Bucs Sign Former Eagles Sixth-Round Pick

August 19th, 2019

The Bucs signed another Super Bowl champion today.

They were getting light on those after launching Evan Smith last week.

The Tampa Bay defensive line was fortified today by Elijah Qualls, who joined the Panthers before training camp and then was cut and landed with Baltimore a week later. Now he’s a Buccaneer.

Qualls was as sixth-round pick of the Eagles in 2017, when he played in six games and scored a Super Bowl ring, though he did not play during that postseason.

Joe finds it interesting that savvy personnel teams in Carolina and Baltimore thought Qualls, 24, was worth a hard look. Yes, the passed, but perhaps something is there.

The Bucs have injuries to Vita Vea and Jeremiah Ledbetter at defensive tackle. And Qualls’ former Eagles teammate Beau Allen has battled an oblique muscle strain this summer but he played pretty well against the Dolphins on Friday.

bucfan calls one year wonders legends so calling qualls a superbowl champion is very consistent

Iamabuc I hope both you and TPax meet up with this man so he can show you his ring and you can compare them to the batman decoder rings you wear. Last rings you were awarded were ringworms.

TMAX…is spot on and until the fan base raises the bar this is the crap that the bucs have become…look at all the playoff teams and the teams with losing records what they have done. They all are improving with talent likethe bears, browns, bills, niners, jets and then there are the bucs who make 5-11 moves

The DT who played next to Vita at Washington just got injured and released and this guy played on the other side of Vita for the Huskies.

Quick everybody- get your negative takes out there for all to see! Its what we are all waiting for.

  14. Pittsshore Says:

Goes along with the theme of the 24th rate QB labeled as America’s QB.

  15. Defense Rules Says:

Oh for heaven’s sake, he’s a freebie. We’ve got 2 more preseason games to go, Vea’s hurt and Allen’s aching too. Don’t want to get Suh banged up in preseason. What’s the big deal? Do any of you REALLY expect Qualls to be on the roster come Sept 8th? And if he is, we’ve got MAJOR problems.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Joe is quite enamored with “has a ring” players…..even if they didn’t contribute much to their team’s achievement…..
Wow….this guy or that guy has been to the SB!!!! Excited….
He can wear his ring while moving mattresses.

  17. BA FAN Says:

Consider the fact that Licht could have asked both Vea who played with him at Washington and Beau Allen who played with him with the Eagles to find out how good a player this fellow is, what his attitude is like, and what kind of teammate he is and how strong is he, before we picked him up. Now the BA Coaches will try to develop him and we can probably see him in action Friday week. He is 6’1” and 320 pounds and Washington and the Eagles both have good Coaches so we don’t have to get him up to NFL speed. Roches didn’t particularly thrill me last year but after BA development he now is outstanding against the run and puts pressure on QBs. Licht made a great pick when he got a DE from the Browns last year too.

what’s the difference with you guys hanging onto one year wonders with an expired championship nearly two decades ago. seems like you are being a little hypocritical… so one year wonders are legends in tamps but if they are on any other roster they are irrelevant. i see lol…

  19. jjbucfan Says:

The pack of non Bucs fans are out in full force today, lol. We have good reason to be optimistic but these fools have not one compliment for a single player or coach. Tmax, you used to actually have good analysis of our games, what happened bro? C’mon man, we want that guy back. Not the guy that picks a player and trimmed to destroy his career.

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

Seriously you can find some good stuff dumpster diving.

Glazer’s give us reason for no hope. You have to try really hard to be this bad for this long.

I like several players but none of the holdovers from the cancer93 regime they simply don’t know how to win. I feel horrible that jameis and evans will never experience the postseason in Tampa glazers wiill not allow it

  22. tickrdr Says:

I wonder if he is related to Jimmy Qualls, one of the many Cubs marginal players, who hit 0.223 for his career, with only 10 RBIs. He did break up Tom Seaver’s bid for a perfect game, when he singled in the ninth.

  24. Clean House Says:

Retaining the king of this dumpster fire says it all

  25. Clean House Says:

And the self proclaimed Qb whisperer will quit on this circus soon enough

  26. Clean House Says:

    He’s full of it too

  27. jjbucfan Says:

Tmax- I think we will surprise everyone. Koetter and Smitty were THAT bad. Just wait to see how bad the Falcons will be. Matt Ryan probably WTF? I gotta deal with this guy again? LOL.

  28. Ben real Says:

Imabuc if you play significant time with a team even if you don’t play in the post season and that team wins the super bowl yes your a super bow champion and you get a ring

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If anything, this tells me Arians is going to play starters less than expected this week.

  31. BucsFan727 Says:

Heck BAs been a 2 time coach of the year. Im going to give him a chance to teach the smart ones before I judge the players and or BA and his crew. Atleast where going to find out if Winston stays and how bad Koeter was or how bad Licht is. They might as well clean house and start over if BA cant fix the team. 2 years..3 years..I hope BA works his magic and these players get a fire lit unfer there asses .. I hope the kids get this coaching hire right this time. Because the only variable thats the same in this last decade would be the the owners.
