“I Am The Best Corner In The Draft”

April 26th, 2019

Bucs CB Sean Bunting.

New Buccaneers corner Sean Bunting, this year’s No. 39 overall pick, may speak softly, but that doesn’t mean he is short on swag.

Check out this interview of him at what looks to be his pro day at the University of Central Michigan, as filmed by beat writer Evan Petzold of a school publication.

It is good to have a defensive back with quiet confidence. He loves that he “shocked the world” with his 40-yard-dash time. Clearly, Bunting doesn’t have what Bucs GM Jason Licht calls the 5-star virus.

I like it, guys should have confidence in themselves.

Now back it up and we’re in great shape!

  2. stpetebucsfan Says:

Another 4.4 40 guy. WOW our team just got a lot FASTER in the first two rounds of this draft.

The old cliche…speed is the one thing you can’t coach…player either has it or not. Sadly last years CB’s didn’t have it and VHGIII is hardly greased lightning.

I love getting faster on defense.

  3. Unimpressed Says:

    Lol

    @Joe

Apologies if you can’t use this link but the Buc’s put out a nice page…Five things to know about Sean Bunting and it’s pretty interesting.

  5. Guzziep Says:

    He’s definitely better than Hargreaves

  6. SKBucsFan Says:

You can be the best corner in the league but if your Defensive Line can’t get pressure on the QB you will get picked apart in the NFC South. Just ask VH3 and company.

  7. JP_09 Says:

Hahaha the patriots took Joejuan Williams…..damn I hope Licht was right on this. Please prove me wrong.

  8. Confused Buc Fan Says:

I feel like I’m the best corner in the draft, it doesn’t make it so. Ok, just kidding, I’ll not bash the kid until I can learn more about him.

  9. Buc4evr Says:

Small conference player, good luck with Ryan,Brees and Newton. Another 2nd round tragedy . Thanks Mr. Gump.

  10. Bucfan Says:

He’s a good rotational DB, but there was better OL players avaible

  11. Dreghost Says:

This guy at best will be 4th in the depth chart and if anybody on here knows a thing or two about football (actually played) then you know this was another wasted second round pick, and hopefully the last one Jason Licht picks as the GM of the bucs

  12. DooshLaRue Says:

I have his nickname picked out:

    Sway.

The kid doesn’t stop moving from side to side.

Hope he works out cause it was a WTF! for me initially.

    Go Bucs!

  13. Buc68 Says:

I was just hoping before our terrible organization moved on from Winston we’d get to see him with an average to bad defense (not record setting bad) and average to bad running game (not freaking putrid). I didn’t think it was big ask, but oh well. At least we had good special teams…. whoops.

  14. Bucfan Says:

    BA’s pics not Licht’s

  15. Destinjohnny Says:

Well at least we didn’t trade up for him#firejason

  16. Bucnjim Says:

None of us know crap! Half the guys we thought were good/great in previous drafts were quickly proven wrong. You know who else sounds like this kid? JPP when he was signed he said no one person can bock me and he was right!

  17. Unimpressed Says:

Sean, your new name is Myron Bunting until you get an interception in the NFL.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I trust Bowles on these defensive picks far more than I trusted Mike Smith….

  19. WhatTheBuc Says:

Here is what SB nation has to say. Look at all the teams that had this guy in. If you think he’s no good, almost every GM used a visit on this guy so I’ll say they don’t agree.
Bunting is considered one of the best press-man coverage cornerbacks in the draft. He’s had workouts or visits with the New York Giants (twice), Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texas, Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.

  21. Buchead407 Says:

Every single player ever says the same thing

  22. Unimpressed Says:

    ^^^^^^

    Bingo!

This is a big nothing post, some guy selling himself for the draft, And we’re supposed to take it as if it means anything at all other than the fact that he wanted to be drafted higher.

  23. Buc68 Says:

Maybe there will be a kicker available in the third?

  24. BucEmUp Says:

    Whatthebuc good input

  25. Dewey Selmon Says:

You will never make it in the NFL if you don’t think like that.

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @WhatTheBuc

    Good info!

  27. firethecannons Says:

I am really glad we got this guy–maybe we can put VH3 back in the slot. The dude talks easily–it will benefit Joe–he will be easy to interview. He looks good–I can see him going up against Julio without getting left behind like Ryan Smith.

Hey, Sean welcome to the Bucs-glad to have you–we need your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Gman Says:

Prove it on the field…talk is cheap. This organization has had plenty of guys who talked a big game and all we see is 5-11

  29. David Says:

    Awesome.
I was just reading about this guy being the sleeper best CB in the draft.

    We shall see

  30. Silent_Partner Says:

Like I said, get familiar with what your coaches want. This is the kind of player Bowles needs for his defense if he picks up the defense because the physical ability is there. Big physical press corner because you have to play on the island in his system since he blitzes from everywhere.

  31. Dashriprock Says:

    4-12 at best

  32. Arian Nation Says:

I can’t believe this pick! Watch his highlight reel, he’s constantly out of position playing against high school kids. The announcer said they were picking on Bunting tonight.

They were picking on a CB playing on a 1-11 team at Central Nowhere U.

Trayvon Mullen, the best CB in the draft was still on the board.
Mullen was the MVP in the National Championship game against freaking Alabama with 6 tackles, a sack and an interception.

He played on an island at Clemson because nobody was stupid enough to throw his way.

Then Gump trades Darrell Henderson (70th pick) to the Rams for the 94th and 99th pick. Somebody needs to change the locks at One Buc Place and fire Licht tonight.

I pity the Joes for having to put a positive spin on this sh!t show.

  33. Guzziep Says:

  34. Arian Nation Says:

I think a Jaws reference would be appropriate at this point.

“We’re gonna need a bigger bench!”’

  35. WhatTheBuc Says:

Arian, They were going after Bunting because they had him on an island. 2 plays later he made them pay with an interception. Scroll up and look at the teams that had him in for a top 30 visit. See if you can find another player that garnered more interest.

  36. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

the worst gm in pro sports 3-13

  37. geno711 Says:

New England has a total of 8 DE/Edge guys on their Roster.
They also have 7 corner backs and 7 safeties on their Roster.

Where do fans think that Tampa needed depth?

Green Bay drafted three (3) players for their defensive backfield in the 1st round and five (5) more players in the 2nd round since 2015.

Maybe we are finally catching up to the curve.

  38. Drew Says:

Clearly some here have very little understanding of what a coverage sack is. Corners shutdown the receivers. DL sacks QB. Great coverage corners = more sacks.
