The Tradition Continues

June 13th, 2019

Brings Bucs tradition to Carolina.

He may wear those pukey Carolina blue colors and he may play for a division rival but former Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is not a changed man.

When playing for the Bucs, GMC made it a tradition to have an ice cream truck show up on the last day of minicamp and all Bucs players and coaches got free ice cream treats, all on GMC’s dime. The tradition died this year when GMC was released — talk about a lack of team leaders not picking up the slack!

Let’s just say GMC brought his tradition to the Stinking Panthers. Today, as minicamp ended for Carolina, GMC sprung for an ice cream truck and he bought all his new teammates snow cones and other frozen treats.

Joe providing plenty of fuel for the haters.

  9. DBS Says:

Look.someone used a new user name because they don’t have the nada to use their real one. Let’s see if you show up under it from now on.

  15. Buccernutter Says:

Ah man now if someone challenges him to a dance off after their first loss then McCoy will be set!!!!

Bet you he got one of those batman cones with the gumball eyes!

  16. Lamarcus Says:

Lol. Is he soft serving them?

  17. ModHairKen Says:

Suh would not put up with that crap. He makes the others eat raw meat and drink vinegar.

  18. SCBucsFan Says:

I wonder if JoePanthersFan is posting any Bucs articles

  19. Race to 10 Says:

Irrelevant news and mo one cares about ice cream, they’ll do men things like have a beer after camp with the coach lol soft serving ice cream how ironic

  20. Howard Cosell Says:

    # tmax was right!

That’s a bad bad sign for the Panthers. That ice cream will bring softness to the whole team as the mccoy vibe permeates the stinkin panthers locker room.

If an ice cream truck tried to show up at 1 Buc I’m pretty sure Arians would call the swat team on it Lol

  21. Succaneers Says:

1-15 Bucs will once again suck w the bumbling stumblin winston

  22. Howard Cosell Says:

If you eat the ice cream you start to question the importance of football in the grand scheme of things and you realize just being a good sport matters more and losing is okay if you do it with grace

  23. 813bucboi Says:

    i agree….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  24. ATrain Says:

    McCoy buys ice cream

    Oh Boy

    McCoy signed an autograph

  25. Durango 95 Says:

Seriously, who gives a flying flock. This gratutious McCoy mention has to be a troll job. Last week Joe couldn’t give a crap about team leadership but now either through some ephiphany he’s a had a change of heart and cites it as worthy of a mention or he’s just trolling his own readership.

    You decide.

  26. Totally Exonerated Says:

LMAO!! GMC leaving has gotten us spoiled. This stuff is just too funny to be true

    Now making only about $9M
Actually Gerald’s deal is $7M. $4m signing bonus and $3M salary.

LTBE incentives bump it up to about $8 or maybe $8.5M.

Exactly what I said all along – that GMC’s true market value was in the $7-8M range this year.

  28. Succaneers Says:

This is the worst franchise in NFL History

  29. Succaneers Says:

    St.Louis Buccaneers 2025

  30. Rayjay1122 Says:

Another GMC article… He is a Panther now. We hate the Panthers. Hint hint.

  31. NOSBOS Says:

Wow. Ron Rivera actually allowed this,he is so far removed from the 85Bears. The softening of the carolina panthers has begun.

  32. DBS Says:

Almost like 101 Jameis articles a day. What a shame.

  33. Bradentonbuc Says:

Lol at all the triggered McCoy haters. Keep it up Joes!

  34. Bucsdelight Says:

Don’t forget the $2M in incentives. He could get $10M

  35. Mike Johnson Says:

We bashed Lovie (waitin for his..out of nowhere bashing article this yr). Koetter and Smitty. Now its..can’t get enough of the negative GMC comments. Man..I hope my Buc franchise starts winning. Every yr its the scapegoat..basharama time with our selected poster man. I guess..Losers gotta do spmethin huh?

  36. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Ok, I admit I know nothing about how this site generates money and how advertisers measure what they should pay for ads, but this must be a money generating thing. It is absolutely a “who cares” article, but the GMC haters all love this type of sh1t.

  37. Patrick in SC Says:

    This is a zero……

  38. DooshLaRue Says:

The Sucking Panthers….. and I’m not referring to their record.

  39. Defense Rules Says:

Altered Ego … “This is close to stalking.” Ding ding ding … we have a winner.

