StonedBuc Says:

So i think i might have fogured oit jamies problem…. He has an interview with gq and he said he always has his speciel cocoa butter on the sidelines so his hands dont get ashy… Bro why are you lotioning up your hands during a game? No wonder the ball is inaccurate and slippery.

  14. JimmyJack Says:

    Waiting for it Chan.

Most fans just got no patience. Just like Vita White was called a bust during preseason. I laughed as I typed that.

One choice poster even called one of our draft choices before the preseason games started. What a maroon.

  15. JimmyJack Says:

WtheF? Our QB puts oil on his hands. Dude you got to be trolling. The same QB that has a massive fumbling problem?

Remember that one game when he dove for the goalline and extended the ball and it just slipped out of his hand with no contact of any kind? They replayed it several times to see if it slipped out before or after it crossed the goalline.

Oils his hands? You got me on that one.

  16. Greg Says:

Unsettling? You mean you felt confident before this news?

  17. pelbuc Says:

This game will be a blowout by the first quarter anyway.

  18. BigMacAttack Says:

One bad beat and they’re throwing in the towel. 😭😭😭

  19. unbelievable Says:

Said this earlier, Sunday is gonna get real ugly….

  20. Defense Rules Says:

Looked like all 3 finished the game on Sunday. Bumps & bruises? HOPEFULLY all 3 are Full Participation tomorrow.

And JimmyJack, our OLine seems to be run-blocking better, but Jameis was sacked 3 times in Game 1, 3 times in Game 2, and 4 times in Game 3. That’s on-track for him being sacked 53-54 times this year. Last year our QBs were sacked 41 times. Year before 40, and year before that 35, and 27 times year before that (2015). Same Jameis each year. My conclusion? This OLine isn’t protecting him nearly well enough this year. And especially on key downs (most have occurred on 3rd down & in the 2nd half, with the rest occurring on 1st & 10 … none on 2nd down).

  21. Hodad Says:

We lost to the worst defense at home, and a rookie QB making his first start with most of those players playing. We suck, doesn’t matter who plays, or doesn’t the results are usually the same, loss. No excuses! It’s the NFL, if you draft well, and have a franchise QB you should have a chance to win every week. We don’t have either. This game is a loss before it starts. The week after will be a loss at N.O.. The stinking Panthers will get their revenge in England. After the bye we’ll get rolled by the Seahawks. By then the season will be over, and we’ll be talking about firing Licht, and drafting a new QB.

  22. DB55 Says:

    DR

How many times has Jameis been hit though?

You know Mahomes stays on the ground with his jersey all muddied up but Jameis Jersey barely dirty at all, ammirite?

  23. StonedBuc Says:

Im not trolling, look up 10 things jamies cant live wothout on youtube..

  24. NPRSageBoy Says:

1-3 staring us in the face.

The slide downward started against the Giants and it doesn’t get any easier anytime soon

  25. 74 Bucs fan Says:

Jameis is our QB, like it or not, and I’m an FSU fan – but one thing I’ve noticed this year is Jameis holding the ball too long. I think he’s afraid of throwing picks, but he needs to throw it away when he’s outside of the pocket scrambling. I can think of several times this year already where he’s been dropped for a 5 or 7 yard loss outside of the pocket. Decision making.

However – Jameis played a pretty damn good game Sunday and drove us downfield for the win. He has 9 come from behind victories, but should have about 90 if some jackwagons could kick.

  26. 813bucboi Says:

    they’ll all play….

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  27. 813bucboi Says:

    74

    i agree….

but some think its never JW’s fault…..

even when he over throws a wide open ME 7yards in front of him….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  28. Patrickbucs Says:

Jets, Titans, and Redskins all have great offensive lines..

Per Peter King: Ravens swarmed Mahomes, with 12 sacks/hits/significant pressures per Pro Football Focus. But he continued his incredible play, even without the injured staring left tackle as injured Tyreek Hill.. He slithers out of trouble and in a Favrian way but without the interceptions.

Hmm guess Mahomes does get hit, hurried, etc. minutes the turnovers. Jameis is the only one though according to the troll all the time.

  29. BringBucsBack Says:

Jameis moved onto cocoa butter once he finished the hand cream left in K. Winslow’s old locker.

  30. BA FAN Says:

In the first three games we have been competitive in every game. I am not predicting a win against the Rams after seeing they just whipped the Browns who are stocked with top talent, but there is a chance if BA finds a way to beat the Rams. However, I do predict we will rise up and get a surprise win over the Saints. And if the Panthers get their first string QB back he will be scared of getting hit by us and with no running game we will rock him and take them too. The Seahawks just got beat this week so we could explode them again and get another victory. So no the sky is not falling!

  31. Isaac haggins Says:

Not so sure Minter isn’t better than White right now

  32. Stanglassman Says:

Wyoming-Are you saying that the Bucs will be practicing on a Friday before a west coast game? I would think Friday would be at most a walk through. A normal Friday is goal line, sub packages and two minute. Usually a short day on a normal week. I’m not sure how BA and staff do their Fridays when they’re traveling to the west coast but either way Thursday is the most important practice and the day that the injury report comes out.

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    I’m surprisingly not worried.

I still say to the team:

    #ShowMeDon’tTellMe

People mocked me for it before. Now not so much.

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

But I do still think the NFC Championship Game is possible.

  35. unbelievable Says:

    @DR- you are spot on.

I’m am incredibly happy to see the improved run-blocking, but it seems our pass blocking has regressed in it’s place.

Now a few of those sacks and hits are on Jameis for holding the ball too long, but most of them are defenders rushing freely straight at him.

In addition to the 4 sacks on Sunday, he must have been hit at least 15 times.

  36. BigMacAttack Says:

5 bad plays cost them the game and Gay had 3 of them. I still don’t understand Todd Bowles not having a LB on Jones for the go ahead TD. This team is light years better than the 2018 team.

  37. BigMacAttack Says:

I think the Bucs will beat the Rams. Suh will come up huge and it may only be by 1 point.

  38. WillieG Says:

Look on the bright side Joe, if Jensen doesn’t play you will have an excuse for Jameis’s picks and fumbles.

  39. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Uh oh, injuries, cue the excuses for Jay Miss from DB55.

  40. stpetebucsfan Says:

I do not disagree with Joe about Jensen being the most valuable of those potential losses. Although Vea is right there with him.
I attribute a lot of our early D success to the DL…Vea and Suh are the straws that stir that drink and enable Shaq and others to run free to the QB.

Godwin is my favorite player…but he’s the least critical on the list because it’s not just ME…OJ finally broke out…Brate is still solid…JW will still have his targets.

  41. Mike Johnson Says:

Won’t matter who plays for our Bucs against them Rams. jameis is gonna be on his back a lot. I’m worried about him being injured. The Rams have both a balanced O and D. Might be long afternoon guys.

  42. teacherman777 Says:

Kevin Minter is BETTER than White.

    And Sean-Bunting cant play either.

    Nice first two picks!!
