Devin White Reached Out To Luke Kuechly

August 7th, 2019

This reminds Joe of when former Bucs offensive coordinator Greg Olson had his old college student, Drew Brees, give then-Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman a few tips.

It’s odd for a player to help another in the same division. Heck, it even feels weird to have guys in the same conference do it.

Joe brings this up because Bucs rookie savior linebacker Devin White told Kurt Warner today on NFL Network that he contacted Luke Kuechly and Derrick Brooks for guidance on leading the way for the Bucs defense.

Of course, Joe gets reaching out to Brooks, but Kuechly? That’s very cool — and unique — if Kuechly helped him out.

Kuechly is renowned for being the ultimate on-field leader who knows what the opposing offense is doing before it happens.

White said he pushing for an extreme mastery of the Bucs defense. “If you can know what’s coming and how it’s coming, you can play fast,” he said.

White added that one of his greatest early challenges is getting Bucs defenders to take him seriously, as in as the vocal and mental leader of the defense.

Don’t let NOSBOS find out about this.

Freeman had his best season after working with Drew. Drew is probably as good as anyone when it comes to accuracy. Think that really helped Josh at least for that year. Might have turned out different if he would of kept working with him and kept his nose clean. Luke definitely has things to say to help Devin.
