Two Bucs Make Top-100

June 21st, 2019

Which Bucs made list?

Forget that noise about the NFL Network’s Top-100 Players list. Go with an unequaled football authority.

And that would be prickly Pete Prisco of CBS Sports. Prisco again released his annual summertime feature in which he tries to select the best 100 players in the NFL entering training camp.

And while former Bucs coaches Dirk Koetter and Father Dungy along with current coach Bucco Bruce Arians boast how much talent the Bucs have, Prisco isn’t feeling it. He has a grand total of two Bucs players on his list, and none in his top-85.

At No. 86, Prisco selects Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans. Of Evans, Prisco types, “He led all receivers with at least 50 or more catches with a per-catch average of 17.7. He also caught 86 passes with eight touchdowns.”

Joe really does believe with the numbers Evans is putting up, it is not obscene to suggest he could be putting together a Hall of Fame career. While this shouldn’t count, losing seasons currently are the only thing tainting Evans. No, that’s not his fault.

Evans is clearly the best wide receiver the Bucs have ever had.

Prisco slips in Lavonte David at No. 92. Maybe the most underrated linebacker in the NFL, count Prisco as a fan as Prisco writes, “He is an off-the-ball linebacker, which is why he doesn’t get the due he deserves. It’s hard to believe he’s never been to the Pro Bowl.”

Well, David has been to one Pro Bowl but Joe gets where Prisco is coming from. David should be a fixture at the Pro Bowl as Evans already is.

So why is it folks outside One Buc Palace don’t think much of the Bucs’ stock of talent, but once paid and former paid employees of the Bucs step inside One Buc Palace, they are overcome with the alleged talent on the Bucs’ roster?

Given the fact the Bucs have lost 22 games the past two seasons, it seems the people outside looking in are more accurate than those preaching from the inside.

Joe hopes that changes damn soon.

I wake up every day celebrating the “outside” overlooking us. “Nothing to see here guys, move along.”

The Bucs will open 6-0 due to this seismic oversight.

When I prove to be right, Joe, will you anoint me as the NEW SAGE, even though I can’t stomach beet salad?

  2. Joe Says:

When I prove to be right, Joe, will you anoint me as the NEW SAGE,

There is only one Sage of Tampa Bay sports but Joe will be happy to buy you dinner at Taco Bell.

  3. Sport Says:

We deserve everything that is said about us, because that’s what we’ve shown.

This team has to create an identity and execute consistently, then we will have EARNED respect.

    In BA I Trust!

  4. SCBucsFan Says:

Joe – when did you start anointing? Can I apply too?

  5. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Interesting the Suh is not on the list.

Neither are any of the players we lost this year.

  6. rhenry Says:

I love Taco Bell. The secret is to tell them to hold the meat filler. Trust me, since it is only a teaspoon full anyways, you won’t miss it.

  7. El Buco Realisto Says:

When the sage gives the speech of why ME13 should be in the hall of fame, his best argument will be how the inaccurate, inconsistent fold like a lawn chair qb, jmiss has held him back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. 813bucboi Says:

    no SUH?…..

    he’s a top 100 player for sure….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  9. D-Rome Says:

There should be no question Mike Evans is putting together a future Hall of Fame career.

It’s no surprise to me to see Evans and Lavonte David on the list. Did anyone else notice which players weren’t on the list? Jay-Miss and every player the Bucs didn’t re-sign this off season.

  10. Joe Says:

When the sage gives the speech of why ME13 should be in the hall of fame

Pretty sure Ira just hopes to be on this side of the ground when Evans is eligible for a Hall presentation. You are talking 2035.

  11. Couch Fan Says:

Talent and production are 2 different things. Arians said we have talent. Unproven talent. A top 100 list obviously would have to be about production not talent. Thats not saying they are talented, of course they are but you seem to think they are 1 in the same. Not correct. Bucs are talented. They just are uproven and need to be coached up.

