Achilles Issue For Donovan Smith

July 28th, 2019

Floppy hat duty for Donovan Smith

When a guy who rarely misses practice and never misses a game is carrying towels and wearing sneakers, Joe has to pay extra attention.

Bucco Bruce Arians says Donovan Smith has an Achilles issue that’s not serious.

No big deal, Coach said after practice.

Hopefully, that’s accurate. Regardless, it sure seemed to upset practice as the Bucs’ offensive line didn’t exactly have a strong showing during its first day in pads, and that’s Arians talking. Joe will have more on that later.

Mike Lietdke, Caleb Benenoch. They’re getting plenty of work. Arians didn’t say when Smith will return to practice.

    Get liedeke some reps.

Ouch. This news hurts. NFL teams never let on to how severe injuries are. Cannot trust that a injury is minor unless the player is on the field.

Hopefully there will be better news in a day or say and he gets back on the field.

I popped my Achilles and one thing I learned about it…
Anything to do with your Achilles is always serious

Figures after signing fat bloated contract. #32 out of 32 starting LT’s

  5. BA FAN Says:

It happened before when D. Smith lost two Preseason Games due to injury too.
Perhaps he is too lazy in the off season to get in shape to play in pads. It was telling yesterday when Spense knocked him to the ground. Oh well finally Liedtke gets the opportunity to show what he can do again and will show up D. Smith once again. I suspect Watford who played Tackle for BA in Arizona can outplay D. Smith as well. D. Smith should be our third best LT and really belongs with the third string and be forced to work his way up in the Preseason. Still he will always need a TE next to him anytime he is faced with a speed rusher. He doesn’t have enough quickness to play LT to stop speed rushers. He needs to have been developed as an OG from the start!

Ronde Barber would always say its the players that dont continue to train in the offseason are the ones who get hurt. I think Smith is one of the few that I haven’t heard Arians rave about. I hope this isnt serious but an Achilles is one of those injuries that seem to never be minor. Next man up

If it was serious he wouldn’t have even been out there walking on it.

I heared it was Spence who knocked him over and his own heels hit and clicked hitting each other. Spence taking full advantage of JPP being out. But we all know we need a new line. Marpet is the exception here though. Seriously are first two picks need to be oline men next year.

  9. Father Rico Says:

D Smith got paid this offseason, parked his lazy azz at the buffet, skipped all the OTAs, spending his first couple of practices on his azz….

He wanted NO PART of that hungry defense when the pads came on.

Ugh. THIS will be the weak link all year IF he makes it out of training camp.

Predict his worst year ever, Jamies better have his head on a swivel!

  10. Jeff Says:

This is VERY serious. He may not practice the rest of the preseason.

  11. TOM Says:

I’ve been saying for a long time what a fat lazy ass he was. Even going back to his college days. When Spence got through with him his achilles wasn’t the only that was hurting. Hey Licht, don’t you think you should give his fat ass a bonus?

    Achilles?

Oh boy. Good thing we just signed him to a fat new contract!
