Defensive Line Snap Counts

September 10th, 2019

Workhorse

The heat was blazing Sunday and the Bucs’ defensive line was shuffling like most do.

Ndaumkong Suh led the way when it came to time in the trenches.

He logged 79 percent of the snaps, ahead of his interior line comrade Vita Vea, who logged 71 percent. That was pretty damn impressive with missing all of preseason with a knee injury.

Will Gholston was right there with the heavyweights with 69 percent of the snaps played.

Beau Allen was at 31 percent with Rakeem Nunez-Roches and rookie LB/DE Anthony Nelson both logging 21 percent.

Joe was a bit surprised that Nelson got so much time. Somehere, Noah Spence is wondering what happened.

Watch every road game at Buffalo Wild Wings with Ira Kaufman and JoeBucsFan.com readers. Great giveaways, too. The preseason opener was a blast.

BE THERE THURSDAY ON BIG BEND ROAD IN RIVERVIEW!!!!

Kickoff at 8:20. The fun kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

    A 100% upgrade over GMC

  2. Smashsquatch Says:

Need pressure from the edge. Bucs look stout up front. Suh is an upgrade over McCoy.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

From what I saw…..Suh was a true professional….looked like he was motivated and played well….that’s a good sign.
We don’t have much of a pass rush….but we weren’t burnt much by blitzing….I believe our new speed in the secondary is helping.

  4. Defense Rules Says:

In that heat Joe, 79%, 71% and 69% of the defense snaps is HUGE. Awesome job by Suh, Vea & Will. Still can’t figure out why Beau Allen gets so few snaps each game.

Re-signed Cams nemesis, Safety Andrew Adams

  6. Taylor Says:

Good stuff here, totally agree with the heat and the snaps. They came to play! Hopefully it’s not just week one excitement and they keep on it

  7. 813bucboi Says:

and GMC jumped offsides which led to a rams TD….lol….

    defense played great….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  8. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

When JPP comes back watch out

  9. Bucamania Says:

Suh and Vea were nasty up front. No running room in there.

  10. SOEbuc Says:

Not quite sure if he is, BUT WHITE HAS NO BUSINESS WHAT-SO-EVER WEARING THE GREEN DOT!!! He might have been a great leader in college and he may be in up coming years in the NFL, but LVD was calling out and changing formations all day. Vet multi-Pro Bowler vs. rookie who has really not come even close to what Devin Bush is doing. Needs to change as quickly as they need to move Donovan Smith to RT. Wants again, getting ran around on the back side of the QB for $40 million. I like Licht but that was the dumbest f#cking move made since he’s been here. At least Aguayo was a record setter in college and we DESPERATELY needed a kicker.

“Re-signed Cams nemesis, Safety Andrew Adams.”

Good. He played a good back up role at safety all the time, not just that game. Have no clue how he didn’t at least make somebody third string safety. This pleases me with our very weak safety depth.

  12. Bruce's Biscuit Says:

    Spence was a LB
Point is the rookie fourth-rounder also played LB/DE on Sunday.–Joe

Don’t forget to mention Goldston. He’s always been a good run stopper but we’ve just had sh#t for the rest of the dline before. I think he is gonna be a major part of the run stop also with Vea and Suh this year.

  14. Posey99 Says:

How many snaps did captain carl get?

  15. Waterboy Says:

Hopefully they can recover quickly and be ready to go again for the Thursday night game. Gerald Mccoy should be very well rested.

Whited “green dot” is for coaching between snaps, IMO…he’ll be fine later in the year, he is getting schooled reacting to what he thinks he sees

  17. Sport Says:

SOE – What qualifications are you defining White’s green dot?

Are you on the field of play? Or sidelines identifying whether or not he is communicating the proper calls? See Vernon Hargraves interview notes in Joe’s post below praising him.

    Calm the F down!

    Go Bucs!

    In BA I Trust!

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

FYI……Devin Bush had all sorts of opportunities to make tackles 12 yards down the field with the absolute pounding the Steelers took Sunday…..give White just a couple of games at least before you start calling him a bust…..absurd!!!

  19. Dirks Great Granpappy Says:

Yeah white did terrible with his forced fumble inside our own 30 and shame on him for allowing 17 points. And he has the flu. Give the guy a break. Yeah it’s a shame we didn’t draft josh “1 tackle no sack” Allen instead.

  20. WestChap Says:

Starting DL was great and LVD was All Pro. A few groans from White and Davis, but nothing to get crazy over given other solid plays. My only recurring agitation was #24 Darian Stewart. He seemed to be a recurring presence when Niners were moving the ball in chunks. I guess we’re going to see a lot more of him with Evans to IR.

  21. orlbucfan Says:

At least Suh didn’t do something stupid like a late hit out of bounds. Whoopee-do. The linebackers and secondary came to play Sunday, and proved it. Panthers better be ready for the D Thursday night. GMC knows it. Unlike Kwon, he won’t play stupid and get ejected.

  22. Pugs&Bucs Says:

I have a very long sports memory.

Raheem killed us by winning meaningless games down the stretch and costing us a shot at Suh.

  23. FortMyersDave Says:

Pugs: yeah late wins vs the Saints and Seattle bumped them behind Detroit and Indy in the GMC draft. Not the only time that has happened, Chuckie beat Cleveland once and the W cost the Bucs a shot at Megatron and Joe Thomas and settled for Gaines Adams. Bucs beat Detroit back in 88 and moved from 3 to 6 in the draft where they took Broderick Thomas right after Barry Sanders, Derrick Thomas and Deion Sanders were drafted. Finally, the last game of 2017 saw Jameis actually hit Godwin for a winning TD instead of checking down so the Bucs kicker could lose to the Saints…. Their reward? Picking 7th behind Denver and Indy who took Bradley Chubb and Quentin Nelson. Its a Bucs life man…

    @fortmeyers Dave

    Nice info!

  25. WestChap Says:

FortMyersDave, oh the pain of reading Gaines Adams name… double tragedy.
