Light Work For Starters, Second-Teamers In Next Preseason Game

August 13th, 2019

There is a down side to joint practices with the Miami Dolphins at One Buc Palace this week.

All that work will translate to not a load of time for first- and second-team players in Friday’s preseason home opener Friday at the Den of Depression.

Bucco Bruce Arians made that clear after practice today, saying the great work for the top guys in practice against the Dolphins will mean lighter-than-usual work Friday.

The first-team Arians offense had just one glorious series last Friday in Pittsburgh, an 81-yard touchdown drive with Jameis Winston going 5-of-6 with one touchdown pass.

That leaves Friday, Aug. 23, against the Browns for the Bucs’ big guns to get serious work, since there’s no way they will play in the preseason finale in Dallas.

Joe will be very interested to see how Arians approaches that Browns preseason game.

Thank God JW is not holding that child, as he would be dropped/fumbled

  2. FairMinded Says:

Why are some people even fans of this team if all they do is make negative comments? Go watch competitive Cornholing then and save yourself the anxiety attacks you evidently get from rooting (?) for the Bucs

  3. Rayjay1122 Says:

Just an idiot seeking attention. Just have to skip reading some people’s comments.

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

    Just stay healthy.

  6. VegasBuc Says:

I can’t imagine being a Bucs fan and having nothing but negativity to say. Must be a sad, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, life. Not having hope. Not having anything to look forward to. I understand it’s been a bad 16 years, but at least I don’t expect it to continue. I expect improvement. I expect nothing but UPS from rock bottom. I wouldn’t ever feel good about believing we’ll continue to be the bottom of the league. I just don’t accept it. But negative people always speak the loudest…SAD. For the rest of us… Go BUCS!!

  7. Magadude Says:

Wish the Bucs had a proven leader at the QB position. Maybe next year.

  8. Magadude Says:

Hall of Famer spotted! #14…400 yards three consecutive games. Yards that actually meant something. But alas…the success could not continue. Our season struck down by two turnover machines the rest of the year. But it as fun while it lasted.

  9. Tom S. Says:

Funny to see “Bucs fans” complaining about posters on a message board and not the product on the field they’ve witnessed the past 11 years. You really figured out the root of our problems guys! It’s the posters at JBF! Good job you super sleuths!

Bartender, check to see what is in these “diehards” drinks. I’m worried it might cause brain damage.

  10. Tom S. Says:

If watching an NFL season go to waste by October was the equivalent of a concussion, the majority people on this site would have CTE for watching Jason Licht built teams alone.

Now tell me to root for the Browns you diehard schmucks.

  11. Magadude Says:

@Tom S….can’t disagree. Die-hards need to bust the players and coaches chops…not the posters’ who who defend sorry play and mediocrity. They need to perform with RESULTS or GET OUT. It’s not garbage yards and blame blame blame. It is time to WIN WIN WIN! 40+ years of this…I am FINE with givin’ ’em he!!.

  12. ben Says:

Why does Licht still have a job ?? why aren’t fans pissed ?? Having a terrible lousing crappy team for years and not having cash to sigh top name players is a joke … the rest of the nfl is laughing.

  13. DT25 Says:

Just saying…your brand of “diehards” who just tear apart everything the team does before the season’s even begun are just sad. We get it, you “care so much about the team that you can’t stand to see how mediocre it is.” Well boo hoo, nobody cares. If Arians and Bowles turn this team around…and you bet your ass it is possible that happens, I bet you “diehards” vanish into thin air. Some fans only exist to complain, it seems. And some seem to prefer the team be awful to justify their negativity than actually want the team to improve. Jameis wouldn’t be the first QB in history to improve drastically with a coaching change. The team wouldn’t be the first in history to make a drastic turnaround in a single season with a coaching change (hell, a team has gone last to first in their division in all but 2 years in the past DECADE). Acting like the team is going to suck is fine, just go be miserable by yourself. Bucs fans who can see some potential for success are sick of hearing your B.S. and literally none of us know how the season will play out yet.

  14. runnerdoc Says:

Hall of Famer is now with his 8th NFL teams. 7 teams missed it!

