The Talk Of Pittsburgh

Radio voice shares buzz

Straight-talkin’ radio analyst of the Buccaneers, Dave Moore, the veteran of 220 NFL games during his playing career, traveled with the team to Pittsburgh and it appears he was bombarded with buzz about one player.

You guessed it: Ronald Jones.

For those unaware, being the team’s official radio color guy is a very part-time job. Moore isn’t at every training camp practice taking notes. He actually owns a bustling insurance agency in St. Pete and Joe is a client. So Moore’s first real immersion with the team and Bucs officials this season likely came Thursday leading up to Friday’s game.

During the Bucs-Steelers broadcast, Moore referenced Jones and the buzz surrounding him.

“Well they’ve been talking a lot about him in camp. And he’s a guy that, just over the last day since we’ve been here, you heard his name several times,” Moore said. “You know, running backs coach Todd McNair is a guy who’s spent a lot of time with him and they were saying that made a big difference helping him understand how to be a pro at this level.”

The last chunk there is key “helping him understand how to be a pro at this level.”  What an indictment of the last coaching staff right there. And it ties to how Jameis Winston said Andre Ellington is a huge key to Jones’ turnaround.

Joe’s not trying to strip responsibility from Jones. But there are a lot of people talking about how the coaching and leadership around Jones is vastly improved.

Joe isn’t all hot in the pants about Jones’ solid four-carry performance on Friday. But it feels good, and it sure fits the narrative the Bucs have presented.

    God I miss those uniforms

There is no question that Rojo has talent……a look at his USC highlights proves that…..the problem for him was in his head and his coaches did nothing to help.
I think they gave up on him early…..and, because Koetter was desperate for an extra win or two….this is why he didn’t get carries late in the season.
The same could be said for Cappa.

  3. Cobraboy Says:

Koetter was in win-now desperation mode. Player development did not register on his staff.

  4. Sport Says:

This is a REAL coaching staff. All you naysayers can jump aboard at anytime.

    Maxi, Bucco Pessimisto etc.

    In BA I Trust!

For all the Buc’s fans shouting for Greedy Williams as the the Buc’s 2nd round pick: Did you see Greedy getting smoked by Case Keenum to Robert Davis touchdown. He did not hustle either after giving beat.

Dave Moore is outstanding at his job, his insight and explanations of what’s going on the field are second to none. He could be on TV with the big boys if he wanted to be.

  7. kyle Says:

unimpressed, man i hear you brother! We had the best looking uniforms! The rags they roll out now look cheap, marketing is trying to hard. They (bucs) should of just focused on a winning product, the whole uniform change was a head scratcher to me.

  8. TOM Says:

Lets not get crazy. It was the first preseason game.

  9. eoschwartz Says:

Good to see Rojo’s burst. He needs to improve his vision and if there’s no daylight to the outside cut it back inside. This offensive line doesn’t blow people off the line but they can create creases, you just have to cut back, that homer in isn’t always gonna be there.

Seeing improvements with him and I like Bowles blitz schemes.

Remember that the Glazers spent the end of the previous season trying to get Chucky out of retirement, rather publicly I might add.

I wonder why Koetter and the team struggled last year.

  11. BucsFan727 Says:

It is pre season but its alot better than last year. Need more olinemen tackle and a guard who can play center.

  12. rrsrq Says:

As much as it is coaching, it also is and should be the lack of respect being shown to the RB room by the outsiders including Bucs fans. The offensive line should also be offended. Play the underdog role, relish it and let it drive them to be better than the league says they are, make them say, sleeper on their fantasy team

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

4 carries and now Ro-Jo is the 2nd coming of Barry Sanders. Tell ya what, Give me a thousand yrd season Ro-Jo then..we can praise your play. Until then? You still gotta prove you are not a..BUST.

  14. mark2001 Says:

Bingo. As I’ve been saying, regarding the young guys that the fans love to skewer in the pretext of them being a “no talent bust”, Coaching…Management…Scheme…Teaching…Accountability….Culture…always make a huge difference in the success of any and every individual and organization. Hallelujah…we finally again have some real coaching in Tampa Bay. And BTW…for those that wonder why we have such a voluminous staff? We have alot of catching up to do with everyone with this team since the Dungy/ Gruden eras…in other words…practically every player.

  15. mark2001 Says:

For those of you unimpressed…So am I…But I’m unimpressed with the myopia and lack of understanding of the importance of good coaching on the part of many Bucs fans.

One year from now…two years from now….you will really know what we have and don’t have. Many of you talk about how far this organization sunk…Did you really think anyone could turn it completely around in six months? Give Bruce and company a chance….some time. There is a ton of work to be done.. And after all, we wily old guys might surprise you.

There are some players dave isn’t high on.
When he is not high on a guy, normally the guy won’t impress.
He he feels ro jo…that’s something to look at

    God I miss those uniforms

Amen! Those were perhaps the best in the league!

  18. B-Rad Says:

Stript of his responsibilities ? Jones was a rookie. Someone else should have
recognize he needed help. If not a coach but a player

  19. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete (formerly known as 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans') ***Rhealist, louden annoying, & tminimum are the worst posters ever!!! Says:

Take away that blown play where Evan Smith tripped, allowing a negative 3-yd run, and Rojo is averaging 7 yds/carry so far this season…

  20. Buccaroo Says:

sounds like Joe’s eating crow 🙂 …now really repent lol

  21. johnw Says:

Started to believe last year’s draft was bust, but now having second thoughts.