Read the other day Joe that in social media, controversy = clicks. Does that apply to sports websites as well?

  40. 813bucboi Says:

he’ll bring that losing tradition to CAR!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  41. Joe Says:

Read the other day Joe that in social media, controversy = clicks.

Sports fans love drama. The NFL figured this out in the 1960s.

Oh, so many claim they don’t like drama. But they do!

  42. Buc Fan South Tampa Says:

Was he wearing his Batman Mask and Cape? Seriously, while I was at the draft when he was drafted, and liked him when was here, I dont care about any of it as long as we have had two winning season since 2008, and no playoffs since 2007. It doesn’t matter, its white noise. Lets start winning again, and Ill care about how he was treated, and who is wearing his number. As long as we have 53 players who look like out of shape tackling dummies then I could care less how he or anyone else is treated. Coach needs to bring a big stick to the team.
    GO BUCS!!

  43. Joe Says:

    And no one cares anymore.

If no one cared, why are people engaged?

    You cared enough to comment.

  44. Rod Munch Says:

  45. D-Rome Says:

What has his replacement done for his teammates? Nothing?

  46. RTG Bucs Says:

Why be upset because he likes ice cream and comic books? It’s his performance on the field that matters, nothing else. And that wasn’t so great.

  47. gotbbucs Says:

Just let the intern and Ira do all the writing for the site. Ira’s posts are always well thought out and the intern has quickly passed by the Joe’s as a writer.

The Joe’s, or at least the one Joe with the love affair with GMC, is just looking for clicks.
There is no way that GMC buying icecream for his new team is something that should interest you, since you continually use that as an excuse for why you post garbage articles. If it is something that interests you, turn in your Buccaneers fan card.
Nobody in that press room or locker room should take your questions seriously

  48. buc15 Says:

who cares Joe? Let’s move on please

  49. Bucsace Says:

GMC- 9 seasons- $100 million in earnings/ 0 signature games/ 0 signature plays. How did he pull it off? Keep a postin’ on GMC Joe!

  50. Magadude Says:

@Pickgrin…thanks for the clarification. He seems to be doing just fine.

  51. Buccfan37 Says:

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.

  52. pick6 Says:

@Bucsace…sad but true. I can recall more signature Kwon Alexander games than i can signature GMC games….and Kwon played less than half as many games and was a more than a little flawed as a player (tackling, assignments, availability)

  53. C2asante Says:

While McCoy may not have had play to match his earnings or draft status, he played well and conducted himself with class. To obsessively trash him after he has gone while he says nothing negative about the Bucs is petty and low class.

  54. Cobraboy Says:

    Excellent news!

The pussification of the Panthers begins for real!

  55. Defense Rules Says:

That’s awesome Rod. And in caps too. With multiple exclamation marks, wow. Realist would be sooo proud.

  56. Tvan101 Says:

I dont hate GMC at all, but I am starting to hate that for the first time ever one of the Joe’s is really letting his pettiness ooze all over this once well run and written website. All you do is bitch or troll or hate on every article. I know the bucs have sucked for years but your constant optimism is why I have been a loyal reader since the beginning. This whole my team sucks vibe is really getting old. Bring back relevant articles and good vibes, stop being so upset that they got rid of your favorite player that you troll all the haters on a daily basis by posting articles about a Carolina Panthers player. GMC was a good not great player, he doesnt even deserve this article based here worship. Go Bucs.

  57. AfroBuc Says:

Oh wow! That’s nice and refreshing news…..for the PANTHERS fan website! Let GMC go be (Batman) great – with Tyler Perry errrrrr Cam Newton – and delightful news of his team softserve, ice pop, frozen cup….WHATEVER….WTF EVER! If you want a new Bucs team, let’s focus on that: the NEW Bucs Team!

No wonder the rest of the NFL thinks Bucs Fans are lame.

Ice Cream, not practice, not a game. Ice Cream!

  58. sincethebeginning Says:

Webster’s defines a fixation as an abnormally strong psychological attachment to a person, place, or thing, resulting in a shifting of normal behaviors in order to facilitate a maximum amount of exposure to the object of the fixation, which in turn provides the obsessive individual with the rush of endorphins and sense of security to which he has become accustomed. Meanwhile, other Bucs fans have moved on.