  15. mp8499 Says:

Im looking all over, I dont see Sapp, Brooks, Alstott, Lynch, Ronde, Not even Mike evans. I see a guy who is a bad qb standing next to a guy who is on the cusp of becoming either a success or the biggest letdown since the Freeman.

    Luv the photo here Joe.

  17. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

Fitzpatrick already has his foot in the door in Canton. They have his jersey hanging there. Consult the interwebs if you don’t believe me.

ME13 and GMC are the other HOF talents from last season.

The Beard is a top 3 qb in the league, in the mix with Brees, Arod and TB12. The man has started and produced for every team he’s been on. Landed some fat contracts out of it. There is a reason he is still an NFL starter after all these years.

Frankly, an incomparable career in the history of the NFL.

  18. Hodad Says:

The HOFer will be replaced by Rosen before game four, if he doesn’t start game one.

  19. Swampbuc Says:

Are people trying to say Fitzpatrick is a good quarterback and will be in the Hall of Fame? Seriously? SERIOUSLY??

    Wow.

Ron White is correct — you can’t fix stupid.

  20. BucEmUp Says:

    Really good photo here.

Bunch of ass clowns on these comments. Get a damn life. You wanna hate the guy then hate him,but constantly bashing him for no reason just shows what lonely, sad, pathetic losers you really are. I sincerely hope Jamies has his best season so we can call every last one of you out when you either have nothing to say or try and switch sides.

    Idiots

  21. Dapostman Says:

Posters like Magadud are clueless in thinking the Bucs brass and players are listening to there blog opinions. The only thing that will move the needle is when people STOP watching the Bucs either in person or on TV. Ranting about how bad they’ve been hasn’t helped since 2008 but posters feel the need to ‘let them have it’. Keep it up dorks. I get my daily entertainment reading some of these posts. I guess I should include super dork TMax to the list. What ever will TMax have to rail against if the Bucs start winning? I’m sure he’ll find something wrong with Ray Jay or something.

  22. Dewey Selmon Says:

Fitz gave me more to cheer about last year than anything else.

  23. Dewey Selmon Says:

Majority of folks on here had the Bucs 0-3 before our savior Jameis Christ was to return and take us to the promised land. Fitz had us at 2-0 and him wearing Djax clothes and we were the talk of the NFL. seems so long ago.

  24. FairMinded Says:

Buncha CANTS (best read with Aussie accent)

  25. Magadude Says:

@SwampBuc…Fitz broke an NFL record and his jersey’s already been sent. You can see the pictures of it. Dewey’s right, Fitz gave us more to cheer about last year than anything else. Still the best team guy and leader at the position since probably Jeff Garcia. Free and Winston blew that all the pieces.

  26. Magadude Says:

^^^And no, Garcia wasn’t great (at being a leader) but he blew the doors off of Freeman and Winston. Goes to show the drought in this town for QB worth his salt. Maybe next year.

  27. DB55 Says:

    You guys are MEGADUMB

  28. Go Bucs 72 Says:

    Fitztragic is terrible.

  29. Dark Mominick Says:

Yeah and Cadillac Williams’ cleats went to the HOF for how many rushing yards he had for his first 3 games back in 2005. It’s inconsequential that Fitz’s jersey went to Canton for those 3 games last year, he’s consistently proved that he cant be consistent throughout 16 games with any of the teams he’s played. He is a proven journeyman back up quarterback that can spot the starter for a few games but once the kitchen gets hot he gets cold. It’s so easy for the uneducated to point a finger at Winston but that is why they’ll learn the hard way. Winston has gotten better every year but hasn’t put it all together for 16 games since 2016. If he continues to improve and plays every game this year it will be more obvious to the casual fan that Winston was the right choice in the 2015 nfl draft.

  30. Magadude Says:

Winston has gotten better every year….

that is he wasn’t suspended for conduct…things a five year old knows not to do…the second NFL QB in history to get such a rap.