  12. ATrain Says:

If Evans was on NE or The cowgirls he would be too 10

    Bucs overlooked ALWAYS

    EVANS IS THE MAN

86 and is top receiver in the game PLEASE

  13. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

todd, todd, todd, todd….have you not watched the bucs the past few years? 3-3 will be a reach

  14. WyldKat Says:

Imagine what numbers Mike Evans would be putting up if he got more passes thrown to him that could be caught in stride.

Yes, this is a knock on Winston’s accuracy and also the play design and calling.

And if I was talking DJax, I would have stopped with “could be caught”. Hello, Darkness, my old friend.

  15. unbelievable Says:

There are 32 teams in the league. That would average out to about 3 players per team being in the top-100, so only having 2 isn’t really that surprising considering how bad this team has been.

Who else on this roster deserves to be in the top-100?

Maybe JPP before his injury. Or maybe Suh… but that’s about it. D. White hasn’t played a down yet so you can’t put his name on there.

  16. Todd Says:

    Duthsty—

“todd, todd, todd, todd….have you not watched the bucs the past few years? 3-3 will be a reach”

I watched every game coached by NOT BA & Company. I saw an entirely different roster with malcontents and a DL “me, me, me” Batman wannabe who is something that rhymes with tussy. This year’s Bucs is not anything remotely associated with the historical Bucs…at least by the time the first game is played.

I don’t have weapons-grade delusion that relegated me to the past. I’m not obsessively histrionic. It’s partly sunny, not partly cloudy.

We’ll open 6-0…if not, give me sh!t then. I’ll take it.

In the meantime, let me enjoy my optimistic outlook. Just got my tickets to the London game and I intend to go into the stadium sporting a 45 jersey being in-fu€Kig-defeated!

    Thank you very much.

  17. ben Says:

huh ,,What the heck … Winston wasn’t rated in the top 10

  18. BringBucsBack Says:

    Evans, top 5 receiver
    Suh, top 5-8 DT
    JPP, top 10 DE
    Brate top 5 TE production
LVD very good (not sure top 100)
Jameis top 2 in turnovers (I jest!;)

…and only 2 from that list?

  19. AllwayzzHere Says:

Interesting how the @Joes gravitate toward all the blowhards mostly (Beckles, Prisco, sometimes Kirwan, and a whole blend of satellite radio noisemakers and things at Bleacher Report), with the exception of referencing Riddick now and then, wise choice there.

Anyway, Prisco’s picks are mostly pointless in accuracy of the rankings anyway, thus hard to put any stock in Evans at #86 (?!) and LVD at #92. Way too low for ME13.

This joker Prisco puts Wagner a MLB at #9, 11 spots ahead of Andrew Luck!? Sure Pete, sure. Juju Smith Schuster is a lauggable #45 (!?!) which is 41 spots AHEAD of ME13?!? Sure Pete, sure. Minus AB that fool Juju won’t have the Juju anymore, getting doubled and what not, he ain’t no AB, fool barely in top 100. David Johnson is at #55!? Sure Pete, sure. DJ is way better than 30 stooges ranked above him. Ohh, and Adam Thielen is ranked above ME13. That’s funny Pete. Sure.

Maybe Riddick or Jeremiah should create this list, and not Prisco.

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

That’s why these lists are so funny to me.

  21. Buczilla Says:

An “unequaled football authority” would never place so many inferior players in front of Mike. I’m obviously biased, but this list is comical.

  22. adam from ny Says:

    jpp was top 100 too…why isn’t he on there…

frisky pete prickley acting crazy yo

  23. Magadude Says:

What sucks about this, is looking at all possibilities, I could only think of three worthy players…JPP was the third, but he’s probably not a top ten DE so probably not top 100 overall players. Sad to say.

  24. Magadude Says:

1-4 on the way to London. Best case.

  25. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

    7) Julio Jones, 12) Odell Beckham, 14) Michael Thomas, 15) Antonio Brown, 24) Tyreek Hill, 31) AJ Green, 45) JuJu Smith-Schuster, 57) Davante Adams, 65) TY Hilton, 73) Keenan Allen, 84) Adam Thielen

    86) Mike Evans, seriously?!?!

I don’t care how bad the team is, this is a joke. ME is usually in the conversation with the best in the game, to not have him in the top 25 is BS
