Bruce Arians: Jack Cichy Has Made The 53-Man Roster

August 29th, 2019

Impressed

An answer has arrived.

A small percentage of Bucs fans care about the bottom-of-the-roster players and who makes the initial 53-man roster, even if some of those players get cut hours later.

One bubble player who definitely made the roster is linebacker Jack Cichy, a sixth-round pick last year who had knee injuries in college and last season.

He bounced back in training camp and did enough to impress Bucco Bruce Arians. The head coach told the Buccaneers Radio Network after tonight’s preseason game that Cichy made the 53-man roster. “Smart, heady, high-motor player who’s going to be on our team,” Arians said, noting Cichy will help the Bucs in 2019.

Congrats to Cichy, who had some big plays tonight while also whiffing on three tackles in the first half. He’s got speed, and that certainly was a focus of Arians and company this offseason.

Kid has a great game and skill set. I really really really hope he can stay healthy because hes a stud if he can.

  4. Buccaroo Says:

If he makes it then the question is who didn’t? or is it JPP’s spot for now.

So another win for jason licht

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Huh, interesting. I thought with the way he played tonight there would be no way he’d make the team – not that I think he’s bad, I just don’t think anyone else would sign him so he’d get through to the PS where he could get back to full speed before coming up to the main roster. But I’m fine with being wrong and hopefully he can tackle better than he did tonight. He did show good burst on that sack he had, that was super solid, but wow did he miss a ton of tackles. But if he’s been making those tackles in practice, maybe it was just an off night.

  7. Hodad Says:

Cichy coming off an ACL mind you played great. Justin Evans has been no where to found with a bad toe? Cut the bum already. You can only keep a high draft choice so long, at some point they have to actually play. Another in a long line of Licht’s second round busts. It looks like Bunting will be the next. Dude hasn’t made one play in four preseason games, taken at the top of the second round. He sucks!

Its tougher to make lakeway high school roster in Austin texas than it is to make bucs high school roster

    4-12

cichy missed on as many plays as he made…i was as unimpressed as i was impressed…a couple splashy plays and a few wifferoonies…

get it together jack we need you…that spence guy has flopped out and you gotta take his place…

    well theoretically at least

  10. BucemBruski Says:

Seen a lot of good from him and a lot of real bad tonight and that was against fringe roster players. So we will see. oh and hi Tmax let me introduce myself I am Bruce or Bruski. I know you are hated by most here but I just think you’re over the line passionate. Look at our roster we had Lovies 2nd year where we went 6-10 and tell me our teams talent isnt way better today. We may not be a great team this year but our talent level definately is way better. Oh and coaching too. 8-8 is my floor. Oh and I know I may be way off

He said making the team was a Cinch.

    Licht is biased.

He forces Benenoch and Cappa into the starting RG spot, when neither one of them is stout or thick or quick.

They were both tackles in college. 6-5 and 6-6 by the way.

They are too tall with skinny legs and butts.

A guard should look like Davin Joseph.

    ________

Davin Joseph was also a tackle in college. STFU with the stupidity already.

Tmax’s comments have rendered his as relevant as a parenthetical expression. He is likened to as comedic break in a movie, except this is reality not fantasy. When gmac was released, it was assumed that the catcalls would stop, because tmaxs whipping boy was gone. But I admit that I was indeed wrong. The negativity as grown to include everyone including the waterboy!

he played well last night….he deserves to make the team….

    GO BUCS!!!!

  16. mark2001 Says:

LOL..so much for the armchair experts… names not to be mentioned…that had Cinchy off the 53 and on the PS at best. Just shows how much the “armchair experts” know.

  17. mark2001 Says:

I really do have to laugh. Our coaches have years of experience, miles of tape to watch, and practice upon practice….medical reports…interaction with the players on the field and in the classroom. They study them hours upon end. So they know the players far better then we do. Yet we think we know who is what and who is doing what…which players have the where with all to make this team and grow…to fulfill the roll the coaches have in mind for them. Then we try to sound like the experts on player evaluation and such. Wow. It is like a auto repair guy telling a brain surgeon how to do his job. Just saying.

  18. unbelievable Says:

He had 1 or 2 nice plays in the beginning of the game, but damn he was missing tackles left and right after that. And that’s against mostly scrubs.

Like every other year, it seems depth will be our achilles this year too.

  19. mark2001 Says:

unbelievable…won’t question your perception…but also remember, he came off a season ending injury, likely not at all in “football readiness shape”, and showed Arians many things he likes on a daily basis. I’ll leave the player evaluation to Arians.