  31. Pittsshore Says:

Hahaha. JW three two pick sixes today during 11 on 11 practice. Same woeful coward when under real pressure. We flushed 21 millions on this clown. Pretty sad

  32. Pittsshore Says:

  33. Buc1987 Says:

In fact it’s not even close. Most of us actually could care LESS!!!

Keep up the good… wtf-ever it is.

    Go Bucs!

    Go Jameis!

  34. Buc1987 Says:

Pittsshore….I let your posts speak for themselves. If EVER there was someone inflicted with Winston Derangement Syndrome…it’s you. Or is it infatuation? Are you infatuated with Jameis?

Why is almost always a troll that gets first comment lol

  36. Rod Munch Says:

18 regular season games, 2 preseason games, 2 weeks of bye weeks during the regular season, expand the roster to 60-62 players, players get paid for 3 extra games since the TV season goes from 17 weeks to 20 – everyone should be happy since it means more meaningful football without a month of completely meaningless games that less meaningful every year.

  37. D1 Says:

    Dark mom,

“Jameis has gotten better every year”, what exactly has gotten better every year?

I ask because that opinion is not shared by anyone other than a few winston fans. Nationally, the opinion is something different. Two different views of one player with one side saying he’s improved every year. The other saying he’s regressed and BA is here to salvage winston and if not he’s gone and so is winston.

    Quite a dilemma. …

  38. Oneilbucs Says:

Jamies is the most hated quarterback in the NFL. How come Philip Rivers never played in a super bowl or never get criticized for not going??? How come Wentz need a running game to help him or Luck needed a hold team but Jamies shouldn’t need the same thing they need???? Please answer the question lol lol lol lol!!

Hey, to beat the best division rival in their house on opening day and the SB champs to start 2-0…that was amazing. Pretty sure I said it wasn’t to last, but it beats Winston’s 4,000 yard season with nothing to show for it but a suspension and poor character in his fourth year, when franchise QBs are actually starting to blossom. Bottom tier “Picks” Winston is what he is.

Cadillac and Fitz’s accomplishments ARE consequential…that was the consequences. You are right, Fitz has indeed proven he’s inconsistent throughout the season…and IS pretty much a backup. And it’s taken Winston only four years to accomplish that feat, with a supsension for off-field idiocy to boot. Oh sure, like Winston is consistent in anything? That’s hilariious!

Consequences of Winston so far: 1. He’s a turnover machine who puts an already terrible defense in a bigger hole. 2. He hurts his team at a time they needed him to step in and lead.

Yeah, let’s see how consistent he is this year. Let’s start with seeing if he actually makes it to opening day being alloweed to be AT his team’s game. Then let’s see him be “consistent” in his play. Right now, there is good reason he’s got nothing past this season inked in.

D1, don’t you know? Winston’s stats PROVES, and it is “irrefutable” he’s on a HoF path. The same logic also PROVES he will be the first NFL QB to land on the moon in just 15 short years. Game changer! Don’t be such a hater! FALSE NARRATIVE!!!!!!!!

Stats are for losers. D1, you continue to impress me with your well-thought questions. Great post.

  46. Fragis Says:

Surprised July Joe1of1 isn’t all over this thread defending the honor of his boy Jameis. Speaking of, did anyone happen to hear Fraud1of1 on JP Peterson’s internet radio show yesterday? Guy sounded just as I thought he would – like a biased huckster who reads from cue cards about how wonderful Jameis is based on a very specific set of stats. JP asked him about some other stuff from his “book” and poor Fraud1of1 couldn’t really answer because “well, I didn’t have the questions you were going to ask before coming on.” Of course, JP is a famous Jameis apologist (“if you don’t like Jameis, you’re either a Gator fan or a racist”) and ate up the few inherently flawed and biased stats that Fraud1of1 was able to recite. Was a great listen if you’re into fanboys who like to tickle fight each over who loves a mediocre (at best) QB more…..

  47. Magadude Says:

@Fragis…consider surrogates with pseudos for pseudos. Just old fashioned UW methodology.

I’d listen to a radio show on how to make engineered soy bean patties before I’d listen to anything featuring JPP. Some guys might think he’s okay though. If you haven’t bought the book, I recommend you do. I found it highly flawed, but it’s a good look into how some folks view it…pretty much for same reason you laud the radio show’s listen. I like to see all sides.

