No. 3 RB Decided?

Impressed enough? (Photo courtesy of Buccaneers.com.)

By this time next week, we likely will know the final-53 roster makeup.

On Saturday, teams must whittle rosters down from 90 to 53 by 4 p.m. Then, as Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians has all but promised, the Bucs are going shopping.

That means guys who initially made the cut better not be drinking too much as The Turk may still pay them a visit. Or, he might send an ugly text to get your arse back to the building and by all means, bring your playbook as coach wants to see you.

Well, NFL analyst smart Evan Silva is of the mind one potential bubble player for the Bucs is safe. And that’s Dare Ogunbowale, who Silva believes will be the No. 3 Bucs back this year.

Why is that? Well, Silva is simply reading the tea leaves.

The thing Ogunbowale brings to the table, and to the roster, is something that guys ahead of him on the roster don’t have and that’s the ability to catch a pass.

Peyton Barber is meh at catching balls. Ronald Jones is sketchy. That leaves Ogunbowale.

As Silva pointed out, the Bucs will be throwing a lot. Therefore, it stands to reason the best pass-catching running back on the roster should be safe later in the weekend.

    “Dare I say

Ogunbowale has the best vision and speed hitting the hole

Rut Ro is caught half the time behind the line

Ogunbowale needs to start and the screens are more effective on 1st and 2nd down instead of 3rd down when the defense is waiting ”

He’s also more elusive Joe and I won’t be surprised if he becomes our RB1 early on this season.

  3. gilhealy Says:

    what happened to Bruce Anderson?

  4. Etzel Says:

that’s who it should be. guy runs with the more urgency than the rest of the rb group. payton does the electric slide, while Rojo still looks like a deer in the headlights and goes down by ankle tackles.

  5. NPRSageBoy Says:

The Raiders released Doug Martin. Any takers?

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The question is….will we keep 4 RBs…….the answer is probably, yes…..

Therefore, at this point, it doesn’t matter how they are ranked……Dare could end up being #1 in short order.

Bruce Anderson will be on the PS or he’ll be gone!!!

    Vince McMahon.

    I well-earned promotion.

Does it really matter who is running back with that oline. Even after collecting a couple of bums off the trash heap this line will be embarrassing at best. Jameis’ agent needs to protect his client from this incompetent minor league franchise

    what happened to Bruce Anderson?

    Who? ( 🙂 )

  12. SB Says:

Man I can see that people elsewhere in this Nation are not on the JW3 bandwagon.
I drafted in a money league last yr and I was first position which means I also drafted last overall. Know who I got with that last pick????
I never draft two QBs but I couldn’t leave Jameis out there like that.

  13. macabee Says:

Dare can also pass block and pick up a blitz. That is huge for a RB.

  14. Tc Says:

    Loved him on the screens.

  15. Ghost of Darrell Henderson Says:

I watched highlights of the Rams – Broncos to see how my favorite RB was performing.

On consecutive plays where they needed one yard for a 1st down, they handed it to DH and he was hit immediately in the backfield for a loss. Real imaginative play calling.

He did get 2 runs that went well and ended with 4 rushes for 22 yards.

I was reading a LA scribe that was not impressed by DH and said another RB named Kelly deserved the roster spot.

My mind starting racing. What if they try to sneak Henderson onto the practice squad. The Bucs could then sign him and then tell every one that that was their plan all along. To get two marginal defensive players for free and then end up with the greatest RB in NCAA history. Then I woke up from my dream.

The LA scribe also said that the Rams were going to cut Brandon Allen, a rookie QB that has done great in preseason and could easily start for several NFL teams. Like the Colts. They are going to try to sneak him onto the practice squad.

Dare has been awesome. Him and Tanner Hudson need to be on the field. Would love to see Brate traded for a RG and see Cappa moved to RT.

  17. TiredBucFan Says:

Dare has looked like the best all around RB on the team. I like the kid, give him a shot.

What a dumb faker right here. Screens are more effective on 1st and 2nd downs (typically running downs) than on 3rd down when teams are expected to pass? You really don’t know the first thing about football, do you? Screens are most effective to catch a defense in a blitz. You see, when teams blitz, they generally play tight man or very loose zone, send more players after the QB than the OL can block… and that’s where the QB draws the defenders in as the OL lets them past so they can get downfield to block. That’s how screens work… against the pass. The harder a defense goes after the QB, the more effective a screen is.

That being said, unless its an obvious passing situation on 1st and 2nd down, most screens are ran on 3rd down.. and again, you are proven to know nothing about football and if you were smarter you would stop opening your mouth and proving your ignorance.

  19. Phil Says:

Dare looks like the best running back and Tanner Hudson needs to play.

  20. BrianBucs Says:

I like this kid. He plays hard and runs hard. Maybe should be #2 RB

  21. Marques Says:

He should of been on the 53 last year!!!!

  22. joestang Says:

How does Dare not become the 2nd back. RoJo sucks and he;s proving it time in and time out. Cut RoJo before its to late. Another wasted pick by Licht.

  23. Kobe Faker Says:

    “Dare I say

Kobe Hopes his 1989 chevy beretta never breaks down in Brandon FL

Someone will run me the hell over”

  24. BucEmUp Says:

I hate having a passing down back. Its a dead giveaway what the options are limited to when one or the other is in the game

Dare has ran very well and.has looked like the best overall back. Although I would love yo see Jones catching some slants/screens Dare wouldnt surprise me.if he ended up bring the most productive back on the team this year.

    Good signing

  25. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Honestly it’s Peyton Barber who has been most disappointing this summer. He seems out of place in this offense and I believe he’s on the bubble. I like Dare. Like his athleticism and he seems to play with a nice chip on his shoulder.

  26. BetterBucFan Says:

Don’t know why a certain someone is obsessed with Darrell Henderson.

  27. TDTB Says:

They should trade for Duke Johnson…oh wait too late for that. Maybe sign Ajai for league minimum then…oh, too late for that too. Licht is always a day late and dollar short. McCoy and Jackson were both held too long. Should have traded Kwon when Beckwith started to emerge (It would have been the right move at the time even though we now know Beckwith would end up injured). Brate is the next one. He’s going to hold on too long and miss out. The right move is to trade Brate for an o-lineman or RB NOW. NE is the right dance partner but my guess is they’re too savvy to pay. They’ll probably wait and grab Hutson off the practice squad when the Bucs try to stash him there when they add a lineman after the initial 53 cut down.

  28. Clw JB Says:

Definitely the RB3 and will get his share of looks – I am pretty happy with the 3 headed attack

We have a bruiser in PB, a slasher in ROJO, and a do-it-all-back in Dare

If either of the top 2 go down, Dare can fill both roles..

    Who is Bruce Anderson?