  48. ChipBuc Says:

I see all the Jameis haters are out in force today. Here’s an idea, why don’t you start your own site to bash Jameis. Think of the possibilities, all the same minded people spewing all the hate and no one to correct you when your wrong. You can call it “Winston’s a bum club” , or “No matter what Winston does, he’s still a bum club”. Seriously do you people really believe all this crap you spew? It must be wonderful to be as all knowing as you haters are. Here’s a tip just because you say it, it doesn’t make it true. Your opinion is no more valid than mine, so next time you bash Winston, just remember there are just as many people who disagree with you. Just saying!!!!

  49. Magadude Says:

@ChipBuc…why do that? We are Bucs fans and talk the issues…opinions…what’s funny is you are by default trying to say those who aren’t all in on Winston (who apparently don’t agree with you) shouldn’t be here. Why? For me, I owe Winston no further allegiance until he earns his way BACK from what he threw away. I hope he does well because it means my team might do well. Short of that, I hope he is finally on the right track on and off the field but he has to prove that over time with me. I have been clear he needs to play lights out all year, keep his nose clean off the field, and stay out of the news for all the wrong reasons through the end of this season. That is not an unreasonable condition set. You are right: Just because someone says something doesn’t make it true. That’s what the world of information is about. Yes, disagreement is good. But it is YOU telling those who disagree to get lost, to find another place. Do a little self-evaluation. The good thing is Joe gets it…doesn’t waste time trying to moderate here. You should buy and read the book out on Winston. You may like it.

  50. RODNEY ALLEN Says:

Yeah those of u who think Fitzpatrick is a HOFer r either smokin crack or lost ur d@mn mind 🤷‍♂️ #backupquarterback
I cant believe im saying this lol but hodad is right rosen wi take over for dolphins by week 4 if not sooner

  51. July Joe Says:

@Magadude has no problem with Jeff Garcia, a former Buccaneer QB with an actual arrest record, but he can’t stomach Jameis who has NEVER been arrested in his whole life.

In the deranged mind of @magadude, Jameis being “accused” of something there is no proof he actually did (and a ton of evidence to show the accuser may have been lying) is far worse than ditching the mother of your child and cheating on games (Tom Brady), getting hooked on drugs and having to enter rehabilitation multiple times while also being a wild man off the field (Brett Favre), disowning your own mother and father while treating teammates and coaches like garbage (Aaron Rodgers), or drunk driving which could KILL people (Jeff Garcia).

But, guess what … ALL those QBs were white … and Jameis … well, isn’t …

  52. CLAY TRAVIS Says:

    How dare you “July Joe”!

I know @magadude personally, so, so personally, and I can guarantee you that he has a black friend, so there’s no way he’s racist.

And, just because he uses the “hard ‘r'” when talking to me about JAY-MISS does not mean he’s racist anymore than that guy in the Chris Cuomo video who used “Fredo” was.

You’re just a JAY-MISS apologist and think JAY-MISS can do no wrong!

Well, let me tell you, me and my cuddle-buddy @Magadude would rather have a QB that could KILL PEOPLE drunk driving (Jeff Garcia) and who throws away the mother of his child and cheats on games and misses 25% of a season for cheating (Tom Brady) and disowns his own mother and father while also apparently taking advantage of his gay lover (Aaron Rodgers), and gets hooked on drugs, has to enter rehab multiple times and later sends a dick pick to some reporter while married (Brett Favre) before we would want a “bad leader” like JAY-MISS!

The fact that all those QBs were white and the fact that JAY-MISS is black doesn’t mean we are racist at all!

The fact that Jefff Garcia has a criminal record and could have KILLED someone and we support him and he’s white, while we don’t support JAY-MISS who has never been arrested for anything ever and he’s black does not mean we are racist.

SO, SHUT UP “July Joe”, you’re the racist!

WE WILL RUN JAY-MISS AND HIS KIND OUT OF TAMPA FOR WE ARE LEGION!
